Thank you for sharing your story about your grandmother. You have my empathy. Steven Wilson is so good at evoking emotion. You should listen to The Raven that Refused to Sing by Steven Wilson next❤
dont worry dude. This one gets everyone. great reaction. i think you are ready for " the raven who would not sing". check that one out its also amazing.
No song has ever moved me in the way this does - every time! I'm left a blubbering wreck. And I can only imagine how this would be amplified if you can associate a personal memory to it. 🌹 The song itself is special, but the video just takes the whole artwork to a different level.
every single second of this song hurts deeply. i feel her pain in every cell and if i were her i would have jumped down the shore. susanne sundfor, when the lord. equally emotional, also a masterpiece. when the lord is a feature song for the documentary called self portrait about the live and work of norwegians leading fotographer lene marie fossen who suffered from anorexia since the early age of ten. if you want to treat yourself with the finest live performance of any artist i know, check out eivor with falling free at the old theater in tórshavn. she is probably the best female vocalist of our time. she is a classically trained sopran with a masters degree in traditional vocal techniques. lovely reaction by the way, i liked how you focused also on small details. well done.
Just caught you wth this song and the emotion it evoked within you. You used the word cherish and we all should hold dear our families. I'm a Papa at 70 years old and I speak to my parents every day', I loved your reaction. As for Steve fell out with him as he didn't play Glasgow on the last Tree tour. My daughter and I saw them 4 times up to 2006 in Glasgow when they were attracting a big following. The Raven is a super album but so are all theTree albums from Absentia to Fear of a Blank Planet. I'll ook forward to see if you have discovered ' Yes ' yet.
This song's an emotional wrecking ball, and i'm happy to see you connected with it. I did try and warn that tissues might be required 🙃 Ironically, Steven Wilson has an absolutely gorgeous song called 'Postcard' that'd make a good follow up to this one. Highly recommended. Tissues not required 🧐
You should listen to this whole album, Hand Cannot Erase. Before you do, research the true story that inspired Steven Wilson to create this masterpiece. Awfully awfully sad source material. Anyway, ty for sharing your reaction. Much respect!
Blimey, the onion ninjas are at it again aren't they? Seriously though, I was going to go to bed a couple of hours ago and I'm sort of glad I didn't. What can I say about this song and video? Well I was this many years old when I first heard Steven Wilson. This song and video are about as en pointe as you can get. Beautiful, beautiful video that reminded me of "Up" (the Pixar film about the little old man - I do love a well-made stop animation) and such an emotional song. I thought it was going to say that her son or husband (or all of them) were working on a lighthouse given the patterns on the children's bedding, but when I saw that newspaper headline too, the onion ninjas got me in the tear-ducts again (I wasn't knitting this time). It's when you see the words "School shooting" that you get smashed in the face with the meaning of it all. And the card. That little card. Jeeze. I just can't. And I know exactly where you're coming from with making sure to appreciate the smallest of things, right down to Christmas and birthday cards. I don't remember my last Grandma very much because she died when I was three, but I do still have the last cards from my parents. They went just under 18 months apart, with Mum first. It's so difficult to not wish that they were still around and It's just me and my younger brother left in our bit of the family now. If you fancy something totally different and from someone totally different, have a look at a couple of Pat Benatar songs/videos "Shadows of the Night" has a great story video that goes along with it and "Love Is A Battlefield" has a great, catchy song with a video that turns into a tonne of 80's cheese! No tissues needed with either of these two. Pat Benatar is one of my favourite female artists, along with Kate Bush, who also does fantastic song/video story combos.
Thank you for sharing your story Jean. I am sure that was tough to type up for up but thank you! Unfortunately I can't react to Pat Benatar as I am well aware of her and have heard a lot of her music!
He is simply a Genius…….no more to be said but loads to be listened to!

Thank you dude! If that one is half as emotional as this one, it will be another tears and snot filled video! 😂

If you want to react to something a bit more recent from SW then i would recommend 'Beautiful Scarecrow' and 'Economies of scale'.
