So the $79 isn’t just for ramen, it includes several pricey side items and a whole experience. That’s actually a really good deal.
Yeah honestly if you take away the possible prices of the other item, I don't this the ramen itself would be that expensive either.

“If I don’t eat ramen everyday I feel strange”
Finally someone describing my feelings 😂
I'm curious if that has to deal with sodium content in ones body. Some people have conditions that make it hard to retain or break down sodium (similar to me with vitamin B12 where body wont absorb it unless in large quantities). Your body does need sodium to some degree, so it could be related to that.

Steven knows he's about to taste food that's expensive based purely on taste.
ya
To be fair, truffle and caviar taste really nice.
sorry I have no excuse for the gold lol
@@stephenwu1524 the gold is just for the look tbh
I bet Steven asks those as a reference to the Pizza episode, which the most expensive one was kinda talked about infamously
But there was caviar...
I hope it didn't bother that man when his ramen was called "cheap"; in america it's not always a bad thing when food is called cheap, food here can be so expensive so when food is delicious and affordable we use that word with affection. We do also use that word as an insult as well, english can be confusing like that.
Other side of the example: It's super delicious and really cheap!
I'm sure Rie took that into account since she was interpreting - especially since she grew up in Japan, she probably knew the social connotations and stuff
There are two words for cheap “Yasui” which literally means cheap, and “otoku” which more means “a good deal.” I’m guessing they probably used the latter.
yep saying somthing cheap isnt always bad

Growing up as an Asian decent I tend to work for small Asian reastruants,
I work at a Ramen shop, a small nice family owned buisness the feeling of making Ramen and having passion for what you do is the best feeling ever. I can relate to the first guy that is how it should feel, loving, warming, and as a family!
