The amazing thing about him is that he’s cool like this, but he’s also hilarious (some of his TikToks make me laugh out loud) AND he shares reasonable, achievable teaching strategies. I always stop to watch when I’m scrolling!
That is NOT what a pick me girl is. A pick me girl is a woman who goes out of their way to pursue male attention and validation, especially at the expense of other women. The ones who say things like "I'm not like the other girls, etc."
@@justinsmith2530gen alpha is in grade school rn n they are talking like they bc they’re repeating what their older Gen-Z siblings/cousins or baby sitters are saying
I saw one of his videos on UA-cam. He is great! So glad he has his own show. Mr. Lindsay, I appreciate you! I can now translate what my 13 y/o and his friends are saying, especially those “rizz” terms-LOL! Congrats on your new show/segment!
It still is ppl just don’t know n be mis-using it. He doesn’t exactly understand every term -bc they are explained to him by gen Z but most were actually invented by African-American late millennials
@@indigonai1565This made me totally curious, cuz I feel like it's been around longer than most people think. It just hasn't been popular slang. I'm finding enough consistent information to believe the sources that say it came from the TV show Grey's Anatomy in 2005. So weird that some passing moment in a show 20 years ago is the basis for a popular phrase in kid culture today.
Wow, he's cool... a real hep cat... very groovy... way far out... real neato... ;-P "Do it for the plot"? My life is a Greek tragedy... OK, according to the inventor, "gif" is pronounced with a soft "g", like "giant". When he got his Webby award for creating the format, in his acceptance, to settle the argument, he put up a slide of a JIF peanut butter jar... Do you people say "GUY-ant"?
Look, no one says utube. It’s literally UA-cam. Has been for 20 years. You could shorten it to YT if you want but that’s also a way of saying WHITE as in white people. Normally used by people who are prejudiced against YT people
I am surprised he didn't mention the very over-used "bruh". 🤣 (Not that it's hard to figure out.) Hey, Gen-Z'ers - you co-opted that from the 80's! There is NOTHING new under the sun (including this maxim). ☺
Why are they acting so out of touch? From what I know, these terms are more or less common sense for any generation after boomers. There's no need to act older than you are, especially these days. I'd say they're pandering to soccer moms but it's 2024, even soccer moms are online enough to know basic slang... Maybe I'm missing something. All I know is I'm already 33 but Gen Z/alpha slang is still common sense to me.

My teen sends me random pics of butts (clothed obviously) and captions it GYAT! Lol. We have a ridiculous sense of humor though. I’m a 40yo big kid
Yo my mom found out about that 💀
My teacher knows the word bc it’s been said to her so many times 💀

The definition has kind of been warped bc people misuse it
Correct
Is this even Gen Z? This is like the next generation at this point. Gen Z are getting close to 30 😂
The oldest gen Z* Generations last 15 years, so the youngest ones are 11. 1997-2012.
Youngest are 11-12

Pick-me girl started off as a way of describing a girl who will try to impress guys by agreeing with their misogynistic beliefs

@igorschmidlapp6987 Same...as likeable and seemingly knowledgeable as this guy seems, all I kept thinking is that he mispronounced gif!

From experience of hearing Pick-me, to me it simply seems like a girl who has a man and all the other girls call her a pick-me out of jealousy
