Honestly if it wasn't for Rowan's superior customer service skills in dealing with a variety of different customers, Playtech would have closed down a long time ago.
Especially during the Karen epidemic.
Skills like giving away free notebooks?
@@mreese8764 it's not Rowan's fault that the sign was misleading. Adam must have misprinted it.

"Get off my damn lawn with your crazy talk!" 🧓🏼
Hugh angry old man noise!! Like he he!! Or no soup for you!!!!
@@schattentaenzerin "Get off my lawn" is soo boomer. It's "get off my groomed locally sourced no-water no-chemical outdoor edible garden and greenspace"
It's degenerate slang
I understood nearly all of it 😅 although I don’t tend to use much of that slang
The slang in this clip is easier than the accents.
It's concerning that I both despise this kind of slang, and still completely understand every single thing she said...
Rowan as always is ahead of his time.
I gotta say, as a non native english speaker, the accent is just as much of a problem as the slang 😂
NZ accents sound so nice, though. I agree they're a bit tricky to understand, but I love listening to them.
This is the only English channel I consistently need to enable subtitles. They didn't help at all this time.
Accent and speed! Once I turned subtitles on I understood most of it. A few I haven't heard before but atleast can figure out general meaning contextualy.
This is giving me the old lady who can speak Jive in Airplane vibes.
I haven't felt old in a while. Thanks.
It didn't trigger the "i'm old" feeling. Just the "WTF?" feeling.
You shouldn't really. I'm a teenager and even I was confused by a bunch of the things that were said
For real? I didn't feel old watching this, I felt like a normal human being in comparison to the girl :P
You havent lived until the first time someone ask you: do you have any children or GRANDCHILDREN? 🥺
yeah , no normal gen z speaks like that
As a millennial, I understood like 93% of what was said but I don't think I could talk back to them using the same words. I finally understand first gen kids of immigrants who understand their parent's native tongue but can't speak it.
Generations are fake as shit it has no scientific basis at all yet so many people think its real
I was born in 95 and have so much in common with 97 & early 00s babies than the oldest millennials lets stop this label bs
Same here. 😅
A great way to phrase it.
laughed so hard on last sentence
i'm also millennial, but my understanding is far worse.
english is not my mother tongue but i spend most of my day using it.
the only reason why i understand anything is because i like to watch youtube and twitch, so i pick up words like: simp, sus, or stan.
but man it's hard to keep up. 😅

I just loved the end part... "I'm 32.." , "i'm 29... You are old" , "Fuck you!" I actually laughed at that one. But I'm 42 this year and I agree with the "fuck you" at ellie for that !! lol

I was more surprised Allie's 29.
If that is her age, she looks way younger.
Yes. We heard them.
I am over 50 now my response would be "well duh" to her.
I mean, all of us knew rowan has the mind of a 10 year old, so why is anyone surprised he understands their language?
Good point.

Now imagine how difficult it was to understand this for a non-native English speaker.
I’m actually a bit shocked that Rowan didn’t just pause, say “You’re a girl,” and then run out the loading bay doors again.
Since this is a customer and not a regular part of the environment; she's clearly out of his league and he's made his peace with that. 😎

The fact it’s mixed with New Zealand accent just made it the more funnier 🤣 I’ve always thought the Gen Z slang is just an American thing lol 🙈
Thats the crazy thing about gen z slang, they're so globalized its becoming universal. Like i saw vietnamese saying "innit" and americans say "inshallah" etc
The fact that Rowan knows any "gen-z" slang is funny, yet the fact that he can only mention the same things he's always talking about when selling pc stuff is funnier...
He started checking out the dark (mode) web earlier this year. Maybe he picked it up there
Don't forget, he's a model. He needs to be up on all the hip lingo.
Rowan always got the answer when a customer comes in and ask for something specific. Just remember the flat clicker :)
I can't be sure the girl understands Rowan's slang. Maybe she's just pretending to understand.

Edit: Here's short explanations for some of the slang. Does Gen-Z really talk these way? YES and NO. YES, they use these slangs but NO I doubt they use it in a way like in the video. Some of the slang in the video feels somewhat forced to fit the narrative but still makes sense nonetheless.
-Drip is the modern version of swag: typically refers to one's style (such as clothing/personality/music) as being cool and stylish.
"Yo, that guy's fit is drippin hot 🔥 🥵"
-Cringe: refers to being an embarrassment, people associate it when someone/thing acts/say that makes em feel ashamed or awkward.
*if you download tiktok you'll find a lot of cringeworthy videos there*
-SUS: popularized as a term in the game Among us. It's a short word for SUSpect/SUSpicious. It when someone/thing seemed untrustworthy/dishonest/questionable.
*walking on a dark street*
"Yo, this place is hella sus"
-Stan: from Eminem's song 'Stan' where it was about being an obsessive person, hence it became a slang for obsession.

