I just got home from Harbor Freight with a purchase of a saw kit which I was going to use many say that worked for them. I've seen your method someone else did but people were saying it didn't work for them. I was feeling so helpless. Got a quote diagnosis $99, to actually get the bib off $333, and if that didn't work $1,000 for water main repair 😢. I just couldn't believe it. As I got my saw ready to just handle it myself I needed to look at a video one more time to see how to do it then I came across your video. I felt a vibe that said just do it. So I jump back in the car and go to home depot to get this spray, also went ahead and got the plumber wrench too and OMG it really worked in seconds. I had a lot of hard water buildup when I took the hose off. I thought I needed a new washer for hose but after getting a lot of hard water out no more leaking. Sorry so long but I feel so accomplished and relieved that I can move on and didn't get hit hard financially. It was so stressful over a leaking hose. Thank you so very much

This was the video! I used PB Blaster, and a little bit of Liquid Wrench and WD-40. Sprayed the PB Blaster first and waited for 15 mins and after that didn’t work I sprayed it again with a combo of the PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, and WD-40 and waited for another 35 mins (because it was stuck tight!) and once it sat for that time period I actually used two giant crescent wrenches to get it off, as that’s what I had from my dad. One crescent wrench was on the base, aka the spigot, to hold it in place, the other was used to turn the hose itself, and all it took was one quarter turn, not even, and it loosened right up and I was able to twist it by hand right off! THANK YOU!!! Now we can replace this hose with one that has no holes in it! New subscriber right here!
This is some amazing stuff! With a can of this and some profanity, I was able to bust loose a hose on my washing machine to get some new hoses on. Thanks for making the video!
Had to get a stuck hose off my elderly mom’s hose bib asap for the frigid blast coming to NC today - and I’m no spring chicken myself. Saw your video and turns out hubby had this. It, along with a vise grip, worked like a charm. You’re saving lots of folks big headaches - thanks so much!
That Blaster product works! I could not remove my hose and when I applied Blaster, waited 15 minutes, the hose came off quite easily. The can looked familiar and went I went into my garage, I had it on a shelf - lucky! Thank you for the video! I never would have gone into my garage without it
Great solution! I have had the same thing happen in the past and figured out how to keep the hose from getting stuck. I apply plumber’s tape to the threads of all my hoses and cover it with plumber’s jelly or grease. Haven’t had any hoses or attachments seize up since making this a routine practice.
Omg! Thank you! I’ve used CLR, WD-40 and my little wrench with no luck. Got this stuff and a pipe wrench and tada! 🎉 I let it sit for about 30 minutes it was STUCK but my little girly self got it haha thank you so much for this video!
Thanks very much for this. Had pretty much the exact same problem and followed your advice with pretty much the exact same outcome. Only difference is that I used WD40 which I had on hand. Worked after waiting about 15 minutes. Also I followed the advice provided by several other commenters here: to prevent too much torque to the main line, I used a second wrench to grip the faucet itself.
Thank you for this. My hose was absolutely stuck. When I saw you used the PB Blaster I remember I had bought that like 8 years ago. It took awhile and a few sprays here and there. Probably took about 30 minutes too finally get it loose, but it did the trick.
Excellent video! For a future of trouble free threaded hose to bib connections, do this: Buy a large tube of dielectric grease ( or plumbers oring seal grease) and liberally coat the threads of the hose and the bib. Also please wire brush both sets of threads beforehand; if you do this every three months or so you’ll never have any problems!
Thank you this worked perfectly for my stuck-on sprinkler! I just had to turn the wrench in the opposite direction. I will likely use this in the future.
Glad it helped - it’s great stuff. You can also use an ‘anti-seize’ lubricant ( auto stores or big box home stores should carry it. It’s used to keep bolts from rusting and locking on to the bolt. After you use the blaster to loosen the hose from the spigot, before you put the hose back on, add a little anti-seize to keep the metals from sticking together the next time! Thx for watching !
Pipe wrenches will squeeze the thin brass tighter . Place a hammer tightly against the fitting and hit the fitting 180 degrees on the opposite side with a hammer several times , it will loosen .
I have a stuck hose right now. I ordered a bottle of that PB Blaster... will let you know how it turns out. I always tell everyone that hoses need to be only hand tightened, but no one listens and it looked like the outter nut got mangled from a pair of channel locks.
