- This is Van Halen, "Good Enough" with unreleased soundboard audio from (Live Without A Net) New Haven concert from 1986. Amature video footage was taken from a Van Halen Concert on 8-30-86. I thought it turned out pretty good for the hour and a half I spent on it.
As teenager, I thought my world ended when DLR left Van Halen. Then the first time I heard them with Sammy was "Love Walks In" on the radio. I remember thinking, "Um, they're a keyboard band now?" Then I bought 5150... "Hello Baaaaaaaby!" And all was right with the world again.
YIp . Me too
I was the same way in 1986 spring break FL. I heard the FL radio DJ introduce the New Van Halen Why Cant This Be Love. Iij was hooked. Loved DLR, but preferred and absolutely love Sammy.
I second that , wish I had a time machine to go back. Those were great times. Oh yeah baby !! R.I.P. Eddie let’s keep VH music alive ! Crank it up
Seen Van Halen several times.....Never disappointed.
It is physically impossible for Van Halen to be bad in my eyes
Sammy’s ‘Hello Baby’ is terrific and way more powerful than the studio take.
Live without a net shows a band utterly locked in. Flawless.
I spent more money renting that Beta tape than it actually cost to buy
they wanted to prove something and they damn sure did
I remember when this album came out, and all of us 16 year olds were so pumped to see how they would sound with Hagar. I popped the cassette in my radio driving home from the Mall and the first thing I hear is "Helllooo Baaaaby"!!
5150
Me too
Same. It was a perfect kick ass introduction to Van Hagar.
Same feeling here. I was 16, too:)
I was probably 17. Bought the vinyl.
i don't care who sings it , this is FULL TILT VAN HALEN !!!
AMEN
This rocks so hard really take`s me back man eddie was on fire in those days that solo is amazing , were have all the good times gone lol .
Man! I love VH music but that period was just GREAT! I never get tired of watching LWOAN. The energy and music were just amazing!
Live Without A Net was my introduction to the mighty Van Halen. 5150 was and still is my favourite VH album
Van Halen will always be great with both Dave & Sammy.
YES!! Thank you. Arguing over it is stupid. They were incredible, both ways. The music and song-writing was always incredible. So musical. And both front-men brought something special.
I was in 9th grade when 5150 came out. It was a new band. The past is gone this is what we have. I was happy to have it. I saw them in '88 and '91 with Hagar. It wasn't the real Van Halen. It was Van Hagar but damn good.
@jimmyz2098 YES....TOTALLY AGREE!!! Live both of them but Sammy took them into the new era with his great voice & class
sometimes we forgot that eddie is a hell of a rhythm guitar player
i don’t forget since he was the only guitarist other than some guests i suppose and sammy hagar live sometimes
I never forgot it. That was my favorite thing about Edward. The rhythm playing, and the song-writing that he developed around it.
In my opinion his rhythm work is actually much more interesting. Sometimes his solos go a bit over the top crazy.
Eddie- virtuoso supreme
You forget until you try to play them!
One of the best Sammy tracks. Straight forward rock n roll. Should have made more like this!
To the people who think this is not from the soundboard and maybe some studio trick you are simply nuts. I saw them back then and they sounded exactly this good at every show I was at. They were incredible with Sammy. Also two good friend of mine were actually at the 2 nights they taped for LWOAN and they were have told me what you see is basically what you get. Of course there is post production and mixing to get the levels right and eliminate bad feedback. Simply the best live band ever.
I saw VH over 20 times, and they always sounded better than the record live. Always locked in. Always left you asking how the hell they did it. True Masters of their craft.
R.I.P to my favorite guitarist of all time and in the whole world and one of my favorite people and musicians of all time and in the whole world Eddie Van Halen. I’m gonna miss you Eddie a whole lot now I will never get to see you or watch you and the rest of Van Halen perform live in person something on my bucket list I want to check off but anyway we love you Eddie. (K.O.R.I.H)Keep On Rockin In Heaven 🎸.
They gotta rerelease LWOAN with this track and all the other cut songs from this show now that Ed's left us
1:50 Sammy is pointing to a woman in the audience who was mooning him during the performance. The band mentioned that in a interview they gave to MTV.
i remember that lol she was on top of her bf or something and eddie said he was laughing so hard he could barely play
Mike WAS the backing vocals... never enough credit...
dave runner yeah, but him and Eddie together sounded amazing. Classic
Good point! Yes they were.
^^True story there.
The best concert I've ever been to!!! And I've been to a LOT of shows
Great sound! Sammy's voice is great here. ice9001 I totally agree with Eddie being on fire here (during the 5150 and 0u812 eras).
Thanks for posting this
Why the hell wasn't Good Enough and Wild Thing added to the re-release of Live Without A Net ?!?
