I have watched tons of this kind of process but this is the best one with great results! I love how you explained every step of the process! The best was you telling people to wear a mask! I have been doing art, pottery, building furniture for year without a mask and it truly did damage to my lungs! Keep up you beautiful projects the shape of this vase is phenomenal ❤️
I admire how neat you are. I have watched a lot of people just slap the compound on vertically or in no direction which is not how pottery is made on a wheel. Also the way you paint with a brush horizontally then use sponges and paper towel. I'm not a big DIYer but these things simply make sense to me. Some of the others videos send my OCD into overdrive lol. Beautiful outcome with the flowers👌
Note if you find a good translucent vase, consider using it as an accent light. Toss some fairy lights inside the vase and you're done. That's not to say I don't admire the result Miss Youngren achieved here. The only thing I'd like to add is that you could review some photos of ancient pottery between your thrifting expeditions. That can help you hunt down a similar shape for a more authentic ancient look.
I am totally loving the finished product...it looks so beautiful. I have a big vase similar to the one in this video so I am definitely putting this project on my diy to do list....thanks for the inspiration 😀
beautiful job! most DIYs like this suggest using a primer or dry wall tape so the compound adhears better, have you had any issues with it sticking to the glass?
Everything looks great. It seems like the wall texture spray -on did not work out. So, did you just smooth it with your fingers? You can use concrete overlay mix or wall spackle to spread around and then add texture. Well done.
Can’t wait to try this! Love the way you explain the process. You’re great to watch & audio is perfect. Happy I found your channel. Keep up the content!!!
Love love this!!!! These are my most favorite projects to do! I loveeee using spackle to create alot of pottery barn dupes! Thx for sharing I'm a new sunscriber❤
No this is a different technique than adding baking soda to paint. The joint compound is already thick and provides the texture. The paint is just for color!
Joint compound is water soluble and therefore not outdoor safe! It needs to be sealed properly. You could try using weatherproof paints vs craft paint and see if that does the trick. But again, joint compound alone will not withstand weather.
Thank you! The pillow covers are old from Etsy. Very scratchy and not comfortable at all tbh! But they look nice and have ended up on the bench we never sit at :) lol
nice, but by the time you pay for all the material, and the time it takes to do this , you can buy a vase for the same price, that looks the same at Home Sense...just saying
It's the sense of accomplishment where we're are able to duplicate the same look and finish as the expensive vessels. The products that are purchased are enough to do at least 3 more vases/vessels. It's a diy thing that not everyone appreciates or understands.
I don't agree, Jeff. When one tackles a project of this kind, one can choose the exact size of the piece, the overall shape, the color and its depth, the perfect degree of texture...plus the satisfaction of saying, "I made it", that's simply priceless. In addition, a lot of materials are likely left over and one can make several other such vessels to keep, gift, or even sell. The savings over buying a similar piece at Home Sense are quite significant!
The best aged vessel I have seen on UA-cam. Great work!
Wow thanks!!
Wow I’ve seen a lot of the aged vessel dupes, this looks amazing! Will try this method.
Thanks! It still looks great and has held up beautifully ❤️
You did an amazing job. It's unbelievable that you started with a glass vase/vessel and ended up with something that looks like an aged clay vessel.
Thank you! I still love the results and it’s holding up great

Aw thank you!
Gorgeous. You found a perfectly shaped vase for the project
That is a really great point. The shape is so important to pulling off the look. So thank you!
This is by far the best one of these I have seen.
The BEST!!!!!! DIY if this style!!! Very neat and put together….. simple yet high end
Finally! Been wanting to do this so I looked at lots of other websites, and the technique you use makes your dupe the best I've ever seen. Thank you!
Nice! Good luck with yours, I’m sure it will turn out great 😊

You did a beautiful job. Like what others have said, it's by far the nicest results I've seen doing this method. 👍
It feels good to see the polite work
I used your technique and love my new distressed planter. Thanks!!!
That’s great! Happy to hear it.
Yes. I’m using this technique for my vessel, rather than the mud technique.
This is an interesting take on ageing a vessel. Thank you for sharing. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🥰

Sencillamente espectacular 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏

No it’s held up great and it’s been a few years now. I sealed it with paint and a spray so that has kept it in good shape.
Gonna give this a go. Great job, thanks
It came out amazing! I will have ro try this.
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
TYSM for making this video 🎉🎉❤
Ywsm!
I loved this project trying it out for myself. 💖
What a cool technique! Great job.
Everything looks great. It seems like the wall texture spray -on did not work out. So, did you just smooth it with your fingers? You can use concrete overlay mix or wall spackle to spread around and then add texture. Well done.
It is probably the nicest one I’ve seen so far and I’ve watched a lot on doing this. Good job!! 👍☺️
Wow thank you!
Very nice! You did a wonderful job on this.

Fabulous.

I really enjoyed this video 😊
so good. Thank you
Very nice. I would not have known it was a DUPE when I first saw it.
The best compliment I could get. Thank you!
Really pretty result😊
It turned out fantastic! I’m a new subscriber from Australia and love this type of content so looking forward to watching more of your videos
Aw hi! Thank you so much ☺️
IT is lovely. But you dont use baking Soda ?
No this is a different technique than adding baking soda to paint. The joint compound is already thick and provides the texture. The paint is just for color!
If you want a better price on your sponges...go to the bath section... you'll get a bigger sponge for less! Good job!
Great idea, thanks!
Can you also recommend this joint compound for outdoors? I would appreciate a reply!
Joint compound is water soluble and therefore not outdoor safe! It needs to be sealed properly. You could try using weatherproof paints vs craft paint and see if that does the trick. But again, joint compound alone will not withstand weather.
I. Love this kind 👍🌷
Can’t wait to try this! You make it look so easy! 😊
Haha thanks, it’s an easy project! Just takes some time with all the different steps so trust the process 🤍 tag me when you do yours!
Beautiful
Thank you!
It came out so nice
Thank you!
Looks awesome !
Thank you!
It is beautiful 😍!!
Beautiful! Where did you get the greens that are in it?
Trader Joe’s!
Came out beautiful 😍
Thanks, Chantel!
Nice work 💕💕💕💕
Thank you! 🤍
Great job⚱️
If you were selling this how would you advertise it?
Probably the same way as the title
You could of used chaulk paint! Same look
I just love the texture joint compound gives!
Beautiful outcome 🤍 I will try this method. By the way where are your pillows on your table in the background from?
Thank you! The pillow covers are old from Etsy. Very scratchy and not comfortable at all tbh! But they look nice and have ended up on the bench we never sit at :) lol
Amazing I loved 🫶🏻
Get yourself a lazy Susan to spin the vase around when you paint
Do yourself a favor and buy a lazy susan makes the job so much easier.
