Just a note: most of the times “NES” was said in the 1st PlayStation section it means the SNES, or at least it should. Also, the PS2 Slim was released in 2004.
The problem with the ps3 was it’s complex architecture. Having dedicated allocations for functions meant that you could create some truly stunning games (silent hill). But it was incredibly difficult to code for (and emulate). This meant that a lot of games didn’t use the consoles impressive processing capabilities and had a bad reputation from developers who much preferred the simpler options of their rivals
Agree. I wish they'd find a way to crack PS3 backwards compatibility. So many great games stuck on that one console that'd be a blast to play on the PS5. Hopefully they develop something, like a PS5 system update, that will eventually allow this. Here's hoping that by the time the PS6 comes out it'll be fully backwards compatible... or at least PS3 - PS5 backwards compatible.
Playstation history is such a nostalgia trip, I and my brothers went through all of it! For us, the best gaming brand. Watching this video I relived many unforgettable moments, met so many people, made so many friends. Not to mention all this made bonding with my family possible. So much to say. I'm sure many experienced the same with Xbox and Nintendo. Whatever you choose is the best choice!
It depends. From a backwards compatibility standpoint, xbox series x does heavy lifting whereas switch is the least. PS5 has the most upcoming games as people left xbox, which doesn't have a Japanese base for importing (nintendo has a retro appeal in style more than what is on bare bones switch online expansion). 5:52 and 6:30 no ape escape 😢 analog? At least it's on ps5 though they don't tell you that games you can't buy tend to be glitch with screen flickering craziness (okage shadow king and lara croft and the temple of osiris need to be bought through the app, maybe ape escape 2 though all warn when you play about screen tears ie performance issues though they're fine on ps4). From an affordable retro BC view, PS3 does best, and 3ds or GBA are a close second. It does help not to buy into hype and pay full price for every flawed $70 game that is called a "masterpiece". I also like finding a silver lining in some tedious games, and it's a nice community to get information on games over hearing people reiterate what is the best. Could be a general guide (I've done a lot), history as this vid does, or speedrun/boss rush. Maybe even capturing basic footage for something obscure can help too. 12:37 crazy how ps5 made Adaptive triggers seem like it was such a big thing. No wonder I felt that and haptics even with microphone off to feel mode, didn't feel much different.
I still remember when this channel had about 29K subs and I was wondering why since it was so underrated. Super glad to see that the channel is still thriving and I wish a Merry Christmas to everyone 🎄❄❤💚❤
I really enjoyed this. The PS3 and the PS5 are my gaming console favs. Still, I didn't know much about Sony or the past PlayStation models and spin-offs. I really liked learning!!
The original PlayStation still means the most to me. I remember it came out in 1995 & it was such an upgrade over systems like Nintendo or Sega Genesis. So iconic…
Oh sure better psone upgrade than the crap ps1 mini or psp no err go. A shame the ps5 milks syphon filter and overpriced the $15 jak games (on ps plus extra which I feel lacks longevity given shredder's revenge is so old but has usagi yojimbo/karai upcoming paid dlc with free colors) that ps3 has for $10 for the trilogy (that people say played better) minus combat racing. Even with load times, ps1 had remakes for the final fantasy games (except 3, with ff2 and ff5 being new to the US) and chrono trigger. Legend of legacy, parasite eve for having action while waiting for ATB/turn bar (2 is kinda a resident evil clone) and ape escape are fun. A lot of stuff may be dated like front mission 3 or fft/final fantasy games before later remasters, but it does have manuals on ps3 digital versions. I feel arc the lad 3 aged pretty well if you need strategy lite as you keep experience even if you lose, and it's pretty fast for movement.
1:38 I remember the intro sound would scare me sometimes because the TV a friend of mine had when the PS1 came out was super big and the sound was great quality.
Man this brings back so many memories to me especially when you had to leave the first Gen PS on throughout the week until you got yourself a memory chip. And playing GTA 2 was a classic to me...those days will forever be seared into the core of my mind.
I remember getting a Sega Saturn for my birthday the year that the PlayStation came out and it turned out to be defective so we returned it and got a PlayStation instead. Best mishap that ever happened when I was a kid, my dad and I used to spend hours playing Tomb Raider over and over, ah the nostalgia 🥲
Just got my PS5 the other day; what an amazing machine. Now I have each main Sony console from 1 to 5, and they have not disappointed! Great video, I love learning the history of gaming, especially with my favorite consoles :)
I have all of them except the 3. I was a generation behind as I grew up. I'm pretty sure the PS2 was out when I got a PS1. I didn't get a PS2 until 2012. I finally caught up with the current generation in 2014 when I bought a used PS4. I just got a PS5 two weeks ago. I completely skipped PS3 and still have no interest.
@@sgtwhiskersstrikesagain9679 the PS3 for me is my weakest Sony console, admittedly. I got mine fairly late in the generation ( got the slim ), so I don't have a whole lot of time with it. However, the games I do have for it are some of my faves! So yeah, the PS3 has its ups and downs for me, too.

