That first chef was so pure. His spot looked so unassuming from the outside but you can tell how passionate and authentic he is. Hope he gets an increase in traffic to his restaurant from this he deserves it
If you ever want to watch a deep dive on this place, Mark Wiens has a whole video about that restaurant. And the food looks absolutely outstanding.
Saltbox regular here - they have quite the following in the Triangle - on a nice sunny day a line out the door is an understatement. It’s a great team and great fish.
Chef Ricky at Salt Box has a James Beard award- a true master of his craft
He's in Durham, NC! Saltbox Seafood Joint
💯 what i thought 😉👍🇦🇺
This show is getting more and more professional as it goes, but without ever losing its sense of humor and humility to the food and the people who worked so hard to create it.
But they have less budget
@@uniq7778 So, I enjoy this more. Before it was just gold, truffles and caviar
@@uniq7778 budget and professionalism do not have to have anything to do with each other
@@threeleggedcat Budget is relevant to the _premise,_ though. The "three drastically different price points" spiel isn't really particularly accurate anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I'm completely sick of hearing about gold leaf and truffles. Gold leaf is literally pointless, and truffles aren't anywhere near as good as their price point, but still.

Andrew has had a character arc on this show. He’s gone from not wanting to do this to reviewing the food at a near professional level.
Nah, he IS at a professional level. This style of food review is how modern food reviewing is done. When is the last time most anyone read their local paper to read a food review? And look at their reach. They can't be denied. 👀
@@Rallosz i don't think you've watch this show when it just started in buzzfeed. andrew wasn't even the co-host then and it was one of the try guys. andrew got the gig cause he schedule lined up.
This makes me want to rewatch the season one of worth it 😂
He's basically an anime protagonist XD
I believe this has been part of his job for many years now, so he is professional.
Recently, I feel like worth it has shifted from comparing a smaller priced dish to an extremely expensive dish, to just showcasing 3 dishes anyone could afford. All things aside, I love this direction. Looking at all these delicious dishes, and knowing that I CAN eat it is amazing.
$34 for an entree is expensive
@@ACE112ACE112 Yeah, but it's still affordable. It's like before where very few people could justify the price at all (and it often didn't merit it either).
@@tams805 Part of the appeal of the crazy expensive dish to me was to let us regular folk know if we were missing out on anything. The show is called "Worth It" so it was kinda part of the premise to see if an ultra luxurious meal was worth it compared to cheaper options. Comparing dishes within 30 bucks of each other feels more like just reviewing 3 different restaurants. Sometimes the price delta is large enough to make sense though.
I see both sides. When I first started watching these lower priced ones I thought I'd be disappointed, but watching them I can see myself getting this food from these restaurants if I were ever there. And it makes me look for similar places closer to where I live. I love the extravagance of the old format but I like it this too. It's a nice way to change it up a little because you can't keep doing the same thing forever.
I think the food scene has changed a lot in a post COVID world too. Like super cheap places are very rare now it feels like, but there are a lot of mid-level restaurants with entrees in the $16-$30 range. So it makes sense there are smaller price differences between the price points.
I'm impressed that Adam knew what that squash looked like and wanted Andrew and Steven to see it. He's more of a foodie than we knew.
so much drama in the edit 😆
or he saw them when they arrived and the others didn't
or he has italian background and its quite common
he probs saw them during b roll while recording the chef making the dishes and found it to be note worthy
Are squash rare? I live in the south us and they’re pretty common
I love how they're like "Where's Adam?" but Adam is just casually making his way to get a spoonful of oyster float goodness.
They should rename that dish "Oyster Float" !
These might be the three most impressive chefs we’ve had together in one episode. All really solid, well spoken dudes with a really clear and compelling vision.
Happy Holidays
@@ChefRhodes good morning
I really like how this show has morphed to include dishes on the top end that are still accessible to a lot of people for a special occasion. $50 for a dish is still expensive to most people, but it's far more attainable or within reach to most than some dish that is hundreds or over a thousand dollars just because it's covered in gold leaf or truffles or comes with a side of ridiculously expensive champagne like when this series started.
