Toy went into this Open Range Movie Reaction knowing only that the film was directed by Kevin Costner and starred him and Robert Duvall.
Only a few weeks before recording the Open Range reaction, Toy and Hannah recorded a Jack Reacher Movie Reaction (now on UA-cam) and loved that film, and Robert Duvall's performance, immensely!
She and Hannah also saw Robert Duvall in Days of Thunder, another reaction that was requested through our Reactr page.
Before recording the Open Range Movie Reaction, Toy and Hannah had met Kevin Costner whole making their Robin Hood Prince of Thieves Movie Reaction.

What's your favorite western?
@RuntotheMovies a few of my personal favs are (1985) Pale Rider, (1988) Young Guns, (1974) Blazing Saddles just to name a few 🤞
Young Guns for the soundtrack, for sure!
This one and „the quick and the dead“, bombing cast 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Tombstone
3:10 to Yuma
Unforgiven
Forget to add:
True Grit
Hostiles
Wild Bill
Maverick is a fun western to watch
One of the best gunfights in western movie history.
"Are you the guy who killed our friend?"
"Yes, I am."
BOOM! 😂
😊😊❤❤
Definitely one of my favorites as well. Besides the quick death at the beginning mentioned by LukeLovesRose, my favorite part is Charlie walking to the side in the alley to keep the townsfolk out of his impending gunfire. Then after his first shot into the guy that has Sue, the way he punches the next two shots at him always gives me chills.
THE BEST
I came to the comment section to write that same thing.
I love Robert Duvall but especially in this role. It's going to be a sad day when we don't have actors like Costner and Duvall anymore.
Truth 💯
'Dances with Wolves"
Absolutely! And I like the extended version even better than the theatrical cut.
I can't wait to see it! 😊😊❤
Put that in your book!😂
Great movie
Bull Durham, field of dreams, draft day, Wyatt Earp, dances with wolves, the postman, for love of the game and I know not a movie but Yellowstone.
Thank you so much! 😊😊❤
Robert Duvall is just brilliant everything I have seen him in. Again, I love your reactions.
"Assassination Tango " was pretty good.
Yes! My collection of Robert Duvall is growing watching here and I love it!😊😊❤. Always a pleasure to see you @awall1701. Thank you so very much, have an amazing day my friend 😊😊😊❤❤
One of .my favourite westerns by a long long way
I like that Boss wanted to indulge his sweet tooth before facing deadly danger and his ""Sitting right here in front of you and you ever even tried it" line. There are life lessons there.
"You see that mountain over there? Yeah, one of these days I'm going to climb that mountain." - Alabama
I loved that too. And I thought it was so sweet he gave him some. 😊😊❤❤
Thank you, this is one of the best westerns made.
I can totally see why. I loved it from start to finish 😊❤
The first movie I saw Kevin Costner in was Silverado, in 1985. A Western. It's a really good one, too! With Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, John Cleese, Rosanna Arquette, Brian Dennehy and Linda Hunt.
Ouu! I'm excited to see it! Thank you so much! 😊❤
Thank you SO much for reacting to this underseen gem. It's far too disregarded by the reaction community.
Thank you!!! I loved it from start to finish 😊❤
To see a beautiful woman say "And This Little Piggy Went To Hell" was more exciting than I thought it would be.
Toy could make the phone book exciting!
😂😂😂😂 thank you so much 😂😁❤
Dances with Wolves, Field of Dreams
I kid you not, I absolutely love the scene where they buy candy and cigars. So calming and comforting. But that's the idea, cause then the storm comes.
Saw this in theaters just short of turning 13. Always found it a bit underappreciated, but as far as Westerns, especially modern ones, I get why it stands where it is.
That scene was very nice. 😊❤ I think this movie had it all. I don't see why or how it could be underappreciated. Well I enjoyed every bit of it 😊❤. I'm going to tell everyone about this gem. ❤
The owner of the stables was played by Michael Jeter, from my hometown. RIP.