These consoles have been a part of my life for so long, it's unreal how crazy these systems have evolved and changed over the years, and I'm happy to be a part of it
12:54 The PS2 slim did not release in 2014 it released in 2004. This is why fact-checking is vital because in the next sentence they say the PS2 was further trimmed down throughout the years but why would Sony release a slim version of a console 14 years later. Just doesn’t make any sense lol.

I got the PS3 Super Slim and it's the most iconic part is the putting in plate from gta IV , cause when gta IV was fake it wouldn't load , but on other PS3's it would load and automatically turn off.
Out of all those consoles, it's hard to say which one was the most dear to me. Probably PS2 as it hit my childhood sweet spot perfectly. We also had the slim version of it. So many precious memories. Probably my least favorite was the PS3. PS4 was a great success and I even streamed a bit with it. And now I finally have the PS5, which I have barely even tested yet as I just got it. But from what I could tell from the first few minutes of testing out God of War Ragnarök, the graphical capabilities are off the charts! Absolutely stunning game with high frame rate to boot. And an absolute truck load of settings to mess with! Although my unit has some strange fan noise which is a bit annoying. Might have to get that checked at some point if it doesn't disappear. Sounds like the fan isn't quite balanced or something. All that said, I'm by no means a PlayStation fan boy. I was also a heavy consumer of Nintendo products. All the handheld consoles, Wii U, Switch... And of course I was also a hardcore PC gamer by birth as got my first DOS PC before I even started 1st grade. I also had PSP at one point. The only brand I never owned was the Xbox. I simply wasn't fan of the games and franchises they offered.
@@micklucas1451 you know general things. A few times I had problems with games when I contacted ps support they said contact the developers. I got no reply when I rang back sorry can't help you they said. They couldn't even refund me. I had difficulty with another game and waited on the line for ages and then when someone eventually came on line he blew a raspberry and hung up.
Love the use of classic game soundtracks. The nostalgia kicked in hard at 13:30 when the Medal of Honour theme started playing. Man I miss playing those games.
My wife and I actually own 2 PS5's disc version. The first one, we found on Craigslist surprisingly enough. The second I got directly from the PlayStation store. I had signed up to be notified when they had some available. They were allowing people 10 minutes on the store, and I managed to get the one that has Horizon Forbidden West included. It was a bit pricier than the one without the game, but I didn't care then and I don't care now. Personally I spend the majority of my gaming time playing RDR2. It has become my all time favorite game. And I'm a classic gamer almost exclusively. And it's none of that flashback shit that makes me want to puke. It's the real deal. We also own the Xbox Series S, and the Xbox Series X,
Fun fact: during the PS5's launch week in the UK, several London Underground stations replaced the traditional red circle with either a green triangle, purple square or blue Cross to promote the release of Sony's latest console
Being the first video I watched from this channel, I'm not sure how much I'll believe the numbers on here when nobody caught the mix up between 2004 and 2014 dates for ps2 slim.
Not to mention the initial PS3 models were 20 and 40 GB respectively, then the 60 came out later as the standalone version for awhile, then 80 fat ps3 was top version in a bundle with mgs4 Edit it was the 20 and 60 at launch my bad but they did have a 40 available too so there was a lot of confusion back then
I didn't realized it when I was watching it, but my son, right away said, that's wrong, it came out in 2004, I had to rewind the video, and I was shocked to see actually typed in "2014" completely wrong.
I'm a PlayStation fan since its beginning. I'm 39 years old. I have bought almost every PlayStation console (except PS5). The truth is that the one that I have enjoyed most of all is the PS3. Both the console and its titles. I don't know if it's because I'm getting older and I cannot come along the newer generation of gaming but it is what it is.
The original dual shock for ps1 wasn't concave sticks. I had the "analog" stick controller. It had concave sticks and wider handles. It was only out for like a year before the first dual shock came out. I always perfered the original because the wider handles felt better in my hands
I’ve been blessed to be able to have been owned every PlayStation to date , I have memories with every console. Looking forward to the memories me and my PS5 will have in upcoming years..
I not from the era of PS1 but i have the PS2 , PS3 , PS4 and now the PS5. And sony playstation never dissapoint since the PS2 , not once and now with the PS5 who knows what is gonna come next
My parents bought my brother and I the original Playstation in 1998. I've been loyal to them ever since. It's pretty remarkable that I've been alive to see Sony and the PlayStation take over the gaming world. 5 consoles released - 3 of them have topped over 100 million units sold, and if it weren't for being $100 too expensive, the PS3 would've also done it, and so would've the 5 had it not been for COVID and crypto mining taking all the chips around the world. Favorite? Easy - they're ALL my favorite. I'm fairly sure that I'll always be loyal to them to my dying day. I can't wait to tell my kids about the glory days of this revolutionary piece of machinery that changed the world.
Back way when the PS4 was a gaming beast, I remember our parents upgrading to it after playing Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3. It was just last Christmas we got a PS5, and now Gran Turismo 7 is one of my favourite games! We love to play split screen driving cars around awesome tracks. This is an amazing animation and your work never fails to surprise me.
Cool Video! I Have PS3 And These Are The Games i play the most: Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition Ridge Racer 7 Diablo 3:Reaper of Souls Injustice:Gods Among us Yeah I have much more games but i just showed games i play most
Thank you 😊 I just got my ps5 a few hours ago and last one I had was a PSP. Excited to now play some ps4 and ps5 games for years to come. My first one was the first Playstation in 1998 and played it even when ps2 was out I eventually got that back in 04.
The PS1 shouldn’t of exited to begin with Sony should of waited like Microsoft release their first console in 2001 then the PS1 wouldn’t of failed on any games we had Sega and Nintendo with better graphics better performance the PlayStation in 1994 all the PS1 did was ruined the best games took all the games as they did to xbox Nintendo 64 Sega Saturn should of gotten all the games so gamers can play the games at their best as possible im just glad Sony stopped messing around and made their next consoles improve that Nintendo isn’t doing since Sega stopped making consoles that’s to why I no longer play on Nintendo a lot I used to Nintendo one time defeated PlayStation on the PS1 but with Sega not being here there will be no powerful Nintendo console ever again

