Back in 80s I knew an ex-Coast Guardsman who served in WWII. Since I was relatively new in CG, he confided that he was on a crew who landed Marines in the Pacific beach assaults. Interesting point - if a landing craft was shot up, disabled/sunk - then Coasties landed with Marines and fought with them. If a boat actually made the trip intact, the CG crew would be tasked with taking in another bunch. So if anyone challenges about CG in combat - educate them accordingly. Semper Fi - Semper Paratus.
Coast Guard was a BIG MISTAKE for me, and not because of anything I did, but because of being Central American, I was treated like a criminal and humiliated on a daily basis and called a drug smuggler, including by leadership. The Coast Guard is the least diverse service and pervaded with racism and discrimination. I suggest if you're a minority, specially hispanic, look to the Air Force or another branch...
I assume you’re a “victim crybaby”. You didn’t get what you wanted or babied so you cry race card. There are a lot of successful Mexicans, blacks, etc. leading in the coast guard. Look at the Company Commander everyone is terrified of. Just stop
RETIRED CG, BEST JOB I EVER HAD. LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

Wow I'm so proud of my husband for going through all that!
This is tougher than what I went through in 1982. I personally think tougher training turns out better quality Coast Guardsmen.

jay23cr The Air Force basically told me I’m too retarded to join, be better off to be a marine..I’m Latino or Hispanic whatever you want to call it.
Wow. I'm sorry your experience was bad. That's crazy.
How long ago was this?
