This a what a genius is like on the decks. An absolute legend & pioneer of techno. His skills as a proper DJ are undeniably the best in the business. His hands are working so fast that his brain must be way ahead of what he’s doing. Simply fantastic. WIZARD. ✌️🙌✌️
This is the best of dance music........the peak in all its beauty, wonder and energy. Not even Jeff himself can repeat this nowadays. This is a document for all of time
Jeff Mills, the master of Techno. Look at his amazing mixing skills. Most djs these days couldn't even mix this fast with cd's or mp3's. True legend, pioneer of electronic music. Check out his waveform transmission albums!
jeff’s shiteating grin at 5:10 when he drops “changes of life” makes my heart swell with joy every time i watch this clip. an artist, a genius, an almost messianic figure at the peak of his powers, splattering those warbley sickly piano stabs on harsh metal like the most beautiful bird on the windshield of a souped up impala going 120 on the autobahn. god bless you jeff mills. live long and prosper
J'y étais à cette soirée de malade au cherry, je venais découvrir Jeff...J'avais acheté les cassettes de la soirée(que j'aies encore d'ailleurs), mémorable!!!!!
To clarify some incorrect information posted in these comments, "The Bells" was not recorded in 1997. It was perhaps given the name "The Bells" in 1997 however, from around 1994, when Mills began playing it, the track was simply known as "Untitled A" and is credited as such on "Live At The Liquid Room."
Sonik21 www.mixtapes.be/1993-10-22-oktoberhallen-wieze-the-rave-explosion-part-iii-djs-the-source-live-jeff-mills/ Jeff mills plays after 32 minutes btw. I posted this link before but I couldn't see my comment unless I'm logged into my youtube channel. Hopefully it gets noticed by replying to you sry.
KILLING IT!! I've been very fortunate to see him many times in the '90's at parties around Europe (In particular around the Netherlands).. Always knew when he was playing; his style is so distinct!! Never disappointed, always creative, and pedal to the metal! A setlist for this video would be awesome!! But, does anyone know the track he plays after Boris Schmidt's "Plot ii"?? Knockin' my socks off; really would love to know what track that is!!
There are still real DJs (and there always will be), it's just that you won't find them in Mixmag top 10 DJs or whatever. You'll definitely find them underground, though.
@@BeatBandit77 Yep. Maybe a bit too fast, but it was the trend to pitch everything up back then. Whatever happens the tunes were much better (in my opinion) whether they were fast or slow. Unfortunately, the minimal (boring yawnfest) side of things took over shortly after this and has never really looked like it's gone away. I like the hard, madder stuff though. It has true gusto and feeling :-)
@@tnt90s There's only one thing to comment: I agree totally in everything you wrote. I also can remember that most of the finest harder tracks in the mid 90s were pitched up to +6/+8. Mostly I was a little bit sad about that, because in my opinion that awesome tracks had lost a little bit of their groove then, but this is a question of everyones personal taste of harder Techno sounds! ;) So far I can remember, we called it Roadrunner-Techno... I'm from Germany, and my homebases in this area were Warehouse/Cologne (the old one) and Omen/FFM.
Unbelievable how 'fast' he mixes one record into another. Sick legend but very harsh on his records lol, look how he literally throws it at his recod bag at 6:16.
Saw him 1999 on a "Psycho Thrill" - Party at ArtTheatre in Cologne and there he was giving away a lot of records he played before. -Very nice give-aways! ;) So, don't worry - I think he has for sure a plenty of copies of the records he plays.
Some guy has recently uploaded a high quality version of this set on mixcloud. www.mixcloud.com/sebastiano-dosi/the-source-live-jeff-mills-laurent-garnier-rave-explosion-iii-wieze-22101993-part-1/ There's a part one and two to this, part one there's a dj that precedes Jeff, and Laurent Garnier plays after Jeff in part two. I suspect there's still a part of this set missing, but I was surprised to find a version of a higher quality than the one that already exists, I remember when I couldn't find this on the internet at all.
Heyyy i'm the uploader. LDJM on mixcloud has recently uploaded another version of this Rave Explosion III mix, which features Jeff's complete set. Me and a few technoheads have been trying to id all the tracks in the mix, we got at least 90% of them. You can check that on the relative mixesdb .com page.
@amstelredamme new for me 1990 ...i well check ...thers also a other video from this moment , event with good soundquality where you can see me filming Jeff Mills , filmed by Seal Phuric the ambient producer ....but this video is still not online ....
There were always bad DJs. And to be completely honest, in all of the events I've been to in a really long time, I hadn't heard a _really_ bad DJ. I do hand pick my events, though. And there's still many visionaries and DJs/live acts pushing the art (look at what Chris Liebing is doing, KiNK, James Zabiella). In all honesty, I've never liked the music better than now, and I've been going to parties for 15+ years. Nostalgia is a tricky thing, and it's really hard to objectively view the past.
TEchno isnt dead but nowadays it looks like house at higher bpm's. The great techno years were from 1993 to 2001. Great partys then and great sound. Now techno has no agressive punch. Looks almost like baby music :s
@roberspcksan : It means for me that Jeff Mills had created the track " The Bells " well before his official release in 1996. The vinyl which it plays has to be a only copy to the world. He is moreover color "gold" ! :)
The concept of a DJ has definitely changed, but the concept of a good and talented DJ has stayed exactly the same. Someone with their finger in the air pressing buttons on a keyboard playing bad music is not a good DJ. He might call himself a DJ, but he's definitely not one, especially not a good one. And it's my opinion that electronic music is currently the best and most creative it has ever been. It has definitely changed and evolved, though. But of course, agree to disagree.
Real dj, with 100 full concentration all the set. No the djs of today all the set drinking and hands up

