You're a great coach Shane. I've been watched you in 2014. You helped me to cope my depression.. now im teaching my homey Moe, with your techniques. you're such a great Combat Sports coach. GB
"you got to stay loose, you got to stay relaxed". This is the most important advice. Try meditation to FEEL your muscles. If adrenaline kicks in and hardens your muscles, meditate against it and relax them.
Your vids really helped me out recently, some guy tried to harass my girlfriend and me and I managed to land a good unexpected punch before we got outta there.
he tells you flaws and sends you home ? weird usually coaches will give you drills to fix your mistakes. you might be paying for him to send you to learn online lol
@@myname-mz3lo he did give me drills, but I’m kinda in Thailand and he’s kinda in Australia so it’s abit harder then that, also I’m not paying him at all while I’m in Thailand and charged me less so it would be easier for me to get here, he genuinely wants to see me succeed as a fighter 🤗
I lost my last fight. Lost a super close decision but even tho it was close I thought I could’ve won that night and fought very poorly compared to what I’m capable of. I think it’s cause I went for the ko from the start. Went for all power so I was tense and one dimensional compared to being loose and versatile. I think this will do wonders for my issue thank you
when they say stay loose they mean every muscle except the ones that are part of the kinetic chain ... the leg and hip and arm are still under tension ... relaxing the other muscles help gain speed but keep the kinetic chain tense because you dont wanna sacrifice power
Yes, shout out to Bob. The first time I walked into a boxing gym I did some amateur practice on Bob. What I didn't notice was the resistance band hanging over Bob's head. I accidentally hit the resistance band, which sent it flying over the bag rafter above Bob, which hit me in the back of the head. Bob fights back. True story.
I watch a lot of elite boxers jab like this 2:05 , and always thought it was normal. etc I think Even may weather/canelo does it sometimes. Thx for showing the correct technique!
AHA, you've given me a great idea. I don't like my heavy bag. It's getting a bit soft on the top half as the filling settles. But I think I can wrap a body protector around the heavy bag as you have wrapped around your Century Bob. I think the straps will be long enough. Thanks for the idea.
Thank you, Shane ❤ Tip number 4 might actually help me. To my great surprise I do everything else right. But I am, have always been (and probably will always be) slow af
We love you Shane. You're a great person and coach. What's wrong with the thumbnail?? You look like them Innsmouth locals from Lovecraft stories or some suddenly unmasked Men In Black alien !!! Lighted spirit here.... keep em coming tips. Cheers from Morocco.
I was taught in Muay Thai that this “handcuff punching” was a bad idea because you leave your head open during a punch and that your hand should be back by your head when you let the next punch go
I'm gonna answer with the end of the punch. Look at physics and you'll know. Love the comment Do your research... facts, Shane. Thank you so much for giving us the knowledge. Blessings to you and your family.🙏
Im interested but lazy to really research deep into it. If you want to, will you give me an easy explanation to why accelerating at the end of the punch is the answer?
I push and twist with my body for kinetic power but depending the punch lets say a jab or a straight i will flick my arm out kind of like a whip at the end.
Awesome video, thank's! If you also have some new tipps or favorite methods on developping fast twitch muscle fibers, this would also make for a great video!
You should be accelerating the whole way through the strike. By Newtonian definition you have to accelerate at the beginning because you're starting from a position of rest. The definition of "pulling punches" means you stop accelerating at the end of the strike to take the sting off. That said, obviously the strike will rapidly decelerate at the end when you run out of body length and have to choose between continued forward motion or loss of balance. By the same token, if you're cheating your hand out, the jab isn't actually getting their twice as fast, because its not accelerating as much. (Its definitely getting their sooner, but probably not twice.) By the same principles, its not getting there with the same amount of force because its not accelerating over the same distance. I agree with the first and third points...but I don't really like the cheating the hand forward. Great detailed presentation as always though.
One thing that is a total mind-bender is the fact that the fist doesn't move like a car being propelled through combustion -- it's a series of muscle contractions that can accelerate/decelerate/redirect all within different points of the body.
As silly as this may sound but it’s an honest question - up to certain point you have to abandon your fundamentals in order to increase hand speed/getting rid of the telegraph right!? 👀🤔
Thank you very useful tips. You said to activate your lates on the end of the punch, so I tried to punch slowly and I noticed that I tend to activate my delts and traps, that results to an ascent of my shoulder. So I understood that at the end of the punch it is better to have a descent of your shoulder by activating your lats am I right ? Thank you again :)
My jab is a spear that accelerates the fastest just before impact. Nothing I was trained to do. I even slightly bend my front knee so that I'm actually slightly leaning into the angle while using gravity to add extra mass to the impact. Naoya Inoue is also aware of this technique and these dynamic power jabs with gravity assistance...

Yeah man! I totally telegraph my punches with a shoulder drop because I use weighted gloves for exercise! Gotta fix. Thanks!
That makes sense! Dedicate a few rounds a day to shadownoxing without any additional weight in your hands, and focus on perfect form 👍

THE THUMBNAIL
I watch a lot of elite boxers jab like this 2:05 , and always thought it was normal. etc I think Even may weather/canelo does it sometimes. Thx for showing the correct technique!
It can be used intentionally as a feint, to get them to flinch -- the problem is when you're doing it UNINTENTIONALLY 👍

accelerate and tense at the end of strike for effective mass

Very good teacher. A natural teacher.
I still remember watching one of your original videos about hand speed Great video
Punch acceleration: Both. More so at the end, though. That’s where the true power comes.
Slowing down is also acceleration.
Gym looking awesome Shane. Great work!
2:45 absolutely love the nick diaz shoutout
I need this I’m tryna fight fast like how 15 year old Mike Tyson was fighting
But I usually accelerate when throwing and when pulling back because the longer your left open the longer your in a position to get hit
I was taught in Muay Thai that this “handcuff punching” was a bad idea because you leave your head open during a punch and that your hand should be back by your head when you let the next punch go
You won't go the whole fight with that though. So it's a risk you take whenever you want to throw it.
I believe go faster at the end when retracting so your hands are already in the position to be ready to throw another punch... 🙂💨
bob is doing a great job
i like how he just keeps on talking while punching and not even getting tired
Omfg came back just for the thumbnail, so awesome! 😂
