I have sooo many plants that don’t need big pots and I have racked my brain as to what to use indoors!!!!! I have hit the jackpot watching your video. I have tons of black pots and NEVER thought about up cycling them!!! I’m all about beach decor so the ideas are unlimited!!!! Thank you so much for your great video!!!!!
Thank you Sharron it watching and taking the time to leave a comment! Stay tuned for more plastic pot upcycles coming your way🔥so exciting to think of all the possibilities for those plastic nursery pots! Yay!!
I like you Marcie. Easy to listen to and your content is very inspirational. Pots and trays have become horrifyingly expensive. 😊 Keep posting, I'll watch.
I tried this method but I used plaster of Paris and I didn’t mix it with glue, I was not happy with the long term results. After about six months when I picked up the pot the plaster cracked and crumbled. I will try again this time with glue added. Very good video.
Thank you! Stay tuned for more plastic pot transformations coming up! Nothing like a good ol repurpose. Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. 🥰
Hi there! I would not recommend placing these outside.. under a covered area yes. I have another video coming out for using the black nursery pots AND being able to go outside. I’ll keep you posted when it’s done! Ty for watching. 😀
Hello! Yes you could use that however first remember to stiffen them with either paper mache or use leftover fabric ThEN procede to use your cement . Otherwise you will have a lot of cracking bc of plastic flexibility.🙃 thank you so much watching my channel. I appreciate you too the stars and beyond.⭐️
Hello Maria! Thank you! Appreciate so much that you watch my channel and enjoy the content!🤗❤️🦋 Thank you for leaving a comment. These golden nuggets inspire me to get better & better.😄 Btw there are several more black nursery pot transformations since this one! There are parts 2, 3 , 4
Hi marci, A Friend and I are getting ready to do this. We are excited and love the idea, but Neither of us are clear on the technique. One place u say add glue then other u say add water in response to a commenters question. Do you make the powder/ water 😊to frosting consistency then add glue or is the glue on pot at beginning for adhesion and the end for smoothing? U mentiond 2 tbl glue to 1/2 cup powder. Is that after its mixed with water. Hope that all makes since. Thanks for the video.
Hello😀 no water is added. Mix glue with joint compound powder(what I called wall putty) you can use the 20, 45 or 60. I used glue all. Mix to a thick brownie batter consistency. First step smear glue on your pot second step is to take your mixture and layer it over glue covering entire pot.let dry and repeat joint compound glue mixture again if you’d like/need more to achieve desired look. I hope this gives you clarity. Thank you for watching my channel. Looking forward to seeing your creations❤️send me pics!
Hello! If it were me and I had that in hand I would use it. I don’t feel you would need to use glue like I did with the wall compound. If the spackle is ready to use I would use as is. Again this wouldn’t be for an outdoor planter. So paper mache over the plastic planter pot then use spackle. .. and it’s sandable too! Have fun and thx for watching my channel.
Hello. These containers shouldn’t be placed outside. Due to nature of putty reaction to moisture/ water. They can be placed on a covered terrace however NOT in direct contact with elements. I have other videos where you may place them outside using other materials. ua-cam.com/video/jihP6g7dvdM/v-deo.htmlsi=fiaZMz0ASIUVNfI- ua-cam.com/video/nGIVpN9NOsk/v-deo.htmlsi=smL8dEWsyyWWsYZS Thank you for watching my channel. Hello! I feel they work better. However that said I’ve never done a science based control studied apples to apples study. Which would actually be interesting. However I do go with gorilla glue. Thank you for watching my channel❤️
Greetings! Wall putty is joint compound. I use as mentioned in video either 20, 45 or 90 ( refers to working time ) I use what I have on hand which was 20. haven’t tried the premixed compound. That could potentially work. Thank you for watching my channel🥰
Hello. Yes. I mention “ wall putty “ as well as joint compound in video as different areas of the country know it by various names. The powder form of joint compound is 25, 46 and 60 min i bendice. I was using the 25 which I had on hand. Thank you for watching my channel! 😍
The black plastic pots are nursery pots … when you buy plants from nursery or garden center these containers are normally what the plants are sold in😄typically the pots are thrown out. Thank you for watching!
Hi there. I go by the “feel” of the mixture. I always take an amount of the powder and slowly add my water. Say take 1/2 cup of the powder and add 2 tablespoons for example. Begin there and adjust accordingly. It should be thick like frosting. 😃thank you for watching.
Or for the cost of the glue and wall putty just go get yourself a terra cotta pot. Better for the plants and better for the environment. Upcycling or as I call it turning garbage into other garbage isn't environmentally friendly. Maybe in the future you will only buy plants that come in recyclable nursery pots like most others do.

Hi, I love your video.! I wonder if this DIY is good for plants outdoor?
Hi there! I would not recommend placing these outside.. under a covered area yes. I have another video coming out for using the black nursery pots AND being able to go outside. I’ll keep you posted when it’s done! Ty for watching. 😀
Hi. I just put out a new video on transforming a black plastic planter pot into a planter for outside.ua-cam.com/video/rdDTAkmoPUc/v-deo.html
Nice job 👍 thanks Thailand 🤩❤️
Thank you for being here and watching my video! 🌻🦋🥰
thanks for showing this DIY I want to try it but have one question. can I paint over this when it's completely dry.
Hello! Yes you may paint the surface as I did ( with pearlized white paint) as well as clear seal. Thank you for watching my channel🤗 so appreciated☀️
Maybe I should use white cement as I have too many plastic pots and bigger ones, so I'll need more mixture.

Correction: the 2 tbl in commenters sec. were water, but you said in video add glue to it. Did u mean to say 2 tbl glue?

Hi we have readymix wall putty in the garage. Is that the same?
Hello! Yes that will work as well. Thank you for watching❤️
Can I use spackle instead of that wall compound?
Hello! If it were me and I had that in hand I would use it. I don’t feel you would need to use glue like I did with the wall compound. If the spackle is ready to use I would use as is. Will this glue and putty work for outside pots in the weather??

Do the gorilla glue sticks work better than regular glue sticks, in your opinion?
Hello! I feel they work better. However that said I’ve never done a science based control studied apples to apples study. Which would actually be interesting. However I do go with gorilla glue.

Hi Marcie good day how are you?
Greetings! Very well. Thank you for watching my channel🥰
What Is the ratio of glue to putty in the mix?
Hi there. I go by the “feel” of the mixture. I always take an amount of the powder and slowly add my water. Say take 1/2 cup of the powder and add 2 tablespoons for example. Begin there and adjust accordingly. It should be thick like frosting. 😃thank you for watching.
Wall putty?Do you mean drywall compound?
Hi. Yes. Drywall compound. I used the 25/joint compound /powder. Thank you for watching. 😎
@@marcieziv Ok that makes more sense. Glad I read this comment because I couldn't see doing it with wall putty.
Huh?? It’s going to pour water everywhere every time you water. Why not get a small paint bucket from the home store and use that??
Hi. If you are referring to the drainage holes one typically uses a small saucer to catch water underneath. Thanks for watching.
