Conan was one of the few late night talk shows who would have more extreme metal acts on, they would even do a sketch every appearance that they didn't book the real Slipknot but instead accidentally booked a fictional comedy vaudeville act called 'Slipnuts", who were just three guys who would sing songs about slipping on peanut shells.
When they 1st appeared on the show they performed Wait and Bleed. They also have appeared on the Jay Leno show and at the Jimmy Kimmel Live. Fun fact, years after this performance Conan arranged for a “band” called Slipnutz to open for Slipknot at a show they did at the Continental Arena in NJ, which consisted of 3 dudes just singing about slipping on nuts, needless to say the fans did not like it 😂
Still got the VHS and memories of literally fending the TV from my family til it was recorded. It was so good. Also got slipnuts too. Love the faces of the pit as they come out. Also Clowns little dance/walk as they all greeted each other lol
Conan is actually known to have some of the best live performances on his show. I first started watching him back when he first got his show because he’d have performances by people you really wouldn’t see anywhere else on TV. I continued watching because Conan is my generations Letterman and Carson. And because Norm MacDonald was always on there.
I read the TV guide in the early 2000's in Aus, saw the knot+Conan, I recorded it and still have a VHS player to occasionally watch it!! Still awesome!
I love this one, I remember seeing it. It’s always a vibe when everyone is banging at the same time. It’s like “the wave” at a baseball game. But better.
The first TV show I saw Slipknot on in the UK was when they performed 'Wait And Bleed' on TFI Friday. That's definitely one to watch. I think the most insane performance though was from the clip I've seen on UA-cam where they played 'The Blister Exists' on Jimmy Kimmel. They went harder on that than they did on Conan.
Can't believe Paul was able to get away with that with no problems. That's awesome! And as far as the crowd goes, the people knew Slipknot was going to be there and they had a lot of fans there for sure
This was their best performance ever just mind blowing! IMO there energy here is unmatched 💯🔥🚒👿💪 Clown was pulling his head apart actually its a mask that splits looks like hes pulling his brains out
Morning fellas! That was freaking great! Hell ya! They all could barely fit on that stage! Haha! I woulda loved to have been there! It'd have that small venue feel and that'd be hella Kool! Great choice guys!❤️🤓🎸🤘👍😁
True story: Conan is how I found out about Slipknot in 99. Been a fan ever since. Part of the reason I rock with Conan for life. Him and Craig Ferguson are the best talk show host ever
@@joeblume573 Jay's dad worked for Conan and knew that Jay was a huge Slipknot fan so he introduced the band to Jay. There's pictures from the show with Jay wearing a Corey mask meeting the band with his dad
Jay Weinberg's father Max, also a drummer BTW, was the drummer and bandleader on Late Night with Conan O'Brien back in the day. I bet that after seeing the 'Knot perform that night, his young life would forever change... 😁😁😁
Man oh man, this was an event. I remember being pumped for this!! Had my VCR ready and recorded it live. I watched that tape multiple times daily with friends and family! Great reaction guys!!!
Definitely react to wait and bleed live on Conan. They also did before I forget on Conan. There’s loads to be fair . They played sic on a random French tv show in 2000 . They played duality live on Jay Leno. They played a few songs live on Jimmy Kimmel . Oh and I almost forgot, they played wait and bleed on a uk show called TFI Friday and it’s mental . The thing that’s great about Slipknot is even though it’s a tv performance they just as hard as they would if it was an actual show
The year is 2001, the absolute peak of Nü Metal! "Iowa" was about to come out, and Slipknot went there to promote the new record. Nü Metal was super mainstream around that time, so it's no surprise to see a band like Slipknot in a late night show. In fact, many Nü Metal bands were given the same opportunity in the late 90s and early 00s. Limp Bizkit, P.O.D., Coal Chamber, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Deftones, among others, they all performed live on Jay Leno, Conan, and other late night shows. P.O.D. even introduced Katy Perry to the world on a Jay Leno show in 2006. So you can tell how big/popular these bands and the movement were back in the day 🤘🔥
