- Menopause causes a lot of changes in the body. A decrease in estrogen causes decreased lubrication and vaginal atrophy. The good news is, you CAN do something to help, without medication! This videos goes over tips and exercises on how to get rid of pain with sex after menopause.
It’s great that you’re addressing such a sensitive topic here in this forum. But it is something we all have to deal with at some point in our lives.
This was amazing helpful. Thank you so much!
Huge thank you. Very helpful video. I had given up but now I’m hopeful. Will try these
Thankfully my boyfriend is absolutely awesome! He is patient, sensual, and working with me and making it fun, the way sex is supposed to be :) he is all about making me feel good and nothing about hurting me.
Lucky lady
Thank you menopause! I’ve trained all my life and was surprised when my perineal physio explained that I had to « stretch » that area. I do it every second day, yes no joke, and see a big difference as the pain was like you explained at the entrance. This is a great video as women don’t really realize what causes the pain… but yes my dear ladies it it the pleasure of menopause 🤓! Thank you 🙏
just use vaginal estrogen OMG
i use that - just started a few months ago... better in general but still things have changed :(@@jessicafinnigan1936
@@jessicafinnigan1936not all can.. due to medical reasons. Be careful with your words.
Vaginal oestrogen is brilliant but for some of us, we still have tightness of the tissues regardless
After multiple births, multiple surgeries, menopause and constant pain, at 61 I've lost my femininity. This video has explained alot. Thank you:)
You’re welcome!
I’m 40 and because of surgical menopause has taken my femininity and frankly I’m no longer myself. I never expected menopause to be so miserable 😔
Get some vaginal estorgen it will actaully reapir your tissue not this this is awful
@@vivimedina5925what’s it like ? No sex drive ?
Fabulous! Thank you
Thank you so much for this. I've been suffering for years, not just with sex but also with my yearly pelvic exam. My gyn never mentioned ANY of these things to combat pain that would leave me crying after each exam. She told me either hormone therapy (which I did not want to do because of a history of reproductive system cancer in the family) or there was nothing else to be done for me. In addition to trying everything you said, I will be changing gyn before my next exam!
I truly hope these techniques make a difference for you!
i heard about couple of treatments that are painless. Monalisa and Thermiva .
@@SandraFlores-jj5zb read up on Mona Lisa, and if you consult a doctor, ask about all the side effects. The FDA issued warnings that the Mona Lisa was never intended for things like vaginal atrophy and there have been some reports of women being damaged by it. I don’t know if it was temporary or permanent. Just read everything you can find.
How are you feeling now may I ask ?
you def should look into vaginal estrogen.. has no affect on any cancer history
I appreciated how you get straight to the point.
I find Dr Wolff's vagisan creme to be excellent.
I really appreciate this. I had no idea how much was contributing to the problem.
Hi can I help you 😮
Thank you! Women’s health is so important! So many are too embarrassed to even talk about.
You’re welcome! I really want to spread the message that something can be done and women don’t have to live with this!
@@drkristieennis Hi Dr. Kristie, I just came across your channel and I’m so glad I did. I’m 56 years old , 3 c sections, partial hysterectomy and I suffer from anxiety, but years ago I had palpitations when I started to take HRT so now I’m scared to try the HRT vaginal cream cuz I’m worried that was the cause of the palpitations; nevertheless I have vaginal atrophy and honestly it’s been a few years I can’t have sex with my husband cuz of the pain and discomfort. I feel sooooo bad for him and I feel I’m a horrible wife for not being able to do this with him so I am to the point I trulllllllly need help. I was trying to find a local pelvic floor therapist and I can see your videos are going to be a blessing. What are the two medications you mentioned on this video that help with giving moisture down there ? Sorry for the long message. Thank you and God bless you for helping people out.
This is not women's health this is evil get vaginal estrogen
I not only have the dryness and pain, which feels exactly like tiny razor blade cuts just at the opening but the desire and libido is just not there. The attraction is, we have always had amazing chemistry and now I'm broken. I have just started the vag cream, I'm so desperate to have that lust feeling again instead of it feeling like a chore 😭
I hope this has improved for you. I had a sudden abrupt loss of sexual response, not able to feel arousal. Im attracted to my husband visually but no longer get aroused, and my vagina is dry and feels like its rug burmed during sex even after doing vag moisturizer and lube regularly. I pray for us wen we are left in the dust
Hi can I help you 😮
Ladies----regular masturbation is essential to keep your libido active and your muscles firm and the lube machine working. Do not limit yourself to clit orgasms. You have many spots that can give you an orgasm. Go interior. My personal favorite are my A spot and Cervix combined. Very strong, deep, long-lasting orgasms. Explore. Buy toys to stimulate deeply. Practice, Practice, practice.
Coconut oil works
@@aleecewhite3919how often are you having sex now ?
Where can I find these items you have so helpfully explained? Any links?
Cholesterol meds never thought of that!
This was so informative and makes so much sense, although it may be too late for me. I am now in my 70’s and had a full hysterectomy when I was fifty. It has been downhill since then, with incredible pain and dryness, so much so that I gave up on intercourse, but it can’t hurt to try these things.
Not too late, just have to put estrogen back in the vagina, lubrication or stretching will work without the hormones
Yes. I'm right there with you. However, the jelly does work along with a patient earnest partner.
Thank you.
I have the pain and tightness.
The lubricants from tbe GP are not helping.
Thank you
Fabulous tips! I had no idea my c-section scars would effect my vagina. I'm post-menopause and I'm hurting during intercourse, never had these issues before. I'll try your methods. Thanks!
I m a gynecologist and can guide u on this
Can you exp!sin what she means with the section scar? She says go against it, but with what and how? Thank you.