+JamesClark ISR ****IS*** To be honest I haven't seen better. I'm always blown away when I watch his solo from this show and I've seen it so many damn times.....
Audio problems
DLR could’ve did this song he fits it too.
@@alneri3706 A number of the songs were being worked up when Dave left, maybe this was one of them.
And why didn’t they play dreams?
This particular song contains everything that makes Van Halen such a great band.
Alex and Michael were completely locked in on this whole record. Eddie's guitar playing speaks for itself. Sammy's vocals here just take it all over the top.
I prefer the DLR era material, but this is one of, if not my favorite VH song ever.
17 years before I was born. Wish I could’ve spent 17 days in 1986. Would’ve loved to see Live Without A Net in person! Long Live The Mighty Van Halen!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
GOD DAMN!!!!! That was AWESOME!!! I can;t believe they left that off the video.
Yeah like why?? 😂😪
Eddie is on absolute fire in this video..The solo is killer!! Thanks alot for the post!
When they FINALLY make a VH movie like they did for Queen...I think Keanu Reeves should be cast as Alex.
I can see that.
At 3:10 Eddie shinning in the lights. Makes him look like the god he is
Perfect song to open the new Van Halen album, with a new lineup at the time.
The outro ending solo in this song is one of the baddest ass sounds I've ever heard besides eruption of course but for a songs ending this gives me chill bumps every single time and that's what tells me something is extra good, R.I.P. Maestro Eddie Van Halen still missing you buddy.
What a band!!!! Never will there be something like them!!! VH forever!
VH was the ultimate rock n roll band. They had everything!!!
It was on the Spaceballs soundtrack :)
Sounds awesome. Thank you!
Great live version, love the solo!
Fantastic! VH really grew when they didn't have Roth holding them back with his craptastic vocals. And they totally look like they are having a blast up there on stage. Sammy would NEVER forget lyrics!
"forgetting" the lyrics was part of the show you silly...
carensaldi sounds good, son
I'd rather be David gay Roth the GAY Cherone
Cherone was a way bad choice. Hated that.
Sammy, hard working... also the luckiest man in rock and roll in 1986! Without his years in Van Halen it's hard to say what would have become of him after I Can't Drive 55...
This came out great! Thanks for the work put into it.
love the way he never plays the same solo, he just wings it, takes a lot of talent !
seemed like after 1993 ed would just play the solos on the record and the live gigs.. i always wondered why he went away from LWAN's non-album solos
@@wong5150 Not true at all watch Toronto balance tour always mixed up his solo's
He had a bag of licks he went to. Not really improvising.
@@Fearzero He invented the bag of trick and could improvise like NO other. The term rolling down the stairs was one term used to describe his uncanny ability to improvise.
Ya talkin shit boy
@@ianjones2731 Okay sure numb nuts.
3:04 and this whole lead section with this killer ending riff is INSANE
You said that right! I still say that Cherone was a fantastic singer. I have every single VH album and love them all.
Same!
probably the best van hagar tune
Certainly MY FAVORITE
Awesome show. Was at the Indianapolis concert. Wild times indeed. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Eddie Van Halen = genius 🎸 guitar master of masters
Why in the heck was this left off the LWAN video? It’s the best song on 5150.
This sounds amazing!First time I have heard this song live since I saw them in Memphis in March of 1986!
I remember when 5150 came out. Bought the tape, stuck it in the car stereo and cranked it up....and proceeded to scare the ever loving shit out of my Dad sitting next to me,when Sammy said “Hello Baaaaby”!
Holy shit the solo
Damn straight \m/
Thank you for this!
This was from nite 1 I was there and man was they great. Lwan was all nite 2 in New Haven.
Awesome! Wish this was on the DVD. Great version
I was 11 in 86, my older brother had bought 5150 on cassette . I remember he lent it to me and I put it into my walkman....... from that moment on this tune was permantley etched into my brain.
5150 was easy van halen best album
It's an unpopular opinion but I totally agree. The title track might be my favorite song of all time.
In the top two for sure
Yes.
Eddie was the *ULTIMATE GUITAR GOD*
Incase anyone was wondering... I found the full video of the concert, it's titled "Van Halen - Montreal, Canada August 20, 1986" Edit: Good Enough starts at 1:10:15
A good video editing effort. Captures the vibe.
If they could have written more stuff like this I'd be a bigger Sammy fan. This particular track is outstanding.
Sammy is leagues above DLR
Love this,Sammy a powerhouse singer also.
Hello! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day . Stay Safe!
When I saw this concert in Porltand, Oregon Sammy said: Hello babbbbby, then Eddie started YOU REALLY GOT ME!!!! It was my first concert Oct. 26, 1986!!!! Still my all time favorite BAND OF ALL TIME!!!!!
he had electronic pads for the speed drum roll on the diver down and 1984. AND the us fest.
