Right after Prince died, I realized that I never heard most of his music but always wanted to. So I went for a long drive and listened to all of his albums. It was an experience.

Prince’s lengthy career was marked by continually catching people off their guard. Not only was he an extraordinarily skilled and versatile songwriter, instrumentalist, and performer, but he took risks that made him quite unpredictable as an artist. One of a number of ways he set himself apart from his peers. The first minute or two of your reactions is very much the same as the world’s collective initial reaction to Prince throughout the 1980s-every time he debuted a new video which occurred a few times annually. He averaged about two hits per year from 1982 through 1989. He had a phenomenal creative output. Even in 1986 when “Kiss” came out, it was distinctive and didn’t sound quite like anything else on the radio (a hallmark of many of his hit songs). To this day I’ve never seen a male artist cater to the female demographic of his audience the way Prince did. And he continually surprised the world with his mercurial, musical twists and turns from album to album, year to year. But the world was willing to take that ride with him because his songs hooked you like that. And once you got over how strange and unconventional he was, you just had to surrender to the music because Prince was just so next level.
They say if you were playing with Prince you better be on point cuz he could play every instrument and probably better than you. Pioneer, trailblazer, original!!! 🙂 When Doves Cry is one of my faves.
Truth, Prince was an amazing musician. Stevie Nicks heard his song "Little Red Corvette" on her wedding day, and was immediately inspired to write "Stand Back" -- she recorded a demo in the honeymoon suite that same night. Later she got in touch with Prince and asked him to play the synth in the studio for the single. He was only in the studio playing for a half hour, but he did his part so well that Nicks said it was impossible to find anyone else that could play the synth as well as Prince did when they went on tour with the song. (He apparently also programmed the drum machine for the track.)
He got perfect pitch. He was incredible. So talented as a musician it's crazy.Maybe the moves,he's more an athlete than a mover. But nobody's perfect .This said, this song is perfect, like a lot of his repertoire.I just luv that song

Yay! Hahahaha I love that reaction! 3 rd edit... hahaha! That is right. For some reason, there is just no question about his sexuality, and yep, Hide your wife, girlfriend, and husband. He could play everything, and take everyone home if he wanted to. I love this song.
Yep my grandma called him "a tiny sexy Yellow man" it was the 80s🤷🏽♀️ her ideal men were Luther Vandross, Barry White, Al.Green and BB King but hey....
Prince was quiet the ladies’ man. He dated many beautiful women in his life. The most famous, I myself can remember, were Sheela E and Apolonia. And he was a great key in their success. Love Prince. As a matter of fact, Prince was the first artist which music I ever heard and own on a CD. They didn’t even sold CD’s in my country at the time, I got it as a gift from a cousin that came from Germany. Great artist.
He was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and, after the show, Prince left Jimmy a secret note, telling him to meet him at some building in the City. Jimmy showed up and Prince had a ping pong table set up with a racket for Jimmy, then proceeded with a ping pong duel. Prince won, then dropped his racket on the table and walked out. Lol. He was the man!
Prince was a trailblazer as a black artist. He broke gender stereotypes and took androgyny to a realm where it wasn't openly accepted by the culture he came from. Despite his image at the time, his megawatt talent and charisma was enough to see past the facade and fall in love with him. For me he was one of my icons who helped me understand that i didn't and shouldnt be embarrassed about being androgynous. I loved him. Please could you react to Sergey Lazarev "You Are The Only One" (the live eurovision finale performance)?. I can guarantee you've never seen a performance like it!
These were his greatest years, the 80s, every year an album in a totally different style. Wirh great songs, composition, arrangements. It is hard to find something similar in Music-history like Prince in the eighties.
Prince is a chameleon, he was ever changing and you never heard anything bad from him. There are not a lot of true ARTIST around but he truly was. One thing I can say is that never go into is songs @Jayveetv expecting anything because he’ll always surprise you
It's Prince! He's not shy. Got to love him. This song has a James Brown vibe to it. On a sad side note, Prince's great dance moves (after many years and performances) led to his opioid addiction.
Yeah him wearing heels dancing and playing the guitar on stage all those years led to his hip replacement surgery and hip pain. That's how he got addicted to the pain pills.
@@Nonchalant_248 I think it’s a little of both. The moves are jolting to the body. Fortunately he was tiny so the jolts took time to effect him physically. High heels... been rocking them for more years than I can count. They do more damage to the foot than the spine and hips. UNTIL... you fall off them. Oh ouchie!
I would looove to hear Prince for the first time again!! I grew up with Prince since I was a kid so I was so lucky to see this artist expand and grow. But Prince is a#1 in my book!!

