    Craftsman Garage Circuit Board: amzn.to/3HyedgV
    Craftsman Garage Remote Control: amzn.to/3ENfBu7
    Craftsman Garage Keypad: amzn.to/31lsf64
    I recently ran into a problem with my Craftsman garage door opener where it opens like normal when I use the remote. But for some reason it won't close. Eventually I identified the issue and my problem was fixed with a new circuit board. In this video, I'll show you how to remove and replace the circuit board.
    First, unplug the motor. But before doing anything else, take a picture of the wiring and control settings for later reference. Ok now take out the light bulb and unscrew the wire terminals to loosen them up. Then take out the 4 screws holding the control panel to the motor housing.
    Gently pull the wire connector from one side then the other until it slips off. All I have to do is swap the circuit boards and the problem is solved. First I'll remove the 5 screws that hold the circuit board onto the original faceplate. This is really easy to do and all you need is a Philips screwdriver. Then take note of the wire colors and then unplug the spade connectors on the light socket. Doing this completely detaches the board from the faceplate.
    Now I'll just repeat the same process on the replacement part. All I really need is the circuit board. After the screws are out, I'll have to disconnect the remaining 2 wires. Now it's time to put the new circuit board into the old faceplate.
    At this point, I can just go ahead and reverse the entire process. Take the 5 screws from earlier and use them to secure the board in place. I hope you're able to see how easy this repair is. Now compare the blue adjustment dials and set the new board exactly the same as was on the old board. After this, the assembly is complete!
    Reattaching the faceplate to the motor housing is easy. As far as the screws go, the shorter ones go up on top and the longer ones go on the bottom. And please watch the entire video because towards the end I'll show you how to reprogram the wireless remote and keypad.
    When the faceplate is secured, refer to the picture you took earlier to help reconnect everything to the terminals exactly like before. Last thing to do is screw in the light bulb and plug the garage door opener back in.
    Because this is a new circuit board the wireless remote needs to be reprogrammed. Here's how to do it. Locate and press the sync button once on the motor housing. With the LED lit up, press and hold one of the buttons on the remote until the light bulb blinks once. That means programming was successful. And now my wireless remote will be able to open and close the garage door.
    Now let's get the keypad programmed. Start by pressing the sync button on the garage door opener. Now type in a 4 digit PIN number and press and hold the Enter button. The garage door opener will blink once. Then press the Enter button on the keypad again and then the door will operate like normal.
    And even though the remotes now work, you'll also have to reprogram the garage buttons in your car in order to sync them. I have video tutorials for my cars but you'll need to consult your owner's manual for the vehicles you own. Thank you for figuring out that the LED light was interfering with the signal. I had the same issue and couldn't figure it out until I saw your video. Not all LED bulbs cause this problem. I had one LED bulb that caused the issue, while a different brand did not. I really appreciate finding your video.

    Thank you so much for this video. My garage would close but wouldn’t open and would make a clicking sound on the motor. I moved the wire like you did and it worked!

    Thank you for uploading the video. It helped me a lot. I ordered a circuit board from Amazon and replaced it. But programming the remote control was not working. Finally I figured out that the ladder I’ve been using to manually open my garage door blocked the sensor. That’s why I was not able to program the new remote control.I thought I had to return the product or call the repairman.

    I had the same problem but couldn’t figure it out till I watched your video. My old Craftsman opener works fine with wall console. It also works with keypad or remote control for opening the door but not closing it. I didn’t associate that problem with the light on. After watching your video and when I tried to turn off the light, the keypad worked. Thanks a lot for sharing! Now I have to find a Circuit Board for the old Craftsman opener which is not easy.

    I had no idea led bulbs could interfere with the remote signal. I had recently replaced my bulbs with led. When I went back to incandescents, everything worked as before. Thanks for the tip.

    • @digitalcamproducer
      @digitalcamproducer  Рік тому

      Yeah LED bulbs emit some sort of interference that can mess with the signal from the remote. It doesn’t affect all garage motors but simply switching to incandescent bulbs are a good way to test it.

    Worked like a charm! You mentioned in the video the real symptom for the door not opening with the remote was when the light(s) were on but it worked when the light(s) were off. You should add that information as the symptom to the text description. It really is crazy why the light(s) being on or off would affect the ability of the remote control(s) to open the the door.

      That is a good idea about adding the line about garage not working while light is on. I just didn’t know if people realized the light was causing the problem. It took me quite awhile to figure out why my garage door opener only worked some of the time. Initially I didn’t associate it with the light at all. So thanks for this!

      @@digitalcamproducer Yeah it took me about three months to figure it out after trying all the most obvious solutions, e.g. new remote battery, new remote, different electrical outlets, checking safety sensors, etc. (LOL)

    I noticed there was about a five minute delay and then the remotes would work again. You nailed it, the light is on for about five minutes and when it goes off, all works fine! Nice job troubleshooting!

    • @digitalcamproducer

      Yeah! It took me awhile to figure out that the problem was related to the light being on. I was on the verge of calling a repairman myself because I couldn’t figure it out at first. If you are having this issue from using LED bulbs, once you change back to incandescent or CFL bulbs, you will probably need to reset the garage door opener by unplugging and then plugging back in. This worked for me.

    If not the LED bulb issue, you can fix the circuit board by replacing the large aluminum electrolytic capacitor. Like 5 bucks for 5 470uF 50V I found on Amazon.

    • @digitalcamproducer
      @digitalcamproducer  4 місяці тому +2

      I think the flashing is an error code. It’ll be a number of flashes with a short pause. For example 3 blinks then pause. And I found the following page that explains what each error code means: www.searspartsdirect.com/diy/error-codes/garage-door-opener-repair/1234637/craftsman-garage-door-opener/0247

      So I’ll check those links out soon, but I had in the meantime sort of fixed the issue by pulling on the dangling rope cord thing then reset it and that got it working again! However the old metal suspension frame broke on one side so now it’s sagging on one side but still working so I obviously need to fix that very soon. But, the light is still blinking so I’ll have to check those links out 👍🏻
