To those who think you can do it better: great! perhaps share your ways and NOT spread negativity. Thank you Larry and AMMO NYC
I just read some of the comments. I can't believe how negative some people are. You did a great job on this video and I learned a couple of things. Thank you and the best of luck with your business.
I totally agree!! I, too, learned a few things, especially about spraying directly on the instrument panel, which is something I used to do. I say used to because I won't be doing that again! Nice video, in my opinion.
Hey bud...I use the razor first too get the heavy junk off and to spare the clay from filling up fast. Razor cost next to nothing and clay is annoyingly expensive. You can absolutely just use the clay but the razor does most of the heavy lifting for me. Thanks for watching! -L
It cracks me up that people are dogging him for his detailing practices. As soon as you guys start posting videos that get 100k plus views, are invited to some of the top detailing conventions (to teach classes nonetheless), are trusted with a 2 million dollar Ferrari's paint, and own your own product line, then maybe, just maybe, can you whine from your computers at home about how you would do a better job.
I understand that some of them may be detailers themselves but at the same time, I can imagine the armchair critics (who got their out of date information from their father or grandfather) saying "No, ha ha."
I haven't seen anything that I thought would cause damage to the car which he hasn't discussed. I think it's fair to say he's going overboard, but you can do whatever you want with your own car...
Listen up boys and girls . . . Larry here of Ammo NYC is one of the best detailers in the U.S. He has lots of other videos and they are highly informative and entertaining and worth a close listen if you are into car care. I've had the pleasure of attending one of the best detailing schools in America and I can tell you that he really is a credit to the detailing industry. If I'm not mistaken, he also starting up a detailing academy of his own. I'd love to attend THAT one too one day!
Best video I've ever seen on how to clean a windshield! Fantastic job! I love the razor blade idea. If you're good with your hands and hold the right angle there shouldn't be a problem with scratching the glass! I've been using a razor blade to clean glass windows for over 45 years and never hurt the glass. Keep up the excellent work!
cgminds M I only use the razor on glass not the film. I'm a professional photographer I have lens that cost over $20,000. I know how to take care of glass. Never used a razor on film! I don't have film on the outside of any of my cars. I do have film on a few of my vehicles on the inside but I don't use the razor on the inside. If you're a craftsman and you have experience you won't have a problem using a razor. I was a Master Craftsman at PBS for years building everything from glass boxes to neon sculptures.
Errol Dillon I use close up glasses to see the glass in great detail. Also the angle of the razor has to be kept at a very low angle when cleaning. Also being extremely careful is the key. I'm always doing it slow & softly. Haste makes waste. I'll grant you that most people who aren't skilled with their hands might leave the razor in the box. Experience users are the ones to try this. Thanks for trying to help. I've been doing the glass with a razor for over 45 years! Not one problem! YET!
Errol Dillon no no no! I mean all cars have a layer of plastic film on the outside. Lamination. U use a blade and guarantee you will create very fine scratches. Not worth it. I've done it and learned. There paste that cleans and removed what a blade removes. Much safe. Wait till you drive a car that someone run a blade on it, wait till sun set and the right angle, u will agree
Ask any pro car windshield guy about it. He will agree with me 100%. On regular class you can use a blade all you want. But not a car windshield. Duhhhhhhhh
Larry I think your the most proper professional detailer on UA-cam to date. I follow all of your advice on my 99 Saab 9-5 and it looks great, lots of people give compliments on my car. All thanks to you and your awesome vids. keep up the good work!

These products are great, both the rain-repellent and the anti-fog; I've tested them on my helmet visor (it's my latest vid) - the rain repellent worked well, I could see a noticeable improvement in the size of the water droplets and the way they bead, but the anti-fog was spot-on, no fogging whatsoever.
I'm not loyal to Rain-X...just happen to have some lying around. I'm sure those others work great too. Doesn't really matter (to me) which hydrophobic product you use....they all are pretty effective. Thx for watching!

I know it's weird but I come back every other week and watch this, idk why something about this video in the cold and cloudy weather but cleaning something is relaxing to watch
Your methods make sense and jive with what I would do as well. I’m a female & agree that I find Windows the most difficult to clean without leaving streaks. Keeping your cloth flat and folded is a good tip. I often need to clean my windows mid-week between washes. They can be fairly dirty depending on wind and other factors, so a few spurts of cleaner is not enough to thoroughly clean. Yet my car is newish, so I’m not ready for the clay yet.
