It’s a shame Jimmy had too much ideas that were fun for Tranzit but had to be cut because of the tech along with Tranzit having massive cut content.
Jimmy, on his way out, still gave us one more banger in Buried and proved he's still got it. It's a shame that was the last map in his sort of style but I'm glad at least that the public reaction to Tranzit and Die Rise didn't end up being his legacy.
Man, I used to play the crap outta those old Spiderman games. I had no idea Treyarch made those. At that time I didn't care about who developed anything I watched or consumed. Funny how times have changed.
This was and will be my favorite video essay/retrospective on a game/s I’ve played every year since my childhood by far. Great video man very informative and entertaining
Said zombies turned WAW from a 20 hour game to a 30 hour game. Meanwhile i put at least 200 hours into this game in between doing the campaign 4-5 times, multiplayer for at least 50 hours. And over 100 hours in zombies. As a kid i got this game just for zombies and got all the dlc. COD3 got me into cod but cod4 and WAW made me truly fall in love with the series when i was a kid. I have over 2000 hours on the series but almost all of it stops after bo2
Yep cod died after bo 2 no one could come up with anything creative and fun and they always re hash the same ass ideas like why not use Vietnam as an actual plot in one of the games the Korean war go further back to the civil war just try something interesting I mean we need something different and actually atmospheric again like world at war but this stupid Hollywood hype shit just ruins anything remotely jaw dropping or shocking cause cod is trying to compete with Fortnite when it shouldn't need to I don't want Teletubbies or grimace running around in my gulf war or Vietnam or world war 2 game but here we are it's offensive to have Nazi symbols show actual horrors of war blood and gore like fuck it's M rated why the fuck are we catering to young children like does anyone remember no Russian

Jason Blundell likely left mid-late 2019, there were rumours that Jason had left right before the release of Alpha Omega, and given that he did not appear in any of the marketing or live streams that 3ARC did during that era to promote their content updates, it's more likely than not that he left long before CW was actively being developed by Treyarch.

1:40:35 You are 100% right on gamers not caring for the MW setting. I came in a bit late into COD. I Got a PS3 slim in high school and uncharted came included with it. That was my first action game with guns and when I saw the trailers for BO1 it looked so balls to the wall that I got my sister to buy it for me. I played the single player multiple times and I had NO idea that the prison segment or ship segment was scripted because I'd be immersed as hell. If I played that today I know I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much because of the restrictions but wow man. This is such an amazing video. Not done with it yet but this video is longer than the new COD campaign and I am enjoying it.
I started watching this as it was recommended to me on my home page because i love treyarch and their cod games. Then, 20 mins in, i saw you only had 200 subs! Man, I'm blown away. This video is awesome. Keep up the work, and you'll grow so quickly.
@@Keenuk-_- i was watching something and passed out, woke up to this a hour later, and have no idea what I was watching that brought me here but stayed awake to watch this amazing video! Lol

