Damn $133 is not just for the food its for the experience itself. The chef got crazy charisma
For as much food as they seemingly got, along with the hospitality, experience, etc. the price isn't bad at all.
In Japan, you really aren't paying for the freshness or quality of ingredients anymore in Sushi. Everyone has access to great stuff. What you're paying for is the skill and technique of the chef, and the Omakase experience. $133 for that master to walk you through a meal is a freaking bargain.
@@KS-xk2so not only walk you through, but he's such a sweet guy. I've gone into sushi restaurants that have stellar service and paid around $60-70 per person, and while that is a great dining experience, it doesn't even come close to kyubey. I could never afford to do it as a regular thing, but if I could, I would pay the chef $200+ for the service he gave. The man is almost too nice, very humble, but I feel like it doesn't matter whether he's talking to the president or just some random person, he gives the same exemplary service. And that's worth every penny.
i thought the price is ridiculously low, especially a place visited by big names and with that dresscode

MONDOU It’s not a scam because the sushi he makes is top quality. It’s fresh and served right away. I don’t know if you’re joking or not, but I just wanted to mention that.
MONDOU but considering how popular and revered he is, you can tell that the 133 bucks is worth it (and it’s a full course for crying out loud), and if you still think it’s scam-ish-ly expensive, then I’ve got something to tell you.
At least it’s not 500 dollars, like the level 3 fried chicken in that one episode.
@@mondou2493 the price of the food is about the quality of the ingredients and how the chef prepares it because those little things make great difference. You can see the clear difference of the three here.

@@billysbob1683 Japan has a regulation where you're not allowed to serve seafood at certain level of contracted radiation and the standard is set at far lower than any other countries so nothing changes and scientifically there's little to no effect in dumping treated water into ocean as every other developed countries have been doing but at far higher rate than Japan.

@INTJ-Scorpio-Sigma-Male Actually if you look it up, he's the owner of Kyubey.
@INTJ-Scorpio-Sigma-Male you don't understand the culture.
@INTJ-Scorpio-Sigma-Male relax hun. don't need to get all credential crazy about it I'm not trying to fight u lol. I'm just sayin that chef is in fact the "fancy" owner of that "fancy" restaurant and it is a source of pride for him, which IS a cultural thing especially in 'oriental' Asia. If you've been to japan you should already know they are people who take very strong pride in their work, especially when it relates to their tradition and culture.
Please don't whitesplain to me on what is/is not Asian, I'm ACTUALLY asian, born and raised... One of my favorite worth-it series episode. I rewatch it just to watch the chef of the last sushi place telling andrew and steven everything about sushi, sushi eating ettiquete, and most importantly asking how do steven and andrew feel toward different dish in a fatherlike manner.
12:59 love this guy. doesn’t take himself or his culture too seriously, just having fun.
Normally my eyes roll a little bit when they go to the expensive place, BUT not this time. You can feel the chef's love for the food and experience he provides for the customer.
Something that worth hundred dollars
It's a private show with an amazing artist, like having a box seat at a west end play. Worth the money.
That is so true, also half the time they just dump truffle or gold on it for the high priced option, but this time the price was high because of quality of the ingredients and the craftsmanship
It’s worth cuz it’s not some random food just covered in caviar, or rArE TrUfFLeS or just gold.
Yup, the whole "we selected the best ingredients/we didn't even try to make it expensive" etc. joints that just throw truffles, (actually cheap) gold leaf and caviar on stuff are the worst. They're never enjoyable and everything feels so painfully staged.
This place on the other hand has a chef that is down to earth and what's important to note, is that it's goddamn omakase. You don't just pay 100$ for a few pieces of sushi, you pay for the experience, for the chef's time, for the meal that's personally adjusted to you etc.
AND on top of that, you get really high quality stuff, expertly handled.
It's hard to argue that something like this wouldn't be worth it, when you can drop similar amounts on a game you enjoy or even just a festival of some sort that's just in the medium price range. I'd much prefer this evening sitting down and having amazing food over going to any concert or sports event.
in my opinion this is one the most worth it $$$ in whole series
no truffle, caviar, gold, no fancy meats just purely high quality of food and service you can enjoy
High quality fish is fancy meat
I think it just the service make the different
@@minhhangtranthi2211 Actually, it's mainly because of the chef's reputation and ingredients. That family has been known for making sushi so their name added to the price. All japanese people are precious, damn I love japan.
I visited Japan about 4 years ago and a memory that has stayed with me is when i went to a small restaurant in osaka the owner was so nice, she let me borrow a blanket for my legs without me asking for it and she gave all of us hand warmers to take because it was cold. She was so nice, and asked how Japan was and how our trip was going, she spoke a little bit of english but still tried to make conversation with us. The people in Japan are truly nice and amazing!
It’s Japan, everyone there is friendly and kind. Just don’t be Logan Paul

