I love this technique...
Thank YOU for taking the time
to give us a Step by Step tutorial.
I have not tried this technique with the gold and white alcohol inks. I’m excited to work with them. Eventually, Imwill come back to,you for the info on applying the shiny sealer, which I watched on one of your other video. You explain the various processes so very well. Thanks, Jane.
Love your videos and appreciate all the great tips. Thank you for sharing!
Silvia Arndt 👍🏼😊 thanks for watching!!
Gorgeous!! I’m mostly a card maker, but just bought some alcohol inks and can’t wait to use your techniques in my card making. Growing up my grandfather dabbled in geology as a hobby. He had a rock cutting and polishing machine and a lot of these designs remind me of the geodes we used to go out and look for in the desert. TFS!!!
Michelle Brown cool. 💕😊
I don’t know if you realized it but your camera was not in focus. Thanks for the tips, I could imagine what you were talking about but I would have loved to see it in focus to get the details.
Love love love your videos!
So COOL Jane...TFS!
Nancy Lynn Thanks, Nancy 😊
Loved your video today! I was wondering what is the difference between the extender, the clean up solution and the alcohol ink blending solution. I am very new to this. Thank you for your help!
Excellent video- great info 🎨
Andrea Harutunian Thank you, Andrea 😊
You're awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and knowledge on alcohol ink techniques. Love your work it is very inspiring. May God continue blessing you and your beautiful talent!!!
Minerva Martinez Salgado thanks so much. Always nice to read kind words.
Hi Jane, great little video. I shall be back to watch more and good luck with website launch. I am learning lots x
Glad I just found your videos you definitely have some new ideas. Thanks
Jan Weaver I'm so glad! Welcome! 😊
Jan Weaver I
Terrific presentation Thank u
Mary Dailey 😊😊
I love your videos and your art! I also drink butter coffee and love it.
Thanks great video and a new coffee recipe to boot! Are the extender and clean up solution the same as the alcohol blending solution ?
Lovely! Can you use the gold and the extender on top of dried acrylic paint please?
I have the Jacquard Pinata inks. I like them because I can buy individual bottles at local art supply stores whereas if I go to Michael's, I usually only see the set of 3 inks by Tim Holtz/Adirondack. Canadian price $18 for the set. My first set was Brea Reese because I could get the set of 3 in the basic colors - red, yellow, and blue. Since then, I have stuck to the Jacquard brand.
You are so welcome. Thank you for watching!! 🙏🏼
So pretty thank you
Hi Jane, love your videos and look forward to the e-classes. In your opinion is there a big difference between the Piñata and Ranger inks? And which, of the two brands for metallics do you prefer? Thank you.
Love the videos. Can u use alcohol instead of the other two soloutions?
Love the marbling. I am new to alcohol ink. Is it possible to get this marbling effect on tiles?
Thanks for this info as I have only used extender to get beautiful effects by blowing and now I will try the clean up solution. Be careful with that butter coffee...butter hardens the heart arteries :( Cheers happy painting. PS- try Inktense pencils or blocks as I'm sure you will love them!!
Do you use Mod Podge to glue your pieces to the board and in layering?
I know that Patricia Wilson had made the comment about sealing a canvas and using the inks, do you have any suggestions on what to seal the canvas with? One more question, Could you get a similar effect using a wood canvas with a sealer? Hmmmm🧐🧐🧐🧐!
By the way, I myself like your videos and find them informative and interesting, I really don’t understand why some people feel the need to leave negative remarks, it boggles the mind... Bravo to you and your very elegant counter-replies!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Leah Kaestner hey thanks for watching. Sealing canvas prior to inks I would recommend kilnz primer if it’s for a personal project however this is not a fine art Archival product so if you’re selling I would suggest using Golden Products. As for wood you should start with Golden GAC 100 and govfrom there. I have e -courses launching June 1st all on alcohol inks, collage and resin and all these questions get addressed, demo’d and troubleshot. Thanks for the positive feedback. I’m used to the trolls by now. Lol.
How can I find out to buy the gold alcohol ink.