🤘
⁰
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING
I agree, and I think they moved into a more actual "food reviewer" position because after leaving BuzzFeed and their obsession with clickbait crap, they can actually do the job they wanted to do in the first place. They started small like this, then BuzzFeed started pushing the budget and the shock value of ridiculously expensive dishes when they saw them get a following. As always, corporations fuck everything up for everyone. Glad they found their way back to the beginning. Fuck BuzzFeed
Something I’ve really been noticing and loving about the episodes lately is how great the segment is with the chefs they visit. Everyone they speak to is so articulate and thoughtful in how they talk about their food and their choices and the ecosystem they’re part of. It’s becoming my favorite part of the episodes.
I think they’ve had a clear drop in budget as to the final main dish, but it’s making them go out of their way to find more dishes that are “expensive” but truly worth the work the chef puts in. We see more people passionate about their job
@@Crying2Death i like it better this way tbh, those $500+ dishes with all the bells and whistles (caviar, truffle, gold leaf) didn't even seem that good, just ostentatious for the sake of it and inaccessible for the large majority of the people watching this. All of these places I can try and are definitely worth it
@@burythecastle97 yup, they got too focussed on the price tag for the last dish than the actual quality. I’ve enjoyed this down to earth style
Same!!!
We're gone from feeding Adam little tidbits to absolutely stuffing him and I'm all for it.
I love the "not so drastic" price points in the newer Worth It episodes. It keeps the dishes more down to Earth. Back then a lot of the food on the most expensive price point was a mash of caviar and gold but now each dish has it's own soul.
Mario at 'Seabird' said, "you tend to cook a little differently when you know the people bringing you the ingredients". I love that he said this and I never thought of it like that. It makes perfect sense. Now if I can only find my own local seafood restaurant that conducts business the same way. What keywords do I need to search?!
"local seafood restaurants"
Farm to table?
I know there were articles in the past that have said if someone burned a grain while preparing it Sean Brock would make them I think call or write Glenn at Anson Mills to apologize for wasting his effort. It definitely makes you focus on your work harder when you know this is something an actual person has spent months of hard work, its not just some mass produced celery from the other part of the world.
I love how Adam is enjoying a decadent dessert and Andrew just drops a whole fish in front of him
:D:D
I think it’s also to do the with the fact people / fans saying that Adam always gets the leftovers so I think they added it to the vid to show us adam eats like a king behind the scenes 😅
so happy you guys went off on your own. NO MORE TRUFFLES AND CAVIAR EVERY EPISODE. Just proper GOOD food. Keep up the awesome work :)
They haven’t had truffle-clad or golden food consistently since like, season 3.
They're not off on their own, About To Eat is a Buzzfeed channel.
Only the initial episodes had those bougie caviar, gold leaf shenanigans lol
@@secretforreddit Watcher is but ATE i thought was its own thing
@@nadeeeshikoo3837 I think you have that backwards; Watcher is independent.
Okay, so Steven got me thinking when he mentioned being from Ohio: I’d love to see y’all do episodes with this format in everybody’s home state with different regional food cultures. That’d be tight.
That's a good one
I absolutely agree! This would be a great idea!
It's so cool to see Andrew when the chef is explaining the food. It's just pure happines
After watching his process learning about food over lockdown and on this channel with his solo projects and projects with Inga and Rie and Alvin, I feel like I know him in such a close way. I can pick up the nuances of a certain expression. It's weird, right? How do I know Andrew better than I know people in my real life?
@@harvestmoon_autumnsky parasocial relationshiop
@@harvestmoon_autumnsky gotta pay more attention to those in real life 🥺
I love how reasonably priced the dishes have been this season! You can tell it's been a real focus on highlighting these wonderful small businesses rather than just going completely over the top!
Agree, I’m so glad they moved on from gold leaf rubbish, and things loaded with truffles or caviar. Food for the 1% is not what I want to see so often
@@TheSaladin777 Season only has just begun 😎💰
@@IAmTheGlovenor This is the last ep for now sadly haha
@@gabrieljy NOOOOO😢
@@gabrieljy I'm pretty sure they meant that because it's literally the end of the year. Like how tv shows don't have new episodes for like a month as Christmas and New Year's pass. Like, we'll likely get a new episodes first or second week in January.
I love this season. It highlight u.s regional cuisines that not many people might not know much of or not at all. Like North Carolina seafood? Wow. Also the realistic prices. The most "expensive " dish is still affordable
Saltbox's chef just shows so much quiet confidence in his craft it makes you want to trust his entire menu instantly.
