My good man, I would like to take a moment to reflect on your total disregard for your own safety whilst using handheld tools, firstly never hold an item that you are about to drill in your hand. secondly use the correct size drill so that you do not have to ream the hole for your next piece in the project to fit, thirdly, ensure that your drill bit is sharp and does the job with ease, fourthly never use a hacksaw blade held in your hand, it actually has a frame to secure it in, fifthly never pull a hobby knife toward yourself when cutting objects you are holding in your other hand, it is a sure way to cut right into your tendons rendering your use of those appenditures useless.

Thanks! By the way, I’ve often wondered how to repair or somehow “fix” my power cords where they connect into my iPad or iPhone. I read constantly using my iPad but after about a month or sometimes sooner, the power cord area that “plugs” into the iPad or iPhone stops working because the cord breaks off and you can see silver wire at the bottom of the plug into the iPad and in a few more days the cord looses its ability to power (juice up the internal battery) of the device. So (1) how can I stop the cord from becoming useless - I hate when that happens and I still have almost 10 feet of cord plugged into my wall and I have to trash it all because I don’t know how to fix it to plug back into the machine like it did when it was new, or (2) is there a way to prevent the cord from bending so much that it ultimately breaks in places just below where it plugs into the machine I’m using? I’ve tried to put tape like electrical tape around it, but it doesn’t take care of the situation for very long. I’ve even taken Small pieces of wood and placed them on both sides of the area where the wire is breaking and it also doesn’t last very long either, so I’m wondering if you have any ideas? I suspect many people get frustrated daily about this. Thanks so much for what you show us and teach, it’s a great deal of fun and gives us great ideas. Cheers. Rob - Rburdsal@verizon.net

Hi Rob! Thank you for your kind words and support! I totally get the frustration with cables breaking so quickly. Here are some tips that might help: You could try reinforcing the cable ends with heat shrink tubing or using cable protectors that limit bending. Sugru or silicone putty can also be molded around weak spots for added durability. For future cables, organizing and using stands can help prevent this from happening. I hope these ideas help, and I’m really glad you’re enjoying the videos! Let me know if any of these solutions work for you. Cheers!

Ok here's some positive feedback that will be worth taking on board
We have been using the very same principle to rebuild damaged car/truck battery poles for years / an old French mechanic showed me . Clamp a piece of flat steel in the gap of a spare terminal / +ve or -ve whichever is required , hook a jumper lead to the battery's other terminal / do not do this with a hot battery , cover it with a wet rag , never had one explode in 40 years . I actually use an arc air gouging carbon now , however a Big Jim torch 6 v battery has 4 good sized carbon rods inside . Okay . wire brush what is left of the terminal , make sure you have a stick of 50/50 plumbers' solder on hand .Touch the carbon rod onto the damaged terminal and carefully melt the lead down to meet the mold - too hot and it will all run out under the mold , (yes I did that the first time) the carbon will heat very quickly so gently as you go, now use the red hot carbon rod to add the solder into the lead surface puddle and build to original height , let it cool and you're back in action . Wear safety glasses!!
    Cheers NC

Between the hazmat, electrical, mechanical, and physical safety risks I don't even know where to start. I'm not going to write a manual on it here though. The photography was fine, but the presentation definitely needed some more instructions and descriptions of things. It could be followed well, but some captions would have been a help.

Okay, so you made a MacGyver spot welder.
It's interesting, but a bit of a kluge.
Try to avoid holding small pieces of wood when you are drilling into them - especially if you are drilling into an end, and especially if you are wiggling the drill around to open the hole up a bit.
I would also take care on the step where the battery end cap is being removed. Try to securely clamp the saw blade - preferably a blade that is mounted in a saw handle.
There are a few improvements that I would recommend:
First, instead of wood, use small, thick PVC tubing. It should be easy to interface the copper tubing, and it provides a path for the anode wire.
Next, look into simple lug connectors for the wiring into the copper tubing, as well as for holding the battery's anode rod.
Third, the power supply connector has a mating receptacle that can be mounted to the welder rod assembly. this removes the need to solder directly to the round connector. One concern is that the soldering practice seen in the video can lead to producing what is referred to as a "cold solder joint" on the connector's round surface. The power plug was designed for use with a receptacle plug. Soldering such a connector can damage it. As it is, that solder joint is a weak link in the overall assembly.
Finally, instead of wrapping the cathode wire to object being welded, use an alligator clip, or a grounding lug to complete the circuit. Over a short period of use, the end of the wire will become frayed - requiring it to be regularly stripped and shortened. It takes some technical experience, but it is an easy feat to integrate the cathode wire into the welder handle assembly.
When I get some time, and can perceive an application for such a tool, I will craft one up.
I heartily recommend that you look into taking some mechanical and electrical engineering courses.
There should be several available at any local community college.
Also, take better safety precautions - unless you plan on looking for employment as a high school shop class teacher.
The previous sentence was a joke.