I learned so much watching this entire evolution video. I think what should really be taken away from watching the history of consoles is how beneficial competition is for us as the consumers. The fact that Nintendo and Xbox exists is the primary reason WHY we have these high-end consoles with amazing graphics
Love how til this day, there are still many loyal and new fans of the psp and ps vita. Always dreamed of having my own psp when I was young. I recently got a psp 2000 and modded it, and I’m so happy with it. too bad that Sony neglected both handhelds, they were both beyond its time.

12:56 sony released the ps2 slim in 2004 instead of 2014 you can google it because in 2008 my brother already bought the ps2 slim and we grew up with it until something tragic happened and I bought the ps2 back in 2021
That's amazing. I remember that happen last year ago on 2021. My 2 brother want a PS5 Digital Edition so later on 2 ps5 got in because we order it. 1 for my 1st brother victor and 1 for my 2nd brother jahir so they can play each other online. I understand it very difficult to get during covid and global chip shortage. Plus I really love all your video and I watch them all of evolution of Console, video game and more. Keep up the amazing work of evolution.
8,000 to Games for the original Playstation, 4,400 Games for the PlayStation 2, 2,500 Games for the PlayStation 3, 3,200 Games for the PlayStation 4, And about 600 Games so far for the PlayStation 5.
Man, I got a PlayStation in 1997 and that was just in time for some really killer games that sealed my fate as a PS gamer. Final Fantasy 7 was the first game I ever played that made me feel. Silent Hill became my favorite horror game of all time followed by “The Suffering”. “The Last of Us” tied “Fable 2” as my favorite game ever.

they got the year wrong for the ps2 slim, by a decade. voice is annoying, and the videos are unwatchable without 2x speed
You should do an evolution of flatlife
That's a pretty good idea
I loved the PlayStation since the 90s. And I've been a PlayStation guy ever since. Awesome evolution video. Also, I've Subscribed to you just now.
Same here I couldn't live without it but I have had terrible customer service experience. Never ever did I win them over when I had an issue
@@jakcarn4184 what issue
@@micklucas1451 you know general things. A few times I had problems with games when I contacted ps support they said contact the developers. I got no reply when I rang back sorry can't help you they said. They couldn't even refund me. I had difficulty with another game and waited on the line for ages and then when someone eventually came on line he blew a raspberry and hung up.
Im a Sony enjoyer just because of Little Big Planet
Amazing work like always!
I love your work and your animation!
Love the use of classic game soundtracks. The nostalgia kicked in hard at 13:30 when the Medal of Honour theme started playing. Man I miss playing those games.
Thank you for remaking the evolution of the PS!
The startup of PSP reminded me of the days when I used to play games on PSP under the quilt in winter 😢😢😢
Not to mention the initial PS3 models were 20 and 40 GB respectively, then the 60 came out later as the standalone version for awhile, then 80 fat ps3 was top version in a bundle with mgs4
Edit it was the 20 and 60 at launch my bad but they did have a 40 available too so there was a lot of confusion back then
I didn't realized it when I was watching it, but my son, right away said, that's wrong, it came out in 2004, I had to rewind the video, and I was shocked to see actually typed in "2014" completely wrong.
FlatLife never disappoint us🐐
Happy Christmas Eve🎄