Can I just say one thing, where the Rain sensor is for the auto wipers I found in my car applying the hydrophobic layer makes the rain sensor think its raining heavier than it really is. I tend to do all my windscreen then leave that small area. Just something I noticed on my car and though I would share.
Love watching these videos ! I don't detail professionally but i watch these videos to keep my car looking purdy ! And these tips and tricks have made a huge difference from my way of doing it ! Thanks :)
I spent a couple of years working as a commercial window cleaner so I'm fortunate that a lot of this knowledge feels like common sense to me. :D Good video, but I do like to lift my razer blades up after each stroke to avoid scratching caused by grime trapped behind the blade. Although I'll admit this is more of a concern on large window panes that have concrete overspray or the likes.
As far as it goes, a great clip - If you want to get the stuck-on crud off the windshield - instead of using a razor on a stick on the windshield, try using 0000 grade steel wool with the invisible glass as a lubricant. Easier and safer and produces great results.
I run a tempering and laminating glass fabrication plant and we used 0000 steel wool to lift ANY debris from the surface. Just please us fresh wool. We don’t lubricate but guess that wouldn’t hurt.
I think using Carnuba hand wax as the final finish is much better than Rain X. It leaves my windows crystal clear, it sheds water I think better than Rain X, and the windows cleans better during routine cleaning. I use regular Windex, a scotch pad, final cleaning with Windex and a microfiber cloth, then add the wax. All I can say I've never had cleaner crystal clear windows like this before.
i rarely comment on a video but when i do it means that it's something extremely good i love your work i don't know about the others but according to me you are the best detailer in the world.
+tavi921 I use Invisible Glass with newspaper that is about two weeks old. I don't know why but if the newspaper is around that old, it works better than a 2-day-old newspaper. Must be the kind of paper they use.
Great video. I have a 2002 Honda Accord, and have owned about a dozen or so vehicles. Sometimes Windex and newsprint works awesome. However, my 2002 Accord, is being a pain to get "Crystal" clear. This video has opened my eyes to how to get your windshield spotless. Also, the passenger side approach to inside windshield cleaning is the way to go. Fighting with the steering wheel is a pain. Thanks for the tips Bro.
Stoner Inc. or Invisible Glass is made about 40 minutes from my house, near Quarryville, PA . I actually did a factory tour in 8th grade for career shadowing (electrical engineer) and their facility was really clean and nicely laid out. I know they were in the process of adding more automation stuff so I'm sure it is cooler than when I visited there. I think it would be a neat video to do a factory tour and maybe Stoner would do that. I'm not to sure how far away you are from Pennsylvania though.
I love every single one of your video....specially when I found out I was doing the same thing you show here for years...make me feel good about myself...
I have watched several of your videos and you give straightforward advise on doing a great job regardless of what you are doing. A Big thumbs up for sharing your experience as a detail technician.
Thanks for the tips. For years I've been experimenting with different products with very limited results. There's nothing quite like having perfect glass. I have one of the Porter Cable buffers that I use on my paint, never thought to use it with a thinner pad for glass. You look and like a true pro or you're just really into it. Thanks again.
notice how this guy holds his left arm in the air, instinctively, when he wipes off the windshield. on expensive cars, you dont want to put your hand on the paint of the hood!! hehe
I like to paint model plains and recently I can't find one I really want to paint, so I have gotten into detailing and washing my car. For some reason I get the same satisfaction from building models as I get from cleaning my car. These videos are great.
Very good procedure, best i've seen. Im sure that glass looks just like new when you finish. However.. you're giving some of us a heart attack by leaving the razor blade tool on the car ;).
Larry, can't believe you put that razor on the pads and towels like that. I was just waiting for it start rolling and cutting into the paint. You're braver than I. :)
Two rags thick, you can tell the handle is raised off the surface. I'd have still sat my materials elsewhere though. First detail shop I every worked at, the boss got me in the habit of Never siting anything on customer cars. It's poor form in my opinion. Just like him always hanging bottles on front pockets. Wearing belts with exposed buckles, and jackets with un-shielded zippers if your working when its colder.
Fantastic detailed instructions. I am really glad that I found your channel. One observation is that I saw a couple of times your jacket has metal peaces for the zippers and almost touching the paint. Always happy to watch your videos.