Thinking long term, do you plan on taking the time to go and get the pipe wrench every time you attach the hose? After buggering the hose fitting with sharp burrs, you won't be inclined to attach the hose with your bare hands. They have adjustable wrenches for use on hexagonal fittings. The right tool for this job.
Watching your video made me think of trying CLR first because I know my issue is the calcium deposit, but if that doesn’t work I will try your method. Thank you!
My hose is frozen to the faucet and the nozzle was froze to the hose also. I sprayed carburetor cleaner on the hose/nozzle connection and after a few minutes I was able to screw the once frozen nozzle off the hose. I have been spraying the cleaner on the hose/faucet connection for a few days and will try to loosen the connection. If this doesn't work, I'll get the PB Blaster, I try to use what I have on hand first.
The PB Blaster worked to get the frozen nozzle off the hose however the PB Blaster would work on the hose froze to the faucet. What is the problem is the two metals freeze together. I have not figured out how to get the hose off the faucet with grinder the female end of the hose down. What I did was use Teflon tape to end this problem.
It looks like maybe the hose fitting is not brass. I could not tell by color but I have bought expensive hoses that have aluminum fittings and have had to cut them off if the spicket. Aluminum and brass have a corrosive electrolysis relationship.
That is a galvanic reaction between aluminum fitting(hose) and the copper spigot. Never mix aluminum and brass. I learned the hard way. There is nothing "stuck" no "gravel" in your connection, just aluminum welding to the brass.
Hey Mark, You might try an anti-seize lubricant such as preventative such as : Loctite 51001 C5-A Copper Based Anti-Seize Lubricant, 1 oz. Put a wrench on the spigot to torque in the opposite direction you are turning the pipe wrench or you could damage the feed pipe. ALSO, before you put the hose back on the spigot in the spring, coat all the threads with silicone grease. When you buy a new hose, get one with a plastic coupler...!!!
Thank you for making this video. It appeared to me that you're 1st attempt with your pipe wrench was also on the hose bib (which could have been why it didn't losen). Also maybe the spray you were using needed a little more time to work it's major? Once again thank you for making this video.
@@Housebarons not sure why I was even watching... I do have a stuck hose fitting but fortunately it's stuck to the brass anti-siphon valve, not the faucet.
Do you think this will work with an aluminum nozzle (on the hose) screwed on to a brass faucet? Honestly, I don't know what material the faucet is...my faucet looks like the one on your video. Thank you in advance.
+1 to galvanic corrosion; aluminum and brass are not compatible bedfellows. Brass is your best bet but if you’re alright with contributing to Plastic Island every couple years, that works, too.
That wrench can break the soldering and the entire spigot could have come off from the copper water pipe. Cutting it off is another way and one I’m going to try instead of that penetrating spray.
And here I've been trying WD40 and All-in-One Oil, just making matters worse. I have some PB blaster in my trunk right now and gonna give it a shot. Hope I can pull off a miracle with my adjustable wrench and a pipe on the end (as I don't have access to a pipe wrench). Tricky part is that the water pipe goes through the wall and it feels like its connected to a PEX line that isn't anchored on the inside of the basement, so when I try to turn the hose end the whole bibb turns with it...even if I try to hold the bibb in place with vice grips. I don't have access to the basement and just attempting this for a friend. Wish me luck. I wont go whole hog because of the unanchored bibb. Worse comes to worse, we'll await access to the interior and secure the inside so the whole valve doesn't rotate with a turn of the wrench. Lol
Yikes Mick.., That being uncharted is a pain! Maybe somebody holding bib with vise grips so it didn’t spin? Projects always seem to come with those hidden surprises! Thx for watching!
What about when you put on a "fresh" female coupling, and cut the hose, like a repair kit? Can you use vegetable oil to lubricate, so if you ever have to remove the hose, it will come off easier???
Hey topdomain, Imagine holding a jar upside down…to take the lid off, you would spin the jar top clock-wise when looking down at the upside down jars bottom. Hope that makes sense. Thx for watching.
