It’s why I also love the GR Corolla. Looks pretty much like a 2.0L hatchback but is actually 300hp+ AWD hot hatch. Toyota really makes great cars.
That’s why I love my GSF. Most don’t know what they’re looking at or they assume it’s just another v6 Lexus until they hear my exhaust when I take off!😂
Have to use the paddles to actually rev out to redline in the IS.
That's gey..lol
I'm not a 100% sure if the is500 transmission is the same as the iSF but if it is you have to manually shift it for faster and crispier shifts since the torque converter locks after 2nd only on manual shift mode.
Even tunned the 8 speed shifts faster in M mode you are right :) love my ISF
The torque converter also locks in auto if you go full throttle. But you're right about it being faster in manual because you can shift at redline in manual.
Those are decent times, but I would suggest that you might subtract 1.5 seconds off those times, both of those cars are low 13/high 12 second cars in optimal conditions. Fun race.
1 mile elevation. The times are the times.
Thank! Really enjoyed that. Great Job Guys!
"I don't have a sport mode, just D and S" lol
Next race 2006 GTO vs 2014 Mustang GT please.
It is such a shame that the LS 500 does not have that really Suite 5 L V8 instead of twin turbo V6.
It has the NA 5.0L V8. That's why they are comparing the two.
The LS 500 has a turbo 6...the IS 500 has the NA 8.
None of the previous commenters read and understood what you commented lol. I agree with you btw, but I guess it’s because the 5.0 doesn’t have much torque for the weight of the LS500.
Exactly For Sure 👌
My mistake. Lol
Great father / son relationship. Congratulations to you both.
More Lexus V8 content
OMG, the lexus is so beautiful. Also, it will go much farther than 200k, my best friends 08 IS-F is over 300k and hasn't put 1 cent in repairs, just maintenance. I do love the new mustangs for price for performance, but man, they are not built well. I rented one in Hawaii, and literally was excited because when I got in the gears shifter was so loose I thought it was a stick at first, only to see no clutch pedal. Also, lol, the convertible top would not close over the back windows without human help, just poor design and execution. Fun factor was off the charts though.
The fact that the Lexus is a true four seater is why it’s the better car. Plus it’s not a Ford so it will last forever.
After dealing with the recall bs in the first few years, Fords tend to be extremely reliable long term.
I have an 06 GT and it’s perfectly fine, no issues.
guy in the lexus just talking not shifting.... put that mf on S+ and shift the gears amigo
The one thing you can always count on from a Mustang is noise, there really good at that.
But what if it doesn't start? 😉
The Mustang is know for excellent UA-cam crash videos 😁
@@V8AmericanMuscleCar Hah! But that is part of owning a Mustang. Wondering what is going to go wrong today...or stuffing that loose trim back into place...or drowning out all the rattles by turning up the music!!!
@@mikedaleiden7725 Sounds familiar even though I don't have a Mustang. 😅
@@V8AmericanMuscleCaryou know, 🫵 you have American 🇺🇸 in your name but make fun of one of the most iconic sports cars in history really stands how goofy you are..
14 IS vs a 14 GT and 23 IS vs 23ish GT probably would have a better comparison, good video all the same.
2014 ISF has less power but is lighter. The ISF and the IS500 both runs 12.7 so the out come would be the same.
Those coyote engines are reliable and fast 🤘🏼.
With all due respect, that IS shatters the mustang in many aspects
Obviously a comparison for shits and giggles. Except for a similar type V8, these are 2 different cars in separate classes. Lexus is pure quality and will last forever if maintained properly. Two great engines.
the weight difference is really apparent in this competition
I agree with Tommy.
My motto with cars is 4 door or no door.
Kyle said it best, 4 doors, more hors-es... LOL
A bit of honesty here. I love speed!!!! I've had both and the lexus does it for me. Maintenance and gas mileage are key.
"sounds like God laughing" Haha great quote
They're so similar in a straight line there's really no difference.
They should take them on the track and compare handling
Sorry but no engine makes peak torque at 7000 rpm.
5252
Ya the Lexus produces maximum torque of 395lbft at 4800rpm not 7000.
Makes maximum HP at 7300 RPM, not torque.
You can’t beat an American V8
Mustang gang 💯💯💯💯💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
I like V8s but I just rather have the IS350. Not saying its a better car. Its just the "goldielocks" of compact luxury cars.
I don’t think that 2014 Mustang would get beaten by Lexus is terms of longevity. These Mustangs if given care as in above case point already spend 10 years. Yes the interior wise the choice of items that makes & keep mustang cheaper is no brainer… Mustang can be Everyman’s sports car and Lexus can be Everyman’s desirable car.
This 5.0 auto always impresses me. Makes you realize how fast a newer 10 speed really is
Lexus wins for having 4 doors. If a car has rear seats, it should have rear doors.
Imagine what would have happened if they ran it against a Gen 3 coyote 10speed.
That's what I'm saying. Even a manual Gen 3 would have been good too. I think the Gen 2 would be interesting as well.
Is500 looks good particularly red colour
Funny that wasn’t on sport +mode on the is500..
