I cant wait for cinnemassacre rental reviews to do some spoooooky movies in October
Same here!!
Also same
Saturday the 14th , the deadly spawn , Q wing, terror vision troll, ghoulis & the gate oh and house please do one of them!
Also same
Yes! Ghoulies would be PERFECT for this show, too. I really want them to do that one.
Can't wait to see Cinemassacre Video decorated for Halloween in cheesy decorations.
All of the yes. I really want them to watch Ghoulies. It's PERFECT for this show.
I want them to be the cheapest most cheesy Halloween decoration they can find XD
🧀
yes please, this so much
I'm so buying Halloween decorations this year at Dollar Tree. Thank you for reminding me. ^_^
The movie and the TV series was on CONSTANTLY through the 80s and 90s on TV. A real nice piece of nostalgia. Kevin Peter Hall died in 1991 and they had to find another Harry after he died. I think they ended up using five or six different actors for Harry. They could never replace the talent of Kevin Peter Hall. R.I.P
I was not aware that he passed away, and knowing he was the OG Predator. =\ Saddened.
Beerdy - Bruce Lee Central When Kevin died he was replaced by Brian Steele a close friend of Kevin's.
I didn't know there was a TV show
Oh, here we go with this stupid "80's & 90's" shit!
James Muller Decades exist, you know.
Grew up in the 80’s and 90’s This movie is awesome
Man i forgot how realistic Harry looked, even by today's standards it's still better than most animatronic costumes etc.
Yeah, he looks and acts so real. Could never do that with CGI.
Looks better than she-hulk.
Even the new King Kong looks terrible
"I wanted to be Harry."
[looks at beard and hair]
"I think you nailed it."
Pretty funny.
It sometimes blows my mind how diverse Lithgow's career has been over the years. The guy is such an incredible actor in pretty much any type of movie genre or role.
This was quite good. The beard guys insights were awesome. The merch add at the end was brilliant.
Fun Fact: Kevin Peter Hall also had a background in tribal dance which shows in his movements as the Predator
The Predator in a previous life was a Friendly Sasquatch.
John Lithgow is one of the greatest actors of all time.
Loved him in Cliffhanger and Third Rock!
My brothers keeper.
If you want to see him twice as much ;)
@@vonshroom2068 are you sure you're not thinking about Raising Cain? He plays everyone in that movie, lol
Nobody plays the psycho bad guy better than him. Cliffhanger, and the best season of Dexter among his resume of awesome roles he also nails comedy which works because it's such a huge contrast
Garp
I like how everyone gets their time to talk without fighting for time.
Surprised there’s no Dirty Harry and the Hendersons parody sketch anywhere
go watch "Every Which Way But Loose" and "Any Which Way You Can." It's basically the same thing...
James these are the greatest ever. Great movie choices and amazing commentary. It's always funny, informative, and its very naturally done. These are a wonder to behold.
My chair is lower than my self-esteem.
+Justin Silverman Come on, my dude, you're always great, especially in these sorts of videos.
Come on man. What happened?
At least you got a chair this time. The other videos you're looking over like "damn why do those guys get to sit down when I gotta stand here?"
What time is the library open tomorrow?
@@rangoononline Anytime u want, dude. 😉
I so absolutely love these!
What a great idea, and of course the execution is awesome.
THIS SERIES ROCKS
My family Watched this alot when i was a kid. This should be a good one!
This is a prime example why practical effects are better than the CGI crap they give us today. If this movie was made in today's time, they would CGI the hell out of it and it just wouldn't look as good.
CGI always looks dated when you watch it years later. Practical effects hold up much better
That was a real wolf in that movie - not CGI.
Wrong. Just because some practical effects are good doesn't mean they are better than cgi.
Yeah, bad cgi is bad. But good cgi is amazing. Practical effects just are not believable in most cases. Like Yoda in the last Jedi. It was so obviously a puppet. Cgi would have been a much better option.
The fact is that 95% of the cgi you see is so good that you don't even notice it.
But hey I guess you would rather that jurassic park was made with clay models and stop motion, right?
Kur Norock actually you're the one that's wrong and most people would agree that practical effects almost always look better than CGI. My guess is you grew up when CGI took over and The fact that you would prefer a CGI Yoda over a puppet Yoda makes one assume.
I've seen more bad practical effects than I have bad CGI. All this CGI hate is just bandwaggon jumping spearheaded by nostalgia blindness.
Whoever does the voiceover for the intros of these videos is so perfect!
im pretty sure it's just james
I was just thinking the same
@@quasarulas3968 Definitely isn't James. It sounds more like it might be Tony or Kieran.
Ron Perlman was great in this movie.
Cannot unsee
LMAO, bravo sir bravo.