I have watched this so many times lol. I wish they hadn't had a 6 shot pistol shoot 13 times but I can overlook it.
Watch "Appaloosa", another good western.
I break down every time Michael Jeter's reads Charlie's Will . If I'm to believe what I've read he had already been diagnosed with cancer and knew his own time was limited. One of the greatest westerns of all time ......
Costner ----Field of dreams
Thank you! I've been hearing about this and dances with wolves. I can't wait to see both! 😊😊❤
Aww, it's always so sad to see Michael Jeter. Gone way too soon. He's one of my favorites, from some amazing movies like The Green Mile, Jakob the Liar, Patch Adams, and The Fisher King.
Check him out in 'Welcome to Collingwood', he's a scream!! 🤣🤣🤣
He was also with Burt Reynolds and Marilu Henner on Evening Shade.
A very young Kevin Costner stars with Kevin Kline, Glenn Scott and Danny Glover in Silverado. Then there are a lot of sports movies with Kevin Costner, like For Love Of The Game and Field Of Dreams. Kevin Costner also plays a realistic Wyatt Earp.
Thank you so much for your recommendations! I can't wait to check these out 😊😊😊❤❤
Some other really good Kevin Costner movies are No Way Out, A Perfect World, 3000 Miles To Graceland, The Upside Of Anger, Swing Vote, 3 Days To Kill, and Criminal!
Nice!!!! Thank you again 😊😊❤❤. I can't wait to see these. ❤😊
"This Little Piggy Went To HELL!" was the name of my metal band in college :)
What!?!?! No way!!! 😂😊😊❤❤ I love that!!!! Sounds like an awesome band!
wow, a reaction to this hidden gem unknown movie! yes!
😊❤❤ I loved it!!! Thank you so much!!😊❤
'Dance with Wolves' is an epic movie starring Kevin Costner. 'Field of Dreams' is another must see Kevin Costner movie. FWIW 'Open Range is one of my favorites and partially because I have an enormous crush on Annette Bening.
Costner movies - "The Untouchables", "Field of Dreams", "Waterworld", "The Postman". "Silverado"
I forgot about the postman!! Another good costner film!!!
Nice! I can't wait to check these out 😊😊❤
Dances with Wolves and The Untouchables are my recommendations.
Thank you so much! I can't wait to check them out! 😊😊😊❤❤
Kevin Costner was in a really good Netflix movie called "The Highwaymen". He played Texas Ranger Frank Hamer who was responsible for tracking down and killing Bonnie and Clyde. It also stars Woody Harrelson. It's a great movie that centers more on Frank and, unlike other movies, is not center around Bonnie and Clyde. It also does nothing to glorify them, like other movies. They were stones cold killers in real life and this movie portrays them as such. It's worth watching and is about 85% historically accurate. The end of the manhunt was actually filmed on the same location it happen in real life.
I concur, good movie worth a watch.
Whoooaa!!! That sounds so cool! I definitely can't wait to see this one! Thank you so much! And that's so cool it was in the same location. I'm excited to this one. Thank you so much again 😊😊😊❤❤❤
@@toy4871 You will not be disappointed
@@toy4871 Some underrated Keven Costner movies: For The Love Of The Game (1999) and Draft Day (2014)
So many great movies with Kevin Costner- Dances with Wolves, waterworld, The Untochables and a good tv Show is Yellowstone
IMHO his best role, and is a TOTAL tone shift for him, was Mr. Brooks (2007)!! :)
Costner is great in Westerns and Baseball movies. Not so good in anything else.
Thank you! 😊😊❤❤
@@toy4871 you welcome :)
You need to watch "LONESOME DOVE" 1989 a western mini-series starring Robert Duvall, you'll love it.
You had me at Robert Duvall! 😊❤. Thank you so much. Definitely gotta check this out ❤
I think I enjoy watching you more than I enjoy watching the movies! ❤ Great show, Toy!
