Thanks for the tips, I’m sold on using fluorocarbon leaders even though at my age it’s darn near invisible in the air too ! Your underwater camera footage is awesome !
Lol thats funny Cal. I go fishing with one of those super cool guys and I refuse to use his super cool stuff and normally always catch more fish than him 😁👍👍🎣. Thanks for the video
On lakes that allow two poles, I'll use leadcore on one side & mono on the other. When I get more bites on one pole than the other I'll make my adjustments. Works great when using the long line for kokanee as well as trout. Tight lines.
I’m guilty of not experimenting. I found a rig that limits me out in just a couple hours every trip and I don’t change even though I have a hug box of tackle and a while bag of baits.
Thanks for the tips -- question about fluorocarbon -- is there a way/reason to use it as your main line, not just the leader? I've tried it as my main line and I get so many snarls/tangles that have to be clipped off and then I have to re-rig everything ... it's very frustrating. I've tried soaking my spools in warm water, but that doesn't really seem to help much. I use a barrel swivel any time I'm pulling a spoon or anything that could cause line twist. Any tips for taming the fluorocarbon line, or is it really just best to only use it as a leader? (I've been using 6 & 8 lbs test - same brand as you showed in this video).
How are you Cal? I have a question. Do you use snubbers with your lead core? Are they really necessary? So far I have been doing good without them using your techniques but I’m wondering if I’m going to lose a big fish one day for not using them.
Snubbers are common on old school lead setups with 10+ colors of lead. Our hybrid setup doesn't require them with the topshot and leader between the lead and your tackle. A quality rod with a soft tip also helps act as a snubber and makes up for the lack of stretch in lead line. ~Wes
I’m not going to thumb down your video (it’s all thumbs up and I don’t want to ruin that) but I don’t think there are any mistakes regarding fishing. Some of the worst techniques I’ve seen have produced the most fish.
Drinking lots of beer helps me from keeping the boat too straight when trolling.
Wow!

Hahaha...... Remember back in the old days when we could see!!??

The thing is.... You always look super cool with a big fish on your line...lol
Solid advise Cal.
Thanks Ken!
Hey bud thanks for taking that picture with my son at Collins he was stoked . What lb test do you recommend for lead core
Great fish cam footage
100% agree with the value of using leadcore, even in shallow water!
Thanks Gregg! I ❤️ leadcore!
Leadcore is king over here in Maine.
It works great. There are times out here in California that we need divers and downriggers but I use LC when I can which is much of the time!
Good information, I'm guilty of a few of those mistakes. Have a happy new year.
Me too..... Especially straight trolling!
What no link to your lead core hybrid setup?

Yes..... If I can dial in a bite I prefer one rod!

While using leadcore vs downrigger I’ve caught so many more fish on leadcore that I thought I was using the downrigger wrong. Lol
what kayak are you fishing out of

For what it’s worth, I use mono on my spool and flouro only for my leader material.
How to used the lead core line? Do I needed a whole different rod?
Check out my leadcore rods.... they are the best LC rods I’ve ever used and they only cost $60.......
I got ledcore rod on the way👍

@@FHSTackle thank you Wes. Hit Isabella yesterday but only managed one little guy.
I was using lead core while kayak fishing then I forgot to tether it up and it fell overboard. sank real fast!
Oh boy!