I found a band a few days ago called EXTERMINATION DISMEMBERMENT, the song corpsepit I've played more times I can count!! Everyone check out that song. It's a genre I've never heard before. Slamming brutal death metal. They are also from Belarus so they do the English and Russian like Alex Terrible.
Conan had a lot of bands that other late night shows would not touch. Jimmy Kimmel Live is the best show currently for seeing more metal bands. He had Ghost on a few months ago.
I remember seeing tham on his show for the first time. They were just starting to take off. I had heard them on the radio but had no idea what they looked like. After that all I knew was that they wore red jump suits. I saw this performance too and it was mind blowing, since he usually had groups like Hootie and the Blowfish on.
When you were talking about imagining Grandma watching Conan late night and listening to Slipknot, I was thinking about another video you guys would have a fun time reacting to. Watch an episode of Elders reacting to Slipknot. This guy in that episode named Yehuda totally gets it. He was the one that said, "man I wish I was at this concert." I saw them play live for the 1st time ever a few weeks ago.
Hell yea! Nice! Man, they were all so fucked up at this time lol Conan was criticized for having them on his show. We need some more reactions to the download 2009 concert. To me, that one is the best. Do eyeless live at download 2009!! Sic also!!
U guys reaction is priceless... I enjoy a lot... Love from Aizawl_Mizoram_N.E.India Almost 2 decades ago i watch this performance... Look at this Jim root stage performance is lit... 🤘🇳🇪🇺🇸
I thought of the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald immediately too! There is a great folk song by Gordon Lightfoot about this tragedy. Conan OBrian used to have metal bands on all the time years ago when he was smaller & in the later night slot.
Wait and bleed live in Conan The blister exists line in jimmy kimmel SIC french tv show (very rare) the very 1st slipknot live performance i ever saw, got hooked eversince….
You guys should check out Kim Dracula - Make me famous. You want to talk about insane. They're all over the place. Definitely in your wheelhouse though
Y'all are portraying Conan in a different light. He had more metal artists perform on his show than Letterman or Leno because people didn't accept or think it was safe to do so. Conan was the middle finger. Slipknot actually advertised this upcoming live event on Conan through their website back in the day. Imo Conan helped to pave the way for heavier bands to perform on tv in a time when only big pop stars, classic rock and country dominated. This wasn't the beginning by far but they were on his show performing Wait and Bleed if I recall. Also don't forget the performance tons of people have reacted to from Disturbed doing the Sound Of Silence was on Conan, so take that poppy title back and give that man his flowers. Kimmel is the only other one that made a stage for groups but now he's a political shill and useless. Late Night tv is a husk of what it use to be. I miss Conan, wish he would've kept going.
I love slipknot dude there like the greatest heavy metal, death metal, and nu metal band. I’m a big fan and yiu know it cause I own 2 shirts 2 cds and a hoodie if it
Imagine being a kid, and begging to just stay up late for the first time, and mom says yes, then to her horror this band comes on, and then little billy has to go to bed by 10pm on weekends until he is 18.
Y’all mentioned the Edmund Fitzgerald. You should definitely check into some Gordon Lightfoot. He has a ton of amazing songs. Including one covering this exact subject.
Dude. Nils dominator Fjellstrom the drummer is the most amazing drummer you will ever see. Watch anything with him on a drum cam and it will guarantee you to forget all who’ve come before. The band is Dark Funeral, but tune out vocals if it’s too harsh just listen to drums and tune rest out. I don’t. But you MIGHT have trouble with the religious friends. Which I’m Christian, but this dude is master level good. Speed and technicality.
Either Joey couldn't hear them or they couldn't hear Joey, cuz either Joey's behind or the guitars are ahead. And that's not like them, so the sound must've been off that night.
That tiny little stage couldn't contain their energy. I find it humorous seeing them all packed together like sardines.
That's how the first 3 years of Slipknot shows were. It was honestly better when they had small venues.
i like how they have no space for the percussionists instruments, but they all headbanging as one unit🤘
There aren't any drums on this song. They had them the other two times.
OMG My favorite live version of Heretic Anthem, they went crazy on Conan!
Incredible 💯