Awww thank you so much @martinboyle9163 😊❤. Great to see you as always! I hope you have an amazing day. And thank you so much again 😊😊😊❤❤❤
@@toy4871 Of course I'm having an amazing day because you have made it brighter! 💕
@@martinboyle9163😊😊❤❤ you rock!
Other movies with him... His best movie is probably Dances with Wolves, which he starred and directed... all the girls love Kevin in Robin Hood, prince of thieves, with Alan Rickman, and The bodyguard with the singer Whitney Houston... he's in sooooo many movies... Great reaction. 😊 Thank you.
Thank you!! 😊❤. I'm dying to see dances with wolves. I see a lot if comments about it and I'm so curious what it could be about. I hope to see it soon 🤞🏼😊❤
Four years USAF, the high ground is always preferred in any fight. Either jets in the air or a rooftop. Toy is right about that. Happy Memorial day 🇺🇲
😊😊❤❤ happy memorial day to you also
@@toy4871 ✌️😺👍
One of my favorite movies, if not the favorite. And one of my favorite lines: "there's things that gnaw at a man worse than dying."
That was definitely an amazing line. And I really loved this movie a lot. I felt like it had everything 😊❤
An amazing story backed up by one of the most brutal gunfights in Hollywood film.
💯💯💯agree!! ❤❤❤
"I'll take the high ground" Someone's been listening to Obi-Wan Kenobi! :P
😂😂😂 absolutely! 😊❤❤
"He cant do anything if hes not breathing". I like you logic 😂
a.k.a. problem solved, problem staying solved
Lol 😂😂 thank you. I'm not sure where that came from but it makes sense 😂😁❤
You'll love "The Untouchables" where Costner plays real life Treasury agent Eliot Ness, who takes down mobster Al Capone in the 1930's(?). Also starring Sean Connery and Andy Garcia.
Oh man that sounds awesome!!!!❤❤❤😊
This is such a great movie. One of my favorite Kevin Costner movies is Bull Durham. A really good Robert Duvall movie is Secondhand Lions. Not many of the reactors have done that one but it is great, fun, funny, and has a lot of heart
Sounds like something I would absolutely love!!! Thank you!😊😊❤❤❤
I've never seen Yoda look happier :D
😁😁😘😘
The ranch owner Baxter was Michael Gambon, who also portrayed the second Professor Dumbeldore in the Harry Potter movies, after the first Dumbeldore, Richard Harris died. Both Richard Harris and Michael Gambon were Irish, and Michael Gambon uses his original Dublin accent in this film, because his ranch owner character immigrated from Ireland. Michael Gambon also died not long ago, in September last year.
🕊🕊🕊❤❤
Kevin Costner starred in Dances With Wolves and The Untouchables, both great movies.
There is so much wholesomeness and toughness in this movie! One of my all time favorites! Love seeing ladies react to it!!
Another good movie with Robert Duvall.. Broken trail... And it's a true story .. one of my favorite
Agreed!
Plus Thomas Haden Church gets to play a good guy (unlike in "Tombstone")
If you want another good western with a very young Kevin Costner I recommend Silverado. Not just Costner but Scott Glenn, Kevin Kline, Danny Glover, Linda Hunt, Brian Dennehy, Rosanna Arquette, John Cleese, Jeff Goldblum I mean the ensemble cast of that movie is incredible.
I can't wait to see it! 😊❤ thank you
Field of Dreams, Waterworld, and Dances With Wolves. Really good films last one can be a tear jerker
Uh oh. I need my tissues! 😊❤ thank you so much
@@toy4871 My pleasure ma'am!
He's about to go JOHN WICK? Nah nah nah he's about to go JOHN WAYNE on their asses.
Lol I like that!!!!😊😊😊❤
Don't forget that Costner is releasing a new multi-part Western epic in theaters starting this summer -- 'Horizon: An American Saga'. First part comes out in June, second in August. Huge cast, plus the same Director of Photography as 'Open Range', so it should look spectacular. He's been working on it for several decades. I absolutely cannot wait.