You got my sub homie!! BO 2 and buried is one of my all time favorites!! I still play it to this day on Xbox! Your video editing was Faqking amazing and perfect! You deserve to be at 400k subs! The zombies music is so dayum iconic I absolutely love it! There’s nothing like loading up zombies and hearing that eerie yet exciting music
Thanks, this means a lot! That’s why I’m spending months on that infinity ward video Buried is so underrated… and I’m glad to see fellow Black Ops 2 fans unite here. Legit might be my favorite COD.
As someone who basically buys COD only for the Zombies, it's interesting hearing the perspectives on Campaign and Multiplayer for these games, there's a ton of depth and detail in this video and I'm insanely impressed! I do find a few of your Zombies takes interesting. I hold BO1 as my favorite, and can do prefer the simpler, more challenging maps, that like you said, don't require you to look up youtube tutorials for. You say you appreciate zombies not being easy, but, praise Ascension, which to me was the easiest map until it was remastered in BO3. Huge amounts of space so you don't get cornered, the Thundergun being incredibly safe and reliable, Gersh Devices being super strong and easy to use, really just the monkeys make it somewhat challenging. But then you also say Shangri La is the worst BO1 map, while imo, it embodies that old school challenge that's really lost on modern Zombies, it doesn't give you free space to run, the Wonder Weapon is one of the greatest ever, however it isn't a save me gun like the Thundergun, it requires thought. And the boss zombies are both challenging, and rewarding, being able to manipulate them to the player's advantage if they play smart. It can definitely be overwhelming at first, and a lot of people don't want to put the effort into learning it since it's so hard.
Treyarch will always be the better studio cuz they perfectly encapsulate what CoD should be, a fast paced arcade shooter as the core, with a quasi-realistic cover
Cod 3 will always hold a special place in my heart for being my first online cod game after playing black ops 1 combat training with still having memories of the town map with the farm and the one with a broken bridge Also the reason why Bo1 ending seemed over the top, rushed and super happy because of the twist at the very end where it's revealed that Mason killed JFK and the villain actually won.
World at war was my favorite cod because of the ability to do 2 player campaign. Something about playing a fresh campaign with your little brother just hits different
@@AppreciationCulture that’s love bro ❤️. I have his flag and metals in a glass case in the house. The mission where you blow up the bridge to stop the tanks from advancing. He really did that. Crazy stuff. I’m honestly shook they made cod 3 in only 8 months. Great video. I learned a lot. Love
Calling black ops 3 balanced is a wild take, I played that game for 3 years straight and I only saw the same 5 weapons. Oh, and BO4 was only supported for 8 months after release. Oh and calling the BO4 maps better than BO3 is wild to me, I like both main Devs of zombies, but there's an objectivity in everything and you should acknowledge that. Not that I'm saying your opinion is wrong or invalid, I'm saying you should reinforce your taste for simpler zombies when relevant, otherwise it seems like slander which could lead to unneeded contempt from the opposite opinion holders.
Bo4 maps and story sucked assssss compared to bo3 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 yh I knew he was gunna have some weird take on zombies when I heard him say he didn’t like Jason who like the entire zombies community loves for the ether/ultimus storyline
@@yaboiapathy2026 love the pfp and love that you actually stuck through my conversation about the BO1 campaign… rather than hating me for critiquing the campaign and then stopping the video to hate on me even tho I literally talk about how it’s one of the best cods/cod campaigns out there by the end of the section 🤣
Alex Mason is as impactful a character to me as Anakin Skywalker. First Modern COD i owned and played current online, lot of nostalgia but after repurchasing a ps3 and discs and reloading game, yeah, its still amazing. I loved it being my first COD in that exact fact that you highlighted of it being so simple with the "80's power character" energy, it was definitely a perfect start to getting into the genre! and because of the one track energy to this story, wheb i later bought world at war just to play story after it was long old, I was pleasantly surprised by all of the openness to the missions that you mentioned was a highlight to WAW. the one time playing a newer before wasnt actually worse 😂
Round of applause. A true authority on COD history imo. Never went in depth on my experience but your opinions are now mine entirely.. but I agree, Ascension was also my fav COD zombies map besides Der Eisendrache (and Kino). Also imo, Ghosts is severely underrated. Follow Main Results
2:37:00 you were pretty close, as you were dying on the operating table Taylor linked up with you and you saw all of his memories but all of the characters in his memories were replaced with people you knew, so everything you experienced in Black Ops 3 Taylor legitimately experienced as the player but all the characters names and faces were changed to people you had already met, every character you met in there is real but none of them did the things you saw them do those were actually other people from Taylor's past and you're basically just living his memories up to your first mission as you die, as a matter of fact in the Lotus Towers mission the guy you rescue in the very first mission is captured at the end of that mission has shown by some radio dialogue kind of showing you that it's just a cycle, and when Taylor is asked if he is still seeing Rachel and he says it didn't work out that's because Rachel was Kane, the very last mission in the game is the only mission in the game that's completely fictional that mission was specifically created by the dni to allow you to die peacefully as your memories were being absorbed into Taylor and you were reliving his memories, that's why kane contradicts her statement from the mission before about not wanting to be around you anymore, and that's why she also dies in The Mission that entire Mission with you going into the forest and cutting the heart is the dni creating an experience to allow you to peacefully die as you and Taylor are connected
When I first learned zombies was just a thing they wanted to try out and if it failed they would’ve been like “Eh it’s whatever” I was amazed especially seeing where it is now.
Love the video man, good quality. Was surprised to see this solid, quality video was made by a smaller/newer UA-camr. Earned a sub, keep it up man. Subs will go up in no time. Looking forward to more cod & gta retrospectives
I love black ops 3 because its take on the movement shooter, it felt like you really couldnt abuse it that much other than g sliding at launch. Its microtransaction practices were scummy but if you can ignore all that everything except the campaign is amazing. Zombies introduced fun unique wonder weapons that were easy enough to get, it also gave call of duty this other side to it, a side that was all about creativity and trying stuff out. It was probaby the biggest sandbox we ever had in a cod game
This was epic, I love all the old COD discussions. I think you might get better UA-cam metrics / algorithm push by breaking it up into smaller videos. Personally, I enjoyed the long format though. Thanks for a really cool video.
Black ops 4 in its prime was amazing, I had so much fun playing blackout and multiplayer with my friends. I even got my friend who hates cod to play black ops 4 for blackout and he loved it, as well as the multiplayer. Also I would argue we are still in the dark ages of cod.

