- The S2 Vela Semi-Hollow Satin is a vintage-inspired guitar with loads of personality and tonal textures. The Vela boasts a contemporary offset body shape, and the addition of a semi-hollow body and satin nitro finish gives the Vela added attitude and resonance with a truly addictive feel. Its pickguard-loaded electronics feature a PRS DS-01 pickup in the treble pickup position, providing a bright, punky tone, while the PRS Narrowfield in the bass pickup position gives the Vela some noteworthy bite. The coil-tap on the tone control allows the treble pickup to tap into single coils, providing a balanced tone that will cut through the mix with style. Anchoring this guitar is the PRS plate-style bridge with two saddles that were designed to compensate for intonation. This bridge harkens back to Paul’s early designs and traditional bass plate-style bridges but is top-loading for easy restringing. Like the bridge found on Paul’s Guitar and some Private Stock models, PRS’s plate-style bridge features brass saddles and a steel plate for maximum tonal sustain.
After ten years, the PRS S2 Series is being updated with USA-made pickup and electronics for 2024 (and beyond). We are proud to bring this added value to what has become a fully integrated part of our manufacturing line and product offering.

Wow I have a black satin s2 Vela 2017 solid body and I love it. Those American pickups and electronics sound really good. This guy does the best demos.
I Just received mine from Sweetwater a few weeks back and it's everything I expected and then some. Mine weighs barely over 5lbs which is fantastic for someone with chronic back pain.
You might want to check out Gruv Gear's Duo Strap Neo (still in stock with some dealers) and its optional tension strap (still available) for a two-shoulder strap system, just bear in mind that you might need straplocks to use the tension strap (I use Dunlop Dual Design Straploks.). Also, the Hinomi H1 Pro ergonomic chair is EVERYTHING! Signed, someone who has spastic cerebral palsy and a deep passion for guitar.
Great upgrade on the electronics. I would have kept the dots because they suit this model but that's just me.
Perhaps the most original design and best all-around lead tone in their line, the S2 Vela is simply one of the most underrated guitars that PRS, (or anyone), is building.

The prs narrowfield sounds great and clean. Love it. Yet totally different than the “old” neck pickup. Less grit/girthy/vintagery/teley… if that make sends

Oh man I wish PRS had released the S2 standard or custom 22 satin in a Semi Hollow as well with the upgraded pickups this year.

Any insight on why the aluminum bridge plate was changed to steel and a narrowfield added in the neck position? Both of these choices seem to seek to reduce the resonance and thick growl I love in my Vela's in favor of a more standard "Made in California" styled guitar.

PRS should start turning the F holes on the semi hollows into the same bird on the 12th fret. Why put an F on a PRS? A bird hole!

I have gassed for this guitar for many years, and now that I almost have the money ready, I’m absolutely gutted to see that they removed the dynasonic and added the birds. This is not a Vela any more. 😢 The vela is gone. They should give this guitar a new name. Gutted. I’ll now have to go with plan b: a Reverend Double Agent.