Even with subtitles on, it took all of my brain cells simultaneously comitting apoptosis to understand the dialogue. Amazing writing!
I had to pause it over and over and over. ??????
As a 25 year old who hangs around perhaps too many 14-19 year olds on Discord but otherwise sits just past the generational gap (as in, no one of my age who's only slightly older than these teens talks like this) I'm slightly afraid that I 100% understand everything she says even tho her dialogue is absurdly exaggerated.
@MegF yeah I had to turn on subtitles, but I got you fam :P
"PC glow up" - better pc
"High key sus" - seriously broken/disadvantaged
"Slower than a boomer" methinks you get that.
"Lag so cringe" - "I can't stand how slow my computer is"
"If I get one more L(ost game), I'm gonna yeet (throw) it out a window no cap" (haven't heard "no cap." Assume it means "in a rage")
"CEO of misunderstanding me much" - "you don't understand?" This is similar to "Captain Obvious"
"A whole ass snack" - haven't heard this one either, but I think it's similar to "being peachy," or being the envy of the community
"We're absolute dog water" - the conversation is going nowhere
"It's the actual audacity for me" - she's offended. "The nerve! The audacity of Ellie talking to me like a toddler"
"You need to take some seats right now" - stop
I believe the next few lines of dialogue can be easily understood, both from inference here and her own words.
[Insert Rowan]
"Absolute chill zdaddy of zigs" - haven't heard this before, but we infer he's praising the product
"Iconic drip" - classic. The use of it is addicting per se, really good
"Absolutely slaps" - similar to "iconic drip"
"Basically snatched" - they're flying off the shelves
"I literally stan" - haven't heard this context, but "Dream stans" are what's applied to UA-camr DreamXD fans, implying that they fangirl for him. Thus, I assume Rowan is saying "I can't love this enough." (Yes. That is where I first heard "stan." Back when UA-cam decided to blow his channel up)
"Period" - sweet/I'm sold
"Just hover some plastic" - different way of saying to "swipe your card"
Guchi - another inference. "Guichi" if I'm not mistaken is/was some elite fashion company, and a couple of hollywood films decided to mention the word. For people to turn that word into "you're clear" or "you're good" is weird to me, yet not surprising.
But yeah. The evolution of slang can be fascinating. There's a Beverly Hillbillies episode where the jokes involved a young man of the day spouting the slang of his time. Because I have the disc that has that episode, it can be really fun to play it, and infer and connect the dots every now and then.
@@HandleDisliker just wanna add to this...
No cap - means seriously, as in "no kidding"
Whole ass snack - I believe the slang is "snacc" which refers to an attractive person, just to add.
Gucci - means fine, good, wonderful, great, etc. It's used in the same way when Rowan's closed a sale and exclaims, "great!" or "wonderful!"
Edit: I forgot, "stan" means a really big fan in that they will gush about it to anyone when mentioned. They're very enthusiastic fans.