I remember that set like it was yesterday! I was just behind him having a talk with Claude Young and K-Hand! :-D Fabulous night!
Jeff Mills, the master of Techno. Look at his amazing mixing skills. Most djs these days couldn't even mix this fast with cd's or mp3's.

This is how I spend the 90s. A truly amazing time to be alive. No camera phones, the happy, no pretense vibe. And of course the pills were great too.
ChromiaKK The track he's playing on not just one, but 2 decks (to remix it magnificently) is D.N.A. by Jeff Mills
I was here :)
17 years old...

He was a real techno machine.. was big fan
Jeff Mills, king of techniks !!
The absolute Blueprint for a Techno Deejay. Today's Techno Deejay charlatanism is an insult ;)
Nostalgia!!!! :(....but Mr. Mills is still one of the best of all time!!
Now THAT is techno!
Mills how he used to be, circa 1993, Lost @ the Vox, Brixton. So many f**kingly stupid awesome times.
this is a REAL Rave Explosion !!!!!

he is the best. 3:20 on is skills, no one could pull it off, sure they could mix it but wouldnt ave the same energy!
Almost forgotten how hard he used to play! These were the days :-)
... hard and fast -sometimes a little bit to fast (for me) maybe... -but never to hard! :)

Thanx for this great moment of good music!!!
Just find the right people, the right party and you can have the same sick parties as back in the days.
Yeah Jeff had a gold disc of The Bells for himself only for years before it was released!
The track`s called "D.N.A." from the " Waveform Transmissions Vol 1" album.
Some guy has recently uploaded a high quality version of this set on mixcloud.

Wow, he's so fast. I'd be tired in a minute :-)
se escucha de pena, pero lo que se escucha es mejor que lo de hoy en dia.
En el 93 agradece que se escuche... En el 2010 tenía un LG recién comprado y los vídeos se veían y escuchaban peor que esto...
True handcraft... Like watching sports
Thanks man!!!
it's because mills haven't released the bells at that time but he has produced it
excellent!