The one and only 💜 There will never be another 💜 Prince was a genius, he wrote, composed and produced every album and played every instrument on that album (and could play 27 instruments). He lived and breathed music. He exuded confidence and he COULD take your woman. Prince can never be categorised, he was his own category 💜
Great reaction. This is probably up there with my favorites of his. When the younger generation wants to know what makes Prince legendary, this video should be required viewing. "Hide your girlfriends...and wives...hide your husbands." 🤣🤣🤣
Prince was so talented. He could play any instrument that I can imagine. He was so creative and it was pretty much his own ideas. The world is a lesser place without him💔 I have a lot of Prince favorites but this one is my all time favorite. I love the funk vibe in this one❤
Yes. I’m a 50-something white gal from Detroit now in Nashville. I saw Prince’s opening Purple Rain concert tour show back in 1984 in Detroit. FIRST SHOW OF THE TOUR! No man performs like this man. Happy to see/hear you enjoy what I’ve known for years!
Hey Jay! I remember the first time I ever heard Prince, He was just so fresh and cool and fun How could you not like him? I So wanna be on the first flight back to the eighties.
Haha his face when His Purpleness comes out in a crop top super sensual! Don't try to put Prince in your basic categories. He transcends sexuality labels through his uber sexy music.
I don't think Michael was afraid of Prince talent i think they secretly admired each other but were portrayed in media as in competition with each other.
I had a crush on him big time and that sexiness he had was just scary and kind of overpowered you and made you look away. He was sexy to men and women and his passing was such a loss 😣
And, man, what a falsetto, as he goes into screaming in falsetto... yet keeps it absolutely pitch-perfect and musical. Although, if you want THE vocal performance of all time, then you need to listen to "the Beautiful Ones". Which goes from butterfly gentle to howling banshee, and somehow is able to chart the emotional journey of a whole relationship, from start to finish, in a single song. That might sound weird, but just listen to it and you'll understand. It goes through every emotion of being in love, of being in a relationship, of the eventual break-up and drags you along for the ride. Seriously, it's inhumanly good singing.
Dude-the expression on your face the first couple minutes says it all! Prince was the real deal. I’ve had “Kiss,” “Raspberry Beret,” and “I Wanna Be Your Lover” as my ringtone at different times over the last ten years.
Prince was Hendrix mixed with Sly and the Family Stone meets the Beatles and so much more. The deeper you look into his music the more amazed you will be.
Prince is iconic!!! As the saying goes, he’s the only man who can wear lipstick and high heels and will steal your girl!! 😂😂 I’m one that loves originals first and foremost but Tom Jones did a remake of this classic with the group “the art of noise” Equally impressive for me. Check that one out too if you get a chance. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Tom Jones did a good version of the song but he changed a word in it that kind of bugs me! Where Prince sings "women, not girls turn me on" Tom, the old sly fellow, says "women AND girls"..Kind of changes the meaning of the line, no?
Fun song! Tom Jones, whom you've reacted to a few times, made a cover of this song and it was a hit. You should react to his cover as well. That would also be fun.