Simon James wmakpzqoaa also
Hell if i ever go to Japan i'd probably be willing to pay more than that for a premium meal..
+ditty jacks just say you're racist and go
The last man represents the true Japanese hospitality. He reminded me of my grandma and her siblings in Japan when I visited. Hospitality in Japan is next level. They think of EVERYTHING from start to finish.
Emily Erickson I think that's what made it the most favoured amongst the cast and crew. The service level is next to none, it's more an experience than a meal and that's the key to a successful high end restaurant
I’ve been living in japan for so long and never met someone like the guy that you were talking about, all i get is racial discrimination
best thing about that last place was how the chef interacts with the customers.
I just love the catering industry in Japan. There are people offering everyday, fun, affordable options as well as high-end, delicate, exclusive experiences. And they all seem respecting each others work. And they are both worth the price.
That last chef was really nice and modest. Would really like to go to his restaurant now.
Yea so modest that he refers to world leaders as Mr. instead of President. Considering how important prestige and title are in Japan, he is relegating them as being the same as him which means he feels superior to them.
Remember that you are reading the sub title/ translation, you don't know what he called the President. But as i know, he is very humble and kind-hearted.
@@SKRUBL0RD they aren't president anymore. It's president Trump and the rest former presidents are normal citizens like everyone else. They don't have executive power anymore.

I love that the kyubey chef fed the crew. That was very thoughtful. Also $133 for 3-Michelin star experience is a great deal.
It's not 3 Michelin stars, they don't have any if you check the official guide, Buzzfeed is probably just promoting them.
Great sushi restaurants in Japan don't allow Michelin critic to go in their restaurants (same with all restaurants in Los Angeles), so you won't find any Michelin rating. Michelin is not the be all end all indicator for great restaurants. Many top level chefs actually dislike Michelin rating.
+Dennis S Kyubey Ginza does have 1 star.
There is a sushi restaurant in Japan called Sukiyabashi which has 3 Michelin stars. It’s owned by a man called Jiro Ono, there’s a whole documentary about him called “Jiro Dreams of Sushi”. I highly recommend watching it 😊
There's no way they could ever prevent a Michelin critic from eating at one of their restaurants. Michelin critic essentially live secret lives with no one having any idea what they do for a living, and the restaurant owned by Jiro Ono has 3 Michelin stars, so I have no idea what you're talking about

This is the most first bencher question I've ever heard.
Bring this duo back ❤
Heart exploded over the kindness and consideration shown towards the crew this episode
The grandpa chef is so amazing and caring for giving the other staff sushi after. It was heartfelt.
Sushi is pretty cool in terms of its evolution through history. They touched on it when they talked about how it required a surplus of salmon from Norway before salmon sushi was created. In that same vein, the original Edomae nigiri only had kohada, venus clam, and kurama shrimp sushi, according to sushi chef Takeshi Kawasaki. Tuna was not even considered for sushi, much less human food, because it was so fatty and that sort of taste was not in vogue then. They used it to feed cats! And now, we are overfishing and farming these delicacies due to incredible demand. Food is amazing.
The same thing was with lobsters ("cockroaches of the sea")
As someone who loves sushi, and has been lucky enough to enjoy exceptional Omakase in Japan (and here in the US - shout out to Sushi Taro), I especially enjoyed this episode. Seeing people enjoy fine Uni and real wasabi for the first time always gives me a great feeling. And considering how much one can spend in Tokyo on Omakase, Kyubey is an amazing value.
All of the chef's politeness and hospitality makes me tear up 😢😂

The last place warmed my heart so much you can tell he has so much passion for what he does he’s really so kind and he tries his best to make sure his costumers have the best experience like he did with Andrew when he added more wasabi, I understand the high price point and considering how much care he puts into his sushi he really must be protected I hope he lives a super long life
The amount of dedication and intricacy in Japanese cuisine just baffles me everytime

Simply sublime!
There was alot of super radiated cooked sushi back in Nagasaki and Heroshima from white people.
@@masterkraut9789 there's a lot of mercury polluted sushi in Asia from asians
Without this series Buzzfeed would have been out of business a longgg time ago
minus outsmarted, try guys, bogus beauty......etc. but yea, worth it is definitely my favorite series they have.
Not remotely close
The Try Guys left, though
Buzzfeed unsolved?
If buzzfeed unsolved and worth it didn't exist buzzfeed wouldn't have gotten as successful
These restaurants really show why sushi is so internationally loved
Just seeing this man in action just shows how much he loves his job and how he wants to make people happy and see them smile throughout the night. That to me, is the kind of job that I would love to work at. I make people happy, but also get the bonus of a paycheck.
I absolutely love that last chef! Like, the entire thing seemed so great and worth it for its price, but he seemed like such a great dude, insightful and entertaining, kind and respectful (and wanting it back in an equal amount), he completed that package!
Andrew is so palpably nervous at Kyubey it's hilarious. You can see the worried eyebrows and super polite but awkward smiles and laughs
Sushi I can afford vs Sushi I can never afford

17:31 “I feel like I’m in somebody’s basement playing video games.”