I was thinking Tom Waits. But then I realized Tom Waits and Ron Perlman could be the same person.
And no true sequel....Perlman kills another franchise.
That is actually kevin peter hall, not ron perlman
My parents would go rent the huge grey VCR from the grocery store and we'd rent Harry and the Henderdsons, Back to the Future, and Three Amigos. Wow have times changed and I'm not really that old.
@Smooth Tommy Vermooth Lots of people did before VCR's were in every household. It didn't take long for us to get one but initially that's the way it was.
I remember being able to rent game consoles
Rented an Xbox one time
Prime Time a lot of people did in the 80s
How do you define "not really that old"? I'm almost 32 (Oct '86) and have never heard of VCR rentals. I must have just missed the days when VCRs weren't affordable for the average Joe.
@@floyd2386 Yeah, you just missed it. I'm 37, and it was a big friggin' deal when we went to Sears (because we bought everything at Sears) to buy a VCR when I was a little kid.
"Is it letterboxed or widescreen? no just fullscreen" - Conversation with a Confused CMV Customer 199x -
You guys should definitely review “The Stuff”(1985). I think it would be perfect for October and provide some funny commentary
Maybe. I saw it recently...it could be fun. Having dubs did a fun dub of it.
He did “the stuff” during monster madness a few years back. The review is on UA-cam.
Spencer Lamb thanks! I was looking for it on the official page but I found it on a monster madness fan page
No problemo
I now really want to see a Harry and the Hendersons Take On Me.
haha there is one on utube, just found it :)
It was not "Harry & the Hendersons Take on Me", it was just Harry & the Hendersons.
Fuck A-Ha!
see if you tube has the full movie
The whole flower in the fridge that is a thing its a keepsake my mom kept the flowers from my prom its been there for 12 years and still there
And you need to keep flowers chilled during transport too so they can stay fresh.
Do flight of the navigator.
"Compliance"
Great movie
That Twilight Zone The Movie _"A Face In The Window"_ at the end. lol I'm dead.
I LOVED Harry and the Hendersons as a kid too. It may have been all over the place and I most likely didn't understand it as well, at that age. But I think it had a perfect balance of fun for a kid my age and just the right amount of conflict, making you cheer Harry on.
Always a nostalgic joy to watch cinemassacre's videos! Keep up the good work guys. I remember seeing Harry and the Hendersons in theaters.
Can't wait for the Halloween reviews coming up! Great review as always!
It's really inspiring to see homes like this. Too many people are focused on either living like pigs or are hyper clean with "nice" things and while I mean no insult to James or anyone else by saying that...I simply mean the video rental room, the video game room. I would love to walk into a room in my house that SCREAMS 1994 video rental place. I'm sure it's a great feeling and a total nostalgia trip. I would stand and just stare in awe from time to time. Hell, I do that with my own game collection and I have a mere 200+ genesis/nes/snes/gameboy/n64 titles. Shit like this is why people are awesome.
Please review Coneheads...and My Stepmother Is an Alien.
Yes the coneheads has to be reviewed. That movie is nuts
Graham Curran yes coneheads...and space truckers.
yes space truckers is awesome great robot suits @@adamclark9552
Or 'Meet the Applegates'.
Coneheads is a must!!!
I hope you guys review The Monster Squad next month.
Oh wow I haven't seen this since I was a kid. I remember the TV show too and feeling a bit betrayed that the family changed. Please do Flight of the Navigator.
This series reminds me of like a Cheers type of show. It just takes place in a "video store" instead of a bar.
I remember seeing this on the video store shelves as a kid but never actually watching it. Was too busy renting those NES games.
The Narrator is so good! LOL!
I love this series so much.
Thank you for providing it, guys.
You are the best!
I love these Rental Movie Reviews they kick total ass. Big thumbs up to you James.
This is a great movie,Kevin Peter Hall was Bigfoot and was also the Predator
he was the mounter in Prophesy 1979 mounster in the closet 86
Could you guys review Big Trouble in Little China?
Quirky Fungus Macaulay Culkin answered your prayer. XD
Never knew there was a TV Show either... looks like they used the same animatronic. Pretty wicked.
One of my favorites when I was a kid. When's Monster Squad?
Wolfman's got nards!
You must be thankful if you know people and be able to talk like this about movies!! I love this so much!!
Could you review Night of the Comet? It's one of the quintessential 80s movies that no one talks about.
I had the vhs. Probably the "zombie" movie I grew up with
Great movie
You should review one of the movies for mom and dad
I like to thing that if you go inside that section of the store, you would just end up in the Cinema Snob's set.
Best episode of Rental Reviews to date! Cheers fellas.
