I remember waiting for this and the “Desert Moon” videos to show up on MTV, every time they did I was trilled like the very first time, by the way, I have my DVD collection of your videos now of course, which you were so gracious to sign... Thank you for being more than a hero, an inspiration thru all your music...
Something else I feel I must say while both of us are still living. I battled Leukemia and still am presently. I take a small dose chemo daily that's keeping it at bay for now. Your music has enriched my life. It's helped by bringing joy and giving me strength through many battles in my life. I wanted to be sure you knew how much your music has impacted my life and I'm certain so many others! Thank you for your music from the bottom of my heart... Mr. Dennis Deyoung!
A song that he wrote from a speech he use to give before he played "Come Sail Away" in concert. I remember he told the audience " If you have a dream, why not go for it." That speech still means a lot to me. Thanks Dennis for your words of encouragement, and for one of the most inspirational songs ever written.
The one song I wish DDY would do live now. It motivates me to this day when life gets rough. ‘Winners are losers who got up and gave it just one more try!’
This song pops into my head from time to time, Dennis. You're truly inspiring. Thank you for your music. I'm looking forward to Volume 2 of 26 East! Love Volume 1 and am so glad I bought a copy off of Amazon.
I got that album probly when I was in 7th grade. I know I know it's dating all of us but I always use that saying " Winners are losers who got up and gave it one more try" through my whole life. And yes there's been lots of up's and downs but it's kept me going. And I have pass that saying on to my kids. Dennis you have a wonderful gift and thank you for all your great music.
"Winners are losers who got up and gave it just one more try"...quoted DDY under my graduation photo in my 1985 high school yearbook A timeless lyric from a time gone by, owned a pair of those awesome black baggy pants that tightened around the ankles too....not quite as timeless.
Dennis where you been man? Thank you for uploading! I love your music, and your one of my favorite singers. I grew up in the late 90's, but you guys were part of my soundtrack. Keep sailing away 👊🏻
i would say that the kids in little league when they wanted to give up because they were having a bad game.. one of the best sayings I ever heard.. I still borrow it from time to time...
Hooray!! Love this song & video! The beginning always makes me laugh 😂 Haven't been using Facebook much lately 😊 Hope you and your family are doing well! 🙏 We were just in a local recording studio to record some fresh promotional material for our little cover band--we had never been to this studio before, and we love the guy we worked with! We sure miss seeing you live and are looking forward to Volume II of your album!
This song has been my strength and my inspiration , when i am faced with something that scares me , a job interview for example , This is my go to , this is my anthem ! Thank You !
“Winners are losers who got up and gave it just one more try”...this song has had a major influence on my life. I attribute some of my fiesty-ness to this song! It has become my main core value and has served me well as I’ve faced life’s challenges. I’ve also passed it onto my children and students. Thank you! You have no idea how far-reaching your impact is as a lyricist and musician. Much love to you for that.
Kids today...."What is that thing ringing at the beginning of this video?"... LOL. I jammed hard to this song in college, in the 80's. It would be so cool if they could incorporate that into their live show today...well when they start doing live shows again. Maybe do a remake video of it using zoom. DD and August Zadra could sing the hell outta that song!!!
OF all the Styx songs and DDY solo songs, this is my favorite. Great tune. Covid 19 permitting I have a chance to see him in concert in April and I have asked him on his youtube channel to sing it live and give me a shout out. But since i have been waiting so long to see him (last saw him with STyx after their Edge of the Century album came out) I have a fear CV19 will keep it from happening.
I know what you mean I saw him for the first time back in 2010 and it was a fun show the only Downer was not getting a picture taken with him or get to meet him either although but I heard later a radio station held on to some crew and backstage passes as well as his autograph for me I did write him a fan letter which I hoped he would keep but I got it back instead

One of my top 5 favorites you wrote

Probably the most positive and inspirational song ever. Thank you Dennis for this masterpiece ❤️.
This song gave me the confidence to follow my dreams. Thank you for writing it.

His 2 albums should have done better better on the top 100 than they did. This one and Desert Moon were wonderful hits.
I had the album back in 1984, and this is my first time watching this video
Whaddaya mean, you HAD??? I still have it! AND the CD...😄
Yes indeed, another vocal Masterclass in Belting.

Great song Dennis! Somehow I missed it when it came out. It must not have been released as a single. My wife thought it was awesome too.
I think his record company dropped the ball on promotion because it didn't get hardly any radio play. Just MTV.
He was obviously doing pretty well. He had a pushbutton phone, after all.
SUCH A GREAT , POWERFUL AND POSITIVE SONG. YOU ARE A HERO TO ME DENNIS. YOU ARE A TRUE AMERICAN TREASURE. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
Why was Dennis not with the band and in another part of town? Makes no sense luckily they didn't kick him out the band. Lol.
One of my favorite bands, and his version of the best of times from his house was epic
Absolutely! That was so awesome!
Dennis is the kind of guy you still gotta like ... no matter what.
And I don't know why. ... o_O
Hey Dennis, love so much of your work, including your first two solo albums, and of course this song!
Can't wait for you to upload Call Me!!!

Dennis you are my hero since I have 16. Now I have 58. It is Patrick the music teacher you met in Quebec.
This is more like the heavy metal styx are associated with
this video was inspiration for american idol lol
I’m sure someone knows more than I, however, can anyone tell me is that Suzanne in the light colored shirt at the 6:04 mark in the video?

That's what is so great about Dennis, his music always contains positive lyrics & a positive message within the song itself!
One of my all time favorite songs!! And an ultimately fun video to go with it. LOVE it!
Dennis I love watching these old videos! Your music is the best.
Dennis still on top of your game! Fantastic job!!

Sorry Dennis this song is hurtin for certain
This should have been a Styx tune.
I was told that Dennis DeYoung was about in his mid to late 30s when he did this video wow that makes him hardly much older than me back then
Dennis (born 2/18/1947) was 37 in 1984 when Desert Moon was released.
@@davidrose8842 which makes him 39 by the time I was a baby
Still loving Dennis DeYoung in 2020
Me too I started liking Styx when I was 14 as I recall their greatest hits album came out when I was just 6 years old