Thank you, for putting this together! ;)
1:13 LOVE that lil guitar flicker note there ))))
Man is totally awesome
Long live van hagar 😊
eddie's on fire here
Ahhhh the original concert opener … nice!
If you think ANY rock band in history can get close to this you're kidding yourself!!
I always wondered why it was mentioned on the cover of LWAN but never was there...
great to hear and see!
Hellllooooo bááááááábyyyyy!
It was on the sleeve's tracklisting on the original VHS video release. Shame it wasn't included, killer tune! The version from the New Haven show is floating around, that show was also broadcast on radio in '86

Good Enough and Dreams were two songs I always wished had made it into LWAN…1986 was a great year for Van Halen fans, although I was crushed when DLR left Van Halen, we got two great albums (Eat ‘Em and Smile and 5150) along with two great tours in 1986. I wish DLR had released a live video of a full show that year, it would be great to look back on now and compare the two…both were on fire and had a point to prove.
Whoever decided not to include this on the lwoan video should lose their job

La época de Van Hagar no tiene desperdicio alguno🎸🎶🤟la primera vez que escuche 5150 completo me dejó con la boca abierta, creo está en el tope de la discografía de la banda.
Alex is playing an electronic drum kit. He used them some on the Diver Down and 1984 tours, but pretty much used them exclusively on this tour...
He used a combination of acoustic and Simmons drums.
The electronic kick is on 1984, but 5150 he added the toms.
The poster said the audio and video are from different shows basically. Audio is said to be from a soundboard from the LwaN show(s), and the video is amateur footage from another show.
Great job! Can't wait to see your next postings of whatever you have from the the LWAN shows! Great Van Halen era sans Dave, but who liked Dave by then anyway? He was crazy from the heat by then. Oh, and I hadn't thought of "rack of what?!?" in ages! Thanks!
This vid is great. I love what you did with this. I totally enjoyed this video. I’m going to check out your channel.
HELLO BABY, RACK OF WHAT?!?!!!!!!! Greatest band ever
Been listening to this one for so long and always thought Dave would’ve rocked this one.
Dave didn’t have the range for songs like this.
Most of the 5150 songs were written and in development while Dave was still in the band
@@MG-cd7wi I know just would’ve loved to hear him actually sing it
@@pinner01 me too
thanks for the GREAT post!
Slam Sammy all you want, but I've never seen a band having so much fun on stage
Crazy to think this is just all history now.
well right now I am working on a video for "Wild Thing" they played that that night as well.
0lease make an announcement. I'd like to se/ hear it👍😎
I used to have this on a westwood one LP from 1987.
"Wild Thing" was also on it.
JB
Sweat pants and tank tops… iconic.
It’s almost like at the end of a solo it’s an outtake from another song
Sounds great, one of my favorite VH tunes. I do wonder if it is really live, but I am not complaining.
It's live. The guitar solo on the studio version is nowhere as long.
best original post in awhile!
Spen, they shoulda hired you to do the Right Here, Right Now footage! This is a great video!
Live without a net is not the complete performance, but it still kicks ass!
Omg this takes me back some to that first scream!
Never heard this live. Love it. Ed should've stuck with the black pants and black shoes for the LWOAN shoot instead of the MC Hammer ultra baggy pink pants, lol.
When Is There Going To Be An Announcement Of Live Without A Net Released In Blu Ray
P Bracho never
When hell freezes over
one of my favorite hagar songs. Van Halen Rock
This should have been on Live Without a Net
wow amazing quality.
great song.

Pissed this isn't on my DVD!!
great work man thanks
the red rocker (ROCKS) !
Awesome! Is there a way to find this song on mp3 or cd anywhere? Id love to listen to this blasting in the car. Great post!
I was like "DLR left?" ugh.... then when I thought there was no hope....nope....with Sammy's first words "heloooo baybah". Oh man, after playin that disk, how could it get better than Sammy?..I dont know. Bar none my fave VH album....ever! For me it was released at the right time in my life that was so much fun. Everytime i hear any song from this album, it brings me back the good feelings of them days.
Long live VH !!!!
Great audio! Too bad it wasn't video of the whole song alone. Thanks for sharing though! Supposedly, Ed had a bass string on the low E string and the rest were standard guitar strings. Would have loved to seen that!
VAN HAGAR!
The REAL VAN HALEN!!!
not van roth...
I love how Alex used electric drums on this entire album
I don't.
in this tour they used to open with you really got me and then one way to rock
+santiago candioti Got Me was kind of old and lame...
Smokin'...these guys took no prisoners in the 80's....