Oh my god! I can't wait either! Sounds like it will definitely be epic!😊😊😊❤
Dances with Wolves. Academy winner. Field of Dreams, Bull Durham. All excellent.
Wyatt Earp and dances with wolves. My two favorite Kevin Costner movies
Everybody and their cousin reacts to "Tombstone," but "Wyatt Earp" gets no love on UA-cam. I hope the Run To the movies gang take your suggestion.
I would looooove to see these! Thank you so much! 😊❤❤
The little guy in the seat next to you is my fav reactor on your channel so far.
Yoda is the man!!!! 😊❤
"I love you Toy, been that way since i first laid eyes on you".
Hello, Kostner was in: " Fandango, American Flyer, Silverado, The Postman, and others."
Hello, general Westerns would include: " The Big Country " for its soundtrack. " Conagher ", " The Unforgiven (1960) ", " Valdez is Coming ", " The Professionals ", " Vera Cruz ", " The Wild Bunch ", " The Magnificent 7 (1961) ", " The Far Country (1954) ", " Destry ", " Destry Rides Again ", " The Naked Spur (1953) ", " Bite the Bullet ", " Hidalgo ", " The Sacketts (mini-series) ", " Jory ", " Culpepper Cattle Company ", " The Cowboys " , " The Kentuckian " , " Trapeze " , " The Scalphunters ".
Thank you so much for recommending these. I can't wait to check these out. 😊😊❤
This is an underrated western, and with a perfect ending too.
I loved it!! 😊😊❤
By far one of the greatest movies ever made, Love your reaction !
Loved this movie. And thank you so much 😊❤
Yes! One of the best westerns ever. Now do "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" with Hannah and Toy.
😊❤❤❤❤
Thank you for reacting to this amazing movie. It's always been one of my favorites.
Field of Dreams is another great Kevin Costner film (it's currently included with Amazon Prime).
Field of dreams sounds sweet 🥰. Glad you enjoyed the reaction. This movie was so awesome 😊😊❤
Great movies with Kevin Costner include Bull Durham, Tin Cup, For Love Of The Game, Silverado, and The Upside Of Anger!
Ouu thank you very much! I can't wait to check these out! 😊❤
top 5 westerns since 2000. top 10 westerns since ever!
For more Robert Duvall (in an Academy Award winning performance BTW) and a movie that will touch your heart, watch "Tender Mercies" (1983). Toy, I'm sure you will love it.
Nice!!! Thank you so much! I need more Robert Duvall in my life. He's absolutely amazing in everything I have seen him in. I will definitely give this a look. Thank you again 😊😊❤
I'm also going to suggest a more obscure movie Robert Duvall was in )unfortunately only as a side character)" "Let's Get Harry" (1986)." When the American government refuses to to negotiate with Colombia rebels for the release of hostage Harry Burck and is unwilling to attempt a rescue mission, Harry's blue collar friends take matters into their own hands and hire a mercenary to lead them on their own mission to get Harry back.
It's a B-movie, but is also an extremely 80s movie too. In the late 60s and the bulk of the 70s, patriotism was frowned upon, the military and veterans were reviled, and the American working class was viewed as ignorant and backwards, but around the mid eighties. that attitude started to reverse. "Let's get harry" typifies that pride in and empowerment of the "average Joe" and respect for Vietnam veterans grew during that era.
To me THIS is the movie that brought westerns back!!!
Unforgiven was soooo good that it wrecked the genre for a decade. It took Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall and Sir Michael Gambon (RiP) to bring it back!
LETS FKING GOOOOOOOOO!!! 💪😎💪
Let's gooooo!!!! 😊😊❤
Enjoyed this movie too. One would seem small thing but stuck with me or I recall when watching this was the shooting, especially at the end. The sound. It seems like it just had more powerful blast of fun shooting sound then regular movies, even other Western movies, if that makes sense
I see what you mean. It was definitely a loud, exciting scene. Not slow at all. 😊❤ thanks @rick74 😊😊❤.
