Lone Cyclist Yes. Hard to believe I'm just seeing this video for the first time ever! We had MTV back then which watched heavily, but they never played this. It was Too My Much Time On My Hands or Mr. Robot. My girlfriend was 2 yrs older at the time was leaving for college. This song and Journey's Faithfully were our songs that summer. 80's Music=Real Music!
Very underrated song. It reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1983 but this was not one of their better known hits. It's a depressing but very deep song and I can relate to it very much because it reminds me of a very memorable relationship I had with my ex and I wish we had never parted ways.
It is a very good ballad! I just recently heard a couple of their ballads from the late nineties paradise and while there's still time. Plus they still had great ballads from the past such as lady, baby, and the best of times. Plus ballads from 1990 like show me the way and first time. Terrific songs indeed!
I still remember this on the jukebox and dancing in the early morning hours at Pizzeria Uno with my very good friend who was leaving for the army. What a magical night.
when I separated from my first wife, I listened to this song a thousand times, but eventually I picked myself up, moved on and met the woman who I would also call my wife, we have been married for over 20 years, and this song no longer has any effect on me...
Best natural singer ever. Best 70's band ever. Why they're not in the hall of fame proves it's so political. As for Styx, ya you guys can still tour , BUT WITHOUT. DENNIS, your're not really Styx
Styx with Dennis DeYoung were Godlike. This was one of the first songs I ever grew attached to in my childhood this and "The Best Of Times." I wish there could be a true Styx again one day I don't mean a reformed Styx because it's clear that won't happen. I mean a band like them, not exact, but close enough to be this emotionally riveting. Maybe I'm the one to do it since this is my comfortable singing range who knows. I just miss real instruments and real passionate vocals that high note he hits is chilling!
I've got to say a lot of singers back in the day put all their effort into songs. Technology today, like autotune just gives the magic all away... Here are some great singers in my opinion: Freddie Mercury, Dennis Deyoung, Michael Sweet.
It's interesting to know that that woman in the picture is Dennis DeYoung's actual wife. A nice and emotional touch. They're still together to this day.
I always thought Dennis DeYoung had a voice for the musical stage - very strong and theatrical. And Tommy Shaw is the cutest thing in this video. lol This wasn't one of their biggest hits, but I always enjoy hearing it.

From the golden age of MTV. The early music videos seemed to try to make musicians into actors. I can tell Dennis DeYoung was into this but I'm not sure the rest of the band was too. Still, an excellent power ballad and one of Dennis' finest vocal performances, even if the acting in the video was a little hammy and cheesy
Dennis De Young was indeed a great vocalist with incredible versatility and a unique vibrato. Unfortunately, he was on a different course than the band was, and you can't blame them for that. Their talents weren't required as often once they began with the rock ballads. Despite this fact, this band did some great songs, all of them memorable in their own way.
Rock music was changing because Punk and New Wave came along. Genesis, Rush and Pink Floyd also went pop, New Wave and Arena Rock/Art Rock respectively
@@TJR-ClassicRockCorner0124 This is the real truth. Even Van Halen had to change. Tommy and JY did not have the talents to adapt with the changing music scene
@@PikesvilleAl Those Kilroy detractors are stuck in hard rock mode. Tommy was also keeping his hard rock music for his solo albums as he was planning on quitting the band at the request of hangers on. JY even experimented with guitar synthesizers and embraced them. Dennis’s musical templates were The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones.
i love styx, i wish they could have made it work. i liked that shaw is more rock & deyoung is more pop/MT. the band is more interesting that way, more variety of styles. i got to see them in the 90's before deyoung's final exit. one of the best concerts ever.
This is easily their most underrated hit. It's an excellent break up song. Dennis DeYoung was great with them. Tommy Shaw has a good solo in this tune too.
so you're telling me this guy who's been in prison for framed manslaughter & a rock concert, and who has been eating nothing but dr righteous's fried chicken for years, and who punched a roboto in the gut, has a romantic subplot? wild
This Was Only A Movie. Dr. Righteous Was The One Who Framed Kilroy By Having The MMM Storming Into The Stage Surrounding Kilroy And His Band And Blocking The Scene So That The Audience Couldn't See What Was Going On. While This Was Happening, Somebody Ripped The Guitar Out Of The Player's Hands And Beat An MMM Protester Over The Head With It Until He Died, And They Shoved The Guitar Into Kilroy's Arms Which It Was Covered In Blood. So Evidently, Kilroy Was Falsely Accused Of Killing A Protester. And They Thought They Found Him Guilty, So They Sentenced Him To Life Imprisonment. And Yep! You've Guessed It! While Kilroy Spent 5 Years In Prison, He Ate Nothing But Dr. Righteous's Greasy Fried Chickens. When Kilroy Was Getting Ready To Escape From Prison After 5 Years, He Actually Kicked A Roboto In The Balls! And Then He Used The Roboto's Body As A Mask And A Costume, And He Worked His Way Out Of Prison.
@@jasondudash5501 Thanks for that part of the story. I saw this concert but I can't remember how Jonathan Chance got involved. Do you know, if you do please tell me.
I was so lucky to get to see Dennis DeYoung in concert. He is awesome ! I also seen Styx in concert (without him) about 6 times. They are one of my fav bands.
Dennis said there's was originally supposed to be a love interest for Kilroy, but they cut it cause it would distract too much from the main characters. Nonetheless, they felt song was still good enough to keep and they kinda improv'd a music video on the Kilroy prison set. The hotel room setting could be interpreted as more of a flashback than anything else.
I say what Dennis said is just a police officer's exit. The fact that Don't Let It End doesn't fit the concept, it should've been replaced with a more in theme track. Love interest, my foot!!
One of the best, under rated songs ever, with an outstanding guitar solo!!! First time I heard it I needed to hear it constantly while in my teens with a first love. Easy to laugh now over a broken heart.
Dennis De Young's songwriting makes the difference to many other bands at that time. And pay attention: he made octave leaps a long time before George Michael
Dennis DeYoung is the heart of STYX. I hate the new singer. Not that I hate him. He is a good singer, but face it. STYX is now a cover band. Dennis also is a better singer.