Do you have course on how to create drsigns with all our papers
What do you use to glue the pieces on top of other pieces of paper
Your work is beautiful! I was wondering if you could tell me how to stick the Yupo paper to the wood panel?
Sherry Saulnier watch my video - How to mount yupo to wood panel.
I love your work. I wondered if one could seal a canvas and then use alcohol inks. What do you think?
Patricia Wilson Thanks, Patricia 😊 yes you can seal canvas and then use inks. I prefer using yupo because I feel you get better results and greater colour vibrancy. 👍🏼
FYI it doesn't really 'start until 5 minutes'
Hi! Great video - thanks for the tips! One question. To date, I've only worked with alcohol inks on ceramic tiles, which requires a final coating of spray polyurethane. I found some Yupo paper recently and picked up a small pad to try (it does come in a 5 x 7 size, FYI). You said that you finish your paintings by putting them on a wood panel and then coat them with resin. Will spray polyurethane also work? Thanks again!
Betsi Newbury you should test all spray products. I don’t always use a spray before I resin. I have e-courses launching early June that covers my entire process
Love your videos on the different techniques. I am just starting out with alcohol ink and some people mention that one should use a mask while working with the ink, but I noticed a lot of artist not wearing one. What are your thoughts about it?
Ulli Nerenberg do what’s best for you.
Why do I get lumps in my dried ink?
There is ranger gunmetal fixative
Thank you for your video, Jane it was very informative. I would like to know the best way to use inks with color along with the gold. Do you put the color on top of the gold or the gold on top of the color? Also, how do you get the gold to spread? Do you use blending solution to do that and use the drip method? I’m having a little difficulty so a little help would be appreciated thank you so much.
hilda magilow that’s a lot to answer. I’ll be offering e-courses soon which will answer a lot of this. You can sign up at modminiart.com/join. I also have a video on metallics. So maybe check that out.
Really cool technique I've not seen before so thanks for sharing👍 I'm new to UA-cam videoing as well- I have subscribed to you as currently my favourite new obsessions are alcohol inks and acrylic pours ..
HybridWorld Art hey thanks so much. Yes acrylic pouring is definitely addictive 😝. Your channel is great.
Seems like an expensive waste of ink.
carol johnson Depends on the look you’re going for. By no means do you have to use this amount for your own personal projects. Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you for sharing! It's beautiful.
But now I want butter coffee (and I have no coffee maker at home...)
Antonea Payan thanks for watching 😊 time to invest in a coffee maker and a magic bullet 😉
The smallest size Yupo comes in is 5x7👍
Is the white a white mixative or something else? I guess what I’m asking is white alcohol ink actually called a mixative?
can you do a full video start to finish on the piece you showed at the end of the video please )
Ian dykes sorry I don’t do videos of work I sell. Thanks for watching 😊
Clean up solution ?
Thank you for this learning. I need to ask, can I use this as background and then use more colours on top? Will it smudge/run into the metallics?
tazeem thanks for watching. You can layer ink on top yes but you need to make sure it has completely dried. You should also avoid using blending or clean up solution on a second layer if you don't want it to mix/blend together with the layer underneath. Hope that helps. Cheers. 😊
Thank you. I'm new to this. I will make note of not using blending/clean up solutions as you've mentioned above. U
The quality of your video goes to 240p so the image isn't very clear. I know filming and uploading higher quality takes more space on the computer, but I still recommend for art videos to go for 1080p HD.
Arijana Lukic it’s only this one and one other. I had issues at the time. All my videos are filmed in 4K now. Thanks for watching
can we use 99% alcohol or it has to be the same as yours?
I hope to write the tools used and the type of inks that I understand the language
beautiful effects I'd like to know how you finish it with Resin. When I used wc paint on Yupo it will reconstitute the minute it gets wet. you can wash paint off the page by wetting it. I know when alcohol inks dry they are supposed to be permanent but I've not used them on Yupo so tell me how this works please. Jewell Moebus
Jewell Moebus give yupo a go. You’ll like it. I have a video using resin over alcohol inks
What extender or clean up solution do you use with Adirondack inks please,?
windrushblue Adirondack Tim Holtz carries ‘blending solution’ which is the equivalent of jacquards extender. They don’t carry a clean up solution but you can use isopropyl alcohol if you aren’t sensitive to smell. Just make sure you get 99% as the 91% contains a higher water content. Otherwise the clean up solution performs the same but has little smell.
