Restaurants charge a single supplement with buy one meal, get the second one 50% off. No, I don't think it would ever be worth it to me to pay the single supplement on something as expensive as a cruise. I don't even eat at restaurants that do what I mentioned above. We're not lesser people because we're single.
These are great tips for travelling solo. I don't travel much these days due to health issues, which is why I especially love your travel videos. And good to know that I would rather eat dirt and die, as the saying goes, than talk on the telephone. I, am an introvert as well. But, on the rare occasion I can and do travel, being a loner can present travelling alone and mobility issues have come up. Thanks. 🙂👍
The most expensive cabin on the cruise for the cruise line is the 'empty' one! Trust me asking for the same fee can be had especially when close to sailing.

I have asked about having the supplement waived, but have not been successful as of yet. I have gone on both cruise itineraries anyway. Like you, I am still working, and need to budget my time around other co-workers with same vacation requirements. Planning in advance has helped. I am booked on the Hawaii inter island cruise with Norwegian for 2025, and it does allow me to save up prior to the final payment date in October. It also allows me to watch for fare alerts on the air fare over there, or use miles to upgrade. Booking airfare with the cruise line didn't appear to be a good option, as they are always going to book you the cheapest fare for them, not for you. Once you are booked, it's a lock. To me, the flexibility of the schedule is something I want to control. Also, if anything goes sideways, I can deal with the airline directly.

Thanks for these great suggestions. I will keep in mind to be assertive and ask for the supplements waved. I have also learned that sometimes I can get a better deal if I just extend my trip a few days. I ended up getting a month stay at a resort for the same price as the two week stay I had planned. I know it wasn't because I was solo but it is a way to save money and extend my trip. Many of the group tours I am looking at offer better deals for sharing rooms with other travelers. That is one hurdle I would have a lot of difficulty overcoming, especially with someone I just met.

Even though I am married, this makes me so angry. I did not marry until my later 40s, and it always irked me that I had to "pay" for being single or for opting to take a solo trip.
Like you, I prefer to travel arrangements myself, but there are times when I'd consider "human contact" in order to save 50% of the charge.
I had arranged to go on a quilting cruise solo this past February. I knew I’d be among “my own kind” and I do a lot of things solo so it didn’t bother me. The travel agent for this cruise did offer to find me a roomie. I ultimately did not go because of illness but I’m happy to hear that it’s possible to have the single supplement waived. Thank you.

I book last minute.retired fa with flt benefits.ready to go. Like Europe trips.when ncl lowers price to lowest price..and im on next plane to europe.also just go..Sydney,Rio,Greece.My Airline flys to Greece.fly to Athens,ferry to corfu.
Stay a few days.ferry to Santorini and Mykonos too. Love retirement 73 former fa!!
Once on a cycling tour in Ireland, I was paired with a woman and us being roommates for the week worked out fine. Getting paired up with a random female roommate on a ski club trip is S.O.P. , whether it's sharing a loft or room with 2 beds or even sharing a king bed.
The UK is the same, drives me mad that you get offered a price and then they add the single supplement and it doubles. I would like to find a travelling companion but I may be asking a lot. It always used to be the done thing, it would certainly play the holiday companies at their own game and would mean I could go further for longer on less money.

I’m watching your older videos so I don’t know if you will see this but I know someone who just booked a cruise for later this year. He booked it directly through the cruise line and he said that the cruise line employee told him to just book it for two people and then when you get there just say the other person couldn’t come at the last minute. Either the cruise employee was lying to him to get him to book, or he misunderstood the employee, or he’s just a liar which you know! My guess is when he goes on that cruise and says the other person couldn’t make it at the last minute they’re going to charge him the single supplement.

I would be careful of what you have in the background that has name and other personal info on it. Internet creepers have a way of digging up info on people. When you have a lot of followers it could be a hassle you don't want.
It's a shame but in our crazy world, full of creeps... sad.
I would also worry about identity theft.
when sharing a room make sure to ask if they are smoking or snoring. snoring is horrible. at least with smoking they can smoke outside.