The old tale was Samson lost his powers when his hair got cut. Dennis DeYoung when he shaved his mustache off didn’t lose his voice and in fact took care of it as he’s never smoked cigarettes or weed (he ate a hash brownie and hated it) never did hard drugs nor drink heavily. Tommy Shaw in this was drinking heavily and snowballed his cocaine addiction after Linda Blair left him over his drug addiction and infidelity with her horse groomer while she was competing at an equestrian showjumping competition (she quit using after her 1977/78 arrests). Tommy sounds nasal now. JY never drugged but the Panozzos had alcoholism and other lifestyle choices that were not good.

Badly conceived album. But this song. And in D flat. Maybe you needed to have been in high school in the 80s to get it. Might not live beyond that time.
For the classic Styx experience, go see "Dennis Deyoung and the Music of Styx." Dennis is the lead singer on this song and the vast majority of Styx hits. The band currently touring as "Styx" doesn't include him.
Yes. I am a long-time Gowan fan. A great artist, difficult to label, kind of pop, but at his best a little prog and rock in there too. He's had Alex Lifeson (Rush), Ken Greer (Red Rider) and Jon Anderson (Yes) guest on his albums. Also, Styx usually feature Gowan doing Criminal Mind in the setlists for sometime now too.
Nope. Styx played and recorded together until 1999. Their reunion tours in 96 and 97 are two of the finest tours of all time along with a greatest hits and a live album to support
Neat to see Tommy Shaw playing an Ibanez Artist AR Series guitar from the "golden era" of Japanese finely crafted guitars. I had the AR-100L which was the entry level Artist with a "lighter than Les Paul" feel and a great live and recorded sound.
Sadly Tommy destroyed the guitar on stage at the Capital Center in Largo, MD in June 1983 in a paranoid cocaine induced rage which curtailed the show and the Kilroy tour for six weeks afterwards.