@Djungelskog Monkey time zones?
I miss playstation 1. 😢 The game Kagero Deception is my favorite. Brings back childhood memories.
I really liked mine too.
You are the best underrated channel i've ever seen, hope you keep up the good work and wish you a Merry Christmas!
Thanks, you too!
@@Flatlife someone is using your name to scam others, that they are giving away PS 5s , so send them money to ship it to you.
1:36 I mean this is the chilliest sound you can hear... the memories
Ah yes, PS2 Slim released in 2014!
2004*
@@THINTHEORY r/ wooooooooosh
I had to look that up 🤣🤣
The PS2 is slimmer than the PS4
I got my ps5 and I personally love it, can’t wait to buy the exclusives and other games to enjoy
This is awesomeness in one of its many forms!
Xbox pushed me off the deep end and I’ve been watching PlayStation videos nonstop for 3 days straight
Same
I not from the era of PS1 but i have the PS2 , PS3 , PS4 and now the PS5. And sony playstation never dissapoint since the PS2 , not once and now with the PS5 who knows what is gonna come next
I owned all the Playstations except PS4 i has the Xbox one and Xbox one S but my cuz had the ps4 it was just a bit dissapointing tbh...
At 40:35 the charact who walks in sounds a lot like Viktor Reznov from call of duty World at war and black ops 1 when he says "hello my friend "
I miss the days when I had a psp go and used to play gta Chinatown wars all the time as a kid
I own a PSVita, PS3 and PS4. And my favorite game is LittleBigPlanet 2.
I love how the ps2 slim(2014) is newer than the ps4(2013)
Yeah
Not more successful than Nintendo
The ps3 slim was a good console. We had one that lasted 10 years, even when it was always played on
You're not flatlife it's probably a scam
Your profile picture doesn't even match his. Besides he's not doing a giveaway. I don't think he ever has
I remember owning a red PSP as a kid which was also my first PlayStation, the memories hit hard
12:56 2004 not 2014 🤦♂️
Back way when the PS4 was a gaming beast, I remember our parents upgrading to it after playing Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3. It was just last Christmas we got a PS5, and now Gran Turismo 7 is one of my favourite games! We love to play split screen driving cars around awesome tracks.
This is an amazing animation and your work never fails to surprise me.
But in this time PS5 Slim was released.
PSP was so cool in high school and middle school, always had it at lunch
What if you did a video on the evolution of Pagani cars?
that would be cool
12:50 Damn, I know it must've been hard to slim down the PS2, but I didn't know it took them 14 years!
Update: Playstation Portal
Cool Video! I Have PS3 And These Are The Games i play the most:
Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition
Ridge Racer 7
Diablo 3:Reaper of Souls
Injustice:Gods Among us
Yeah I have much more games but i just showed games i play most

Thank you 😊 I just got my ps5 a few hours ago and last one I had was a PSP. Excited to now play some ps4 and ps5 games for years to come. My first one was the first Playstation in 1998 and played it even when ps2 was out I eventually got that back in 04.

Ayooooooo Im your fan Flatlife!
Telegram is back baby 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Telegram UA-cam account is only 10 hours less then 10 months what a joke it’s time to change his diaper cause it’s full he’s a new born baby

You forget that despite the Saturn's sucess in Japan it was still quite hard to program for leading to many not using it at least in the west
5:07 its the other way round.
11:04 SING WITH ME!!!!! meme
22:50 **minecraft steps in** Minecraft: ima beat u gta 5. gta 5: nope. Minecraft: **by 2011 becomes the best selling video game of all time** gta 5: HOOWWW!?
I love how you included the music of my favorite games of all times... FFX !😁
This is awesomeness !
I always been a Nintendo Fan boy even at the age of 5 (97) but ps1 intro always gave me chills 1:31
Been loving my OG ps5. Shes a beauty and a literal BEAST at games. Great and informative video! Learned a lot from this video about the history of PlayStation. Love the animations!
12:56 sony released the ps2 slim in 2004 instead of 2014 you can google it because in 2008 my brother already bought the ps2 slim and we grew up with it until something tragic happened and I bought the ps2 back in 2021
Just a little mistake i noticed, at 12:57 you said ps2 slim was released in 2014, when actually it was released in 2004, great video tho!

23:08 that control hurts my E Y E S. Like seriously, if I was a critic, that control wouldn't pass the inspection.
I use to have a Playstation PSP device when i was younger but its battery gave away. Omg it was so long ago.
I usually play my PlayStation 4 games on the PlayStation 5.
You forgot 2 PlayStations version:
1 - Playstation 5 pro (2024 october)
2 - PlayStation 6 (2028)
I’m a massive fan!
They actually made a error 12:54. It is supposed to be 2004 not 2014, but it is a easy to make.
just today pre ordered my ps5 FINALLY can't wait
