Heh did you know that in Japan this game was originally called ume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and they just swapped names and sprites out with Super Mario Bros when they released it in America? The real Super Mario Bros 2 is only part of the Lost Levels in America

Like this 0:19? It’s to grab items twice. If you press B on the right frame as you exit the door, you are able to grab an item but the game thinks you don’t have one. Since the game doesn’t think you have one, you can enter a door, or pick up a second item hence what is done in 0:19.

Because this wasn't originally a Mario game and Sprite changes were kinda rushed.