Personally, my favorite STYX album....
I always cry when I listen to this heart breaking song.
if you are not a easyboy you will cry.
LOL.
I cry every time I hear this song too.
It reminds me of a such innocent time in my life as a child. 😭
80s sure is the golden age of music 👍✨
This song is near perfection! what can i do, if this song still make me cry....
It is a very good ballad! I just recently heard a couple of their ballads from the late nineties paradise and while there's still time. Plus they still had great ballads from the past such as lady, baby, and the best of times. Plus ballads from 1990 like show me the way and first time. Terrific songs indeed!
I meant the song babe not baby.
Tienes toda la razón, los 80's fue una década muy prolija en música
Yep I could win the lottery and still cry when hearing this song...😢
I still remember this on the jukebox and dancing in the early morning hours at Pizzeria Uno with my very good friend who was leaving for the army. What a magical night.
Wow this song was released in 83’ Styx is legendary. Dennis DeYoung is the man! Missing the 80’s! ❤
when I separated from my first wife, I listened to this song a thousand times, but eventually I picked myself up, moved on and met the woman who I would also call my wife, we have been married for over 20 years, and this song no longer has any effect on me...
Best natural singer ever. Best 70's band ever. Why they're not in the hall of fame proves it's so political. As for Styx, ya you guys can still tour , BUT WITHOUT. DENNIS, your're not really Styx
Styx
"Don't Let It End"
Kilroy Was Here
A&M Records, 1983
Styx with Dennis DeYoung were Godlike. This was one of the first songs I ever grew attached to in my childhood this and "The Best Of Times." I wish there could be a true Styx again one day I don't mean a reformed Styx because it's clear that won't happen. I mean a band like them, not exact, but close enough to be this emotionally riveting. Maybe I'm the one to do it since this is my comfortable singing range who knows. I just miss real instruments and real passionate vocals that high note he hits is chilling!
One of my top 5 'angst' songs. So beautifully and painfully sang by the great Dennis de Young. ❤😢
This song holds a special place in my heard. Brings back great memories.
Man why does this song hits to the bones?
Because all of us have loved and lost somebody special in our lives, and now they're gone, regardless of the reason. 😢
Shabu
I've got to say a lot of singers back in the day put all their effort into songs. Technology today, like autotune just gives the magic all away...
Here are some great singers in my opinion: Freddie Mercury, Dennis Deyoung, Michael Sweet.
Yes, and Brad Delp, Steve Perry, Stevie Wonder - add to the group as being able to belt it out... Going into the 80's, George Michael
Love this song!!! One of my favourites still.
Best part of the song is at 1:49 when the guitars sync to "hold you tight".
I like the end of the solo when the guitars harmonize
It's interesting to know that that woman in the picture is Dennis DeYoung's actual wife. A nice and emotional touch. They're still together to this day.
I thought she might be his Wife. Thanks for Texting.
Styx is awesome
Thanks for uploading this. I remember seeing this on mtv when the song was out. I found it once on here, but it disappeared. Great song....
Such a great song....
I love styx there amazing and hot love you guys Nana
My favorite Styx song of all time.
Notice the barcodes as prisoner numbers on their uniforms
this is music!
Finally, a video for this song has been uploaded.
I always thought Dennis DeYoung had a voice for the musical stage - very strong and theatrical. And Tommy Shaw is the cutest thing in this video. lol This wasn't one of their biggest hits, but I always enjoy hearing it.
It's one of their 8 biggest going to #6 on the Billboard top 100. But yes it might be the one you hear the least of those.
Beautiful song makes my heart cry and get happy at the same time, such memories
He wrote a musical and also was in Jesus Christ Superstar as Pilot.
@Durian Durian I was complimenting Dennis's voice. I wasn't saying one was better than the other.
All of them are cute in my opinion. But Tommy and JY hold a special place in my heart. Dennis too of course.
ive seen 300 concerts and this was the best in ever heard at 70 years old me and my brother were crying from memories
This video was actually here a few years ago but for some reason it disappeared. Now it's back and I'm glad. This is such an underrated song and video. Later!

Hot Dawg With Mustard!! Love your user name and pic..Cute and clever.😄
Timeless! They don't make songs like this nowadays...all I can hear is revivals..glad to be born on 80's era.
How tommy shaw dance while hitting guitar makes me smile..!!
Great Voices in Music....

And here Dennis De Young
Many others, just listed some, happy that I was a part of this generation of talented singers.
Thanks for upload
Sweet song! pictures of you still make me cry! that's true too!
i heard this on the radio just a few minutes ago and i fell in love with it so i had to find it again
It’s a magical song 🎵
Stupid are those who dislike ! This is the read deal dang! 👌👌👌
No.
Aye!
For real!
Only if your IQ is below 80. There's literally no Songwriting skill in this.
JoseitoEdlVodao Yea I bet your songs are truly poetic. Speaking of low IQ.. you’ve read the title so you know who’s the artist and name of the song so why are you even here..I’m saying why did you even click on it. 🤔 just a troll right. 🙄
Sounds just like Russell Hitchcock of Air Supply.
not at all