Costner stated it was done on purpose. I was lucky enough to see this in an advanced screening at a Theater with an enormous Sound System (back then) and when the guns were fired onscreen, you could actually hear audience reactions of awe and fear. You felt like you were in the middle of it.
Kevin Costner, Field of Dreams, Dances With Wolves, JFK, Hidden Figures, Wyatt Earp, The Highwaymen, Draft Day, Bull Durham, and Tin Cup. There are a lot more, too many to list.
I will absolutely start with these. Thank you so much. I can't wait to get started!😊😊❤ If I may ask, which one is your favorite?😊
Toy you really need to find a good fella to hold onto during this sort of movie. Thanks for sharing your feels with us all the same. 😊
😊😊❤❤❤❤🤗🤗
Dances with Wolves. Wyatt Earp. No Way Out. Charlie was dealing with PTSD.
Aw Charlie 🥺. Thank you! I'm excited to check these out!!! 😊😊❤
Field of Dreams, Dances with Wolves, and The Bodyguard.
Hello!
Really nice Reaction Video!
The Movie "Postman" with Kevin Costner is really awesome!
Love a girl that will watch a great western!
Thank you! I absolutely enjoyed it to the fullest 😊❤
Abraham Benrubi (Mose) first hit the small screen in the 90s medical drama ER, that also started George Clooney & Antony Edwards in their careers. Annette Benning is married to Warren Beatty.
for more Costner you should check out 'Bull Durham', 'Field of Dreams' & 'For Love of the Game' (those three all involve baseball) and 'Dances With wolves' is a time period epic.
Nice! Thank you so much! I'm excited to check these out 😊❤
You're right it is a beautiful area. This was filmed where I am from, Alberta Canada around Calgary and around the top of the Drumheller Valley. We get a lot of movies filmed out here.
Yup. I knew people in Brokeback Mountain, Unforgiven, Legends of the Fall and Superman. Also in TV shows like Winona Earp,
I'd love to visit and see it sometime! My grandmother frequents different places in Canada. She says it's her favorite place 😊😊😊❤
@toy4871 look up"the Dinosaur Capital of the World. That is Drumheller.
This Was My Late Dad's Favorite Western Movie's,Nice Reaction Sweetheart
Thank you so much! My grandfather and my father loved westerns also. My grandfather just recently passed away. Sorry to hear about your dad. I'm glad we can watch things they enjoyed and love them just as much 😊❤.
That's my favorite line in this movie
Evidently he ain't over it yet😂
What was really cute about this was your reaction. I want to see more of your reactions so I joined.
Thank you so much! 😊😊😊❤❤ I really appreciate that and you, and thank you so much for joining us! I hope you have an amazing day. 😊😊❤
Open Range has gained a dedicated fan base over the years, especially for those who love the Western genre. Many praised the film for its authentic portrayal of life on the Old West. The film captures the beauty of the American Frontier and the moral complexities of frontier life. The stellar performances of the cast, Kevin Costner, Robert DuVall, and Annette Benning in particular, really elevates this film. The final battle at the end is an absolute classic.
Another Kevin Costner film I would recommend is The Untouchables (1987). As for other Western’s, I’d recommend The Wild Bunch (1969), Unforgiven (1992), Tombstone (1993), and True Grit (2010).
Your reactions melted my heart Toy. Thank you as always, and I wish you all the very best!
🫶🏻
I'm just happy that it wasn't another revisionist or spaghetti western. We'd had enough of those, and not nearly enough classic westerns, where the good guys get to actually be good, and the world is not exclusively populated with greasy, terrible people. Watching most westerns made after 1970 you'd think that there were nothing but murderers and prostitutes settling the old west, which is absurd. It was mostly just regular people trying to make better lives for themselves.
I enjoy your reactions so much, very entertaining.. and eye candy!
Many thanks to you my friend. 😊😊❤
"For Love of the Game" baseball and Love story
Ouuuu sounds right up my alley! Thank you so much!!!😊😊❤
I stand by my previous statement that Tori is my favorite, but Toy is absolutely adorable. I have to make her my co-favorite.
