a lot of the boxers reuse a bodytype from someone else to save on cartridge space, and it's actually been that way since the original arcade one for example, mike tyson himself actually uses piston hondo's body iirc

He’s fairly hard at first.But once you memorize how to dodge his moves he’s very easy. This is a hard game but once you analyze all of the opponents moves you will be able to beat it.

Even in the original game’s manual that originally came with the cartridge, in the bio for the Bruiser Bros. the game said that “both brothers have near identical records and since only of them can be the champion the fight between brothers had to take place and Nick Bruiser defeated Rick.”
From what I could find online and various speedrun videos, you have to counter two of Nick's punches and get a 2nd Knockdown as fast as possible after the first and he won't get up.
I wonder if programmers design the Punch Out games with the speedrunners in mind. If I was designing a boxing game I wouldn't be thinking, "let's make sure everyone can be knocked out in under a minute. Hell, some of them can be done in under 10 seconds."
Theory: Rick Bruiser might have actually let Nick win. Rick may have joined boxing along with his shy brother who wants to be a boxer to help him fulfill his biggest dream, despite not having much of a boxing passion himself, so he helped Nick defeat everyone and let him KO him

i best this game without raking damage for the 2nd time! it was painful just like how i remembered it
