    I love your video. Informative and real. You are real, not a video pretend person. I like that you figured out a better way to paint the next one. And also you listened to your husband and corrected your error

      I appreciate that! Thank you so much! I do try to listen to other people's opinions when I ask them to be honest. I had stared at that paint job so long, I needed a second opinion! I still keep this up in my dining room 😁

      Thank you! Yes, such basic and inexpensive materials and it mimics the high end store one pretty well. I still keep this up in my dining room, it's such a statement piece - - and everyone thinks it's a big stone!

    What a refreshing DIY vlog with a REAL person and a bonus sense of humour. And real DIY, including a redo and mistakes. You go, girl. I think after Covid, most of us are over insincere, self-promotional DIY vlogs. Loved this, keep going please, I've subscribed and are following. Lots of love from sunny South Africa (Cape Town).

      You completely made my day! Thank you for the fantastic comment and compliments! It amazes me that someone a far away as South Africa has watched our channel! And I'm totally jealous that it's 'sunny' South Africa...I haven't seen the sun for days. Winter is so grey. But your comment is all sunshine 😊

    You are too cute!!! Love the facial expressions and the snarky comments! Also love all the technical methods you used to create this masterpiece!!! This would look so good in my house, so if you feel like a road trip to Virginia, feel free to stop on by! 🙃🐞

    I thank you for soooo many reasons. Firstly, your instructions were very easy to follow and no unnecessary chit-chat, nor annoying noisy music. You took the time to show us how you got the disc to be dimensional. You have a pleasant speaking voice, which I appreciate as I’m a senior and many of the young girls doing tutorials have voices that I find difficult to hear. And lastly, just an all around great tutorial! I do think you should have started with a darker colour first as the final look would have looked more textured. Thank you so much for sharing. I would be curious to know approximately how many hours it took to complete. Well worth the time for sure! 👏👏👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

      @HomeCulture  Рік тому

      Thank you for leaving me such an encouraging comment! I love getting tips on how to keep my videos engaging. I spent over a week on this disc, most of it because I had to keep leaving the paint to dry...and because I was still working out on what worked best. If I was to do re-make it, I'd say 3-4 days, again due to the drying time. I still have it out in my dining room!

Because I want you to know just how much I enjoyed it and how much I appreciate what a good job you did. As soon as I finished watching, I subscribed. I love this and will probably be making one of my own. Your instructions were fun and interesting. Sometimes I have to click out of someone’s demo because their instructions are so very tedious to listen to. And they don’t shut the camera off while the repetitive parts are being done. You did, and that kept me interested and your humor kept me engaged. I’ve subscribed and now I am going to look for that wood aging tutorial that you mentioned.

    Would love to know how you aged the wood base?

    • @HomeCulture
      @HomeCulture  Рік тому +1

      It was a scrap piece of wood that was left outside in the weather, rain, snow, sun... Then I cut off the 'ugly' end and sanded it smooth. So really, just find the ugliest, damaged piece of wood, sand it and add a little stain! It was a piece of wood that would normally get thrown out.

    Actually is a better color and texture than the RH , and a grandiose price point .

    Great job and it looks really good and well done for getting it done for less than $15. But obviously the cost does not include labour or artistic license. It counts purely material costs. When you buy it from the artist you are paying for the idea and the hours of work which seems fair as well. Not criticism, just reality.

    • @HomeCulture

      I totally agree! That's why handmade things are so special. The value comes from the artist. Thanks for the great comment!

    what is up with the annoying music...so many good ideas but kill the video with the repetitive background music....

      Ahh, I'm sorry! We try different ideas to see what works and sometimes we get a flop! We'll keep an ear out against repetitive music for future videos 😊

      @@HomeCulture sometimes no music works much better than having it playing in the background. Ur ideas are great and u have the potential of growing your channel to the next level...however music only takes away the good experience in watching the video... For me, content is the main focus when making a video and not the music...bad content will not be fixed by having music. I hope my honest opinion will help in future videos...if you decide to continue using music just place it very very very very low in the background...blessings to you and yours.

      @@lolitabonita08 Funny that you say that! Ralph does the editing and he's been using music less. And changing it up to match the mood/temp of what is being done in the video. There has been so much learning with creating videos, as it's not our background! I've been doing home decor and reno projects since I was young, but it's a different world when the element of video is added.
