Before oiling my face, I use a toner made from vegetable glycerin and rose water. I stopped using industrial face cream and started using oils like rosehip, aleo vera, and almond oil... I never had a glow, smooth skin like now.
I have been using Rosehip oil only at night on my face for 5 years now, my skin is so clear, it’s so lightweight, I love it. I do sometimes use a cream instead of this, but find sometimes night creams can be quite heavy. Have always used on damp skin, so glad I was right on that👌😃 I always thought that oils always go on top of moisturisers not the other way around, I heard or read that oils can penetrate cream, now I know!🤦♀️ thanks Dr dray💕
I have extremely dry skin, I've been applying good quality olive oil / coconut oil on top of a moisturizer (after moisturizer has fully absorbed) on my face before bed several times per week for years, and it works wonderfully!
Thank you for all you do. Because of you, I have finally gotten into the habit of reapplying my SPF as well as layering it to cover potential skip areas 😊❤️
I use the ordinary's rose hip oil at the end of my night routine and it does something magical, but i have oily skin and it's not my only moisturizing step.. I start with a hydrating toner, then a treatment toner (my skin does better with watery textures over serums), then the b5 d-panthenol cream from cosrx, follow with the laroche posay adapalene treatment, then finish off with the rose hip oil.

I’m scared to use toners because they’ve ruined my skin before with irritation. 😩

My acne actually got so much better by using jojoba oil! I tend to pick a lot too and I actually think the oil sped up the healing too. (I am working on the picking, it's not as easy to quit as one might think haha)
I totally follow your advice and thanks to you I've been able to really recover from the chronic rosacea that has plagued me for decades. Most creams and moisturizers are very irritating and sting the heck out of my skin. Whereas oils (I like a few from the ordinary) never irritate. But they are not enough on their own. So I put on oil first and then a thick cream like laroche posay cicabaum. Also, I find that I won't need quite as much as the cream can spread more easily without having to rub my sensitive skin. this makes so much sense. I have incredibly dry, eczema prone skin and i would layer two moisturizers with an oil on top..and my skin never felt like it would hold onto the moisture. I always felt like the oil did a poor job at holding any moisture into my skin. Vaseline does a far superior job.
Tried them all, I'm too tired at night for fussing with creams, the very best oil is actually castor oil - it doesn't make your eyes sting and does not stay oily on your skin but goes matte and is soothing, so you can get out of the shower, put some on your palms and pat it on. All done in seconds. Go to sleep.
I finally got a cleansing oil for doing a double cleanse in the evening, on the days when I wear a thick sunscreen. Works great! I've tried using just oil on my face and it's not moisturizing enough.

There are people who swear by it for skin care including at least one beauty blogger I follow (she's Italian). And at least one channel on here (holistic) likes olive oil as well.
I use both, depending on how my skin is feeling. My legs get so dry in the winter, so I use oil and a cream. I double cleanse with an oil/oil based balm, and some of the Korean sleeping pack moisturizers I use before Tretinoin have oils in them... they help out tremendously with keeping the peelies at bay.

@@sneakymom7528 Yes! Cerave products have been my holy grail. I do use Aveeno calm and restore cleanser once a day ( at night) followed by either cerave pm or cerave cream in the tub if i need something thicker. During the day I just use cerave am spf 30. That’s it! Hopefully that helps.
I don't know about the science of any of this (that's you lol). However in my culture we use oils over creams especially extra virgin olive oil...idk why but it makes my skin so soft and smooth and I use it instead of primer before makeup. I have combination oily and idk it just works for me.
I use walnut oil at night as the first step in double cleanse. Then I follow up with cerave hydrating cleanser or neutrogena hydro boost gentle cleansing lotion. This works well for me and I don’t foresee myself switching anytime soon. Finally!
For me, it just kinda depends on the weather and the condition on my skin. I live in Thailand and it's so hot and humid. Moisturizer during summer at night can be a nightmare. I use some hydrating toner and a light layer of oil, which I think is enough. And I use toner and just sunscreen (a lot) in the morning. If it's get colder (well... I mean around 25-30), I would use a bit of moisturizer on top of that (usually gel cream).
I’ve always wondered why some oils make my skin peel. It just didn’t make sense. Thank you Dr. Dray for the answer:) and other oils make me breakout. I’ve never been able to use any consistently. I think I’ll stop trying now, lol
Hi Dr. Dray, thank you for all the skin care lessons. My worst acne was totally eliminated though I still have small zits now and then which I guess due to hormonal changes. Well I love argan oil, it's so mild, thin and non comedogenic unlike coconut oil and olive oil that caused me really bad breakouts. So I hope that formulator should totally remove coconut oil and olive oil in skincare unless for medicinal reasons and just put it in our diet.
I use both. Sometimes I mix squalane oil in with my moisturizer, sometimes I put an oil on first. Different oils depending on my skins attitude that day. 🙄
When my skin starts peeling from Tretinoin I apply Aveeno oat oil- it’s Amazing!! I have spent hundreds of dollars on oils lately trying to find one that doesn’t burn and actually moisturizes and finally found the holy grail Aveeno oil. I highly recommend this oil for anyone peeling from tretinoin
Happy Friday! Almost a year ago I got rose hip oil and didn't know where to incorporate it. I ended up using it on my body hehe. Now, I'm down sizing steps.
I’m 61. I use coconut oil on my skin to clean and moisturize alone or with a cream, but I live in a humid place. I also use it in my hair because it soaks right in.
I use both. I add the oil in. When it feels and/or looks dry. I use Sesame Oil Body Wash as my first cleanse in double cleanse (Dr. Dray uses it). The other oil I use is Marula Oil (an ingredient used a lot in drunknelrojanr. BUT, I use another much moreaffordable brand. It seems to work really really well for me). The smell of occult oil (at all) makes me want to be sick! I’m glad it turns out to NOT be some miracle product.
This is an incredibly insightful video! Thanks a million for everything you do on here, Andrea! Any chance you could do a video on which ingredients to look out for in skin care products (both the good and the bad)? You rock!
A good dupe for the Neutogina oil is Kroger light body oil. It’s cheaper too. Love to put it on my body after a shower. Makes your skin feel so good with just a hint of sesame oil.
Thanks for the info Dr Dray :) I use oil along with my moisturiser and it has helped my acne a lot, I still get hormonal breakouts but it’s not as bad as it used to be.
I have very dry skin and I hate using oils. All I see on line are people and pages recommending oils for dry skin and hair and I felt like a weirdo because when I use oils over an extended time my skin and hair eventually become as dry as a desert. I totally stay away from oils for moisturizing because it does the opposite for me
My grandmother used olive oil her whole life. If it wasn't for her white hair you'd think she was in her 40s ... She's 77. It's an ancient beauty secret.