I tried this method didnt work for my problematic hose.....I ended up using a hack saw (cut a groove into the metal part of hose, on faucet, put a flat head screwdriver into groove, a little wiggle left to right) presto came right off.....took me 5 minutes.....make sure not too cut too deep and mess up the faucet grooves
Grass is pretty resilient - it will come back. Maybe scrape the top 1 inch of the dirt up and discard. Sprinkle over the dirt area a couple of handfulls of grass seed w) maybe a half inch of dirt on top of the seed. Keep soil moist / don’t let it dry out. - for 2 weeks and the new grass with be growing by then. OR just scrape away the contaminated soil and let the existing grass gradually take over the dirt patch. It won’t take long- especially in springtime. Thx for watching!
Question..you said if what you were doing didnt work you would just cut the hose off. Do you then put a new end on it and if you do how do you get the hose on to the spigot with the old end still stuck on it? Thanks
Hey Laurie, I didn’t want the water to freeze in the hose and end up freezing the faucet, that splitting and causing a bad water leak in the house. So by cutting the hose off, it would be a way to let the water drain from the spigot before freezing. - as winter was fast approaching. The in spring, I would worry about getting the hose off the spigot when temps were above freezing. Thx for watching!
Is it safe to spray my spigot with that product before I attach my hose so when I go to remove it it will not be stuck? Or is there a product like WD40 or something that I could spray on there so this does not happen. All 3 spigots at my home have hoses stuck to it and I'm just not strong enough to get it off and I'm not strong enough to even saw it off so now I'm stuck in the mud waiting for someone to come help me. I just want to prevent this from happening again.
Hey Sarah, Good idea. I will look into it . There are items to keep bolts from seizing on cars etc. But I’m not sure you’d want that on a hose that you might use for a garden. So you need to determine if your hose needs to be people-safe or do you just use it for watering flowers/ grass. If so then Wd-40 might do the job for awhile. One thing that might also help would be to take the hose off and on occasionally… that should help keep it loosened up as well. A vegetable oil might help… but long term, that might attract bugs. Just have to Tues trial and error a bit. Thx for watching.
I wrapped mine at the joint with a folded paper towel, and soaked it in vinegar. The vinegar is mild acetic acid, and it can slowly dissolve mineral deposits. This works great if you can get it to penetrate into the pipe threads, and if the problem is calcium build-up. It might take several tries to dissolve enough to get the hose fitting loose.
@Housebarons I ended up getting a small saw blade and just cut thru right before it reached the ridges , stuck a flathead screwdriver in the crease I cut turned it sideways and it snapped apart and was able to twist off finally
Hey asp5, Might - but not sure I’d want the product in my drinking water system…. I’d replace it first… or at least turn water on and off a few times and see if that breaks it loose.
I was about to go to the store and get that corrosion remover because it was really really stuck. I tried to remove it again using that huge monkey wrench when I accidentally turned on the water. And it loosened and I was able to unscrew it. A little water was enough to loosen it.
Trick is to use VINEGAR. Wrap a towel around it and soak the towel with vinegar. Let sit for 10 min or so. Try. Repeat if necessary. Stay away from using PB Blaster , WD40 or any penetrating oils or petroleum based products. IF they work, all they are doing is loosening the corrosion. That may be ok when taking apart nuts and bolts but for this it will be like this guy and having to use a monkey wrench, which probably would have done the trick without the BP. So the all the corrosion is still in between the metals. Using vinegar actually EATS that corrosion. Plus. A minor thing but still. PB and WD will leave it slick and slippery. The need to wipe it off to the point you can grip onto it. might be too slick to the point you need that monkey wrench or adjustable wrench. Many people don't even have that adjustable wrench. So using vinegar does not need to dry, can even be still wet, when getting a grip. So the people without tools can still take the hose off.
You're using the pipe wrench all wrong. Open the jaw on the wrench and make sure the the part of jaw without the teeth is in contact with the nut and then tighten the jaw. This way you're not squeezing the nut onto the spigot. Channel lock pliers work just as well as curved jaw locking pliers. The key is not to squeeze the connector.
Hi Nickels, I don't believe it is the same product. Im under the impression this item can be purchased at stores like Lowes, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc. I don't know if WD-40 would work, but its worth trying.
WD-40 is not the same and is not a long term lubricant. They do have a WD-40 which will busy through a rusted piece like I've never seen, but the Blaster is what I use for maintenance around the house.