Even Jamie Fox said I dare you to look in Prince's eyes and not feel something!
In this video Prince was like honey dripping off a hot biscuit.
😂 true!!!
Prince was the sexiest singer EVER, he was in touch with his feminine side which made him even sexier!
WOW Jay, this is one of Prince’s finest tracks! He’s an artist of many styles & if you like this please react to his song Raspberry Beret 🙏
it is SO WEIRD to me that people have never heard this song before. it was SO HUGE, and i still play it regularly. RIP Prince, we miss you.
Gotta have I Would Die 4U, and also Morris Day and the Time
Prince was quiet the ladies’ man.
Once you're in the Prince vault, it's not that you're stuck, you just don't want to leave.
Truth
Oh they kids haven't even scratched the surface yet
One of the top 5 GOATS of music..point blank period
He can play any instrument, basketball, and ping pong ride a motorcycle and a lot more he was very talented
He was a true addition to this world...Seriously, talented.
...and make pancakes 😂
It's 2021 and it's the first time you hear Prince! Come on man where have you been?
You were my 1st Walk Out! Prince was all about shock value..and You were Definitely..Shook!! 💥🤘
I had the biggest crush on Prince back in the 80s when the movie Purple Rain came out. He was absolutely adorable and extremely talented. I miss him.
Me too X 2
Prince is a chameleon, he was ever changing and you never heard anything bad from him. There are not a lot of true ARTIST around but he truly was. One thing I can say is that never go into is songs @Jayveetv expecting anything because he’ll always surprise you
He had NO boundaries. Rock, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Blues and he even wrote a ballet. No limits.
Being a Prince fan is a lot of fun. Never a dull moment.
Saw this and immediately rubbed my hands together cackling wickedly..😅
Me too. 😂
🤣
There will never be another #prince4ever. PLEASE more PRINCE 💜☮🌈☔
You got it unblocked! 👏 This is my favorite Prince song. 🥰
So many years jammin to the artist!!! Can't ever get too much Prince!!!!!! He's out of this world awesome. A man that can wear eyeliner & high heels & get your girl......😎✌❤
Prince was the only man who could walk into a club in heels and walk out with your wife/girlfriend lol
He was also the master of the side eyed look
I don't know if you noticed it or not, but this song has no Bass in it
That is all true! He could do that and more!
Ha no Bass ,never norticed that before! thanks .
Same with "When Doves Cry" - no bass.
The one and only 💜 There will never be another 💜
Prince was a genius, he wrote, composed and produced every album and played every instrument on that album (and could play 27 instruments).
The world is a lesser place without him💔
I have a lot of Prince favorites but this one is my all time favorite. I love the funk vibe in this one❤
Your facial expressions reacting to this are everything. Thank you for the joy.
Not only could he sing he was so talented with instruments too one of the best performers that ever existed 💯
One of my favorite songs of all time. RIP Prince.
If this was too much for you, then I can't wait to see how you react to Prince's "Cream."
Exactly! LOL
Yep they ain’t seen nothing
Hell yes - I NEED to see that reaction! 😝
yep. or "Gett Off"

Of course, we could up it a notch... and also go for a listen to Prince's "Pussy Control"

Kiss is an amazing song. He's brilliant. One of the anthem of the 80's. He had enough confidence for an entire city....
Hey Jay! I remember the first time I ever heard Prince, He was just so fresh and cool and fun How could you not like him? I So wanna be on the first flight back to the eighties.
Young man, Prince was a king!!!
Haha his face when His Purpleness comes out in a crop top super sensual! Don't try to put Prince in your basic categories. He transcends sexuality labels through his uber sexy music.
“We’ll do the kind of things that only Prince would sing about” - Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch
Prince is and was always a versatile artist and performer
RIP Prince Rogers Nelson April 2016
Yes, finally on UA-cam. I love that I can see your reaction to Prince here.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
When even Michael Jackson is afraid of your talent, you get that confidence...
I feel blessed that I got to see Prince live 5 times. The most talented man ever. His loss is a tragedy.
I love your reaction when it first came on ❤❤🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love me some prince 🤴💕😍
I’m back to watch this again. Mercy! This man could move so smooth!
As the great Prince said in one of his songs "I have two sides and they're both friends"
My Name Is Prince... lol
@@tommtommkin Yeah, that's the song
@@cstianlew406 ;) I know just about all his songs... just about cause there are thousands lol.
The whole song in falsetto... he was so awesome.
Who else pictures Julia Robert's in "Pretty Woman" singing this in the bath tub with her headphones on?
Yassssss 💙💙💙💙
Right on Jennifer I pictured the exact same thing. Lol
Yes ma'am! How can you not? 👍
Me lol
Can't help but!
This song is absolute fire. He's such a good vocalist. Goes from a screaming falsetto to low registered in one line without breaking a sweat.
Brooooo! You had me rollin’ through this whole reaction. #priceless
Prince whupping Charlie Murphy on the basketball court, in crushed velvet, is still one of the best sketches - and by all accounts true too lol
Prince is iconic!!! As the saying goes, he’s the only man who can wear lipstick and high heels and will steal your girl!! 😂😂
I’m one that loves originals first and foremost but Tom Jones did a remake of this classic with the group “the art of noise” Equally impressive for me. Check that one out too if you get a chance. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Giving you a 👍🏼just for your profile pic!! 💙
Tom Jones did a good version of the song but he changed a word in it that kind of bugs me! Where Prince sings "women, not girls turn me on" Tom, the old sly fellow, says "women AND girls"..Kind of changes the meaning of the line, no?
@@suzannelemieux3357 agree 💯🙌🏾
@Luna Raven Thank you for agreeing! I often wonder if I read too much into things, so validation is great! Also djsk28...
Prince had some of the most beautiful women in the 80’s Shelia E. Was a baddie and she still looks good till this very day
Fun song! Tom Jones, whom you've reacted to a few times, made a cover of this song and it was a hit. You should react to his cover as well. That would also be fun.
It is inconceivable that someone has lived on this earth more than 10 years and has never heard this Prince song.