Its fastest and most effective. Removes all contaminants. I work at body shop. After getting painted the cars always have over spray on them so steel wool is what's used to clean.
Simply said, "you are great". your informative, and demonstrate everything with ease. I am glad you gave up your corporate job to do what you enjoy. Life is too short. II have learned a many of lessons having subscribed to your channel. Thanks Larry.
Great video, learned some nice tips&tricks. To all the negative comments regarding the jacket; I have the exact same one, and FYI, there is not any exposed metal/sharp material on it! Simply a softshell jacket with wind/waterprotection over all zip's.
Hey! Stoner is located 30 minutes from my house and I toured their factory when I career shadowed their electrical engineer/manager. Really clean shop and just about everything is watched and maintained. Really good company and good products to!
I never believed people, but newspaper works the best on cleaning the interior glass. The ink in the newsprint acts to grab the residues on the glass and leaves it squeaky clean. I tried a million microfiber cloths and none work as good as newspaper.
Yeah, black & white (not colour) newspaper is the best! Just change to a new piece of newspaper before it leaves a trail of lint. The only down side is it will make your hand black from the ink so wear a disposal glove or wash your hands. With the thick microfiber cloths I've found it leaves fine dust on the glass.
If you think newspaper works great, try invisible glass seriously. I'm doing maybe 8 or 9 details a week and Im getting all 17 glass surfaces done averaging about 15 minutes a car for glass. Invisible glass and microfiber
I doubt all you haters have half the knowledge of larry, he knows exactly what he's doing because he has been doing it for so long, watch his video on million dollar cars, doubt any of the haters would have the balls to touch any of them, let alone this bentley.
Mr. AMMO. If you ever read this comment, please try 0000 steel wool. It does everything you just did in one step. The wool will polish and clean the glass. After rain X it and wind shield wipers are almost not even necessary. I have been doing this for years with great results. Maybe your way is superior but the steel wool may save you some time which is money. Not telling you how to do your job just a suggestion. Great job by the way.
jermzdee the steel wool may end up on your painted surface and contaminate the paint and add potential for scratching. That’s the theory against steel wool.
great vid larry i dig catching little insights from a true pro that details with the philosophies on car care, detailing's about the details after all.
+wrx86 I saw it too, I also noticed the razor blade tool on the hood that could of scratched the paint if the wind blew hard. If that was my car I would be pissed.
I love this video. I tried cleaning the interior side of my windshield and I streaked the hell out of it, ive been looking at the streaks for the last few months since its been really cold out and I didn't feel like trying to re-clean it while its cold out
Hi Larry, Thanks for another great video. It is much safer to use very very fine wire wool and glass polish, (used to use this on new cars to get delivery wax and crud off). You only need to slip once with a blade, and oops ££££ for a new seal :-o
Just note on using wire wool, it has to be ( Grade 0000), nothing rougher!! Not even grade 0. The difference between grade 0000 and grade 0 is twice ( x 2 ) the micron size.
Very informative video, just like all of yours. I just done this process, but i hit the windscreen with heavy cut compound and polish after, unfortunately just the very very light wiper scratches have come out, nothing else, any sand or dust scratches will not come out. If your windscreen is a mess, just get a new one, you.ll waste a whole day trying to remove the scratches.
Great glass cleaning regimen! I use Griot's Glass Sealant as my last step for exterior glass, and I use a damp microfiber followed by a dry one to remove the haze from the sealant.

I hope the zipper pulls on that jacket are rubberized or soft plastic! 😱
That’s why you aren’t epic like Larry who owns his own business and details million dollar cars.
and what about the zipper on his jacket against the fender?
Fantastic detailed instructions. I am really glad that I found your channel.
One observation is that I saw a couple of times your jacket has metal peaces for the zippers and almost touching the paint.
Always happy to watch your videos.
Thanks Larry.
What's your take on the steel wool (0000) debate?
Its fastest and most effective. Removes all contaminants. I work at body shop. After getting painted the cars always have over spray on them so steel wool is what's used to clean.
Simply said, "you are great". your informative, and demonstrate everything with ease. I am glad you gave up your corporate job to do what you enjoy. Life is too short. II have learned a many of lessons having subscribed to your channel. Thanks Larry.
this dude knows his stuff
i know this as being one of the worlds fussiest men with his cars
Great video, learned some nice tips&tricks.