I humbly ask for Christmas, a super-cut of Adam enjoying all the food on worth it
PLEASEEE!!
Pleaseeeee!
Yes! and just the expressions/reactions. No words...
We all know damn well that if Adam reacts, the food is really good HAHAHAAHAHAHAH
Thousand percent
Jejemon forda weirdo
I’ve been to SaltBox Seafood Joint like 6ish years ago. The owner is so down to earth and just really cares about making good food. I got to sit down with him talking about his journey and he gave some advice. Amazing guy!
seeing these two grow their bond is beautiful. I remember when their friendship was really awkward. Look at them now. And I love how they always include Adam. This really shows trio is the best form of all friendships
God watching this series takes me back to a time when life was free of worries
Same!
Agreed
😂😂😂😂
The first guy was really well spoken about sustainable seafood. Interesting stuff
I've watched all of your stuff, and one thing I have to say - I appreciate whoever picks out the music, trying to match the song with the atmosphere of each restaurant. It's underappreciated; thank you!
FACTS
This is the most wholesome, informative as well as entertaining show on the internet. This is the only series that improved along the way in all aspects. Including the hosts, the production, the way they choose restaurants and their friendship. Just beautiful.
As an NC Native, this was so good to watch. We have a wide range of cuisines that are not always highlighted. There is even a coastal community that speaks Elizabeathean English and has great seafood as well.
I’m not a native (my family moved to the south when I was young). There really is an incredible amount of amazing food in this state. Done properly, southern food truly is world-class
I wish they had some catfish fried
Being from eastern NC I was really hoping the OBX of NC was represented in the video, but I’m still really happy to see NC seafood represented.
What community? I’d love to look it up.
@@-SarahElizabeth- The small islands off the coast of North Carolina are actually really interesting, because they were just isolated enough to preserve some really distinct cultures and languages. The other commenter was probably referencing the Hoi Toiders, who live on a few islands off the coast. Their dialect of English is likely closely connected to the English spoken by the island's original settlers, and many have accents that noticeably seem a little bit British, despite having lived their whole lives in the US. You should also check out another unique culture, the Gullah people from near the coast of South Carolina, who speak an English Creole language called Geechee. This community is descended from enslaved West Africans, who were taken to the islands off South Carolina's coast to farm rice. Thanks to a combination of isolation and White slaveowners struggling to adjust to the climate of these islands, these enslaved people were able to preserve their languages and customs to a degree that was almost always brutally repressed on the mainland. As a result, Gullah culture and Geechee language continue to have many strong connections to various groups from the West African coast, but blended with European and Native American influences.
Love the development in the relationship between these three, such a great show bringing to light all these amazing dining experiences around the world
I could picture myself watching this 20 years from now. They have such chemistry, and seem truly interested in what the chefs have to say. This show is almost as rewarding as eating the food they are showcasing.
As long as Andrew and Steven make episodes, i will watch. Their chemistry makes this show good. Cherish each other bros.
The Adam segment from 24:57 - 25:20 might be my favorite moment in all of worth it history
Casually eating dessert … Andrews gives giant plate of fish 😂😂😂
i specifically came to the comment section looking for this comment lmfao🤣🤣
UA-cam didn't bother telling me until recently that this series has been brought back and I am so so happy. I love Steven on Watcher, don't get me wrong, but this show is perfection.
same man, been watching since season one and dropped it sometimes back now its back and its better than ever!
I can totally appreciate Steven's POV, growing up in Northern Ohio, the closest thing to Seafood you had was Catfish. So it's hard to understand the flavors of true seafood and actually well curated dishes. It's blown my mind being able to travel coastally how incredible food out there is.
I like how Andrew grew more and more fond of Steven as time went by. I remember at first he didnt even wanna join steven to taste food lol
I can't tell if Adam never has food like this or if it's his absolute favorite, but he seemed to really delight in this week's menu.
Adam's beard is getting more epic every video.
I really appreciate the dynamic between the owners of Seabird and Matt. Especially how Matt just wants to share the joy of eating oysters and Seabird helping in making it affordable for everyone. You can tell they care not just about their food, but as well as making that joy something everyone can enjoy and that's so wonderful of them.
God I love this show. I love how this is a longer form episode too. I love all of the extra parts where they talk to the chef's and go and see different parts of the process. This is amazing.
