I can personally attest that this is 100% accurate. Our cutters have barely enough room for the crews themselves but we take very thorough measures to ensure our detainees and migrants are safe and cared for as best as we can manage.
Everyone I know in the Coast Guard joined to SAVE LIVES and help protect our nation from people who break our laws. We're not out there to make people suffer.
That and it’s not floating Hilton.
I can attest to that also as I get it first hand from my son in the coast guard. More than these drug runners deserve.

Well are you aware that roughly 0.8% of Americans consume cocain at least once a month? Combined with Canadians, which also receive their supply via the US there are basically 3.5 million monthly consumers. Thats a loooot. Additionally you have to adjust for losses in transportation.
Edit: The Daily Telegraph (UK newspaper) even estimates 2.3% of 16-60 year olds regularely consume cocain (3rd highest rate worldwide).