Stay sleeping on CoD 3, Eder Dam and Merville were the best maps by far. There was even an elevator glitch on Eder Dam that gave me hours of fun to mess around with.
The campaign definitely was pretty interesting to me. I feel like it was a cool experiment at the time but they should’ve took it easy on the whole futuristic thing after that. Bo3, bo4, and IW were all pretty bad imo
Bo1 was my favorite campaign. Played it multiple times. It’s insanely restrictive. But the story was insane. Did Mason kill JFK? Who actually has mind control of mason. The commies or the actual CIA?
You had to be there to enjoy Call of Duty 3. That game was fun af with the big more realistic maps, big 12v12 battles.. capture the flag games would last hours. Class system was great I don’t see that as a copy of Battlefield, it’s a war game why wouldn’t there be a class system? There was a good community on there even up to 2018.. lots of good times.. besides World At War I feel that game actually felt like a big battle unlike future Call of Dutys after World At War..

Activision was throwing his ideas out the window as well which sucks cause we never got his fully realized vision.
Good video man I watched all the way through with no breaks and I was entertained the whole way through keep it up❤
This was and will be my favorite video essay/retrospective on a game/s I’ve played every year since my childhood by far. Great video man very informative and entertaining
@@Loafyx2 Never got around to responding to this! Thank you for the support, that means a lot!
Went to sleep while listening to this and had a dream I was being followed by you spitting exposition about COD the entire time
Said zombies turned WAW from a 20 hour game to a 30 hour game.
Yep cod died after bo 2 no one could come up with anything creative and fun and they always re hash the same ass ideas like why not use Vietnam as an actual plot in one of the games the Korean war go further back to the civil war just try something interesting I mean we need something different and actually atmospheric again like world at war but this stupid Hollywood hype shit just ruins anything remotely jaw dropping or shocking cause cod is trying to compete with Fortnite when it shouldn't need to I don't want Teletubbies or grimace running around in my gulf war or Vietnam or world war 2 game but here we are it's offensive to have Nazi symbols show actual horrors of war blood and gore like fuck it's M rated why the fuck are we catering to young children like does anyone remember no Russian
if you enjoyed ghosts give me a like 😕
9 likes vs 900k views sounds about right
i liked the campaign but the multiplayer was horrible
Ghosts was great the only people who hate it are those who were sh** at it lol! Had a 2.28 KD

I love your simplification of terminal “you run through in airplane, it’s fucking cool”

You gave me a good laugh with that last sentence and Uncharted is such a fantastic series. Thanks for the support!
I started watching this as it was recommended to me on my home page because i love treyarch and their cod games. Then, 20 mins in, i saw you only had 200 subs! Man, I'm blown away. This video is awesome. Keep up the work, and you'll grow so quickly.
Thank you for all the support, your comment means a lot!
I started watching this because I fell asleep while watching tigers vs lions I was wondering why I was having cod dreams😂

96K views and less than 500 subs, you have a special video happening here brother, your narration was perfect and said so much of what I didn’t realize I was Always thinking of these games band missions as well as game modes, well done!!

No one ever remembers that Treyarch made Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. Arguably one of the best stories from the whole game.
This retrospective was very well made and engaging. This must have taken forever to make lol thank you for your dedication.
Honestly an amazing video you deserve way more subscribers cause this has to be the best video ever summarizing all the cod games.
@@crewmat5013 We’ll get there! I appreciate the support!
Can’t wait for the Infinity Ward retrospective bro. Just started playing mw19 again and it’s so good. Very well done.
Realism mode was the most fun I’ve had with a COD in a long time, I’m with ya!
Your content deserves more love. Into gave me chills. But that song always does. Good job man 👍
Treyarch will always be the better studio cuz they perfectly encapsulate what CoD should be, a fast paced arcade shooter as the core, with a quasi-realistic cover
Cod 3 will always hold a special place in my heart for being my first online cod game after playing black ops 1 combat training with still having memories of the town map with the farm and the one with a broken bridge
Also the reason why Bo1 ending seemed over the top, rushed and super happy because of the twist at the very end where it's revealed that Mason killed JFK and the villain actually won.
"Your alarm is set 3 hours an 17 minutes from now"
World at war was my favorite cod because of the ability to do 2 player campaign. Something about playing a fresh campaign with your little brother just hits different
Took a nap, had a dream about being in kino, woke up and you were discussing kino… I think I found a new super power!😅🤣🤣🤣
I love the aesthetics of World at War, the missions in Stalingrad with an almost apocalyptic feeling, its so good, so good
My great uncle was Reed Nichols. The first main character you play as in COD 3. I loved that game so much. ❤ they told his story pretty good
Your great uncle is one of the OGs in the COD sphere! 🫡🫡🫡 salute this man!
Love
this is an amazing video! playing it in the background as i play games and you deserve having the algorithm bless you with all the views
Ghosts was when I stopped playing cod after playing for years. Came back during black ops 3 and advanced infinite warfare.
Pretty much the same for me aswell.

Nicely done retrospective. Love me some Treyarch CoD.

Black ops 4 in its prime was amazing, I had so much fun playing blackout and multiplayer with my friends. I even got my friend who hates cod to play black ops 4 for blackout and he loved it, as well as the multiplayer. Also I would argue we are still in the dark ages of cod.