Just to follow up WD40 worked a treat just applied it overnight and it worked on my garden tap, turned left slowly and then left and right to make it more lose and kept working on going left on that nut slowly till I could use my hand to take it off. You might need to use wd40 more then 2-3 times though but its still £15 cheaper then pb blaster (my end) so imo worth giving WD40 a shot just cover up the surroundings since the oil and liquid can leave stains.
Is it always necessary to say something negative? He probably bought the house with the line like that. Not his fault. I appreciate his help. Try saying something nice next time and notice how it physically makes you feel. Not to mention, mentally. Pass it on. We can all make the change. 😌

Hey Sylvia…,
It’s worth a try. Just be patient.
Thx for watching!
+1 to galvanic corrosion; aluminum and brass are not compatible bedfellows. Brass is your best bet but if you’re alright with contributing to Plastic Island every couple years, that works, too.
Hey Matt,
Thx for the input and for watching!
I think the metals aren’t compatible at some Can OF patrol assess what gets The two stuck to gather
Ty so much! Great video.
That wrench can break the soldering and the entire spigot could have come off from the copper water pipe. Cutting it off is another way and one I’m going to try instead of that penetrating spray.
Thanks!
@sharaleesniff2675,
Thank you much too! Glad it worked out for you!
Anticlockwise to unscrew I think
Just spray penatrating oil on the connection and wait 5 minutes. If it doesn't budge do it one more time. It'll work.
Hey prime…,
Thx for the help! Thx for watching!
Coconut oil spray works well too
Hey Gina,
Thx for the input and for watching!
What kind of dog is that? I got distracted!!! It’s so cute!!!!
Hey Jane,
That is a miniature poodle. Best dogs ever!
Thx for watching!
Lol
Yikes Mick..,
That being uncharted is a pain!
Hey Steve,
Good question.
Let us know if you try it out!
Thx for watching!
No vegetable oil. You should use Teflon tape, plumber's tape, whatever you want to call it. Put a few wraps of that on the spigot threads.
Shouldn't I be twisting the hose itself counter-clockwise to remove it from the spigot? It looks like you are turning to the right.
Hey topdomain,
Imagine holding a jar upside down…to take the lid off, you would spin the jar top clock-wise when looking down at the upside down jars bottom.
Hope that makes sense.
Thx for watching.
I use a grinder but be ready to weld the stout if you go to deep
Hey uneke,
Thx for watching!
@@Housebarons yeah man I'm in the field so I' always looking for new ways
I tried this method didnt work for my problematic hose.....I ended up using a hack saw (cut a groove into the metal part of hose, on faucet, put a flat head screwdriver into groove, a little wiggle left to right) presto came right off.....took me 5 minutes.....make sure not too cut too deep and mess up the faucet grooves
Thx for the help
I made the mistake of using a lot of it on a garden hose and it ran off onto my grass and killed it. How do I get my grass to grow again?? 😭
OR
just scrape away the contaminated soil and let the existing grass gradually take over the dirt patch. It won’t take long- especially in springtime.
Thx for watching!
Question..you said if what you were doing didnt work you would just cut the hose off. Do you then put a new end on it and if you do how do you get the hose on to the spigot with the old end still stuck on it? Thanks
Hey Laurie,
I didn’t want the water to freeze in the hose and end up freezing the faucet, that splitting and causing a bad water leak in the house.
So by cutting the hose off, it would be a way to let the water drain from the spigot before freezing. - as winter was fast approaching.
The in spring, I would worry about getting the hose off the spigot when temps were above freezing.
Thx for watching!
The blaster stuff didn't work for me. 🙁 So I guess I will be trying a hack saw.
So sad. That can be frustrating!
Aluminum hose fitting, brass spigot. The will fuse.
Hey Doug,
True, true. We learned the hard way!
Thx for the tip.
Yes I’m sending to my hubby
Maybe he will do something
Hey art…,
Hope it works out! Thx for watching!
Your right pipe wrench has no equal.
Hey Max,
Thx for the comment and for watching!
The metal on the hose bar and on the hose are not compatible causes
It to freeze
Thx for the tip!
Hey Sarah,
Good idea.
Plumbers tape. Put in on in the same direction you’ll attach the hose.
I read to soak it with vinegar. It may take a few applications, but it might save the end of the hose.
Hey Cards…,
That might well help if the problem is caused by hard water build up. Vinegar is very effective with that!