Was coming here to post about this!

We all love young Joey's energy, it was just so pure and agressive
They previously played Wait and Bleed on Conan. Worth a reaction
Conan in the early 2000s always played some of the best metal/rock bands that no other networks would touch
Slipknot at their prime 🤟
I read the TV guide in the early 2000's in Aus, saw the knot+Conan, I recorded it and still have a VHS player to occasionally watch it!! Still awesome!
Im so happy that y'all reacted to this version of the Heretic Anthem, this is honestly my favourite version of the song too
They did Conan a year earlier and they did Wait and Bleed. They also did Kimmel in 04 or 05 and they did The Blister Exists. I think Duality too.
I love this one, I remember seeing it. It’s always a vibe when everyone is banging at the same time. It’s like “the wave” at a baseball game. But better.

The TFI performance is awesome. They lose a camera man half way through as the crowd is going mental 😂
Back when bands actually played live on TV
I still remember this watching for the first time man what a feeling it was man
Can't believe Paul was able to get away with that with no problems. That's awesome! And as far as the crowd goes, the people knew Slipknot was going to be there and they had a lot of fans there for sure
They were also on jimmy Kimmel. Did a song out in the parking lot. Can see the crowd reaction in that one.
We love to see it. Happy Saturday everyone. Smokey I looove your shirt!
Conan has been a metal head for years. Love your reactions as always. Have a great holiday guys!!!
It"s not a Slipknot live show in tv but Corey's interview with Larry King was a something!
Fun Fact: Jay Weinberg, the Actual Drummer was 10 in 2001 and he meet the band through his Father, Max who was Drummer of Conan's band
It's taken me the better part of 20 years to appreciate Slipknot as a group. In many ways they are like America's version of Rammstein.
Dude you have to check out Slipknot's The Blister Exist performance on Jimmy Kimmel. They were going nuts on that little stage.
They actually gave a F, Corey removed all the swearing from this version lol still very well played and performed 😂
Wait and bleed was the first Conan aperance. They also did some stuff on Jimmy kimmal
Gúys, Conan is a big time metalhead. He's had lots of crazy bands on his show.
This was their best performance ever just mind blowing! IMO there energy here is unmatched 💯🔥🚒👿💪 Clown was pulling his head apart actually its a mask that splits looks like hes pulling his brains out
They have one of the greatest concert intros ever.
Smoke! That’s a rad-ass tshirt, Sir!🤘🔥😵
Him and Craig Ferguson are the best talk show host ever
fun fact this is the first time little jay weinberg met slipknot
The show that changed Jay Wineburg forever
??

Their best live TV appearance was surprisingly The Blister Exists on Kimmel. The also performed Sic on letterman abs Walt And Bleed on Conan.

Yooo coreys last scream is f^#^#
Nah, of the late night shows back in the day Conan was your best chance to get on TV if you were a metal band
fun fact , conans former band leader max weinberg's son jay weinberg is now slipknots drummer
Conan had a lot of bands that other late night shows would not touch. Jimmy Kimmel Live is the best show currently for seeing more metal bands. He had Ghost on a few months ago.
lovely fellas, heyyyy from Australia, you had to be there in the pit!! It was something else!! Xx
Y'all didn't notice the cameraman headbanging!? My favorite part.
I remember seeing tham on his show for the first time. They were just starting to take off. I had heard them on the radio but had no idea what they looked like. After that all I knew was that they wore red jump suits. I saw this performance too and it was mind blowing, since he usually had groups like Hootie and the Blowfish on.
Them: This band is nothing but agression and evil.
Me: Smile like an idiot during the whole performance.