Happy Friday! I hope you’re well.
You too!!
cleansing oils are my main skincare oil product, always followed up with a gentle cleanser, like the vanicream cleanser
I’ve always wondered why some oils make my skin peel. It just didn’t make sense. Thank you Dr. Dray for the answer:) and other oils make me breakout. I’ve never been able to use any consistently. I think I’ll stop trying now, lol
I use olive oil soap. Works great in removing oil cleanser and water resistant sunscreen.
Y’all...the new Versed antioxidant oil serum is a delight.
Wanting to try that one!
And I’m like “why not both?”
My skin is painfully dry. I use HA, Polyglutamic Acid, then an oil, and then a moisturizer.
Yes! I mix my moisturizer with a couple drops of oil.
I use both. Sometimes I mix squalane oil in with my moisturizer, sometimes I put an oil on first. Different oils depending on my skins attitude that day. 🙄
Same!
Cleanser 1, cleanser 2, moisturizing essence, Retinol 1% in squalane, cerave facial moisturizer. Perfect for me in winter :)!
@@ninafalzone2399 What brand of squalane oil do you use, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks in advance.
Are you getting it in the US?
Happy Friday! Almost a year ago I got rose hip oil and didn't know where to incorporate it. I ended up using it on my body hehe. Now, I'm down sizing steps.
Happy Friday!

@@whitneybrown4067 happy Friday too 😎 and wish you a nice weekend 🥳☃️
I’m 61. I use coconut oil on my skin to clean and moisturize alone or with a cream, but I live in a humid place. I also use it in my hair because it soaks right in.
Yay! Another video! I’m learning so much from you! Thank you Dr. Dray! Hope that you and everyone is staying safe!
I only use Aveeno, Lotion, Shave gel, Body wash and shampoo. Love Aveeno!!! It's the only thing that works on my skin!
Aveeno is goated. It’s literally the one.
@@SamMKKK which aveeno
This is an incredibly insightful video! Thanks a million for everything you do on here, Andrea! Any chance you could do a video on which ingredients to look out for in skin care products (both the good and the bad)? You rock!
A good dupe for the Neutogina oil is Kroger light body oil. It’s cheaper too. Love to put it on my body after a shower. Makes your skin feel so good with just a hint of sesame oil.
I always agree with everything you say-- not this time! I would advocate mixing the oil with your moisturiser instead.
Thanks for the info Dr Dray :) I use oil along with my moisturiser and it has helped my acne a lot, I still get hormonal breakouts but it’s not as bad as it used to be.
Dr. Dray always saves the day!
I have very dry skin and I hate using oils. All I see on line are people and pages recommending oils for dry skin and hair and I felt like a weirdo because when I use oils over an extended time my skin and hair eventually become as dry as a desert. I totally stay away from oils for moisturizing because it does the opposite for me
Such a true comment I don’t feel alone
You probably used oils on dry skin. Use oils on damp skin is key
I use a touch of tamanu oil if I want to look glowy and tanned. Oils are underrated as a cosmetic.
I use CeraVe night cream, but my skin feels tight or sticky. I can't explain, but once I put oil on top, it feels so much better.
Oils tend to sit on top of my skin and leave it dry underneath, I prefer creams.
My grandmother used olive oil her whole life. If it wasn't for her white hair you'd think she was in her 40s ... She's 77. It's an ancient beauty secret.
How often how and when did she use it
Olive oil has actually been proven to be damaging to the skin. Try rosehip, or squalane which are recommended for the face.
I only use oil for the past five years. But only on a wet face, saturated with rose hydrosol. My skin has never been better.
I really appreciate Dr Drays pretty much daily videos! It’s all I watch on youtube. Hope you have an awesome weekend!
great topic thanks and happy Friday xo
Thanks for watching!
Happy Friday 😊
