That by far is the quickest fix and the shortest video I have ever seen on your channel Steve. Way to go!!!!!!! Keep the video's coming.
That's impressive how you cut that hose of without even nicking the threads on the hose bib. You always seem to have another trick up your sleeve!
You're a surgeon with that grinder 👍
Great to see Miss Molly at the end! You gave that hose connection a little "how ya doin!"
Leaving one of these hoses connected is the problem with light alloy ends. Dissimilar metals corrosion. Old school quality brass wins.
Made the same mistake with one of those hoses. Always disconnect them when not in use.
Always remember: If brute force isn't working you're not using enough
That's my motto
When I’m doubt cut it out lol
That may be the shortest video ever. Even the quick ones make our day. :-)
Need a grinder when the old gundy doesn't work. Thanks Steven!
Did one of these for my neighbor last month. Same fitting, the neighbor had been at it first. I turned it tight first to crack the corrosion and then worked it loose. The angle grinder was next up if that didn't get it.
Those newer garden hoses don’t come with brass ends. It’s some kind of pot metal. It will corrode just like you see here. Grease up the threads every year, and they won’t corrode in place.
I live is los angeles and I have the issue. I thought maybe someone put glue.
Before using a chinesium crap hose always put some grease on that fitting before attaching.
I think project farm proved that using anything is better than nothing
Anti-seize
Steve, your comment about weeding her garden was savage!!!! And I loved it!!! I really enjoyed this video. Nice job sir.
Such a nice guy. I can see a bunch of plumbers hanging up on the old crusty lady but you didn't. As an old crusty guy, I salute you!
Well done. I saw the title of the video and I thought it was ice frozen and not metal metal frozen when two metals react with each other chemically sometimes they lock.
If it was frozen from the cold I was going to say just heat it with a torch.
Grind wheel for the win mamma, good golly Miss Molly spring is in the air
That’s some impressive precision
Now a days you have to put anti seize on you hose times change
If that was my call I would of said scored on a new hose today just need to buy a new end and have it sit in my van for two weeks just saying. Great work !
Impressive.......and now I know where the seal is also!
Great pro tip!
cutoff tool - man's best friend
great job as usual
Next level!
If you’re not in a hurry, maybe a shot of PB Blaster the night before might work. Steve is an expert and knows his trade. I learned a lot watching his videos but lack the skill that only hands on experience will bring. If I used a grinder those threads would be nicked and I’d be looking at replacing that frost free hose bib.
No hose repair end on the truck? How you doin mama.
I use cutting blades regularly on backflow preventers. They are always locked up and frozen
When in doubt, cut it out momma 😜😊👍👍
Nice job and video like always (Steven )
Very cool!
Very swag!
I like it!
Good tech tip !!
the hose fitting stuck because it was not. compatible with the brass faucet . when metals other than brass or copper are connected to brass you develop electrolytic action; in simple terms battery action which causes an
electrical current between them
I had one years ago , I arrived at the house , and Mr. Husband had twisted the spigot off in the wall , they called me to late , and had to spend more money , I hate it , but you can't fix stupid .
Well that was a easy and quickie one lol 😂✌️
I have had the same problem with the garden hose fittings that are being used now. They are just brass colored garbage. I have been replacing them with real brass fittings, that I found online, but the fittings cost as much as the whole hose.
That hose was really on tight like my wife on my wallet
That was a "quickie"!!
Would adding some “Fritz” help that not happen again Steve? Nice tech tip!
mrs molly making the easy money today yall
Awesome
when in doubt, cut it out. Easy money, Mama
I had the same exact problem with a Gilmore hose that had aluminum fittings. Used the Dremel to split the fitting like you did. I was so mad over something that seemed stupid to me. It had a washer on it, was like some kid removed it and super glued it for their entertainment. Being in the pluming repair, how do feel about aluminum to brass connections?
brass ends on hose only
Those new hoses with aluminum fittings are crap.
I would have tried a Bic lighter. Maybe even a hair drier. She's gonna buy a new hose? Well Hell pull out the grinder.
