- Designed from the ground up to rival David Grissom’s favorite vintage amps, the PRS DGT 15 is rich with character and feels alive under your fingers. From sparkling cleans to heavy overdrive, this 15-watt single-channel amplifier intuitively offers tones beyond the typical limitations single-channel amps can have. It is a versatile amp with all the magic of smaller-wattage vintage tube amps but is fully applicable in a modern setting.

I wish they would show the extremes the amp is capable of, not just the tones the presenter likes. How much gain is on tap here? How clean can you get with humbuckers? Etc.
Something tells me PRS won't do that because Vox still does Vox sound better 😢
Why not check out the 1000s of reviews from the guitar UA-cam industrial complex that will be coming soon?
I will of course, just commenting on THIS review, since this is the comment area for THIS review, and it's the first review.
Indeed! With EL84's in the power amp section and no demonstration of any overdriven tones?
It would be commercial suicide. Viewers have ever shorter attention spans. They listen for 15s right at the moment it happens to be at min/max, "sounds terrible ".
This cat’s a real guitarist. The amp, the guitars and the playing are all top-notch. I’m actually considering purchasing this amp. I don’t need it but I’m really impressed.
Just bought one. 15 watts is perfect. Loud enough for most venues with the power tubes cranked, and for the big shows, you just mic it. Perfection.
PRS guys are so good at making every single product sound like the best product ever lol
That Goldtop DGT is beautiful
Nice. I saw David playing a pair of prototypes of this amp at Saxon Pub about 2 months ago. Sounded just like he usually does with the DGT30.
Now we need an HDRX 20 Vs DGT 15 video!
Great idea!
So happy for David! What an amazing talent!
Sounds really really good. Great trem. Another killer demo from the man.
Great addition to the lineup!
Excellent demonstration. The graphics are very effective.
Well done.
JT
Great demo and great playing.
Ive been looking to add a head/cab combo to my arsenal, and this will go perfect with my DGT. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Sounds really nice!
Awesome sounding amp! And Mr Ewald is one of my favorite guitar players around. 👌
Dang. Love this!
Awesome amp! I need to get this!
No you don’t…..
Hahaha just kidding
Looks like PRS has hit another home run.
I highly suspect that one of these is going to join my stable. Wanted a DG30 for a while but can’t use a 30 W amp pretty much anywhere.
I’m pumped
So great!
A small combo version of this amp would be nice.
Sounds great. I’ve only ever used Marshalls but I’d like to try one of these.
Awesome
🖤🖤🖤love it
No fx loop is a deal breaker for me, but it sounds great!
And what the heck ever happened to 6V6 amps?
Effects clog up the signal and affect tone. Real tone nuts can hear the small difference. The new Friedman Plexi also has no effects loop.
@@landajimmy What clogs the tone is using time based effects in front of an amp instead of in the FX loop. It all comes down to what kind of player you are and what you need to get out of an amp. For me, and many others, having an FX loop is absolutely essential.
@@Flornmonkespecially drive pedals going into delays into the front end. In the old days though, guys were using an Echoplex in the front end with the level low so it didn’t take off and get mushy on them. But, in modern times using the FX loop for complex rigs, ambient tones, etc is essential so I agree with you. I think the Hendrix amps don’t have FX loops either. Or at least the 20 doesn’t.
@@jasonlewis5350 Yup, there are a lot of amps without FX loops and I have zero problems with that. They're just not for me.
Nice!!!! 😊
Everything Brian touches sounds like gold! What a player.
It’s 2024 why is there no effect loop ,,,, still looking forward to playing one 😊
I’d love to hear it with a Alnico Blue in that Cab
Tremendous
Ah, I see what you did there... Clever!
So you can’t turn on the reverb without the foot switch?
turn the reverb control knob all the way down, lol.
At the risk of sounding like a new guitarist, how well does this amp take pedals?
Can you use any Head as an amp itself? or do you need like the speaker? Im kinda newbie guys sry
You’ll need a cab. There are no speakers in a head.
@@planetcaravan93 thanks! I probably sounded so stupid lol
@@RiffShark007 Not at all. Nobody knows everything and everyone starts from nothing!
