As a duo, makes sense that they would’ve been call-and-responding between each other with the two main synth chords. That phase-flangey dub chord sound is my favourite kind of ear candy. To me though, with this track and some other Basic Channel recordings, they never brought it far enough out in the mix. Favourite artists that come to mind who do use dub chords to beautiful effect are Thomas Fehlmann and Jon Hassal, particularly on his album Maarifa Street, it’s just musically astounding.
i think the bass is a filtered 909 tom. i think a lot of the pattern changes you identify are just them fiddling with the delay sends. like i think the green to pink transition is just him turning up the delay send and i think some of the further fiddling is just him turning up the feedback on the delay unit itself. the swirly element is like a phased pad i think. the glass synth is more mysterious to me! maybe some sort of yamaha fm synth?? unless it’s just some subtractive synth with just a tiny amount of attack on the filter + phaser. i left a comment about their equipment on your other basic channel video!!
We are on the same wavelength 😂 I don’t know if he will. I make music and I am looking into working on the signature kick. You know the song smile? I am going to try and make it. My advice, try to turn noise into music. Make a really quite mix so compression sounds good
@@BarryTheElephant Thanks for checking, but I doubt it's just D Major - but even if so the voicing would've been interesting. In his video Alex seems shows a certain voicing. Not sure if he went as far as trying to figure that out properly as well.
Did the basic channel guys do this track by tweaking analog gear in real time, or do you think they laid it out in a computer and added the fills and volume fades ect.?

thank you so much for this bless you
Such a beautiful track
Amazing, bruh! How about Rhythm & Sound breakdown?

you should do a breakdown of basic channel - enforcement, that's their best track
What you did was just amazing! Never imagined it could be reproduced on a computer…
I didn't reproduce it - I just mapped out midi so I could talk about arrangement
Thanks king. 🤴
Hey man, great work. Harmony breakdown would've been nice as well, hearing the chords that you think were playing.
Chordify indicates it’s just a D Major triad. The rhythm and FX are mostly what make it sound elusive.

analog gear in real time
can you do Leon Vynehall - Mothra?
Noob here but did you start from an audio file and decomposed it into the midi notes being played? How did that happen?
Came here because I was hoping you would explain how you re-created that signature chord sound. Disappointed you didn't.