Spray it with Fluid Film before attaching a new hose and it won't happen again.
Thanks
🛠️⚙️😃👍👍👍🌏🇸🇮
That was super fast.
What a quicky
That was easy money
I was hoping to find a vid on removing a hose frozen to faucet from extreme cold. Please consider a rename to "stuck" or something. I understand that frozen is a legitimate word for "stuck." You are not wrong... thanks
USE A HAIR DRYER TO DEFROST FROZEN HOSE
When in doubt, Cut it out...
Tighten it first.....things will always tighten before untightening....
Probably on year round for along time, crap fittings corroded. Like all are saying add a dash of lube or better yet take hose off b4 winter!!
Quick fix Steve. First
If the hose is frozen on..couldn’t you just put some heat on it (torch or heat gun) to melt it a bit then use a wrench to take it off?
Maybe a little Never-Seeze will keep that from happening?
Ain't that something!
But... why couldn't you have gone into the kitchen, boiled a kettle of water, poured the water over the top of the hose, and just twisted it off? The metal part would have expanded, you see. I learned that trick from a guy at a gas station. It was the middle of winter, I was out of gas, and pulled into a gas station. I gave the guy the key to the gas cap, and he came back and said it was frozen on. I said I gotta get gas - the tank is empty! he said hold on a minute. He went away and came back with a bucket of hot water. He poured it over the gas cap, and it came right off! Whew! Good trick! I'll never forget that! :D ~Cindy! :)
i should of just pissed on it i had to go bad ...
Steve, Why didn’t you clean the threads on the faucet for her?
i though about weeding her garden while i was there also ..and said no way
I used an oscillator, mine is a craftsman took a minute or so.
👍
Don’t even know how many of these I’ve done, junk hoses with aluminum ends.
When in doubt grind it out.
Someone may have cross threaded that connector. Then it was over tightened with pliers. They won't come off without cutting.
Nothing wrong with a Quickie
Steve could do precision surgery with that grinder!!
The old angle grinder to the rescue...
Lemme guess? Two pliers?
That was fast.
Brass ends last forever, new stuff couple years...
white metal bound up i told the lady to get a hose with brass ends .
When in doubt cut it out
That lady is just fuckin things up on purpose. She wants the little Steve momma!
One hour!🏌🍺
Stay safe.
Retired keyboard sUper tech.
Wear your safety glasses.
Bet Steve did this as a free service to a good customer on retirement income. He can't say that here else everyone will come out of the woodwork asking for freebies.
Heat it up it would come loose
Why didn’t you just pour hot water on it.
when in doubt cut it out.
She probably left in on all winter ❄️.
Now dude you know you did not have to ruined that hose!
i enjoyed that part very much ..😎
If the hose itself is good the connector can be replaced.
@@joeweatlu5169 yes it can still did not need cut off!
@@KG-yn9qi yeah. With a little more effort with the pipe wrench or channel locks, it should have come off. Gave up too quickly.
Why did you destroy a hose when a little bit of heat would have allowed you to unscrew the hose. Now she has to pay you, plus buy a new hose??? Think before you act!!!
It's the shitty white metal on those cheap hoses...
i have the same problem. Im leaving the hose on. I cnt pay 96 dollars
Not an option in cold weather states though...they have to be removed every fall season
😂🤣😂🤣😂
I cant believe she wasted your time for that!
Good morning Steve and “Miss Molly “!
How was that lady able to tighten the hose so tight that an able bodied male using a large pipe wrench could not loosen it? That is truly tight or as SL is apt to say, 'Tighter than 2 coats, etc.'.
It didn't have to be tightened all that much. Probably on all winter and the two different metals corroded to each other.
@@joeweatlu5169 Close up doesn't show any corrosion. Spigot threads are pristine. Hose end and hose body appear to be almost new.
That hose smells like communism.
Yeah, it's nice and short. But it should've been a minute and 15 seconds shorter!! We don't need the back story; just get to the subject.