I watched this at like midnight! I was Not disappointed!!!!!!!
Very nice.thanx🙂🙂🙂🤘
They did Top Of The Pops in the UK as well. Caused mayhem.
Really? I don't remember them being on TOTP, although I think they were scheduled to be. There's nothing on UA-cam.
React to Kiss -- I love it loud
Conan had the best bands in late night, back in the day.
Brutal guys
Please one more surprise action live on Letterman
Mastodon the Motherloard
Please and a big hugs from Brasil we love our energy!
Greetings from Guam! Please check out Cypecore - The Alliance. 🤘🤘
HOLY SHIT !😳That begging scream Is🔥🔥 That performance is FUCKING AWESOME 😈😈😈😈😈🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥Best show EVER
Yeah if you can find their debut of Wait and Bleed from Conan the year before, it's also a great live performance to see!
I thought of the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald immediately too! There is a great folk song by Gordon Lightfoot about this tragedy.
Conan OBrian used to have metal bands on all the time years ago when he was smaller & in the later night slot.
Wait and bleed live in Conan
The blister exists line in jimmy kimmel
SIC french tv show (very rare) the very 1st slipknot live performance i ever saw, got hooked eversince….
I always loved how Conan had everyone on. Just another reason to like him lol
Also, the SLIPNUTS were featured on this episode of Conan I believe...if you got the time you should check that out. It's pretty funny!
You guys should check out Kim Dracula - Make me famous. You want to talk about insane. They're all over the place. Definitely in your wheelhouse though
"what's clown doing?"
"headbanging"
i'm dead
Can You react to El Incendio - Nuestrooctubre pleasee, it's a new single of a little metalcore band from Spain:
If you listen closely, you'll hear Corey avoid the swear words 😂
7:51 The cameraman must be headbanging 😂

Corey almost sounded sad during the encored parts.🤣🤣
Pls, check System of a Down's another rap song "will they die 4 you"
I'm not seeing enough comments about Max Weinberg being conan's band drummer and now his son is slipknots drummer
React to Kiss - I Love it Loud
I love slipknot dude there like the greatest heavy metal, death metal, and nu metal band. I’m a big fan and yiu know it cause I own 2 shirts 2 cds and a hoodie if it
Conan was on late after Jay Leno. His audience then was mostly younger people so they probably did love it.
Slipknot les meilleurs surtout les 3 premiers albums l’ancienne génération la meilleur
Imagine being a kid, and begging to just stay up late for the first time, and mom says yes, then to her horror this band comes on, and then little billy has to go to bed by 10pm on weekends until he is 18.
Jim still has Conan beat. I think Conan is 6’4, and Jim is 6’6.
By far their heaviest song ever
If it weren't for Conan Jay Weinberg wouldn't be Slipknot's drummer. He was introduced by Jay's dad Max who was the Conan shows drummer.
I still have vhs recordings of all the best. Rock alt metal. On late night talk shows. Jay Leno Conan. ,. Etc. Yeah buddy
the fact that they never once cut to the audience tells you what they must have looked like seeing this lol
Remember when late night talk shows didn't all suck? They are absolutely horrible these days. The only good one is Gutfeld.
Y’all mentioned the Edmund Fitzgerald. You should definitely check into some Gordon Lightfoot. He has a ton of amazing songs. Including one covering this exact subject.
I wanna see Slipknot on SNL!
Now I want them to react to the song The Wreck of Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot
Snap 97 Demo off the Freddy va Jason soundtrack
Plsss react to Limp Bizkit-9 teen 9 nine lyric video🔥🔥

Rotting Christ - Athanatoi Este please
Conan back in the day all the big metal bands on his show
Only other performance to hold a candle to this on Conan - The Dillinger Escape Plan! Pls react to that!
If you guys reacted to this, so you should react to Wait And Bleed by Slipknot live on Conan O'Brien show on 1999. 🤘🏻🔥
I fuckn love Conan he down with us, I still love Conan
Either Joey couldn't hear them or they couldn't hear Joey, cuz either Joey's behind or the guitars are ahead. And that's not like them, so the sound must've been off that night.
best live forever heretic
I think this is when jay first met them backstage