@@Delgalar :))
It’s a good question. A lot of amps these days can be run directly to a PA with a digital cabinet simulation built right in. I actually wish this amp had that. Many new amps meant to gig are being made this way.
Is it spring or digital reverb, thanks!
Does it only work with PRS guitars, or can I plug other models in?
😂
You don't get to hear all of the amps features if your fretboard doesn't have birds, and the guitar top isn't flamed/quilted.
This sounds great, i just got hdxr 20, my only complaint is its not tube rectified and its super stiff, its not good for cleans at lower levels, its made to crank. I havent found the speaker combo i like yet either. But 2 x10s seems to sound best so far.
I’m using a vintage Marshall grey front 25 watt green backs wired to 4 ohms … that works killer for me .. I do set master to 10 and use an ox box then control
Volume from
The ox - magic set up like that and great pre amp power amp speaker break up combo to build the tone - dimensional feeling
I like
Sounds like my Princeton with a Zendrive
Will it do Slayer?
Where is this amp made please?
I wonder where it's made?
Doug Sewell openly said in the videos it's made overseas to bring the price down. So very probably Cortek, but I couldn't tell you whether that's Indonesia or China for their amp factories.
Indonesia!!!
You'd think Paul would've asked DG himself to do this short twelve minute demo 🤷♂
He did as well , there is more than one review out and David does the other
@@bobbyarthur-yf3yf Thank you
Just enjoyed the 5 watt world one as well .. great amp for sure this is !!
No FX loop? Quite unexpected.
Hey that's my guitar
That is a weird name for an Amp. Does it have build in Tremolo because why name it David Grissom Tremolo amp if there isn't a built in Tremolo effect.
There is real, old-school, power tube biased tremolo on this amp.
how much does it cost
Head $1,199.00 USD
1 x 12" Cabinet (Celestion Vintage 30) $499.00 USD
en español por favor por amor al rock
$1700 total: $1200 for the head, $500 for the cab
I don’t understand the difference between a cut control and a presence control. Seems like a duplication to have both in one amp.
@DavidEllis-rw1of - "The top end on David’s amps have always been super important to him. He has cited numerous recordings and has articulated his specific desires for a “sweet” top end. With this amp, there are actually four top end controls for him to carefully tailor it to his liking. When developing his original 30-watt amp, he would test a particular prototype version at the Saxon, watching for the front row of fans to see if they put earplugs in or were wincing at all from the volume. This never occurred, so we felt like the top end (the offending frequencies) was nice but not harsh.
The four controls that David uses are the obvious Treble, Top Cut, and Presence but also the Master Volume. Backing off the Master Volume darkens the tone a touch. So, all these functions treat/control the high end in a different manner. Including them all allows for more tweak-ability... For example, the Treble bleeds high end to ground passively, the Master adds series resistance to darken the tone, the Top Cut bleeds out-of-phase high frequencies together to gradually nullify them, and the Presence manipulates negative feedback to actively boost the highs.
In this case more is better, as it was something that allows David to dial in his tones more perfectly." -Doug Sewell, PRS Amplifier Designer
PRS amps always have that muddy tone in the gain section, idk what it is? Not terrible, just different
Same with prs bass pickups, paul likes that, woofer in the attic sound. I like it to be more clear. Its the midrange, it is boosted.
Amps are their weakest point imo
What's the wood on those guitars? Sounded a bit anemic to me.
PRS needs to hire an actual Guitar Player
Was this a review?
It's the PRS channel. Bryan is their product demonstrator.
It's an advert/infomercial.
The head is $1,200 USD and the cab is $500 USD.
LOVE PRS stuff but 15 watts at this price point?! For that reason I am out.
the amp sounds cool...
although this guy can flipping play!
it's better than the amp. LOL!
I'm against covering the cab with Tolex as it hides the true wood tone. Look how violins are made! No Tolex.
Hmmm... That's an innovative idea!
Ok maybe one cabinet Tolex and the other cabinet Koa wood! Ha
Yet another awful PRS amp demo. PRS, get someone new to demo your amps. Not just this guy who hates distortion. boring
