Great Reaction Marley! Two actors of note. First, Gary Sinise plays Burt Hammersmith, is a very nice guy in real life. Since he played Lt Dan in Forrest Gump, he has served our men in uniform through the Gary Sinise Foundation and his Lt. Dan Band. His 2019 Autobiography, "Grateful American" chronicles the life of a truly great man. I recommend you read that book in your spare time. Well worth it. He also co founded along with two other actors including Terry Kinney, the Steppenwolf Theater Company of Chicago in 1974. It graduated very famous stage and screen alumni including John Malkovich, Joan Allen and Patricia Heaton. If you want to see another film with him, I recommend "Ransom" a great 1996 suspense thriller. Sinise stars with Mel Gibson and Rene Russo. Next, Actor David Morse, who plays Brutus Howell in this film, also plays George Washington beautifully in The John Adams Miniseries alongside Paul Giamatti, who plays John Adams. A great miniseries to react to. Finally, if you loved this film and Shawshank, I think You will also like "The Majestic" with Jim Carrey, also Directed by Frank Darabont. RIP Michael Clarke Duncan (John Coffey)and Michael Jeter. (Del) Great review Marley! Thank you for them.
@marleysmovies Also, I have another suggestion that the little mouse reminded me of. I also recommend the 1997 film "MouseHunt." A great comedy from 1997. It stars Nathan Lane and actor and Stand Up Comedian from your side of the Pond, Lee Evans. It is a film about two brothers and their Quest to get rid of a mouse. It is so hilarious. The mouse in it is very cute also. It is a live action Tom and Jerry type of film. Very funny film! It is set around Christmas also.

There are six novels behind this film, and it's absolutely amazing how much of that material they managed to fit into this film, even with an extended runtime.
@@marleysmoviesStephen King’s short story of The Green Mile, has more depth than this marvelous film could squeeze in. You’ll enjoy reading it. Same with his novella of Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, another film by the same director of this one. When you read it you’ll hear Morgan Freeman’s voice.
John Coffey was scared of the dark, to the point that the dark scared him much more than his own death. Yet, Melinda said they found each other in the dark. He willingly went into the dark to heal. I think what he saw while he was in the dark truly was terrifying.
Great reaction. No matter how many times I've seen this movie, I have tears in my eyes when John Coffey gets executed. Those who don't have tears in their eyes, should not be trusted.
This is a highly emotional movie, during the film you seemed too figure out the story line about Coffey, you had great insight and do have great reaction. Early Merry Christmas, 🎄❤

When Paul told Percy "We know people, too." He meant, relatives of other prison inmates on the outside, who'd be willing to do any manner of favors to ensure their loved ones had some luxuries or privileges to make their time a bit easier.
John Coffey - JC - Jesus Christ, One of Gods miracles. It's alluded he had been alive for hundreds of years helping people when he could, but always alone. "Lonely as a sparrow in the rain"
John is every good and moral black man in America. P.S. An if John lawyer wasn't so immoral maybe John might have healed his son. Michael should have won an Oscar for playing John Coffey! Oh and there is a story about a Roman soldier who helped kill Jesus was cursed to live until Judgement Day too.
Stephen King at his best. Great reaction Marley. A few points from the book. 1: John is a lot older than you realise, think of him as a kind of angel. 2: Del is a Cajun prisoner with a fairly slow grasp of the English language, and has no family. He raped and murdered a young girl before starting a fire, which caused the deaths of six more people (including two children). 3: Arlen is Washita Cherokee death row inmate, convicted of killing a man in a drunken brawl over a pair of boots.
Marley, this is perhaps one of the most heartbreaking movies ever made. The execution scene is absolutely heart-wrenching, and I dare anyone to try and keep a dry eye during it. I hope that I will be as mobile and active at his age. No, that was not a warning from Hanks. That was a promise to Percy!
For me, there's the big five for Stephen King movies. Shawshank and Green Mile, along with Stand By Me, Carrie and The Shining. Not sure if you've seen any of the other three. There's plenty more of his that are worth a watch beyond those five as well
First time on the channel. What a lovely, honest emotional reaction! Another quality film you should react to is "Arrival" (2016 - Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker). Amy Adams delivers an Oscar-worthy performance! It is AMAZING (wonderful acting and story-telling 📽) and is in my Top Two of All Time list (along with The Green Mile). Subscribed.

With this movie along with "The Shawshank Redemption", you've completed two of the three Stephen King / Frank Darabont collaborations. Do you have the fortitude for the finale "The Mist"? Great reaction by the way!
I have been wanting to watch the mist for a long time I actually planned to do a reaction many months ago but I couldn’t find it streaming where I am, but I think I saw it somewhere recently (Amazon prime I think ) so I will get to it soon! ☺️ thanks for watching!!!

Percy Whetmore (played by Doug Hutchison) was not a nice guy in this movie. Apparently, he had a similar character in real life. If you're interested, Google him. You'll see what I mean. All that aside, it was a brilliant bit of acting nevertheless, although I don't think he would have found the role that challenging. Kudos to you for doing this. It's always a difficult, uneasy first watch for any normal person. You have endeared yourself. 😊
Another Tom Hanks movie you should consider is "The Terminal', He's from a made up Eastern European Country, he travels to New York and while he in flight, a civil war begins in his Country. When he arrives in New York, his Visa is denied and he stuck in the Airport Terminal.
1. YOU WILL CRY😭😭😭😭 2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie". 3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. (most likely a racial thing. It was 1935 South.) 4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row. 5. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy. EVERYONE hates him.🤬 10. John also rescues the other patients at Briar Ridge. 11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clarke Duncan.😇 They used planks, a small bed and smaller chair along with trick photography/angles to make John look taller. 12 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution, they used a real mouse, and it pooped on Paul's shoulder, and he brushed it off. 13.
