So glad Flood lore is back! I hope 343 will canonically add them into the next Halo installment. As a question, ever think of doing Halo power rankings or vs battles, like for instance who would win Arbiter or Atriox?
they should make a remake of profound significance-- NOT like Halo CEA with literally... TOO MANY LIGHTS KILLING THE ATMOSPHERIC PRESENCE of potential alien life. Meaning, that Halo CEA2 or 3 should be focused on the same elements..... but with more realism. Take example of UE5. All they would have to do is: rewrite the story elements again, changing nothing except the prettier graphics. And as a personal preference: LASO is dead and needs a MAJOR update: crafting system, marine mode (in the same mode), take away only Iron skull and please make the game MORE horrifying. Bloody death screen, shattered HUD death, tips on how to survive death screens, etc.!!!
@@tylerjohn4607 No. All of halo needs to be rewritten. It is not scary, they tried too hard with wars 1 & 2 and became dead too quickly: H5G is not even a game bc of multiple flaws: not scary, and mostly tedious! Am I wrong? HI was okay... except for tediousness.
Pretty awesome. I think it’s cool some are based on actual Bungie made and cut content. I always assumed in Origins I it was artistic liberty through Cortana since later she says “I can only guess at some of this” or something to that effect. Much like the older looking art work on Attack on Titan. The basics are there but with a touch of added flair.
Your very fortunate that the 3 laws of robotics exists. Any Halo infinite NPC hooked up to the internet that saw this would have done whatever they could to kill you.
I’m pretty certain that the Flood Transport Form inspired the Halo Wars 2 Spawner Form. The Flood Infector Form inspired the Flood Infester Form, and the Seeder Infectors!
I love that every video hiddenXperia asks us who are new to subscribe hes finds a different way to say it every video he says it your my favourite youtuber hiddenXperia thank you for the years of entertainment
The interesting thing about the Stealth form. It looked like it could pick up and use weapons. Imagine something outside the combat forms that could do that.
What would be even scarier to see happen is a grave mind using the legolo and the grunts as cattle letting them get to a sertin number then using them to make more pure forms and established proto/grave minds
My understanding was that 343 had, in fact, addressed the "keymind" thing when they said that a Keymind (old definition) was a Flood form so massive and so intelligent that it defied all other classification besides just "keymind" (new definition)
It’s a shame they changed the term for Keyminds the old version was so much cooler. The concept of something many many times larger and more intelligent than Graveminds is so intriguing.
Imagine the collective consciousness of the flood questioning itself if what it's doing is correct or wrong, then it would maybe think of the original goal unedited goal of the actual precursors, but then it begins disagreeing with itself, then somehow splitting against itself and fighting with humanity and the swords of sangheilios against it's next uprising...would it be stupid or fucking cool?
It’s an interesting concept but due to the way the Flood thinks as a Hive-mind, I don’t think it’s possible. The Flood would essentially need to have two different Graveminds both developed separately from each other choose two different courses of action and refuse to compromise on them, leading to a split within their local forces. But because all Flood’s minds are synchronized with each other (including Graveminds) that’s not possible within the lore. Not only that, but think of how hard it would be to differentiate friend and foe Flood forms from each other on the battlefield from the player’s perspective?
Incredibly stupid, I'm sorry to be blunt. All flood exist within the consciousness of the grave mind, and before a gravemind is established, all the flood know are consume and compile. Absolutely feral instinct, no opportunity for "reflection" or "betrayal".
9:58 imagine if we got to see these Flood transports. They could be akin to the sentinel enforcer and maybe have a shield generator that works sporadically due to age/damage. On Legendary the shield would always be on and at full charge of course
Imagine a Keymind or other Flood organism that would be the result of the Flood consuming an entire galaxy worth of biomass. Also, the Flood Bangers kind of seem like the Floods take on the Tyranid Spore Mine from Warhammer 40k.
omg love the addition of dead space for the keymind descriptions! /pos i am a fan of both the series. also i remember being sad that keyminds became canon limbo, so im glad youre talking about it here.