One thing that is rarely mentioned is this: Women need 20 to 40 minutes of concentrated physical/emotional/psychological interactions in order to be fully engorged with blood in all our erectile tissue. Yes, women have close to or as much erectile tissue as men.
Our valves that close to form an erection all open and close independently, whereas a man's valves that form a male erection open and close near to simultaneously. So men become engorged quickly and women need more variation and duration of stimuli to become fully "hard." Fully engorgement for women will alleviate some of the pain, and yet, the results of research on women's genial anatomy is still relatively new and most practitioners are not even up to speed on a woman's bodily function in this area. Women: you have all these areas with erectile tissue: Perineum Sponge (PS spot), Skene's gland (G-spot), Vestibular bulbs (vulva, on either side of the vaginal opening which help cushion the vaginal entrance), clitoris and its crua.
Lots of real estate to become "hard," which helps reduce pain, lowers the risk of post coital bladder infections and increases pleasure and the intensity of orgasms. Touch yourself and fully engorge your bits regularly (at least weekly for maintenance, at least 3X a week for improvement) so you don't lose function. If you've lost it, you can get it back with practice. Yes, touch yourself and know these spots!!! Buy Sherri Winston's book: Women's Anatomy of Arousal---to learn everything you were never taught------you're welcome! Then spread the word, our bodies have been neglected by science for too long.

Hi can I help you 😮
I think you're cute! I'm glad you're talking about this and helping other females address these issues!
Also yes I think it's a good idea about creating a after menopause lubricating tampon for females!
What about pain after sex? After a hysterectomy. It doesn't hurt during penetration but after doing it for a while and it feels swollen for several days afterwards. Almost feels like after surgery when inside are still swollen after surgery and makes urinating and defecating hurt like labor pain. That's thre best way I can describe.
That can definitely still be coming from muscle and fascia tension. I often see scar tissue buildup after hysterectomy. Loosening up the muscles internally usually makes a big difference.
How would you loosen up the muscles internally?
@@shonmccormick I’d say with the dilator use and the stretching she shows to help blood flow to vaginal area. I heard someone say yoga made a huge difference for them!
@@shonmccormick Seek a yoni massage specialist who has expertise in relieving tension, scars and trauma. What you have is trauma. Only use practitioners who have reviews you can read, who practice touch only one direction (from practitioner to patient), and who's certification can be verified by an organization. I know it seems goofy, but that just our Western conditioning. Trust me, it's a valid medical treatment used in other parts of the world.
I have alot of pain during sex. I would like to know if after using this dilator. Could I potentially use a vibrator to get pleasure.
I am not sexually active.
Number one is getting hormones levels and getting hormone replacement therapy . Then your recommendations
What can you do if you're a type 1 diabetic and took Tamixifen for ten years. Thank you so much for this video.

is there a brand name to the dilator, sources of where to get it?

Crazy that Premarin cream is around $300/ month and Oaphena is much more but these men can get Viagra so cheap

@@rltreasure Do you have a source for that claim?
Don't use Premarin! There are synthetic options. Research Premarin. Its made from pregnant mare urine..so there is much suffering and death fir horses involved. 😥
Yes. Nice
Are these dilaitors, paid for by medical insurance?
Where can I find them?
Post menopause isn’t a thing. Once it starts, it never ends. It continues to be with you for the rest of your life.
What about hormone substitute therapy?
That is something that needs to be discussed with your doctor.
Feels like razor blades in the opening when first trying to penetrate.I understand that low estrogen has alot to do with this.My doctor recommended estradiol for 3 months to see if it will make a difference. I wouldn't mind having an alternative then just putting me on meds
I’m so sorry. I know how awful that pain can be. I would try starting with a small dilator and lots of lubrication.

shea butter is the best second to that cocunut oil...all natural and so smooth. try it!!
I love avocado oil better than coconut.
I am perimenopausal. If I keep having sex regularly (or a lot), will that keep me from experiencing some of the issues women complain of? Like the dryness and the shrinking? Basically, will a dilator really be needed for someone who is having penetrative sex and using an actual penis for that job? Is the dilator more for women who aren’t having sex very often?
Great question! Often times, sex is uncomfortable so this is where the dilator plays a role, to help stretch. If there is no discomfort with penetration, the dilator may not be needed.
Get vaginal estrogen, prevent damage
Thats right! Keep getting it in(literally)😅. My obgyn says if you don’t use it you will lose it. I think its great you still have a libido and are enjoying frequent sex!
Can I register in you doctor practice please my doctor is not giving me information like you are your more open I think he is shy