3rd gen coyote 10sp would gap the Lexus effortlessly
That won't happen. The IS500 has top-end advantage
@@yousef.al-assaf how you gonna tell me my cousin gots that same mustang i put a bus gap on him from a dig foh
@@yousef.al-assaflmao the 10 speed obliterates the IS500 😂 Its weird how your on here talking about how the IS500 is so fast, yet every video shows it getting it’s doors blown off by everything in its class. Also the Mustang out handles the IS as well, and beats the RCF Track edition turd. And that’s before we bring out the Camaro which beats them both.

This is the perfect mustang in looks and great performance, my dream car
Coyote mustang might be best bang for buck car ever made.
But will it last as long as the is500,simple answer is no
@chrism869 I don't know, Ford usually makes very reliable petrol V8s...except the 5.4 Triton 3V.
@damilolaakanni not to say Ford cars are unreliable, they are built very well, but lexus is way better in terms of their reliability . But no offense Ford make pretty reliable cars too
@@chrism869 Coyote Mustang is the most reliable car Ford ever made. I would not bet anything against it. Can't say it about other fords of course.
The Lexus will last twice as long and will retain way more resell value. Lexus is also built much better and much higher quality.
Think what a new stang would do. Would love the Lexus too though, I know it’s smooth
New S650 platform is trash. S550 or late S197 for life.
@@nastang87xx cause you can’t afford one 🤣
2:01 it's become a habit for Tommy to mock the viewers. It's getting old buddy.
Gen Z, he "cares" about the comments (a lot) more than his old man. Wish they'd bring out Nathan to do a Rich-like arm drop from the old Pinks days on SpeedChannel... I'm 38, my early car days were built on Pinks and Spike's Sunday mornings i.e. the power pack.
*THAT* was too insulting? Buddy I have some bad news about the real world.
Especially since that sentiment is untrue only because it didn't go far enough. Neanderthals in the comments.
Even the squat was in sync on that third one
2023 Lexus top performance vehicle can hardly beat a 10 year old Mustang. Just think what a New Mustang GT with performanc pack and automatic would do to the Lexus, it would be bus lenghts. A dark horse Mustang with automatic would even tear another you know what in the Lexus.
Lexus is a heavier car and a true 4 adult hauler, mustang is a 2adult+2small children car
4 doors bro it's literally a sedan while the mustang gt is more of a coupe 2 passanger, if you remove the back seats from the Lexus it will probably be as fast as the new gt
@@Investor_philips but replace "New Mustang GT" with 340i and the comment is exactly the same. The Lexus is straight up a slow car by modern standards.
@@memememine1
The IS500 beats the M340i from a roll easily...
Actually it beats all B58s from a roll minus the MK5 Supra.
@@memememine1 is not slow by modern standards bruh, an m340i does 60 in 3.9 sec, is500 does that around 4.6 seconds, which is still faster most cars on the street the m340i will beat the is500 from a dig, but not a roll meanwhile the top speed of an m340i is around 157mph an is500 tops at 165mph, the is500 will begin to catch up when it hits 120mph
The differences in the transmission alone would close the gap. Modern Mustangs have 10 speeds as well as independent rear ends post ‘18. They’d still be “cheap” too.
Wow, a video I never saw coming!!!
Love the front end of the is500 but don’t care too much for the backend
I was surprised Toyota didn’t put the 5.0 in the Tundra
not enough tq for a top engine. the tt v6 has about 60 more
I like how they choose an older mustang gt and bring a newer Lexus. “Very fair”
To be fair the engine in the IS500 is from 2015 and the platform in the IS500 is from 2005 if you want to genuinely discuss older and newer.

why the hell 2014 mustang GT cost $24k? it was $13k all day long without the performance package before COVID. Is it a very low mileage one? Or they appreciate that much last couple years?
Am here just for my brand Toyota Toyota Lexus..❤️👑🇯🇲👈
Tommy doesn't know coyote 6r80 trucks, and mustangs will run 300k easily! And upkeep is cheaper
Which one would be more reliable? My money is on the IS
I dunno man- Late model stock mustangs are pretty reliable.
A 2022 A10 Mustang will gap the Lexus
Use a 20 GT. Game over
If I could choose a car, to be given to me for free, between the IS500 and a new performance pack GT, I'd choose the IS500. The 2014 mustang has cheaper parts and mediocre build quality to save cost, but they are easy to work on, seemingly more reliable than the newer mustangs, and the powertrains are very robust. Lexus is THE luxury manufacturer for long-term reliability and build quality, so it's a great buy too, despite the cost.
So basically, IS500 is a luxury 5.0 Mustang.
Got it
With Turbo, you could probably turn it into a luxury Cobra.
People be sleep on them 14 5.0. Smoked both a srt Jeep and a challenger in my stock 5.0.
Why in the crap didn’t you at least borrow a 2018-23!? I would’ve leant you mine to spank that IS
I love the drag races. I do miss the little tracks ya'll would set up. Drag racing is fun, but cornering and braking are important too.
Umbrella, a newer model mustang would have been more fair considering a 2020 or so would be closer in horsepower
35k vs 75k
My wife has an is350 f sport awd. It's a fun car to drive.
What year is that IS500
Both of them are beautiful vehicle on their own right but I feel if I wore to have a 4 door sedan I would like to have a Genesis
Can you match up a Cadillac CTS V-Sport 2014-19 to either one of these cars?