I eagerly await Cinemassacre and Redlettermedia's inevitable Rental Reviews/Half in the Bag crossover.
Or a review of one of the "movies for Mom and Dad" featuring The Cinema Snob.
I appreciate that Justin is finally not dominating the entire conversation like all of the other reviews they do. Yay
j ss Same. Too much anxious domineering
Probably has something to do with being able to sit this time around. Guy looked like he was gonna drop in the previous Rental Reviews.
So glad you guys started this Rental Review Series. Been really enjoy them :) It seems really enjoyable to make them too. Keep it up
No reference to Every which way but loose (Orangoutang movie) when talking about Dirty Harry and Harry.
Noticed it too. Pathetic for "movie buffs."
@@StillAtMyMoms who said they were movie buffs?
I've been binge watching these a lot lately. favorite part is seeing what videos are at the front of the screen.
You can’t not be happy when watching Harry and the Hendersons.
You are so much more enjoyable to watch than Doug walker James and I'll tell you why. Every where you look nowadays someone with no authority is trying to force some religious or political belief onto people and it's extremely refreshing and relieving to just be able to laugh and enjoy nostalgia whether games or movies or whatever without listening to a celebrity completely divorced from the political arena pushing ideas as if anyone cares what they think. That's also why I enjoy phelan porteous. It's just comedy without the smug political garbage. That's why I've been a fan of yours since like 08.
It's hard to pay attention to the video when you've got those distractingly sexy Cinemassacre T-shirts on.
The Librarian!!! Perfect match!!!LOL🤣😂🍻🍻🍻👍
I love how the big guy said this movie is pro guns. Like LITERALLY the central theme of this movie was anti gun. The fact that the characters are INTRODUCED as using guns is what we call the start of their character arc. That's why the "hunter" becomes "worse" throughout the movie. Because the movie is SPECIFICALLY SAYING that hunting for sport is bad. His dad runs a hunting shop and his son rebels against that. Also like the SECOND scene of the movie has John Lithgow say to his kids "hey, hey, hey, watch out for my drawings!" Dialog informs character. The drawing thread did not come out of nowhere unless you were not paying attention....
You guys are weird. Let James talk more.
It seems they try to have some kind of political commentary in each video. There is enough of that all over the internet
Oh yeah and did you fall asleep when he talks to his wife and literally has that scene you guys said should have been in there. He says "I wanted a set of paints for my birthday. Instead my dad got me a BB gun." Come on guys...
Drake Harris politics involves everything in life for the most part. Everyone has an opinion and they are entitled to that whether you agree with it or not
MrBackoftheface I don't come here to know these people opinions on politics, i come for movie reviews.
evilsWA -- Just to clarify, he said "the family is super pro guns, which you never see in these movies." It seems like you really blew that remark out of proportion and twisted its meaning.
This is pretty much the defining flick of my childhood. Love it so much.
Next you guys should do 'No Retreat, No Surrender'.
"So it is you, the son, is it not?"
I was thinking of that or Gymkata just now myself. 2 random people thinking of the same obscure movie a few hours apart? Seems like a sign, James and company.
I like seeing Krull on VHS up front, which was recently riffed by RiffTrax. Put Space Mutiny up next to it!
I'd like to see you do batteries not included
I feel like that movie disappeared off the face of the planet:/
@@joelnachos7988 its a shame as the movie is quite good.
the book of dumptruck, I would agree. Although, it’s probably been more than a decade since I’ve even heard the name. But I do remember the movie being very charming with a good message. I thought the robot saucers were pretty adorable as well.
It was sort of like a pre Wall-E without that overused “save the earth,” nonsense. Before everything was mainstream and wack, haha
Cinemassacre, AWESOME! Always love this film. Always love hearing y'alls thoughts and views on these films. Another great video. Can't wait for the next one.
John Lithgow has a similar face as Harry
I appreciate you fixed the "even if it sucks" intro part with a new movie that doesn't reflect light in camera :)
PS: Best intro ever, I even appreciate the tape noise effect.
Do a cinnemassacre review for Maniac Cop !
Hell yeah! I saw that on HBO super late when I was like 9
That would be awesome
The 'How often can I say like in one sentence?' gang is back! Fun video as always. Keep the reviews coming guys.
Hardly started, but I'm already excited.
Knyght that's what she said
As a kid I spent all my summers up at our cabin in the Northwoods, and a couple times a year we would pile into the station wagon and go into town to see a movie at the little rinky-dink theater. It was always a fun experience. This was one of the ones we saw that really stuck with me. I had a new mission when I went out to play... Finding Sasquatch. I confess I haven't really stopped looking. If I am out in the woods I still find myself taking a second look at trees and bushes once in a while just to make sure.