Please keep making this show!!! It’s the perfect thing to watch on UA-cam before bed, while I’m eating, etc
FACT
This show has really evolved.
I used to think that they would choose the best ONE among 3 different price points Only. But now I can see that they’re showcasing the best food in 3 different price categories.
Good job you guys! Thank you for showing us the heart, story, and effort put in at every level! What a good way to promote food ❤️✨
This formula is so easy to watch. There is something for everyone. The food is attainable. In many different geographic regions. It focuses on the food and the chefs. They teach us stuff. It’s not all about the hosts. They others shine. They tell a great story and they keep us to the end with their picks.
Plus right now there is little to no sponsored content but if they add it I hope it follows the hot ones model.
As a Wilmington local I’m so sad I missed y’all, but so happy to see such great spots highlighted!! I graduated with a degree in film so it was such a joy to see others highlighting the beauty of my hometown through its food and cinematography!
This is one of my favorite episodes! You can hear the passion and dedication from every chef. Much love to Steven and Andrew for making me look forward to every episode 🫶🏼
i’m so sad we need to wait for more episodes!! i missed this show so much and it was awesome to see the boys together again. can’t wait to see what they’ll bring next season
I love this series. Please do it forever. Going to different cities to try food you’ve already had on the show is brilliant. No loss in quality because the chefs you find are so creative.
This can’t be the last one for the year already!!! Please have longer seasons like you used to!!!!! We need more!
Finally, a restaurant I've been to showed up on the show. I went to Catch a long time ago and it was one of the best seafood restaurants I've ever been to. Glad to see it get some attention!
Andrew and Steven are the "Grits" of this show... Adam is the true crown jewel.
Yayyy to a longer episode and Adam getting more screen time! The show keeps elevating with every episode, really proud to watch the growth! ❤
Honestly, Steven, Andrew and Adam being able to escape buzzfeed with Ryan and Shane has made life so much better
I think at this point my absolute fave moment is always the Adam Bite. Literally never gets old 😅
Always love the respect these three have for food. Just a very honest, pleased reaction - I imagine the creator chefs really appreciate the reverence they have for each dish
god I love watching people who love food reacting to spectacular food. you can see the wonder and joy in every expression and exclamation, it's so nice to see that happiness being shared
My thoughts:
- Does anyone else rewind and rewatch the cooking sequences to absorb how amazing the food looks? The videography/camera work of this show is gorgeous. That croaker 4:59 omg
- 20:31 STEVEN xD
- The crab cakes made me smile
- After the 20 minute mark you can tell this show has elevated its game. ANDREW has elevated his game. I feel like I just saw the future version of him being the most classy and friendly food critic ever.
- I'm so glad I saved this episode for when I needed a mid week pick-me-up. in 2017 I remember watching these episodes in my empty apartment when I just moved in. I'm still watching these shows for comfort 😌
I love this show so much. I wish more people could watch it. The cinematic quality is everything. Now with the educational part of sustainability is amazing. Love it!!!
Happy to see Worth It's return! I appreciated that awesome-looking non-alcoholic options were highlighted this season.
This was so heartwarming seeing the three of you back together for this. Didn’t realize how nostalgic I’d get. Until next year.
I still love this show, though I do miss when the price points were a bit more "drastically different". It was great for cheap food recommendations and to quasi experience the decadence of a ridiculously expensive meal. But I'm also glad they're getting to explore so much more as the show has gone on.
Same! I love it this way but it was also fun to see the ridiculous end of the price scale, the stuff I’d never experience first hand 🤣
You three are basically the definition of living your best life. I love the appreciation you have for the food and people you feature. I'm looking forward to the next season!
$48 is actually pretty reasonable for those crab cakes. Earlier this year the market price for blue crab was like $40/lb, and as a general rule the restaurant price is 2x the cost of the ingredients. I live near the Chesapeake bay and people were going crazy because of the cost of crabs, lol.
I love this show so much!! It's so wholesome, interesting, informative, tempting, and mouth-watering - and learning about restaurants supporting local sourcing and sustainability along the way makes it even better. I love food, I love these guys, and the whole aesthetic is just so calming!!
I just wish the UA-cam algorithm could actually get things right and notify me when there's a new episode available!
