Very very proud of you son and I hope you are incredibly proud of yourself too, what an enormous accomplishment graduating from Coast Guard basic training!!! My son just arrived at Coast Guard boot camp the night before last. I am worried sick for him but could not be more proud. I try very hard not to watch UA-cam videos to see how bad it really is there because as his mother, I would rather cut off my own arms and legs before knowing my son is suffering or in pain or being humiliated. I would go through every bit of this for any young person if I only could. Thank you for this information and keep posting anything Coast Guard related!!! I am staying away from those other videos though, too scary for me!!! LOL!!!
Man. It’s between CG, Army and Air Force for me. I’m thinking the army because I can choose my MOS, but Air Force gets you a good quality of life. Coast guards because I love working on the water. Can’t decide but in the meantime I’ll just study for my ASVAB
Oh God - Don't go in the army. Everybody I know who was in the Army says they have the oldest and worst of everything. The Air Force has the best of everything and the best quality of life. The Coast Guard has a fair quality of life but it's hard to make promotions at the upper ranks because the service is so small and the lifers stay forever so there's very little opportunity for advancement.
@@1notgilty…They’re lying to you…installations are old but equipment isn’t. Serve in the Corps they’ll sing a different tune…this generation is just a bunch of pansies…any reason to complain.
Bravo 192 here. Was Zulu 191 and got hurt and rephased to Bravo 192. I'm out now but can say the Coast Guard was one of the greatest experiences of my life so far. I loved it but just had other dreams. Best of luck to you. Enjoy every moment!
I'm a snipe right now, they got rid of the striker program for various reasons. The coast guard came out with RAP programs, which based on your quals as a non rate, you can go to a shortened version of A school. That program started with the BM rate, and if I remember correctly, the ME rate has one now. MK doesn't have one, even though we are a critical rate right now.
So sorry for all the questions but I’m super curious. What’s the covid restrictions now? Do you have to be vaccinated? Is there an option to just test every week instead? Do you wear masks during fitness?

Coast Guard has a good life
You can choose your job in the coast guard also you just need the asvab scores for it
You choose the mos for every branch as long as you have the asvab scores
