I’ve done this same technique only instead of a ceramic pot I used a bucked like the one you’re mixing in. I just cut a thing around the top so that it didn’t have rim and looked the exact same shape at the pit used here. It came out looking very similar a cost far less. I do however appreciate the moss tip and will try to use it next time I make one. Great video!:-)
Excellent project. I have done this with stone sinks to make rustic troughs. If you can't get moss, you can mix the finishing mortar with animal or plant milk and the organic mix will find moss and lichens naturally over one year.
I am so glad that I found you!! I have a DIY hypertufa project saved from years ago and I was pretty intimidated by it until just now! You made it seem easier than the written instructions i have without a video. Thanks for sharing your awesome work! Cannot wait to do this now!!!!
Thank you Bonnie! I am in need of a live olive but am so afraid I'll kill it! 😩 Maybe this spring or summer I'll get some courage to get myself a live olive in the living room! 😉
Hi Stephanie! I have actually tried the mortar on a plastic pot, it does work. However, if the thickness at the top of the pot isn't on the thicker side it tends to still have a flimsy type look. I like the look of a real thick sturdy pot so it's all the look you'd like but I prefer a pot that has some thickness at the top (if that makes sense!)
@@ValerieAguiar Agree Valerie, but you can definitely find thicker rimmed pots for under $10 at a GoodWill or Craigslist. Nonetheless, your work is beautiful and love your channel. :)
Gosh- I JUST saw a pot like your finished product and it retailed for $200. I now know how to make it for 1/4 of the price! Wow!!! Thank you! Gorgeous!!!
thankyou, it's amazing, but I thing we can try it on a plastic planter and can save more. . This is what I think. I am not sure whether it would come out as your DIY but we can try
Of course, you can! :) Whatever works best for you. I find the look is a little different on plastic planters because many of them don't have the thickness of a ceramic or other heavier type material. But you may love it. Thanks for watching!
I just fond this while researching how to cover a plastic planter with cement! I need a big one but they are so expensive and I can not transport nor handle one anyway. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful DIY. I LOVE IT. I hope it will work on the big plastic pot I have. :-)
Hi Barbara! They are really expensive, which is why I decided to figure out a way to get the look for less! And you're so welcome... I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I can't wait to hear how your DIY goes!
Looks beautiful! We had went camping recently and I grabbed some moss while we were out, originally going to use to put moss on the two big rocks I got from the same area last year, but I might use it to do this to one of my planters like yours. Mine is a bit smaller so I may have enough for both Thank you
I've seen a number of your videos and love them all! :) I am a bit confused now between using mortar, plaster and quick-set cement mix. Can you provide some insight? I'd appreciate it :) Thank you :)
Love this! When using the pot outdoors, will weather fluctuations cause the mortar to crack or breakaway from the original smooth surface of the planter?
Mine has always been inside, but I am honestly not too sure! I can see how big weather variations could cause that, but I've never experienced it personally!
Aw, thank you! I know how you feel! I went back to get a second one and they were all out of stock at my store! 😩 I have to wait until they restock to do another!
This looks so beautiful, will try this right away. Just found your channel :)) thank u.i don't know which mortar mix to buy as I'm in Germany and I don't know if it's because of this I can't open the mortar link above. Thank u so much for help :)) and your inspiration :)
I did this with a very Ugly vase the colours where not nice i got it from charity shop. Had some tile grout which was black in colour. And just but it on the vase and it turned out great . So got some more vases and did the same and painted them in different colours and put a spray finish on them .
Been wanting a stone, aged pot .. saw this and fell in love! I tried this on some plastic planters I had lying around and loved the outcome. I used a white mortar that I had and was ecstatic as it fits my decor better versus the gray. Will most likely be trying this soon, exactly as you did, it’s beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing! Will the clear sealer change the color or over all look any? Afraid to seal it 😁
It worked on your plastic planters? Oh wow! I will try it! I'm scared to mess up a hundred dollar porcelain planter 😅 I will try with a cheap plastic one! Thank you for posting this!
I have those little felt feet that stick on. I just haven't put them on. If I have to move it, I just have my husband help me pick it up! The good thing about it being so heavy is it hardly gets moved! 😄
I live what you did! But I'm thinking of trying something else to try. I want to do a paint wash on the outside of my planter, and while the paint is wet sprinkle sand lightly in some areas for texture. Do you think this could work?

