Dr Mindy has saved my mental health and quality of life. I live in Australia and the drs here just told me to look at my portion size for my menopausal weight gain. I have been able to lose weight and feel amazing.
Thank you ladies for this episode ! I have been fasting for 2 years with your book Dr Mindy then I gave it a break and I have gained weight and have felt crappy so today I got my Eat like a Girl and I’m back on to your regimen cuz my body loves fasting and I’m not letting others shame me for fasting anymore cuz I felt way better in that lifestyle ❤ love you both!
Mindy is the best!! I learn so much every time I watch an interview with her. I follow her on UA-cam, and I have all her books! Eat like a Girl was just delivered yesterday YAY
Love Mindy! She has truly been a blessing to me! I have listened to her for 3 months or so & bought her book & have learned so much from her! Lost 25lbs and have t felt this way in years! She’s a Godsend for sure! Thank you for interviewing her! New subscriber! Love the woman encouragement comments from you! Love you already ! ❤
This is really fantastic. Thank you Marie and Dr. Mindy. It's about time someone addressed women's health and how we're different. Great information from a clinical nutritionist!!!
@@jghawk100 it’s that men’s bodies work somewhat differently to women’s. Unfortunately, much health and medical research was traditionally carried out on men, which has unfortunately hidden various women’s health issues. It’s not about blaming men (I saw your other comment 🙂), but about understanding the differences so that women can take charge of their health and stay well.
I really needed salt the other day and said to myself "i want salt& crunch, what would be safe?" I was out of popping corn and had been eating too many nuts recently. I found in Walgreens of all places ' Lesser Evil clean snacks ' ( local here in CT) popcorn. Ingredients: organic non gmo corn, organic coconut oil, Himalayan salt. A 3 C serving- 10 g net carb, 4 g fiber, 6 g fat, 2 g protein, 120 cal. Wow! Oh yeah, it's actually really good, as in yummy.
But you didn’t think of popping the popcorn yourself at home with coconut oil and sea salt f ex? This is the difference of Americans and others in the world. We usually make stuff from scratch and eat fees h (although that culture is taking over most countries now too).
@@natalic6088 of course i did. That's what i usually do. I use an airpopper and have a lot of fun with different seasonings. I was out of popcorn. It's a 40 minute round trip to the grocery store, and they don't even carry organic non gmo.
I’m almost done with the video but, I wanted to know, for those of us in menopause with no period/cycle anymore, how do I get rid of the toxins(detox) that come out during menstruation?
Infrared saunas can be great. They are my favorite thing for detoxing. You can also do detox baths with magnesium salts or with Dr. Singh's detox mustard bath. There are also supplements like calcium d-glucuron and other things, tons of them, honestly, that can help detox you. But with supplements and stuff, or really anything, I would have some really robust labs from a functional medicine doctor before diving into anything. Everyone's bodies react differently to things.
Yes but depending on where you get your sweet potatoes you will be impacted differently. You make sweet potato fries at home - great. You get them in a restaurant it may have toxic seed oils and some grains incorporated and you dont even know.
Love you (BOTH of you)! I've bought a book for myself and my Sister. Thank you! You are (both) beacons of light!!!!!! (I live in East Tennessee but I'm truly a Jersey Girl -- heck yay!!!!)
Respectfully, ❤ I don’t think calories is BS especially when her methods of losing weight centers around fasting in 36 hour windows and eating within 4 hours windows which is putting you naturally into a calorie deficit. Drinking bone broth and eating fat to break a fast teaching the body how to turn off hunger also is putting the body into calorie deficit which helps you eat less food. You can’t have one without the other. I believe that most people do not pick foods that are healthy for their body makeup.
Dr Mindy Pelz’s advice has really helped me with my blood sugar levels that kept creeping up - I do NOT want to end up with diabetes. I’ve been to drs and had my thyroid markers tested, took HRT for 10 yrs, and all kinds of food eating plans etc.
I'm fasting I have done also the 24hour fast and still I'm stucked! I can not lose weight after giving birth and I've lost only 6 kg in a year. I don't know what to do anymore
Oh my, I'm sure scrolling my phone at night when I can't sleep keeps my cortisol up continuously, phone is now going to stay at my desk. 68, grandmother, not obese, dr. wants me to loose for good reasons, my eyes are open and just bought my daughters and I the books. Good one Marie! ♥
Ohhhh, we're THRILLED to hear this! Sending you tons of love as you break the doom scrolling habit - we've been there. Keep us in the loop and let us know how it goes! ❤
She actually answers that in the book, cuz I had the same question and i just read the book lol...Basically, during your pre menstrual week, you shouldn't fast longer than 13 hours. I naturally stop eating at 7 pm and don't eat again until 8 am, which is 13 hours, but I wouldn't do longer than that during that week. You should get the book, Fast Like A Girl 🎉😊
I’m on a medication that I need for a bit while working to get off others (long story) but I have to take it every 12 hours, so twice a day and it needs to be taken with food. So I can’t get anymore than 12 hours in and sometimes don’t get that. What about fat soluble vitamins that we take that need food. I feel stuck till I’m at least off that medication but so much needs to change before I can come off it. It’s a Beta Blocker. The whole journey of a medication that has been messing with my nervous system since I was put on it at age 16 (now 44) is too much to get into in this comment. I didn’t know that it was 80% of my problem until I was almost 37 and I’ve been actively trying to come off it since. I have significant weight to lose as well. I’ve made so many changes to my diet and lifestyle but it’s not happening fast enough.
How many different veggies a week?? Food has become so freakin expensive in (Eastern) Canada ... people can't even afford the basics anymore. Read "Fasting like a Girl" and could get some good advice from her.
You have to check her book but I think there is a way to fast for night shifters to help detox to make up for the night shift problems. It is going to depend what else is going on with you.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. There is no such thing as the right way to eat. My grandmother lived to be 104 and so was her mother and they both survived famine and three wars with no access to food. Go figure.
STOP GIVING THIS WOMAN AIR TIME!!! She is NOT an expert women's health or menopause. She cites research and science she doesn't understand and it is plain dangerous! I am so disappointed Marie would even consider having her on.
She is a doctor as in a chiropractor. I completely stalled under her method. Dr. Stacy Sims advice is legit & has been life-changing. Pls go check out Dr. Sims PHD.
I’ve followed Dr Mindy’s advice and I have successfully lost 20 pounds, which I had been struggling with for decades, so I’m very grateful for her advice, much of which is free on social media. I don’t agree with absolutely everything she says, but then I haven’t found a health specialist yet with whom I agree on everything they say either. Wanting one person to have all the answers is a dangerous path to go down , I believe. I appreciate the way Dr Mindy brings us the latest research and keeps us updated. I know some health specialists stay in the same groove for years and have an aversion to changing their opinion. Dr Mindy is genuinely curious and a seeker of the truth, in my opinion.
Whoa. Where is this mean spirited comment coming from, I would love to know. Did she harm you? I think she advocates for women to listen to their own bodies before all expert advice. As a side note, she is the first person who opened my eyes to how the hormones in my body worked (at the age of 47! Wish I knew all this before). Following her advice I have lost all my stubborn belly fat, curbed my cravings and have built more muscle through the right food, and regular yoga and exercise. I’m sorry her advice didn’t work for you, but it has changed my life for the better. Perhaps you care to share why you find her “dangerous”?
She’s actually very well educated on women’s health. And she doesn’t gate keep the information that’s in her book, which I’ve read. it’s been two years, I’ve lost over 100 pounds, and if nothing else, her information helps women better understand the hormones of their cycle.
