    Flaring the foot out to the side helps to throw the Round Knee (skipping/hopping in, and rotating the hips through the target at the same time). The pivot over the plant foot/hip can be used to add a final snap with the anticipated impact, and, if the inner ball of the foot during that pivot is set strongly as the balance-point, can be used to leverage weight back towards center and recover posture. The flared foot is ready to escape by spinning through, if the knee is caught (but exposing your back is a very risky move. But so is not seeing the spinning back elbow coming! Sawadeekhap, everyone! ). It can also become the lever point for the "Great Wall" clinch spacing defense, clinching with both hands in any position, (full plum, head and bicep, etc.).
    Supergirl's knee is basically the same movement through the torso and hips as the "Stiffarm" teep, but devastatingly sneaky!
    Great video!

    I’m 22 now, The first time I ever had to fight someone I was 15-16, it happened in secondary school. This guy had been bullying me for years and eventually he broke me and I just couldn’t hold it back anymore. My friend had told me that he had been saying stuff about me again so I went and found him. We started scraping straight away, he got some good ones in. Eventually I managed to get him close and knee him in the chest. It ended the fight immediately, the guy was gasping for air. I actually felt quite bad despite all the shit he did to provoke me 😶
    I had damaged the cartilage in his chest apparently, I’m not really sure what that means tbh.

    I was literally just thinking about Supergirl's crazy knees right before you mentioned it. It might be because she's tall or something, but the way her knees/shins extend out almost makes it look like a wide spread jab that covers the opponent's whole lower torso (like a shotgun spread lol). Btw, I'm not sure if it exists but is there a measurement tool to calculates the force of a jab vs a knee? Do you think there's more damage given that the knee bone is chunkier than a hand?

    • @wynsonrao5177
      @wynsonrao5177 Рік тому +2

      You can deduce that knees are much stronger without any measurements. 1: yes it's a much more solid chunk of bone than your small scattered knuckles and 2: it's got the force of your whole hip and leg behind it

    • @chriskerwin3904
      @chriskerwin3904 Рік тому +1

      Those knees are much more powerful than a jab; go hold pads for someone doing both techniques, it's very obvious. It's all the of structure of the leg driving a much larger bone into your target. Think about how big the muscles in your butt, core and legs are compared to you upper body. It's not even close. Btw, she's only really making contact with the knee, the shin isn't doing much damage in that strike.

    • @nathanbarnhart7823
      @nathanbarnhart7823 Рік тому

      Yeah holy shit. I’m not particularly tall or long limbed, but yes, your knees will shatter someone if they’re landed properly (kind of a tall guy weapon, because of the range).

    • @belikewater420
      @belikewater420 Рік тому

      Covering more area is bad and not the goal of most strikes. The idea is to forcefully drive a smaller target with precision through with more force. Like a spear, or a bullet. Surface area affects overall impact. Like how spreading your arms in a backwards fall reduces damage by spreading the force over a larger area.

    • @ML-pd7ps
      @ML-pd7ps Рік тому +1

      You're not drilling enough. If you don't fight the same as you train then you probably don't have a system to train efficiently and effectively. So I would recommend doing Orthodox and Southpaw, 2 rds each stance, 3 or 5 min, and just move in stance. Step by step. Forward, backwards, and side to side. Do atleast 1000 rounds and I don't think you'll have a problem anymore, aslong as you keep drilling tho 💯

      Sounds more like a fear/hesitance of getting hit than a technical problem, assuming you truly have movement down and the safety of shadow boxing hasn't given you a false sense of accomplishment in your technique. I have been there and sparring is truly the eye opener for all those learning with just technique/skill training. Grit and fearlessness is needed as well in real applications.

    • @RickGrimes__
      @RickGrimes__ Рік тому

      @@belikewater420 I think i overestimated my technique in shadow boxing because I truly am technical in shadow boxing, many said that but I’m sparring I wouldn’t say I’m scared it’s just that I’m hesitant and I always focus on what is my opponent doing

    • @belikewater420
      @belikewater420 Рік тому +1

      @@RickGrimes__ you may not consider it fear or are being truly fearful per se, but that hesitancy is likely you worrying about the possibility of eating a few strikes to work your game. Not to say you should charge in blindly, but it always takes me a few good bops to stop caring about what my opponent does and just focus on working. Like you said, worried about what the opponent is doing. You aren't there to worry about their plans, you are there to implement your own game plan. It's hard to overcome at first and I'm definitely working on that at this moment getting back after 4 years out of the arts. Maybe make it a session goal to slip forward, circle in, move forward with your defense and add offense as you get comfortable.

      Micah sent me a message saying he’s decided to retire the Kwonkicker channel since he hasn’t kept up with it, but that Whirlwind Action will remain up. He is pursuing other endeavors with his time.

      Yes, I used to exclusively throw them that way. However, I found that keeps the same side shoulder back, which slightly restrains my hip range of motion.