@@naturesfinest4871 You’re just mad that your mother can’t even catch my eye.
A true classic...
Probably my number one favorite Styx song to sing along with.
i love styx, i wish they could have made it work. i liked that shaw is more rock & deyoung is more pop/MT. the band is more interesting that way, more variety of styles. i got to see them in the 90's before deyoung's final exit. one of the best concerts ever.
Man this thread makes me laugh so much. It almost makes me feel like I'm watching the.. movie(?) concert(?)
Jason Dudash Please don’t capitalize the first letter of every word.
yeah jason, that's illegal.
I was so lucky to get to see Dennis DeYoung in concert. He is awesome ! I also seen Styx in concert (without him) about 6 times. They are one of my fav bands.
i feel this should have been the first single in kilroy was here
Dennis agreed. If this was released first then there would have been no complaints about Kilroy.
Don't let it end was my fav breakup song ever.... listened to it a lot:)
I love the song and video, but it didn't fit the Kilroy concept.
maybe it's supposed to be Kilroy trying to contact his wife while he's in prison? I know it's a bit of a stretch, but still...
What does the phrase police officer's exit mean?
A cop out
One of the best, under rated songs ever, with an outstanding guitar solo!!!
For all of you youngsters, that is called a telephone that is sitting on the table that he holds to his ear at the end. Really dates this song.
Orrphan.....yes it dates this song! Rotary phones
Stop. You're scaring them.
Orrphan+ So does the lamp!
Thank you. I was thinking it was an old gadget so called headset wiyh one big earphone and a one big microphone. By the way, i am only 5 years old
Thanks, I was wondering what that was.
DON'T LET IT ENDDD!!!
37 years later… my God, this is still so awesome - maybe even more awesome.
37 years??? Way to make me feel old!, 😄😄
@@lolita413 I know - Sorry about that… but from all these comments at least we know we’ve got lots of company! 😉
Tommy i think was in 3rd grade at the time
when they took on Tommy that's when styx ended as a Great Band, sorry but truth is he turned them pop they were rock before. fuk'd em' all up . he should have teamed w/frampton back then they would've been great dou as well. tom and ted had a craptastick end with their venture .
2:14 one of the best guitar solos ever in my book! 😎🤘
Every since had records albums of Styx songs and albums though years. Sure bring back great my High school days 1980-1983. Still enjoy classic hits songs of 1970s songs. Thank You. Truly amazing music artist, singing from his heart and great songwriter. Thank You love ❤️. All great music artists in the Band. Thank You 😅. Truly hard find a person I can trust in this world. More like strangers. Times will be say goodbye, why never going last at all. Why your in love with someone else. Three is crowded.
Hello 👋 Julie
How're you doing,
it's been a long journey, and I'm nothing without amazing fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness,
All love to you and yours ❤️
Loved them always!!! Saw them in concert!! ❤️
It's impossible to stop singing this song!
I don't know if it happened, but Tomy Show, deserves an award for led us a very important legacy on what playing the guitar is about ,he should impart guitar clases,I won't be something, people as a legacy of talent and art,who can say "Tommy Chow tought me to play guitar"
Great song, but the video is average. Nevertheless, I love the music of Styx!
Daniel Crowe -they phoned in this video 🤣
Don't Let It End
Dennis DeYoung
What can I do, pictures of you still make me cry
Trying to live without your love, it's so hard to do
Some nights I'll wake up, I'll look at your pillow
Hoping that I'll see you there
But I get up each day, not much to say, I've nowhere to go
Loneliness fills me up inside 'cause I'm missing you
So if you'll give us a chance to remember
The love we had once together
Wait and see
Time is all that we really need
I'm begging you won't say no
I mean to tell you
Don't let it end
Baby we could have so much more, more, more
Don't let it end
Honey please don't walk out that door, door, door
Well I'm telling you babe, I've made my mistakes
But I'll make you this promise, I'll do what it takes
I'll be there to protect you and hold you tight
You got my lovin' baby every single night
Don't let it end
I'm begging you, don't let it end this way
Don't let it end
I'm begging you, don't let it end this way
Don't let it end
Baby we could have so much more, more, more
Don't let it end
Honey please don't walk out that door, door, door
Don't let it end
I'm begging you don't let it end this way
Don't let it end
I'm begging you don't let it end this way, no, no, no
No, no, no
What will I do
If you say we're through
I need you to stay, honey
Don't let it end this way
I had this album when I was 9
This song > People who rejected you.
Hace falta decir que es una gran canción? pues lo es.
D Atkinson Larry Cowan ain't exactly chopped liver. Check out his catalogue.
August Zandra..
that's a better job being Tommy Shaw then Jason scheff tried to be Peter cetera in Chicago
@@morticiaaddams7866 but he ain't Dennis
The Actor Kirk Cameron and Dennis D Young resembled each other alot back in The1980s in Kirks Teen years.
I'll say it again, Tommy Shaw is so underrated! As is the whole group
Shame it had to "end"!😕
Dennis' partner looks like Karen Hill from Goodfellas. Maybe that's why he's in jail.
One of the best voices of rock..
I just wonder why Styx was never inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame ?
To me the greatest voice of 80 together with Steve perry and Michael McDonald
One of my faves by Styx.
Dennis IS Styx. The usurpers might as well be called Sticks.