Love your work, but you put it to close to the camera and I can only see a small portion of your work. It looks beautiful and I bet using a base of deep red, purple or green would show off that metallic finish even more. Great ideas, thank you for sharing.
Mimi Prays Thankscforcthe camera advise. 😊😊 Yes Red looks amazing underneath.
Thanks so much, really cool! Where do youu get the large sheets of Yupo? What is your web-site?
Liz Hamilton in Canada I buy from Currys Art Supplies. I have two websites janemonteith.com and modminiart.com. Thanks for watching.
Jane. Is the Extender the same as Blending Solution.
Linda Bolon yes just different brands.
Linda Bolon b
The colored sheets are beautiful but what does a person do with all the painted paper? What do you make out of it? I see you have the wood panel finished for hanging. I am lost in a pile of beautiful yup papers.
Darby Dupree check out my website. You’ll see there. Modminiart.com
So happy to have found and subscribed. Just curious why use a paper towel which absorbs so much alcohol ink rather than use a straw or credit card? 🤔😊
Diana LasCruces Thanks, Diana.🙏🏼 I like to use all kinds of tools when using alcohol ink including the ones you've mentioned. I like paper towel too for pulling ink off because I can get different effects. 😊
I am so loving your videos and rewatch......I know you used white, but can you use another colour with the gold ink instead. Would you get this same effect or close to it?
Linda Muir Yes absolutely 😊
Love coffee
Thanks so much for watching. 😊
Jane Monteith where can someone buy your work?
I am new to AI I’d it safe to use the inks without a mask of some sort? No one I have seen working with it talk about any safe precautions.
Chris Garr Hi Chris. Thanks for watching. I personally don’t wear a mask. I’m not sensitive however you may wish to if you have issues. I would also recommend you spend up and purchase the Jacquard Clean Up Solution in replace of pure alcohol. A lot of people who use 99% alcohol find it too strong smelling and while it’s cheaper, Jacquard brand has minimal smell. The inks themselves don’t smell that much.
This is the question I’ve been wanting to ask. I’ve been using 99% isopropyl and even though I always wear a mask it is really affecting me badly. To the point wear I’m wondering if it’s doing real harm to my lungs. I’m going to look into getting the extender instead as I really enjoy working with it and hope I can find something safer for me to use
goinggaga4ladygaga yes use the Jacquard clean up solution in replace of 99% alcohol. It is more expensive but the smell in minor in comparison. Please work in a well ventilated area and you should consider wearing a mask if you are overly sensitive.
goinggaga4ladygaga use the Jacquard clean up solution. More expensive but low odour.
Jane Monteith thanks for replying, I’ve found some on eBay and I’m waiting for it to arrive. Fingers crossed :)
Re: Butter Coffee...try same process with coconut oil
Patricia Jackson I add MCT oil with it.
I don't know if you mentioned it but where can i purchase yupo paper?
blewtori999 You can purchase from the link in the description box. It has all the products I use and yupo paper is on it. Just scroll until you find it. 😊👍🏼

blewtori999 👍🏼😊🙏🏼

Are you still drinking your coffee , lol
Speak slow , please !
Holy shit! You talk forever before getting started.
Dawn Chiaravalli If you create video for mass public then you’ll know you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Lol. But thanks for watching and for your candid remark.
Dawn Chiaravalli I reckon
Omg who gives a damn about the coffee.
Too much talking ugh
anne weber sorry you feel that way. I try really hard to offer value to my subscribers and most of them enjoy. Thank you though for watching, Anne.
Jane...
Never say "Sorry" if they don't like,
tell them there's the door...
I personally am appreciative of all your
hard work...
I love what you do.
Magic,
You might not have gotten very
much out of this video...
Personally I did...
This video was very informative...
Please don't be rude...
if you don't like the way she teaches...
then don't watch it... and don't comment on it.
"UGH"
You dragged this out so much. Like I genuinely got frustrated.
