Cannot watch this without tears. Absolutely amazing work from Steven, and it forces you to become emotional.
Even my 7year old daughter sits with me and has a cry..

He did a couple more very power videos and songs around the same time. Drive Home and The Raven That Refused to Sing. Both MUST WATCH music videos. Absolute art at its finest.

Hey, hi 👋! I’m Jim, I make videos too. This is such a sucker punch of emotional goodness, I don’t think I’ve ever come across a song and musical video that go together so completely and totally as this, is just a work of art. Where in the U.K. are you? I’ve discovered a lot of Steven Wilson (make that ALL of Steven Wilson) since having the channel. Going to see his band Porcupine Tree at Wembley in a couple of weeks time. When you were talking about the possible Ukrainian flag 🇺🇦 on the fridge I guessed you must be Ukrainian, but then reading your “about” section realise you’re Polish and Romanian. We had a Ukrainian family staying with us for a few months… anyway, wonderful human reaction, I’m glad you appreciated this song. And yes, the song came first, The video was made to illustrate the story being told in the song. This is progressive rock…. A whole new musical world for you to discover where songs like this are the norm and not the exception.
Subbing, glad to have discovered you!!!

    "don't ever let go"
    "try to let go".
The 2 contradictory things people say to you, when you've lost someone close.

Welcome to the world of steven wilson! You jumped right into the deep end on this one. Truly one of the most beautifully destructive, soul wretching songs ever written.

Newspaper staed Father and 2 sons killed in school shooting. She is dealing with a great loss. Her family vanished. She is left as a shell, hollowed out. Routine is all she has, cooking and cleaning like they were still there....like a memory. At the end the viewer is left thinking will it be too much without routine, will she jump? School shootings are a sensless waste as it leaves the living to deal with it for the rest of our lives. It makes me think about what we may have lost, a scientist that cures cancer, a writer that wins a Pulitzer prize, an artist that creates a masterpiece. Owl House has collaborated with Steven in many of his videos, The Raven That Refused To Sing, Drive On, and they also did the animation Harry Potter The Deathly Hallows.

I'm a long-time Porcupine Tree and SW fan. He's an amazing composer. If you want to see a really interesting version of this powerful song, check this out. It's a filmed rehearsal in an empty hall with Ninet Tayeb singing with him. Hers is the female voice in your reaction. ua-cam.com/video/tMfGp79fJCQ/v-deo.html. Thanks for taking this on.

    The song came first.
I saw him do this live in 2018 and the video played on a huge screen behind him.
I have never seen an audience so collectively moved. I was on the front row of the upper tier, and i recall the house lights going on at the interval...I stood up and turned around to see the crowd and everyone looked as though their eyes were made of glass.

This video depicts all 5 stages of grief...not in order, but hits every one. Acceptance is the last stage.

Still crying each time seeing this video. Seven Wilson is a genius. Got all his albums in solo, with Porcupine tree, Blackfield, No-Man, Storm Corrosion. You've already have listened to Arriving somewhere but not here from the "Deadwing" album of Porcupine tree, you should try Anesthetize from Fear of a blank planet, another masterpiece from Porcupine Tree. You'll be thrilled.
His new solo album is out soon, I've already ordered it (Harmony codex).

The video and the song passes through the stages of grief, she is negation most of the song, and at a point the relief of all the anger kept inside is noticeably released, and the animators make it visible that she finally let her emotions flow
