Let's not deny this, guys: Despite the Wii U being a huge commercial failure, it had a great library of games. It's a huge shame the console itself didn't do very well.
I honestly feel like a big reason was their decision to name it the Wii U. I had no idea the Wii U was a separate console, I just thought it was like a pro version of the Wii
One day, we will look at super smash bros ultimate and say "those were the days." Hard to imagine video games being more advanced and detailed than they are today
The fact that Nintendo is over 100 years old is amazing, from simple playing cards to the most nostolgic games. Only 1880s kids remember the playing cards
Glad Nintendo is still fighting in the console bussiness despite their ups and downs over the years! The gaming world is benefited so much with Nintendo in than without.
Nintendo has had so many downs because they are not afraid to experiment, unlike Xbox and Playstation. Xbox and Playstation are popular consoles because they stick with what they know has worked before and heavily improve on it more and more. Nintendo just takes a different approach than them where they constantly try new things they've never tried before, no matter the risk of it completely failing, out of curiosity. I say go for Xbox or Playstation if you want a console that is a good console by purely objective standards, and go for Nintendo if you want a console that is unique and has ups and downs to it that no other console has. I trust Xbox and Playstation if I want the best when it comes to measurable standards (frame rate, memory, graphics, security, etc.) and I trust Nintendo if I want a unique and innovative experience other consoles cannot give me, like handheld consoles.
Fun fact: Mario was formerly named Mr. Video, as he was a video game character. Miyamoto renamed Mr. Video, Jumpman, due to the fact that he jumps a lot. While shipping Donkey Kong to a ware house in America, the landlord is named Mario Segale. Miyamoto named Jumpman Mario, saying: “I thought that Mario is a good name.”

And the "2022" in the title is misleading because it's a March 2021 video so doesn't have the Switch _OLED Model_ or the Game & Watch Legend of Zelda.
The Wii U may have done poorly but it had some great features. The gamepad allowed you to still continue your game even if someone else is using the TV, and that was enough of a selling point for little me

Well like many other consoles at the time, it really wasn’t a necessity. Future consoles will probably scrap the idea all together as it takes up for hardware which could be used for other things.
Seeing that clip of Mario Kart on the Wii brought back so many memories of me and my dad racing across those mushrooms. They’ve had their highs and lows, but whatever you think about them, Nintendo was huge for the game community.
Nintendo invented so many things that are considered a staple in the gaming industry, handheld consoles, wireless controller, motion controls, rumble and even virtual reality.
The Wii mini was not exclusively released in Canada. About 6 months after being released in Canada it briefly was available in the US as well for around $100
seeing how successful Nintendo is. its really surprising to find out that the company was founded in the late 1800's, is almost 150 years old, and started out as a small company that makes playing cards.
I didn't realise how much the ps1 oversold the n64...Nintendo really created a monster 😂 I'd still love to see the alternate timeline where Nintendo sticks with Sony and the CDi never gets made. I wonder what the video game market would look like today
Brings back so many memories of my early childhood to now. I remember when I was very little, I had the N64 where I first played MARIOKART. Then I was later given as a present the Game Boy. And then I remember later on I wanted the GameCube which I got I think either for my birthday or for Christmas. And that’s where I first played Animal Crossing. I played the other versions on the other systems as well. I then asked about a year or two later Santa for a blue DS Lite, and a few years later I got the DS i XL which was a surprise present from my grandma. And when I graduated from middle school, my grandma got me the Wii as a graduation present. I eventually also got the 2DS only because it was slightly cheaper and now I have the Nintendo Switch. I still love them all and Nintendo to this day! Animal Crossing, Super Mario Bros., MARIOKART, MARIO PARTY, and all the other classics are still my favorite to this day. And I can’t wait to see Super Nintendo World when it opens at Universal Studios!
For me it all started with the SNES when I was 9. I still remember having to choose between Sega and Nintendo... then had a Game Boy (like everyone else), a N64 and a GC. When the Wii came around I stopped playing console games and focused on the PC. Two weeks ago I finally decided to get a Switch, and even though I was hesitant at first because I'm spoiled by super high framerates / resolutions / quality, I have to say the polish of Nintendo games (and hardware) has always been something else. I kinda regret I missed the 3DS and I might pick up a used one...
@@unused7629 i just bought a second one as back-up. I suspect China will not be producing or cloning the 3D factor anytime soon so unless something new comes out, this is all the handheld 3D we're going to get for a while. And prices are going up.
i didn't thought, Nintendo has gone through alot. from selling products to gaming, i see why it makes Nintendo a little special to the gaming community. despite the ups and downs this company having, they still continue to be creative. things like this, should be featured on to Nintendo, to show the journey this company have.
I agree mate! In fact, I can’t wait to play my Nintendo Wii on my Samsung 6 Series 75 inch TV via my AV to HDMI converter that’s coming in the mail soon.
27:29 I remember playing this game for the first time on my Wii U back in December 2017. I also remember grinding the hell outta it and getting all shrines and almost 1/3 of the korok seeds. Magical times…. 6 years later and here I am today, continuing my fun with BotW and playing TotK for the first time on my Switch. That opening cutscene makes me feel a wide variety of emotions…
A technical curiosity: A nes controller it's a mere generic 4021 chip that converts parallel inputs (the buttons) into a serial output, which makes easy to use them in electronics, the Super NES controller is made with two 4021 for extra buttons :D
Long live Nintendo which revived the gaming industry with gaming ‘s most important console, the NES. Your animation and transitions is amazing and some of the best I’ve seen.
can we just appreciate how much effort Nintendo put into their Nintendo cards? I remember being a young kid in the 1880's, having so much fun playing that card game!
FWIW Famicom is technically an abbreviation since the original product was branded as "Family Computer". And the NES is actually the "Nintendo Entertainment System". Naturally both of those names are a bit cumbersome, so of course people chose to abbreviate them. -- Probably explains why the original system actually had a keyboard, disk drive, and modem as optional accessories, even if they never saw a US release. Also offers some logic for why their was an SNES Mouse.
Game genie was the thing you put on the game an then put the game in your console an you could enter cheat codes out the game genie book for the nes..super ninetendo an some other consoles I thought

