This is the best video of this type I’ve seen-four things needed-a pot, paint, sealer, and dirt-and one of those I don’t even have to pay for!! I’m subscribing.
My thoughts too! I always look to see what products the description says are needed before I even watch it. Defeats the purpose of diy if I have to spend a bunch of money on top of my time to recreate a look.
I loved your transformation. Everyone I have watched on IG use mud and you really got the textured look that everyone seems to be after. And your vessel the shape is beautiful for this. I would love to see you do this in a cream and a color so we can see how it would work for different people's taste. Beautiful job
Thank you Julie! I debated between the cream and a black color but decided on black! I love the shape too, these pots were such a great deal at Home Depot!
Thank you. I recently salvaged a large plastic urn. It was half full with spray insulation foam so apparently once held an artificial plant. It already has a faux stone finish in a light mottled grey. I want to enhance that effect. I won't be able to use the local dirt because it is too organic. Maybe I can find some sand. I love your technique. I especially love your choice of olive branches. Those look perfect with your pot.
Seriously the best tutorial like this out there. It’s achieves a look that doesn’t seem DIY. Love the black, I’m going to try this on a white vase and see what happens!!
I am so lucky I found you!!! I was so frustrated after checking the prices of the large terracotta pots I wanted in the internet. Then I explored painti g the planter but the options were expensive and not very attractive. I am heading to Home Depot for my pot and my spray paint. Thank you!!!!
Ah, yes! I've had people tell me the dirt they use isn't as easy to work with or doesn't look the same! I guess it's going to depend on where you're at, but I have seen people talk about (in the comments) work arounds that are just as good!
Restoration hardware is a store that been around for years , just like pottery barn, crate and barrel, I am happy to see all the influencers talk about it
I’ve been looking for an affordable pot in that shape and size and only found your video because I was looking for a DIY to antique my terracotta pots a little. Win-Win. 😊😊
Ohhh...that's a lot more work than what I do with plastic containers to achieve a similar effect. I paint them all over with caulk, pat on some sand, then lightly spray paint first a light color, then highlights of a darker color. These look nice and heavy!
Gotta try love a rustic and cool pot/vessel plus I'll feel good that i pulled one over on RH whom i love yet can b pricey at times, so thx again Valerie you're a gift 💝
Yes! I LOVE Restoration Hardware, but some of their pieces can be pricey! And it's always fun to tackle a new project and get the same look for less, right? 😍
I’m in the process of doing this now. Lol. It’s so fun. I got the same pot from Home Depot. Much bigger than it looked in your video. I ordered olive branches also. Can’t wait to finish and put together. Thanks so much for this.
I totally came across your video on accident, I love that you are making videos you have always been so talented! Definitely going to try out this technique!
Aw! Thank you, your so sweet Brittnee! I've been loving the youtube community so much! It's a great creative outlet for sure! Let me know how it turns out! :)
@ValerieAguiar I love the pot that you made! I was wondering if you think this can be placed outside? will it withstand rain and sun or should I be sealing it with something special for outdoor use?
If the vessel is the same as mine but larger I know exactly what your talking about! My HD was all out of the larger size!! 😩😩 I need to see if they’ve restocked! Have fun! 😉
My piece was smooth like porcelain so I started with a mud rub over the black to build up some heavy texture. Then I lightly sprayed with black again (could’ve done clear) and then went in with the dry dirt method after that.
Thankyou for sharing that video It's great can I ask you about the clear spray used for these 9 layers is it transparent ?is that dirt used cement? Thank you so much
@@leticiavallejo7914 Thanks. I called them and they said they won’t be bringing them back. Online it’s 19.95. I didn’t care if it was $50. I would have stilled ordered it, but no luck. Lowe’s has it too, but they will deliver it for $59. I guess I will drive to Lowe’s😀
Love you technique and thank you so much for sharing... could this be done with a mixed/composite container that wasn't pottery? On a slick Ceramic container like this do I need to use a bonding agent for the paint to stick to it or would it be alright to do what you show here?
Love it!!! But the vase has also a beautifull style.....i would like to know, on 7:36 you see ob the left of the commode this iron ball?? Can you tell me what is it named when i try to find one... i mean iron ball is not the right name... thanks 🍄🌺🌹🌸🌷🍄
Yes, it goes by pretty fast. The spray paint dries pretty fast (in warmer weather) Mine was probably a 3 hour project (mostly waiting time in between all of the coats)
I have some really old tall blue water containers that I might do this or your hypertufa to them. They are plastic so will be priming them first. Hope it works.
You're right to do this on a hard surface. I think if it was done on plastic it might not last long term, so why waste the time. They look really nice.
Love love love this amazing technique and great step by step description in your video!!! I just checked both my nearest Home Depot stores in two cities are out of these pots 😞 No wonder why though!

Ciao. Mi piace molto il tuo canale,mi hai dato molte idee!! Su un tavolo da pranzo antico di legno mogano, che vaso mi consigli e che fiori.Grazie mille sei fantastica .

I have watched several videos where someone has tried this technique. Your pot came out fabulous. It was the best one I have seen. ❤😊

Thank you for the inspiration! I flipped a $5 Ikea pot that turned out amazing. To bad I can’t show it to you. Thanks again, ❤️your work! 🌺😎
As a retired ceramicist I thought, "that's a LOT of work". The end result is worth it! Thank you!!
Hi Terry! You are right... the end result is definitely worth the work!
Quick tip for those looking for good dirt find a public park where they play
baseball and use that dirt
Great idea! 😀
You can get ticket for stealing city property.

Wow! Can it get any simpler than this?. Love it!
Love the technique! I was wondering if I can do it for outdoor pots?
A few coats of the clear coat it should hold up for outside! I've seen some other's try this DIY for their outdoors and they've had great success! :)
I have the same terra-cotta pot. I can’t wait to try this.