As a German, Hearing an American pronounce "Spätzle" is the funniest thing to me😂
As an American thats lived in Germany, I was looking for someone talking about his pronunciation 😭
The best thing about this show is that we love the whole crew and the whole vibe. Thats the only reason everyone watches them, the price ranges of the food is becoming irelevant, we are here for the good time.
How often do you touch yourself?
@@nixonhoover2 yo mama does that for me brother. Dont worry
Steven thinking swordfish were a type of shark gives the same energy as Ryan saying hair grows from the skull and through the skin 😂
This has to be my MOST favorite show on youtube, never have i ever continue watching something for so long.
You guys are genuinely happy with what you do. I absolutely love it.
2/3 of these restaurants were visited by Mark Wiens! I'm glad these chefs are getting the recognition they deserve!
Thank you for showcasing NC so beautifully!! 💙
That 25:22 shot of sunlight on the waves was SO gorgeous and satisfying, kudos to whoever captured that shot 👏🏽
I loved all the focus on local ingredients, also the focus on different regions this season. Thank you.
Missing part of the World Cup game for this --- WORTH IT. Amazing content as usual :)
Being from North Carolina (Charlotte) I always assumed that we weren't really known for Seafood, as much as we are for Barbecue and Soulfood. But this episode REALLY opened my eyes. On my next visit home, I am DEFINITLEY going to try these places out, as I am an avid Seafood lover. 💯💢
I'm so happy yawl are back again
This is a tuff one . They all look amazing
I live in Durham and we go to Saltbox frequently. It truly is as good as it looked in the episode and Ricky is that amazing!
Opened up the app immediately after watching on my Xbox because I was so satisfied with this "year end" episode. I only recently discovered this show/channel and I've been devouring their videos non stop. The pacing of each episode is so chill and I almost feel like I'm there with them enjoying the same food they are. I just want to thank the channel for putting a smile on my face and for being such genuine individuals. May you guys continue to make more content and be blessed!
really love this show, thank you.. honestly love when it pops up, wish you would do more
You guys do such a great job. These videos really are a perfect combination of feel good things. Never stop!!
I've loved this show since the start, and truly, this is one of my favorite episodes y'all have ever done. Can't wait to see where you journey to next.
I love that comparison type of videos! Keep going!
I really love this series... please never stop making it, Idk what I'll watch accompanying my meals 🤧😭
god i love this series please never stop. host and cameraman is truly an amazing combo
This might be the most professional and beautifully edited episode. Fantastic.
I consider myself lucky to have found new episodes of worth it… I’ve always loved this show… keep up the great work guys…👍👍👍
Thank you for coming back. Love you brothers
I enjoy this limited run/short run of Worth It! Quality production and you get to travel and explore different places and types of cuisine! Everything looked amazing and now I've definitely bookmarked some places to visit next time I am able to travel! Cheers!
Keep it coming guys. We get so excited everytime a episode come out
Can I just say, this segment right here 25:26 was very relaxing, I love that shot of you two sitting down, having a break, the scenery and set is beautiful
i love how effortless their banter comes off , always good fun
I can't wait that long for more episodes, PLEASE make more fast 😢 One of the best shows on UA-cam.
Those crab cakes must be heavenly because Stevens voiced cracked a bit at the end when he was describing them 😭
This is maybe my most favorite Worth It episode ever. Every single food looks delicious. Also, the trio are great as always!
I love that you all are supporting smaller businesses that take pride in sustainably sourcing and handling their food! I noticed that in the recent pork episode and loved that attention to detail.
Thank you for showcasing my state's local seafood. I spent a lot of time in my childhood at my family's vacation home at Long Beach and the seafood was always such a highlight.
It's cool seeing yall so close to my home. And I'm excited to try these new places, but you guys gotta try North carolinian barbecue.
I really hope they are able to keep doing this. I really love how they're highlighting the chefs even more and more. So glad this isn't on Buzzfeed anymore.
all solid choices. can really see the passion when they talk about their pride and joy of doing what they do.
appreciate all the hard work fellas! will wait for the new years for the next one!
Gosh, I love this trio! 🤣💖 I'm glad their uploads are way longer. You guys always bring the humor and professionalism at its finest.
I don’t think you understand how glad I am that Worth it is back. I get SO excited everytime I get a notification 😭
WOW! Adam smiled! My laptop is covered in (spitted out) red wine and I fell off my chair. SO glad the three of you are back!