A canpaign that focuses on the forerunners AND the Flood would be cool! Seeing them battle eachother like you see the enemies fighting eachother in halo 4. Seeing groups of sentinels swarming huge flood forms
Bro guys I just realized something and came up with a little theory, so you guys notice how the different species in halo represent different types of animal life? The brutes: primates , the elites: reptiles, the grunts: crustaceans, the drones: insects, the skimmers: cephalopods, the jackals: avians, and the hunters: invertebrate. I guess the flood count as fungi too. Also humans are also primates I think which is interesting too, my theory is that the primordial or the forerunners or maybe both sort of , planned this out and how each different thing would get a sentient species. I know about one species in the covenant fringe that’s like some kind of water one so maybe that falls into amphibian idk. What do you guys think of my mini theory?
Hidden, last i checked a Keymind pre-retcon was an entire ecosytem consumed BUT its primary purpose was to increase the raw computational power of the gravemind itself. I dont think it was ever specified in the old lore that a keymind was a gravemind that outgrew its planet because as far as we know, in spite of the 7 (proto?)Graveminds that existed on Zeta during the forerunner flood war, there has only ever been one singular gravemind intelligence i.e. the primordial and then the subsequent gravemind post-entropy.
I don’t see any reason why the Infector form couldn’t take over and control a Scarab. So rather than a literal scarab-sized flood form, it would be a massively altered piece of Covenant tech. I can imagine plenty of different really cool ways the flood could alter that tech to be really unique. And also huge and terrifying lol
i like how because we never see a keymind in any pieces of halo media, people use brethren moons for pictures of keyminds because of the fact that the description of a keymind is somewhat similar to a brethren moon
Really hoping more flood content comes back to Halo. I'd also love to see a video about the change in ONI leadership from Admiral Parangosky to Admiral Osman and what that might mean for ONI's future operations!
proposed head canon suggestion, classic keymind could be the name that the entity used to refer to itself, which happen to be a network of planet sized graveminds, basically can make it Keymind with a capital K
On the subject of the varied flood forms shown in Origins, I'm reminded of a halo comic I once read (cant remember what its called) that also showed a large variety of flood forms not seen in any other halo media. It also reminds me of some of the forms shown in the Mona Lisa movie. I personally believe that this extremely varied interpretation of the flood is actually the canon interpretation, but in the games, the devs are limited in the variety of flood forms they can put into the game. To put it another way, I think every flood form is actually completely unique, but this can't be captured in the games because of deadlines, limitations, and gameplay purposes. This IS captured in animated media because animators and illustrators have more freedom to branch out designs, without worries of tech limitations and gameplay balance. I also really like the kind of narrative this creates about the flood supercell itself, is each unique flood form a work of art by the supercell, designed with care and efficiency, or is each form a haphazard amalgam, not designed but rather twisted into a random shape?
These capabilities and strengthening adaptive buffs is what makes the Flood far far superior in tactics, strageies, speed, strength, and knowledge then the Tyranids in Warhammer 40k could ever be even with the Moon Tyranid.
Dude were from a different generation for sure, i will never forget in 2001 i was 6 years old and my parents (divorced/military dad) never let me play fps games so 2002 i was 7 and i first time played halo at my friends house and eventually found the flood in combat evolved and now im turning 30 and at my job i have apprentices that have no clue about any of it 343 screwed the pooch in more ways that we think
Okay so I know what the flying infection forms are. I remember reading something way back in the day about larval infection forms and after a bit searching I found it again. They don't have an actual name but are heavily implied to be an earlier stage of an infection form. You can see them in a tank in Halo 2 in one of the first arbiter levels. Halopedia calls them flood tadpoles. They do seem to be aquatic. But the flying part might be a sneaky reference to an instance where, according to halopedia, Vic DeLeon "broke" the forms making them float all around the room.
I would like to see how a flood infested unsc ship would look like, we have seen the covenant version but we have never gotten to a point of having a flood infested unsc ship (that is fully converted and used for transporting more flood)
Yeah the In Amber Clad is the closest example i can think of, and the exterior looks mostly the same as a normal UNSC ship, the pelicans that came from it were very clearly infected though. I always thought itd be cool to see what it was like in the streets of high charity when they flood crashed in the In Amber Clad
October was such a nightmare lol. I started looking at dementia and everywhere at the end of time. halo's smart ai and their rampancy and right when halloween came and went the release of that comic Saturn devouring his something made me go back and watch Captain Key's terminal. needless to say, i was seeing scary things. the way the flood is portrayed as gods or the corrupted remains of gods makes them even more scary. from what i have seen the precursors mastered their physical forms. they were higher dimensional beings. the lore leans heavily on some mystic powers. there is a philosophy known as anti-descriptivism. it argues that while the attributes of an object or concept exist without the name it is indistinguishable from anything else. the name ties it together. If our memories are what ties our very being together on a spiritual level, keys death becomes more horrifying. the flood was literally stripping his soul of all its existence.