I was shocked to know Nintendo was out that many years. 133 years wow 😊
It's awesome to see the evolution my first console was the N64. I was like 5 when I started playing it. My love of gaming grew from there
seeing how successful Nintendo is. its really surprising to find out that the company was founded in the late 1800's, is almost 150 years old, and started out as a small company that makes playing cards.

I kinda regret I missed the 3DS and I might pick up a used one...
better hurry picking up the 3DS, the nice ones in good condition are getting expensive fast
@@LEGOpachinko i own a 3ds that i bought unused, i bought it when it first came out, and i love the thing
@@unused7629 i just bought a second one as back-up. I suspect China will not be producing or cloning the 3D factor anytime soon so unless something new comes out, this is all the handheld 3D we're going to get for a while. And prices are going up.
love how everyone else in this thread is talking ab 3DSs but I asked and got a gameboy advance sp for my birthday lmao
@@okwhat3236 I don't know if that is by choice or because of budget but if by choice; a jail broken 3DS can run GBA games
i didn't thought, Nintendo has gone through alot. from selling products to gaming, i see why it makes Nintendo a little special to the gaming community. despite the ups and downs this company having, they still continue to be creative.
things like this, should be featured on to Nintendo, to show the journey this company have.
Nintendo innovates. I respect them for that. Gaming seems to be their top priority, not just being commercial successes.
Awesome video about Nintendo's history. They have entertained many generations of both children and adults, that's for sure.
Imagine buying an entire console in Canada for the same price as some games
Back then games were not that expensive, But by today’s standard absolutely
I'm 100% sure the wii mini also reached at least Spain, as I know people who still own one.

I remember playing this game for the first time on my Wii U back in December 2017.
A technical curiosity:
A nes controller it's a mere generic 4021 chip that converts parallel inputs (the buttons) into a serial output, which makes easy to use them in electronics, the Super NES controller is made with two 4021 for extra buttons :D
Your youtube channel deserves a million subscribers! Very entertaining video.

Q: What's the difference about Famicom and NES?
A: Same console, Famicom was released in the US as NES.
Yeah, they just have different designs.
Ah yes, my favourite place, nes
FWIW Famicom is technically an abbreviation since the original product was branded as "Family Computer". And the NES is actually the "Nintendo Entertainment System". Naturally both of those names are a bit cumbersome, so of course people chose to abbreviate them. -- Probably explains why the original system actually had a keyboard, disk drive, and modem as optional accessories, even if they never saw a US release. Also offers some logic for why their was an SNES Mouse.
Different shells. In the UK we got the Famicom as the SNES
I think it's great that someone with over 500k subscribers has a few videos online with over millions displayed! it's really crazy!