The hormones I was taking was .9 mg . would it be ok to start that again or not at my age or maybe a lower dose.? What do you think ?
Rhonda Reese that’s definitely something to talk with your primary care or gyn about.
Can you do some hip openers on top of a pillow please

If you have no contraindications, estradiol is key😊
Wondering if organic extra virgin coconut oil is an acceptable lubricant?
That is one of the lubricants I have had my patients use.
From my gynecologist i have heard to never use coconut oil inside the vagina! It has a different PH level and this gives chance to bacterias to grow. Vaginal lubes should be waterbased. Coconut oil is great for our outer skin. I had tried coconut oil before asking my gynecologist and i didn't think it was a great lubricant.
Unfortunately it is absorbed quickly by the body.
Hey Dr. Kristie, I was prescribed a vaginal cream for my dryness, but I did not follow the instructions so good....I slapped it on and did the naughty with my husband. It worked good for me, but seems my husband got treated, too. Now he has "man boobs" that he cannot get rid of. He was in good physical condition, and cannot figure out why this occurred. Is there something I can tell him to do to correct this before I confess? I am going to follow your recommendations from now on BTW!
Oh I’m sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, that is out of my scope of practice! Do you have an OBGYN that you feel comfortable speaking with?
@@drkristieennis Yes I do, thank you for your reply. I am new to your videos, and I have enjoyed every one I have watched!
From what i know men also go through hormonal changes when they get older. Not as intense as women but older men get female features due to their oestrogen and testosterone level changing. And older women will get more masculine features, like in the face and body shape. So who knows, maybe your creme wasn't the cause of the physical changes in your husband
Yikes! I didn’t read carefully either but afraid of burning opted not to let it mix with anything. I’ve learned the hard way that can happen.
I am not a doctor but I I know that's soy mimics estrogen in the body. It will do that to men. Read the ingredients in your food and make sure to have him avoid anything containing soy.
Us men are totally unprepared for the lack of sex and love that comes with menopause. This is happening to my wife and she’s only 41. She wanted sex everyday in her 30s. Now I’m lucky to get it every 2 weeks, and that’s if she’s using estradiol cream, which I think is giving me side effects through absorption. She doesn’t even enjoy the sex when we have it. Five minutes in and she’s trying to make me finish and then showers for 20 minutes lol. I’m basically losing interest in her as a romance partner. Who wants to have sex with someone who’s not enjoying it? It’s really sad.
Good thing she didn't have something serious like cancer, your sex life would be ended.
What a guy.
Organic MCT coconut oil!!!!!!!
Avocado is just about as effective as MCT, but it costs much less. Neutral flavor, and I like the Chosen brand, because it comes in a spray bottle, which I find less messier in the bedroom.
What if you have post- menopausal uro genital syndrome and haven't been sexually active in years? How to get started? I am 57.
The tips and exercises in this video are what I use with a lot of my patients. Definitely check with your doctor if you’re not sure:)
Baseball players used to use Slippery Elm Bark.
Dr. Kristie: How about an excellent lube called Grape Seed Oil , which is not terribly expensive and is all natural, no chemicals. I'm not a girl but I understand pane quite well, and when you are enjoying the pleasures of your wife, if you care, you want them to enjoy it as well. Just a thought.

I have had people use grape seed oil, coconut oil, and olive oil. I have found more women tend to have sensitivity to grape seed oil.
Slippery stuff
My wife said no. Also was on methadone and other meds for crps.
She lost interest. She was crying to as she while packing everything but me. Even took the curtains. And toilet paper holder.
Crying to family that was trying to throw away her clutter. Saying no no I’m losing all my stuff for 25 years. Failing to realize she lost the most important think ( just to keep her goats that permanently damaged my ring finger ) her damn husband. Sorry to rant do not normally cuss .
Wish she would have tried something. Freaking pain management doctors handing out pills.
This is heartbreaking. I’m so sorry to hear this story. I hope you guys can find some peace.

Men o hit the pause button from sex for the next decade.
Hopefully not! That’s why I made this video:)
@@drkristieennis Thanks for the response, my apologies i should have added I did go through about eight years (feels like a decade) of little or no sex or desire from my wife, we are both fit and healthy in our mid 50s. All those years It was really painful for my wife to have intercourse due to dryness. A few months ago she tried CBD oil oral drops daily for other physical reasons and discovered about three weeks ago she was getting a lot of moisture in her vagina we tried intercourse and we talked thru it laughing because for the first time in years she had very very minor pain she said it was tolerable and reached orgasm. I also want to add she said the CBD did nothing to increase her libido, so we've tried a few times since i still have to ask her and she starts out disinterested but ends up really enjoying sex because I think this CBD is helping her with her dryness.

I am not sexually active.
The dilator works to help stretch any internal tightness so it should also help with vibrator use.