Imagine if a Keymind from outside our galaxy suddenly appeared at Zeta Halo (the halo is broken, so it's not an immediate threat). I imagine it like Halo turning into a mix of the worm level from gears 2 and Scorn/Dead space. That's assuming chief would even survive that. It would have to break the lore for it to make sense cause there are flood forms way stronger than Atriox, and they attack in hordes, so how is chief or any spartan supposed to survive that for us to play through a game in this situation where the player character doesn't die at the end. That would be a galaxy ending scenario unless the halo array is fired resting the galaxy for a second time. I like to think there is more flood stranded on remote parts of the galaxy, stranded/floating through space in and outside the galaxy.
Love your lore videos. You should read us a halo novel I'm sure we would really enjoy it as your story telling is amazing. I find it relaxing listening to your lore videos
Theres a huge hole in potentail that 343 could stll use with the Flood... It would be a tricky thing to build it into the plot to GET us to there, but they could easily track a campaign that had you go into highly flood-infected space, or sneak in, or be tracking a special package, person, etc, that the flood has taken. As the flood is secure in their ways (super confident), theyd be under no rush to get this package there, leaving the player more time to track and follow to catch up. We could easily have a campaign of flood worlds, as we experience horrors, possibly find super-remote trapped troops, ships, etc, that we attempt to save, then have them join us, and sadly, eventually lose. The major deal would be that this would be hard to make a solo-campaign off this. It would definitely work bettwe as an odst-style campaign -- where you have periods where you MAY be solo, but for the most part, it is a TEAM effort. 343 is all about the multiplayer now. Why not make a campaign that, originally, works best as a team? You can play it solo, but your teammates would be AI-driven (think gears of war style)

@@JeffreyCurl-f3n Imagine if we got them to remaster Halo 3 and add Guardian Forest in between the levels The Ark and The Covenant
@@tylerjohn4607That literally ruins the point of the reference.
LMAOOOO "i hope 343 will canonicallly add them into the next Halo installment" WHEN 343 GAMES AINT CANON 🤣
Perfect timing man, I was looking for more halo lore to watch
I wouldn’t be surprised if a Blightstalker existed somewhere on the Halo Wars 1 Shield World, Trove.
it feels so good to have the good old flood lore back!
Hope you keep making videos like this ❤
I’m pretty certain that the Flood Transport Form inspired the Halo Wars 2 Spawner Form. The Flood Infector Form inspired the Flood Infester Form, and the Seeder Infectors!
I appreciate the use of the dead space* bretherin* moons for a type of imagery
Cortana: uh uhh no touching
Gravemind: hey lil mama let me whisper iambic heptameter in ya ear.
I love that every video hiddenXperia asks us who are new to subscribe hes finds a different way to say it every video he says it your my favourite youtuber hiddenXperia thank you for the years of entertainment
The flood, TLOU cordycepts and the infested from warframe are my absolute favorite undead designs in all fiction
Don’t forget the Taken and Scorn.
The Key Mind reminds me of what High Charity looked like in Halo 3 when it crashed into the ARK!
I'd like to wager that flood "banger" was a huge inspiration for the "screebs" found in Destiny.
My understanding was that 343 had, in fact, addressed the "keymind" thing when they said that a Keymind (old definition) was a Flood form so massive and so intelligent that it defied all other classification besides just "keymind" (new definition)
I was terrified of the flood as a child :)
Who wasn't?