Thx for watching!
My problem is that my spigot is turning at the same time so I can't do that
Thank you
Thx for watching!
Not working for me unfortunately this Arizona water is HARD too much calcium build up. Tried picking at it with a scribe but no luck.
I wrapped mine at the joint with a folded paper towel, and soaked it in vinegar. The vinegar is mild acetic acid, and it can slowly dissolve mineral deposits. This works great if you can get it to penetrate into the pipe threads, and if the problem is calcium build-up. It might take several tries to dissolve enough to get the hose fitting loose.
but your going clockwise?
Hey Mike,
Yes - but the hose is “ upsidedown “ from the cameras vantage point.
Thx for watching!
Dude I used that spray and still nothing. When they painted the house they painted over the hose and doesn't budge at all
Yeah, that paint must be creating a seal. You’ll have to try and remove that paint first.
@Housebarons I ended up getting a small saw blade and just cut thru right before it reached the ridges , stuck a flathead screwdriver in the crease I cut turned it sideways and it snapped apart and was able to twist off finally
I heated mine up with a propane torch a little bit and it came right off
Hey David…,
Yikes - lots of plastic in that spigot! Hope it was all good!
Thx for watching!
@@Housebarons You aren't heating the faucet just the outer hose coupling
Would WD-40 be effective?
Hey asp5,
Might - but not sure I’d want the product in my drinking water system….
I’d replace it first… or at least turn water on and off a few times and see if that breaks it loose.
It didn’t work for me so tomorrow I’ll be buying this product hopefully it works for me.
OH i WAS HOPING YOU WOULD SHOWN HOW TO CUT IF OFF
Tried the vinegar and that didn’t work
Thanks man
Hey Grow,
Thx for watching!
I feel like a moron, I was screwing right to left, when it's the other way around🤬
Hey Holden..,
Live and learn😃 We all have done that if you work on things long enough.
Thx for watching!
I have 3 cans of that but it stops spraying after I use it once. So there's 30 dollars sitting on a shelf. I don't plan to buy more.
I was about to go to the store and get that corrosion remover because it was really really stuck. I tried to remove it again using that huge monkey wrench when I accidentally turned on the water. And it loosened and I was able to unscrew it. A little water was enough to loosen it.
Hey B,
Thx for watching!
The dog ooohhmy god.
Lil bit of WD-40 helped loosen the grip
Hey Hari,
Thx for the comment and for watching!
It didn’t work for me so I’ll be trying his method tomorrow.
Funny I have my hose stuck to my spigot and I realized that my spigot is exactly the same as the video.
Hey richman…,
Hope you have same success.
Thx for watching!
PB "Power" Blaster lol
You're using the pipe wrench all wrong. Open the jaw on the wrench and make sure the the part of jaw without the teeth is in contact with the nut and then tighten the jaw. This way you're not squeezing the nut onto the spigot. Channel lock pliers work just as well as curved jaw locking pliers. The key is not to squeeze the connector.
PB power blaster lol
You must never drink out of that hose again.
Is that the same as wd-40?
Hi Nickels, I don't believe it is the same product. Im under the impression this item can be purchased at stores like Lowes, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc.
I don't know if WD-40 would work, but its worth trying.
No
WD-40 is not the same and is not a long term lubricant. They do have a WD-40 which will busy through a rusted piece like I've never seen, but the Blaster is what I use for maintenance around the house.
WD40 has been used to loosen bolts, nuts and screws for decades so its worth a shot and imo feels like it does a similar job.
Why was the faucet installed six inches away from the house; what kind of a ding bat did that?
Hey BR…,
Typical quick job in a new subdivision they just threw up. Some people don’t care about their trade or craft.
Thx for watching.
Is it always necessary to say something negative? He probably bought the house with the line like that. Not his fault. I appreciate his help. Try saying something nice next time and notice how it physically makes you feel. Not to mention, mentally. Pass it on. We can all make the change. 😌
Hey Catlecat,
Thx. Very kind of you !!!
Look at that doodle
Didnt work
It's not a SPICKITT. Guh guh SPIGOT.

It’s dissimilar metals which has been plaguing homeowners for decades! Should be against the law. Now I run around with liquid teflon and never put any plumbing together without it
Nice tip!
Haha puppy
