A couple notes about this tutorial 1) If you don't have time to do 9 layers of paper mache you don't have to, I just wanted to make sure my mask was super strong, but 5-6 layers would still be really strong. 2) To make the stem on top of the pumpkin I used cardboard to make the basic shape, and then did paper mache over top. I forgot to mention that in the video.
@@alwaysuncanny7360 Hello! I really want to make this but have a few questions. How did you do the fabric drape? How did you attach the hanging fabric strips? And how much is this to do? I'm on a little bit of a money crunch so can't spend tons Thanks in advance!
In wearing this for Halloween at my school. The best part is that everybody at my school is like max 6 feet so I'm gonna be super tall. I love this costume and liked and subscribed
I’ve been making this and just finished the last layer of Paper mache and I was wondering how you made the little stalk that comes out of his head I just can’t seem to get the shape right
Hi, Alwaysuncanny! Not sure if you are still checking comments here but quick question; with 9 layers of paper mache, how stiff is your pumpkin? Does it have any give if you push on it? Thank you! Beautiful work!!!
Hey I started making this costume, Im on the 3rd layer now. Can I do two layers at a time or is that terrible? I also am kinda lost for how to do the bottom
I would still try to just do one layer at a time, but if you need to save time you can just do less layers. 5-6 layers will still be plenty strong, I just did over kill. Doing 2 layers at a time will just make the drying time longer. Do you have a specific question about the bottom? I know its kind of an odd set up, haha
@@alwaysuncanny7360 Heyo! I actually just set it up on a bowl and put 2 layers on the bottom to start it out. 3 layers around the whole thing so far. Everyone is hyped for the costume. My pumpkin ended up a bit short and irregular but it was my first time using paper mache so its cool. Oh I'm also gonna be focusing on using different shades of brown burlap and making some more clean looking lights in the eyes. Ill tag you on Instagram as I do the process. I love your channels vibes doe btw
Awesome, I'm glad the paper mache is working out! You can always make the best looking side of the pumpkin the face. Can't wait to see the finished piece!
How did you evenly cut your fabric strips?? I know this video is old but I really hope you respond cause I’m trying to make this costume too but cutting such long fabric strips evenly is way harder than expected 🥲
@@gavinfraser5037 Ok so the process is really time consuming and hard to explain but I’ll try: First, I made the side of the fabric where I’ll be cutting from (the long side) perpendicular to the short side (my fabric was like a really long rectangle). Second, I laid my ruler perpendicular to the long side of the fabric and I marked with a marker the width of the strip (I made mine about 2in or more iirc?) and every few inches down the fabric I’d make another mark till I reached the bottom. Third, I connected all the marks by drawing a straight line all the way down the fabric using my ruler. Basically making all those marks helped me make a pretty straight line. Fourth, I just cut out my fabric on the line I just drew.
@@gavinfraser5037 a few things I wanna mention tho, this would probably be a lot easier if you have a fabric cutter (looks like a pizza cutter) cause I imagine you can just drag your ruler down your fabric as you’re cutting it. Also, I had my fabric folded in half which ofc made the process a bit faster, I folded it hamburger style just cause of how long the fabric was since my costume was about 7ft or more iirc. OR you could just skip all that and try your best to do it by eye lol, it probably won’t be so bad. ANYWAY, I hope this helps!
@@gavinfraser5037 OH one more thing, I made the short and long side perpendicular to each other by laying the fabric on my kitchen island and using the corner as a reference but there’s tools you can buy that are shaped with a perfect 90 degree angle if you don’t have a table with a corner, also sorry for all the replies lol
This costume is impressive in so many ways

Nuuu lol
Thank you
I wanna do this for Halloween and only a few people will get to context and it’ll be great
This is gonna be my Halloween costume for the next like 5 years
This is so cute, I love the music! This is so cool!
Your creativity is insane. Working on a fun OTGW project now and I'm definitely taking notes here!
This is such a good costume!
Thank you! :)

literally laughed my ass off watching this because i was just so delighted. TOTALLY gonna make this for the next convention i go to.
Glad you liked it!
Hopefully I actually get around to making this this year, thank you for the tutorial!
This is so impressive! I have a few ideas of my own to add on to it, so I think I may try to make one of my own!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I'd love to see more of your Cosplays if you enjoy the filming process ❤❤
I love it! so creative.
Wonderful costume! I found this video to be very helpful
TODAY IS THE DAY I PAINT! But honestly the shading on your costume is so beautiful wish me luck!
This is so good! Amazing work!
Awesome video! I was actually thinking of doing Enoch for Halloween, but I settled for Wirt instead. :D
Thanks! I'm sure your Wirt will turn out great :)
Amazing! I need it!
This is AMAZING 🎃
This was helpful! Thanks!
A pair of short stilts would increase the looming presence if the costume. Nothing terribly tall and unwieldy, 6-7 inches :D
Amazing!
very cool! Thank you!
Wish I'd seen this before. I'm already tall, so this would be so much fun. Maybe this november, I can still be spoopy!
Hello, I like the way you designed the costume and I am trying to make my own. I was wondering, how did you bend the tomato cage?

Is it hard to see out of? I want to make this for my bf and want him to be able to see! He’s also sooo tall already!
We’ve always made papier-mâché out of just PVA glue and water what’s the difference with using flower and starch? Is it stronger?
Very late reply but I used flour and starch. I believe the liquid starch is just to help prevent mold. Most of the mixture is still flour.
I've recently watched a video for paper mache with PVA glue and water and it sounds like it will dry faster than flour/starch and be quite strong.

You should use this at a con!
I haven't been to a con in a while but next time I go to one I will definitely wear it. Its a lot easier to wear than my lego batman costume, haha
