You should listen to the previous ones, obviously! I think Iridiscent is my favourite album of theirs, but my favourite tracks are still from their earlier releases (like Depths II and III, Inhabit the Wound and The Anatomy of Time). They are also (self-)described as christian metal, and it's way more evident from the lyrics on earlier albums. But they are never 'preachy', they are just full of various religious references, so trying to completely understand the lyrics takes you on a real adventure. I mean, their lyrics come with comments, references and trivia written by the authors themselves!
Silent Planet is my absolute favorite metal band - all albums are sick and they just get better and better. Panic Room will always have a special place in my heart
Their earlier work is indeed really good and lyrically 'raw' The albums 'Everything was sound' and 'When the end began' are really good to check out If not planning on, at least give Depths III and Panic room a listen
Currents - The Place I Feel Safest Dark lyrics, insane instrumentals, one of my favorite albums of all time. Progressive metalcore at it's finest, you'll fall in love with it
The last song is about his puppy, Birdie, that unexpectedly passed away while writing this album. Really makes the whole thing so much more somber and heartbreaking
If you love silent planet, you should really check out what I consider to be their brother band in terms of overall sound and atmosphere, Currents! Their most recent album from 2020, The way it ends is in my mind a masterpiece.
I saw silent planet with currents last time they were on tour together and it was fuckin amazing. Even got to meet silent planet it was fuckin siiick they are super chill dudes
I feel like Brian’s voice really struggles on that album but the music is impeccable. I love their guitar players other band, Shadow of Intent too. Far more technical
What incredible editing on this video! So glad you showed footage of Alex the drummer. He’s such a beast, showing such skill and technique without resorting to strictly speed
i only disovered silent planet a few months ago and theyve already become one of my favourite bands. The depth of the lyrics and the passion of the vocals is just insane. Panic Room, Terminal, The New Eternity and Trilogy hit so fucking hard.
I discovered them late 2023 and they became my top listened to artist for the year. Their discography is so fucking vast and Garrett murders every track. One of the most talented vocalists of this past decade
That breakdown in Panopticon changed my fckn life. So happy to see you enjoy that song as much as i did the first time i heard it. Thats my go to SP workout song. Easily one of my most played tracks this year.
"It's always red, the static in my head" Probably one of the best pre-breakdown lyrics out there. That said, Second Sun, the Sound of Sleep, and Terminal are probably my faves off this phenomenal album. Especially those cleans on Second Sun. The Sound of Sleep, this might seem weird, has always been a sister track in my head to Northlane's Jinn. Both have that climactic feel, but with the some pretty hefty lyrics.
loved this vid mate. only knew trilogy to begin with so clicked just to see you listen to that but ended up staying because the rest of the album was so good too
Its really fun watching someone experience that magic we got hearing this music for the first time. Drew lighting up is precious. Like I cant go back and hear these albums that are so precious to me for the first time, but I can await a DF video and be like "I remember that feeling"
If you love the lyricism in this you really need to check out Everything Was Sound. It’s arguably their best and definitely their deepest record ever. There are less hooks on it but it’s an incredibly amazing album and Garrett kills it on there as always
Iridescent is an amazing album, and its a really good evolution of what the band was, but in my personal opinion their 2018 album '' when the end began'' is by far their best work and its one of my favorite metalcore albums of all time , you should definitely check it out man !
So happy you got listen to these guys! Iridescent was definitely one of my favorite AOTY for 2021. You should definitely check out their other albums! Everything is Sound def my fav!🤘🏼
Seen these guys live in 2018 with ABR. I knew they would blow up because they had such a unique sound, great stage presence. Ive listened to this album so much over the last half year. Literally every song is top notch but Panopticon, Terminal, Second Sun, Translate the Night and Sound Of Sleep are probably my favorites. Great reaction as always Drew! Stoked for whatever is next.
An album that touches on a lot of the things that things like Panopticon touch on is The Uncanny Valley by Deadlights. An incredibly unique, bouncy, riffy, catchy, lyrically interesting album. Really slept on by the metalcore community. Also super surprised you haven't gotten to Invent Animate yet. All their albums are fantastic and seem up your alley. Really groovy, catchy and heavy.
Long time metal head, but with kids and family and whatnot have not discovered much new stuff lately. This is AWESOME. I want to dive DEEP. Where do I start?!