Just a little tip for the guy in the glasses, who I assume is the owner of the video store. Your computer is not state of the art, and you might want to invest in some newers movies and dvds. It's hard enough to run a video rental store today, much less with older stock. You might want to also kick out the same 3 guys who always hang out in your store, only one of them ever seems to rent anything. Good luck with your store, it's still awesome to see a rental store in modern times!
FulkNerra are you 4 real??
@@canag0d are YOU for real?
yea its time to move on to windows 98
Funny, or at least your trying to be!
This is Cinemassacre, That Guy With The Glasses is a whole different thing
OMG I can `t believe that i just completely had forgotten about this movie, even thou i used to watch it with my mom in a loop for probably months or a year, as a kid. Damn guys! thanks for bringin back so many good memories!
it's funny because I knew harry and the hendersons as a TV show, and I wasn't sure if it was a movie.
Love this series guys!
Also speaking of the amazing John Lithgow, I've never heard you guys talk about his break-out performance in the very very weird Raising Cain, which is an early 90s time-capsule to be sure. Would love to hear you guys review that one!
Raising Cain was great but if he had a breakout role I'd say it was as Rev. Shaw Moore in Footloose
That krull vhs makes me wonder whatt next ep might be
That sequence from "The Twilight Zone: The Movie" played at 22:05 with Harry replaying the gremlin cracked me up after seeing it! XD
Hey guys review Stand By Me. Edward Scissorhands. Weird Science. The Lost Boys.
No, they should review 1986's Solarbabies!
Smooth Tommy Vermooth who's rule is it that the movies have to obscure, or so bad that they are good? Hush
Private resort, hehe
This was great, you guys are getting super good at these sorts of videos, I love the retro ad for the t-shirt at the end too
Trinity Killer
What I love about this vhs series is I have actually seen all of these movies but after all of these years I kinda forgot about them, thank you for bringing back the memories!
please do Flight of the Navigator
The only thing I remember from Harry and the Hendersons is that a school friend randomly used to have a pencil case with the logo and the main characters printed on it. He didn't even watch the movie, but I was intrigued by it.
Do Little Monsters
Underrated movie
I swear I saw the DVD cover for this movie everywhere when I was a kid. Now it’s come full circle.
I grew up in the 80's and 90's and was the opposite...had no idea the series I saw several episodes of was based on a movie. Hell, I thought it was a knockoff of ALF.
Great work guys! Really love the dynamic of the group!
It's all about the tv show.
Without the movie we wouldn't know where or how they got him.
I thought I would find a comment by you here. Nice! :-D
That was awesome editing pal. Intro takes back 80s and 90s vibe.
Make a review from the mommy and daddy section.
What do you think this is? The cinema snob?
Why would you want them to talk about a random porno movie...?
Dude, I'd love to see a Brad Jones/James Rolfe crossover. Brad already did the Super Hornio Bros movie, but surely there's some Castlevania porno or something out there.
I wonder if James actually has a porno collection behind those curtains...
Glad you guys are still reviewing movies I grew up with.
John Lithgow such an amazing actor
He's got pep
They filmed the scene where the news interviewed the bicyclist about "being attacked by Harry" 1 block away from my house growing up. It was on my birthday so me and my buddies walked down and watched them film the scene. My mom has a picture of John Lithgow waving at her! Always had an attachment to that movie in part because of that! Great movie.
I remember this film it was very funny to my opioion
Sounds like a Blockbuster commercial.
“You guys want to chit chat about ... “ 🤣🤣
Encino Man next?
NO WEEZING THE JU-UICE!!!
This was my favourite movie as a kid. Not sure when I read that, but the pencil portrait the father does of Harry is actually the original design Rick Baker had done for the creature. They just loved it and decided to include it in the movie itself because it had such a gentle expression.
like, you know, like, it's a fun part like, when Harry like, smiles like, so happily like, he really like, likes it
big fan of the series (mainly due to James) but, could you please try not to abuse the "likes"?
Our Drive-in "The Mustang" played this on one screen and Predator was playing on the other screen. The same actor in two movies at the same time on screen in full costume. I had no idea who he was and now I do. I had a kick ass childhood.
Could you please do a Rentals Review of the Jean Claude Van Dam classic "CYBORG" in all its 80's glory??
Great movie.
Finally, an epic review for an epically nostalgic movie; so many memories from the film!
I saw that copy of Krull sitting there the whole time. Don't tease us!
Lovin' this new series, you guys have great chemistry. Keep 'em comin'!
For peak immersion , set the video quality to *144p* ..
*240p* for you rich fellas ..!
144p for dial up, 240p for ISDN lines.
Ahh, back in the day when "PG" meant "John Lithgow gets to say 'shit' a few times"
