I was loving my weighted blanket until I started having extreme knee pain. In fact, I think the knee injury happened while rolling over in bed under the blanket. ITs taken 2 years to heal my knee. During this time, I switched to a small duvet that doesn’t hang down on the sides of the bed. I have not been able to tolerate anything that restricts my movement in sleep. Age 82.

I had such an awful day, mostly from work, so i had a delicious sandwich, and then I got my book Fast like a Girl delivered. Right on time, to read you say to not be so hard on my beautiful body, even if i still need to make changes for health. We'll i just checked my blood glucose and it's up to 155, yikes and my KETONES are at .4, so i told myself what a good job i have been doing since i have changed my diet, and that is what my body was doing all the time everyday on my old regular way of eating. I've been working on eating healthy for only two months, been doing keto but not getting enough calories, so not enough energy. I'm so excited to get your book to figure out how to lose weight and eat healthier and have enough energy. I love fasting and just started to change them up. Also I'm post menopausal so I'm so happy to hear about a solution for that as well. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I would love to do the reset but just can't afford it right now. Working on that as well. I do crafts and I'm looking into how to sell them but still enjoy making them.

Its likely that sandwich ...reg bread will definitely cause a spike in b.s. I found even the keto breads, or homemade keto from almond flour kept my bs high. Breads /sandwhiches and pasta were my weakness. I have up all 3 yrs ago and do not miss at all now. My bs stays between 85-101 now. Mostly carnivore. Age 65 , feel amazing

I’d lost a lot of weight, hit a lull (forgot what it’s called) and was stuck. I had a hysterectomy to help with my endometriosis, started gaining a little weight. Two years later, ovaries removed because more endometriosis and I’ve now gained 60 pounds that I’m struggling to lose. I love the CALM app for breathing meditation before bed. I’ve also found that if I put the phone down and watch something I’ve seen a million times and is just noise while I play a game like sudoku I sleep better than I do if I watch something new or I’m scrolling. I’m always stressed because I have a manager who does not share the same values. I’m still figuring many things out for my body/journey but have to have hope!

Greeks eat dandelions all the time. You boil them (after washing them) and eat them with olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper. A little feta and healthy bread doesn’t hurt. 😊

when I fast for 42 hours, the second night is terrific. I wake up perfectly rested around 1AM and still have five hours of more sleep. Example today, 9 hours total, 2hrs 15 min deep, 1hr 30 min REM. Can't get any better than that.

I noticed that on the days I’ve slept properly, the digestion and weight is markedly better. As I havent been fasting lately, I was able to observe the sleep factor on its on. Yes indeed, do not underestimate the power of sleep to process, heal and regenerate. (And p.s. yes, yes…in my post-grad psychology studies long ago, I learned that sleep is an important transient stage for knowledge storage and memory too. I used to cram for exams and have a good night’s sleep before the next day’s exam or event… ie never, never think it is better to cram and walk straight into that exam.)

31:11 After five years of fasting, I don't consider anything below 16 hours as "fasting" nor "intermittent fasting" nor "time restricted eating". I know it takes my body 12 hours to stabilize glucose levels. Plus dawn effect, plus glucose spikes during exercise, it all points to the fact that less than 16 hours of fasting simply have no effect on metabolism or digestive tract. If you are perfectly healthy and insulin sensitive, we may settle for 12 hours, but anything less should be considered as unhealthy as smoking.

I try to eat organic food as much as possible. However, sometimes it just doesn't exist. I can't find organic brussel sprouts in my local grocerie stores. Or organic arugula etc. So I do eat vegetables and greens that aren't organic. I live in the Netherlands, so I hope that this limits the amount of pesticides on my food....

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  13 днів тому +1

You're doing great! Eating a variety of vegetables, even if they're not organic, is still beneficial. The Netherlands has stricter regulations on pesticide use, so you’re likely getting safer produce. Keep enjoying those greens!

I completely understand that our bodies function differently. But all this do’s and don’ts is completely overwhelming and it is not sustainable.
Because of work, I live between countries. In Europe or Africa or parts of Asia; no one that I know of spends any time talking about the kind of food or the time they eat, they eat whatever time they happen to be eating and they don’t worry about gaining weight, at least not in public.
In the US, I think of gaining weight all the time, hard to stop b/c everybody is telling us what we should and should not do. Comparing our ancestors with our current lifestyle. The part of the world I mentioned also had similar ancestors. But they still continue to walk to everywhere, public transportation is easy to access, their food is clean nor heavy processed. We eat what is available and can afford.
It is the food that is the problem not the time we eat, at least in my opinion.

. Just NO seed oils. Remember that what the long held notion of "well balanced" may not in fact be "healthy". Cut out all seed oils, processed foods. Just meat , low GI veggies. I don't do fruit bc the fructose turns to sugar in body and raises blood sugar. I have progress from 1 year keto to now 3vyrs mostly carnivore and haven't even had a cold in 4bm yrs. Reversed t2D, off ALL 14bmeds from 5 yrs ago and feel amazing. labwoek is excellent.

😂 embrace it, it is a symbol of divine feminine creation. Ever seen a mother dog belly? 😂 Duty is the ultimate form of love, doing something that you don't want to do for others. Mummy body is the sacrifice made to protect your children and bring them into existence. It is freaking awesome. If anyone gives you shit about it, grab it and shove it in their face 😂 tell them, this is my war memorial for the sacrifice made to create life! It is Remembrance Day here in Australia. May the mothers of this world unite and declare "we are the creators"... LEST WE FORGET. Besides, walking around naked with saggy gut, tits, stretch marks and huge arse is the best way to educate my son's in the reality of the post porn image 😂 best sex ed I could ever teach them... before/after ! 😂 Then finish with "I made you and I can take you out..." 😂 etc. As I have said 'embrace it' your apron is a badge of honor of motherhood and a teacher of reality to your children. Sexy!😂❤

Hi Mindy. In my 20s I was underweight due to undiagnosed anxietal depression. I ate very little for around a decade.
Now as a post menopausal woman my belly fat is truly stubborn so I’m trying your 36/12 fast. What’s happening is that the food I’m eating in the 12 hr isn’t coming out. Honestly my body is absolutely sucking everything it can out of the food it gets because (I think) it believes it’s going to be starved again.
I’m finding that I can’t focus on my work due to hunger in the 36 hr period without food…and this is stressful…not good for cortisol levels.
The combination of these factors makes me feel it’s counterproductive. Any advice?

Why be on internet if you want to be alone. It’s just as bad sometime the comments.

I really like your work Dr Mindy...but why you are promoting Kefir and bone broth in a box packed with conservatives when it is so easy to fix it on your own?

Many people will not try if they have to do too much. They will if they pick up a box