For those who needed a Gen Z translation, here you go:
finna: abbreviation of 'fixing to', meaning 'going to'.
glow-up: a mental, physical or emotional transformation (based on the change in appearance following a make-over) - in this case, used to mean 'an upgrade'.
high-key: as opposed to low-key, when something is the truth or to mean 'very much'.
sus: abbreviation of suspicious (originating from the game Among Us, where someone being sus meant they were likely the bad guy). Used to describe something as questionable, suspicious or poor quality.
literally: used to emphasise something that is figurative (not really the case/an exaggeration) or to mean that something truthfully is the case.
boomer: a person of the baby boomer generation, though commonly used to refer to anyone old or not gen Z.
lag: the slowing-down of a video game.
deadass: meaning 'seriously' or 'very much', originating from 'dead serious' (meaning you're not laughing and have a dead-pan facial expression because you're that serious).
cringe: when someone/something is embarrassing or awkward, making you feel embarrassed or ashamed.
Valorant: a free-to-play first-person hero shooter video game which is popular at the moment.
vibe: atmosphere/experience.
L: abbreviation of loss, meaning losing a round of a video game, or more generally doing poorly/a bad experience in life.
yeet: to throw something with great force (from the meme 'ya ya ya yeet').
cap: 'lies'. Commonly used in the phrase 'no cap' to mean that someone is telling the truth and is serious.
CEO of ___: meaning someone should be known for the following trait, as that is a good descriptor of them.
much: used at the end of a sentence to emphasise that something is very much the case. Originally used in sentences to ask if someone does something very often (e.g. 'do you go to the gym much?' could be shortened to 'gym much?).
whole-ass: describing something entirely or thoroughly.
snack: someone or something that looks good. Originally used to suggest that you'd like to 'taste' that person (sexual connotations).
OTP: abbreviation of 'one true pairing', meaning that something or someone is meant for you/is your soulmate.
dog-water: 'trash'. Used to describe something or someone as very bad (because dog-water from a used dog bowl would be very bad water to drink).
it's the ___ for me: referring to a feature of something/someone that stands out in a positive or negative way (originally used to emphasise the characteristic that someone loved about something/someone).
actual: once again affirming that what is being said is serious.
take several seats: when someone is doing too much or trying too hard (and is perhaps ineffective at this) so should sit down and be quiet so as not to make a fool of themselves.
cheugy-ass: cheugy means mocking someone as uncool (out of touch with the common slang of the current generation). '-ass' reiterates that this is a characteristic of the store.
cancel: to dismiss/reject someone/something publically, such that it becomes irrelevant due to current drama (which many people agree is unacceptable).
the planet you're responsible for killing: blaming the older generations for not doing anything to combat climate change, so that Gen Z has to fight to fix it.
setup: meaning your P.C. setup, including the keyboard, mouse, monitor(s), microphone, webcam, other accessories and P.C. itself.
bet: meaning 'sure', 'no problem', or 'I agree' or confirming that something is true. Originating from "you can bet on this".
'I got you': I understand you and/or can help you. 'Leave this with me'.
chill: describing something as cool and being something no one would have a problem with.
zaddy: describing something as sexually attractive. Originally describing a sexually attracting man (from the term 'sugar daddy' meaning someone who will provide you benefits or pay you for sex).
rig: a custom setup, such as a P.C. setup.
iconic: used to describe something in a very approving manner, suggesting that it could be influential or well-known or its quality.
drip: something that someone could attain which is cool and stylish. Originally referring to a cool or stylish outfit or to expensive jewellery.
slaps: describing something as excellent or amazing. Originally from the description of a song ("it slaps!") as something very groovy that someone would want to dance to (perhaps with the bass being slapped - that is - percussively slapping the string when playing a note for emphasis).
snatched: describing something as good looking, such that you'd want to grab it quickly before others could get to it.
stan: meaning you are obsessed with it and would go to great lengths for it (a mix of stalker and fan). Also credited as a reference to the Eminem song 'stan' about one of his overly-obsessed fans.
period: as in 'full stop'. Meaning that this is the end of the sentence/argument and nothing else needs to be said.
sweet: meaning something is awesome or nice.
hover some plastic: plastic is used to refer to a credit/debit card due to the plastic material it is made from. Hover some plastic refers to holding the card above the card reader using the microchip for its paywave technology. Basically, 'pay for it'.
'gucci': meaning something is awesome/cool/chill. Based on the expensive luxury fashion brand Gucci.
Hopefully that's helpful! Just try not to slip these unnaturally into your conversation with a Gen Z individual or it might be deadass cringe.

Groovy, man - but if "finna" is used in the traditional sense of "fixin' to" it should more accurately be described as "getting ready to" rather than "going to" - though in practice there is not necessarily much difference.
I think it’s also likely that “finna” originates from “gonna” because “fi” is close to “go” on a keyboard.
Thus, someone was probably trying to type “gonna”, ended up typing “finna” and just rolled with it from there.

You can call it the computer/video games/internet generation. And the generation of liberal sexuality that dont believe in religion anymore for most of them
There is 2 current generations in society.:
-----The 1970s and earlier generation:
They are less computer/social media/internet addict. Do more social activities. Tend to be hard working people. They are much more conservative mentality and is the last generation that at least lightly still believe in religion for most of them
---- And there is the 1980s and after generation:
They grew up with internet/video games/electronics/computer. First generation that dont believe in religion for most of them. Generation is very liberalized in sexuality (it went from you need to be married for sex to its okay to do it on second date without marrying , posting almost nude pics-video on social medias became normal, acting like a slot in heat became cool etc)