But you used cheap plastic ceramic is way better

Wow, that's perfection. I've been searching the Internet on how to do an aged planter and this was it thank you so much for these amazing ideas❤❤❤
I knew I wouldn't be the only one who thought of doing this ; it looks great
Thanks Bev! 😊
Wow! Thank you so much I have all the stuff to do this and have been hesitating. Now your video gave me the courage and direction.
Hi Dana! That's so awesome to hear... go for it and let me know how it goes! 💕
The planter looks great very antique looking - you’re so creative!!
Love how you break it down step by step thanks for sharing
💕
You are the sweetest Mary! I appreciate your great feedback! 💕
Magnificent, elegant and rustic
Thanks Iamis! 😊
What a great process to age a regular pot!! Looks so good with your olive tree!! ❤️
Thank you Bonnie! I am in need of a live olive but am so afraid I'll kill it! 😩 Maybe this spring or summer I'll get some courage to get myself a live olive in the living room! 😉
Love you Olive tree, and this planter is awesome. Thanks.
You are so welcome!
Love this. Do you think I can get the same results with a plastic pot and drywall mud?
I was thinking the same
Hi Stephanie!
Love this! But, go to Craigslisgt or Marketplace and get a pot for MUCH cheaper than $44.
@@ValerieAguiar Agree Valerie, but you can definitely find thicker rimmed pots for under $10 at a GoodWill or Craigslist. Nonetheless, your work is beautiful and love your channel. :)
Love the pot ! Off the topic- what colors are your walls ?
That was simply amazing...I cant wait to try it. Great tutorial, THANK YOU!
Thank YOU Joanna! Let me know how it turns out! 💕

Aren’t they pretty?? That natural stone look is 😍😍😍!! Thanks for watching ☺️
thankyou, it's amazing, but I thing we can try it on a plastic planter and can save more. . This is what I think. I am not sure whether it would come out as your DIY but we can try

Love this!! Please make more pot finishes. 👏🏻
Definitely will be doing more similar DIY's, they are one of my favorites! 😉
Best DIY faux stone video I've seen in the last hour and a half. Thanks for sharing. Nicely done video, too.
Thank you so much! 💕
I LOVE this planter. I may have to try it.
So creative..it turned out amazing...maybe we can use a big plastic container too? it will bring the cost down lower...Thank you so much!
Hi Irene! Yes, you could do that too! 😊
Did you keep the planter outside? It’s good with rain and whatnot? Just like regular cement?
As a safeguard put some felt on the bottom of your pot to protect your floors 🥰
Great idea!! Thank you! 💕
Super easy to understand
Beautiful result
Thank you.
Thanks!!
Been looking for this exact tutorial! Thx so much! 🙏🏻😘
Stunning and easy to follow instructions. Thank you very much.
You're welcome Susanne!! :)
Thank you darling! I done that’s! My pot looks little different, but very nice, luxury and style amazing 🙏✨
That's so awesome to hear! Congrats on taking the jump and doing the project! I bet it looks amazing! 😊

I really like that, it looks like stone!! I wonder if the mortar would stick to plastic as well!! Thanks for sharing!
It should work fine!!
You are actually A GENIUS, Valerie!! xx
LOL... this made me smile! Thanks so much for the sweet comment Gracie! 💕
Amazing diy! Now I have another pot diy to do. I really love the addition of the ground moss.
Add them to the list, haha! 😂

Hi Gwen!! :) If you've got the pot, then you already half way there!! Let me know how it goes! 💕
Why exactly did you use two colors of concrete? Just curious if that did something that I’m missing. Love it.👍🏼👍🏼🥰
I'm in love w this channel 👍 so cool looks totally organic 👏 kudos to you Valerie 💪🏻 girl power 💝
Aw, thanks!! I love the organic, natural stone feel as well! One of my favorite pieces! 😊

Omg, that's breathtaking ❤❤❤
This turned out so well, I will be recreating!

Gonna try this on my washing machine tub planter.
Sounds awesome!!😊 Have fun Joan!
It does help. Porland cement cures between 15-45oC.
Thanks for the info! 💕
Fantastic.. I’m going to try it
Amazing work!!!!
I don’t know why but u just found you. Love all your project!! Is this pot can stay outside??

Beautiful. I'm wanting to use this with real plants. Will the finish hold up?
Great idea! I might do it this spring!!

Ale- it doesn't have to be the mortar she showed. ANY mortar that is used for tile will work. Germany will have their own :)
So beautiful!
Thank you!!!
Great Tips!
Glad it was helpful!
This is really very interesting! Looks like fun. Was this your first try or did you do it before?
Hi Rozalle! This was my first try, but I have done similar DIY's before! 💕
Loved this
I am going to try it on my black urns I think it will be great What color moss did you use.
Hi Liz! I'm sorry, I totally can't remember the name of it. I'll see if I can look it up and reply back :)
FANTASTIC!!!!

I love your idea thank you very much.

I’m wondering if you could use same idea on the Home Depot orange pail? Much cheaper and not as heavy?
Hi Catherine! That's not a bad idea to try. If you try it, let me know how it goes!
@Justus Diego do you just go around spamming different videos.?? This the 3rd video where I've seen your stupid comment. Get a life.
Do you think this would work as an outdoor planter too?
Thought the same. Way cheaper!
I think it would work better on something less flexible. Would love to know if you do try it how it holds up.
Stunning!!!
Thanks!!
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Beautiful! It works on plastic pots?
You did a fantastic job 👏🏽. I love ❤️ it!!
Turned out beautifully 👏🏼👍🏼 TFS!