To all the negative comments regarding the jacket; I have the exact same one, and FYI, there is not any exposed metal/sharp material on it! Simply a softshell jacket with wind/waterprotection over all zip's.
You are a pro, but why have a jacket on with zip fasteners that could scratch the paintwork?
North face jackets normally have a flap to hide the main zip and zipper. But not on the heart pocket pocket.
love the drivers seat avoidance trick ... why didn't i think of that all these years??? thanx so much you are very good.
“After all that, the glass is gonna look like......
The glass” 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
OFoxHldgs Correct. Printers ink contains graphite, very effective as a polishing agent. Been using newsprint forever to clean glass.
If you think newspaper works great, try invisible glass seriously. I'm doing maybe 8 or 9 details a week and Im getting all 17 glass surfaces done averaging about 15 minutes a car for glass. Invisible glass and microfiber
that car is absolutely beautiful beautiful on the interior and what an amazing video because it just shows how much of a true professional you are
7:25 Flicks rain-x onto paint and SKIN on fender.
Saw that too! :o
lol, sharp eye...
Your the best! Just bought a 3 yr old Lexus and I want to really Baby it. I'm excited about both the great products AND advice. Thanks again!
I doubt all you haters have half the knowledge of larry, he knows exactly what he's doing because he has been doing it for so long, watch his video on million dollar cars, doubt any of the haters would have the balls to touch any of them, let alone this bentley.
So true. Being a hater is one thing, being an ignorant hater is another level of dumb.
Picked up one of the razor blade handles last week for my windshield. Highly recommend.
I realise now, I have never "cleaned" my windows...
thanks
Mr.
Could you use steel wool instead of the razor blade
great vid larry i dig catching little insights from a true pro that details with the philosophies on car care, detailing's about the details after all.
did anyone notice him accidentally drip rain-x on the cars paint at 7:25? lol
I caught that too. Yikes!
+Zachary Freese Now I did lol
+wrx86 I saw it too, I also noticed the razor blade tool on the hood that could of scratched the paint if the wind blew hard. If that was my car I would be pissed.
It's Larry, not like he couldn't fix it immediately
He does have the layer of Skin on there that he'll take off after. Perhaps this is why.
I love this video. I tried cleaning the interior side of my windshield and I streaked the hell out of it, ive been looking at the streaks for the last few months since its been really cold out and I didn't feel like trying to re-clean it while its cold out
The best stuff for sealing your windows is carnauba wax.
You did a great job showing us, I can learn because you repeat the importance of doing it right
Hi Larry, Thanks for another great video.
I learnt loads from this video. Thank you for taking the time to produce this. Also you ammo shirts are so awesome
7:25 YOU GOT RAIN X ON THE PAINT
whooooo cares
Dreamst8r me i care
@@andypham7796 its a jason genova quote
Dreamst8r it’s sick n pissing
@@Dreamst8r just needs mopped
i used your process to clean the glass on my car windows and they look great. stoner invisible glass works wonders.
am I the only one trying to grab that razor blade away from the car? lol
I’ve used the Sealant from Grito’s Garage. Coated and buffed the glass and it beads up the water well too ! Something to try, lasts long too
Haha, Your so good at this but what amuses me is that you do so much work on a fancy gently but i do all this on my 15 year old shit box, lmfao.
GhettoMist Larry started out on a Fox Body Mustang if memory serves
Ghettomist, that's good man keep that car mint!
To hell with Rain-X. I just use regular car wax, it lasts 10x longer.
Great glass cleaning regimen! I use Griot's Glass Sealant as my last step for exterior glass, and I use a damp microfiber followed by a dry one to remove the haze from the sealant.
please tell me how i've come in from the pub and ended up watching this?
Just gotta love the way that zipper is going up and down the paint when you use the Griots :)
I used the razor method on my paint work and now my cars covered in scratches?!
this guy is a scientist at detailing!!!
Can't believe you have a zipper on your jacket that is getting oh so close to the paint.
His company apparel is always lookin good, great style, very professional.
7:27 He squirted the rain x on the paint...lol
Excellent video, professional, classy and very good information, thank you very much !! Nothing like learning from a skilled and experienced teacher.
This aint 2k
Oldie but goodie! These videos take me back