Tori is the best!!! I love our TnT dynamic 😊😊❤
This is one I hadn't seen yet (saw it in my local thrift store only the other day DVD for 50p, I'm a huge commentary fan so I am hoping it has one, if it's still there I'll pick it up next visit) so I'll watch the abridged version with you and Yoda (and Boo!) then in the future watch the full thing if I get it.
Great cast in this! And beautiful vistas too!
Thanks Toy, I gotta pick me up some sugar in town (and some fish and butter and bread too!)
IMO, one of Costner's best films...
The Postman is an underrated Kevin Costner Epic with even the likes of a Tom Petty cameo. Thanks for the reaction!
In the top 5 of best westerns ever made
Absolutely agree!!! 😊❤
When I saw this in the theater, I kept thinking “why is this rated R?” Then the gun fight happened, oh…that is why! What a movie! I watch it once a year.
Great reaction Toy! I love this movie, went to see it in theaters when it was released with my father. That Geez Louise in the middle of the gunfight was perfect. I was a kid in the late 80’s and 90’s watching westerns and war movies with my father. Glad I had the chance to watch this movie in the theater with him. In the future I hope you checkout two great westerns, Wyatt Earp staring Kevin Costner and Tombstone with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. In Wyatt Earp,Kevin Costner plays Wyatt and tells his life story. In Tombstone Kurt Russell plays Wyatt Earp telling the story of his life in Tombstone Arizona. Both are great movies in my opinion.👍🏻❤️
Wyatt Earp is good and another one that's romantic and great is Message in a Bottle with Robin Wright. Enjoy Open Range and have you watched Yellowstone. You will fall in love with the cowboys and Beth Dutton and Rip are an awesome couple. Great reaction and love the channel Toy. 🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️
Great movie, excited to see it. Loved the holy grail reference.
Wasn’t really a Costner fan….saw the movie “The Postman”, “Dances with Wolves” and new series “Yellowstone” changed my mind 👍
Toy, you liked this, you will like The Sacketts 1979, and the 1st Magnificent Seven 1960
Nice! Thank you. I can't wait to check these out. I did like this a lot do I can't wait to see what these will be like 😊❤
Great reaction! ❤😊
Thank you very much 😊😊❤❤
Great reaction! I’ll recommend Silverado, For Love of the Game, Dances With Wolves, Draft Day, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams. That should get you started. 😎
Nice!!! Thank you so much!!! I can't wait to see these 😊😊😊❤
Dances with wolves is a great movie Costner is at his best you'll love it . Duvall is one of my favorite actors of all time you should check some of his movies or try Lonesome Dove it's a great mini series
Definitely need more Duvall! I absolutely will 😊😊😊❤❤
They built that whole town by hand for the film, absolutely a masterpiece
O.m.g., how could i firget, field if dreams!!, the u touchables, no way out!!!!!
Excellent reaction 👏
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed watching here with you all 😊😊😊❤❤❤
"The Postman" and "Dances with wolves" also "Waterworld"
Love this flick!
It is awesome 😊❤
Underrated movie.
Cowboy got you melting 🤣🤣🤣🤣
What a great laugh you have
Costner- Water World
Thank you 😊❤. Sounds fun!!! 😁😁😁
You should watch the series with Kevin Costner, Yellowstone, it's a modern day western. Great show. It's 5 seasons so far. Not sure if we are getting anymore.
Oh wow!!! Sounds like I got some binging to do! If it's anything like this, I know I'll catch up quick 😊❤. Thank you.
Costner movie: The Guardian. If you enjoyed the romantic stuff in this u will love this movie also. Also stars Ashton Kutcher, it's about the extreme difficulty of being U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmers and divers.
Oh wow! I definitely want to check that out. Thank you so much 😊❤
No Way Out and Mr. Brooks are my two favorite Kevin Costner movies.
The Kevin Costner versuon if Wyatt Earp is really good. And for Robert Duvall Lonesome Dove is top notch perfect