Sheer ter.. you cant actually write the word on t, but yeah the Flood is the ultimate infection
I'm terrified of them as an adult
@@sporeham1674 wow
@@alphacraig2001plus I don’t think any race would allow themselves to be friends or allies with the flood. They couldn’t bear it
Flood Transporter reminds me of a Zombie Half-Track from Zombie Army 4: Dead War
Iconic flood video
11:45 the pure for on the middle left is a range form, the ones you fought in H3
I would love to see a flood form that is just fucking massive. Something on the scale of the Tyranid Hierophant Biotitan from Warhammer 40k
9:58 imagine if we got to see these Flood transports. They could be akin to the sentinel enforcer and maybe have a shield generator that works sporadically due to age/damage. On Legendary the shield would always be on and at full charge of course
I see "Flood", my brain goes "neuron activation"
7:21 so basically the hellion is also another version of the transport form(aka the giant stalker form)
6:15 That isn't the Gravemind, that is the UA-cam Algorithm.
So cool to see you referencing the Keymind to the Brethren Moons of dead space.. the flood and necromorphs are so cool imo
/pos
i am a fan of both the series.
also i remember being sad that keyminds became canon limbo, so im glad youre talking about it here.
I always wanted to see a keymind! Giant flood planet with tentacles moving across the sky, yeah it would be amazing.
i think a flood spin-off game would be cool. maybe play as one and be part of a hive or something.
Love some more Flood lore, and I really want to see all these forms in a future Halo game.
i like how because we never see a keymind in any pieces of halo media, people use brethren moons for pictures of keyminds because of the fact that the description of a keymind is somewhat similar to a brethren moon
Like water the flood ebbs and flows! Love the flood lore vids mate
Man, Halo Wars 2 really did go nuts with the new flood forms, shame 343 hates it
Really hoping more flood content comes back to Halo. I'd also love to see a video about the change in ONI leadership from Admiral Parangosky to Admiral Osman and what that might mean for ONI's future operations!
Im so glad you denotate the original keymind definition. Wish they would give it back
proposed head canon suggestion, classic keymind could be the name that the entity used to refer to itself, which happen to be a network of planet sized graveminds, basically can make it Keymind with a capital K
That flood creature that grabs the one forerunner and opens it's one massive eye is nightmare fuel for me
On the subject of the varied flood forms shown in Origins, I'm reminded of a halo comic I once read (cant remember what its called) that also showed a large variety of flood forms not seen in any other halo media.
Top tier vid. Reminds me of the classic vids from back in the day
I love the usage of The Brother-Moons as keymind images lol
These capabilities and strengthening adaptive buffs is what makes the Flood far far superior in tactics, strageies, speed, strength, and knowledge then the Tyranids in Warhammer 40k could ever be even with the Moon Tyranid.
"i want to see a scarab sized flood form boss battle" fam that is one the hottest sentences i've ever heard. IT MAKES ME MOIST. I NEED IT.
The brother moon from dead space you put in the thumbnail made me think about how similar the flood is to the necromorphs and markers from dead space.
The security cyborg of the Mjolnir Recon in Marathon would be a good candidate for taking on the Flood
old keymind lookin like the wrkaknt'r
Great video! Always love new flood lore. Still hoping for a video on the last two short stories on waypoint. Fingers crossed🤞
flood being the most deadliest and terrifying thing ever meanwhile Doomslayers laughing at everyone because theres nothing beating him
How cool would a Halo game be that revolves around a keymind becoming some sort of modern day precursor
I'm a simple man. I see Flood, I watch and like.
I reckon I could take them all in a fistfight.
If I was Master Chief.
Right off the bat, some sick clips of flood infestation.
I remember the video of the Juggernaut from Halo 2 from the Vengeful Vadam Halo 2 Uncut mod for MCC. I lovee fighting the Juggernaut in his mod!
Clicked faster than a single flood spore can destroy an entire planet
6:10 this should be the case and also just makes sense considering how advanced and powerful the precursors were (are).
Thank you for reminding me that Halo with its Flood did Bloodborne level snominstions befote Bloobborne was a twinkle in anyone's eye
You gotta love the use of brethren moons as keyminds lol
I want an entire Halo game where you fight the Flood.
In a hand-to-hand confrontation, I'm 30% sure I could beat a flood spore...on a good day.
Love your lore videos. You should read us a halo novel I'm sure we would really enjoy it as your story telling is amazing. I find it relaxing listening to your lore videos
Bruh, me and Hidden were both thinking of wanting a Scarab sized flood pureform fight. :D
We kinda got that flood controlled vehicle in wars 2, as in the flood DLC there were SEVERAL types of vehicles overtook by biomass