Iridescent is definitely my favorite song on this album, it always makes me think of my aunt that unexpectedly got sick and passed away. It will forever be the song i listen to when im thinking of her
They technically have 3 clean vocalists. Their screamer does some cleans, their guitarist does some in a few songs, and their bassist did them in trilogy but had done most of them in previous albums until taking a step back this album
Love to see it, definitely one of my favorite bands next to Loathe and Periphery. They just keep getting better too, with significant growth with each album. I dont see Silent Planet slowing down anytime soon. Edit: Garrett is one of the best vocalists in the business. Nasty screams, deep and moving lyrics, and some of the sickest flow in the industry. This guy just knows how to write words to a song Another edit: I see you banging that head to Second Sun, basically my same first reaction. Such a banger of a song, but sad that its one of the least played songs on that album :( alright no more edits, watching the rest through . Love the vids Drew, keep it up my man
if you like critics of society etc. i recommend you the band While She Sleeps, especially their album You Are We which is a lot about this it's less heavy i'd say but what i love is that every song they create are anthems it's incredible
Garrets voice “breaking” is basically him doing like a slam poetry voice, he’s basically reducing the air flow so he doesn’t do his full fry scream. Flo from landmarks is his normal voice coming through at the end of his scream cause of airflow reduction as well
So pumped when I saw you hit this one, one of the best things to come outta 2021 🙌 found your take on the vocals interesting in terms of him letting the harshness drop out on certain words, something I personally love (and think Flo from LANDMVRKS is a beast). Reckon Sam Carter was one of the first I really heard nail that technique. But Garrett is honestly one of the best I’ve ever heard do it. Surely Polaris soon, either album works but personally The Mortal Coil wins for me 🤟🤟
The Way It ends by Currents! Banger of an album!! It's their latest album and of my favorite albums of 2020/2021, I highly recommend this for you next!🔥👌
Coming back to this video, after coming back to the album many times This album is special. It reeks of a dystopian, yet so very real despair that I've only ever heard from currents And even then, silent planet has such a more ambient feel
Fun fact; in the song Panopticon, if im not mistaken (dont quote me word for word) but the entirety of the guitar parts of the song were all recorded on a bass guitar by the bassist!
I’m sure someone has said it but Panopticon has zero guitar in it. The “guitar” part is actually a bass! I think the story is they put guitar strings on a bass and recorded the guitar part like that. Then they used a regular bass with bass strings for the actual bass part. I probably explained that horribly but still insane nonetheless 😂
Ooooooh. So, a little backstory. Alex, the drummer, mentioned that this album’s lyrics were very personal for them. All of their previous albums were more about world issues, but this was more about mental health, car accidents, losing your pet, etc. Except for Alive, as a Housefire which was inspired by the BLM movement. Would highly recommend listening to their previous album When the End Began because it’s quite a different vibe overall. Lyrics are just as deep too. Really in all of their albums the lyrics are unmatched.
This is my first time listening to this album by Silent Planet and I am very intrigued. I will give this another listen but it has the right energy and mixes heavy with clean and deep(er) lyrics. Nice.
If you like this sound, I'd recommend Oh, Sleeper (who are probably the pre-cursors of it). "Son of the Morning" is a masterpiece of an album with an amazing concept.
hey man, what about Reflections - The color clear (2015)? Did you heard that one? I would love to see your reaction, because my reaction was... well... I was unspeakably impressed I plan on spamming every post about this album as it is one of the most impressive albums of my life. the epitome of dark, thought-provoking progressive metalcore with many influences
Great album. Glad you seemed to enjoy it, been one of my faves. Speaking of faves, what is that album you have hanging on the wall in the back that you gave a 10/10? Cheers
Droppin in and chillin out to the reaction to an album that, Id known notting about before. As with most of the bands in this genre, I like the swells of synths, and nice guitar effects during the more ethereal clean tone passages. Not really me own cupán tae as such, but good analysis and musical notes by yer good self along the way.
Drew, you googled the term Panopticon for clarification and it's a really cool term. You should listen to the album Panopticon by the band ISIS. One of the best (Post Metal) albums of allllll time. A damn classic. Hopefully one day you'll react to it.
Slant Plant has easily become my favorite band of all time, seriously. Such an amazing band. Garret is a sweet person, I got to meet him in a concert and he's so attentive, so kind, and so sweet. Wished I could've seen him again, too bad their northlane your got cancelled
"Bastard son, what did the sun do to these metal bands?" Mate I've lived most of my life in deserts and I hate that bastard. Brought to you by Luna Gang Edit: And yes its a great time to be a metal fan :) Great video Drew
TesseracT - Altered State❤️🔥 Comment back here when you’ve listened, or maybe even after a few listens. It’s such a grower and has been my favourite album along this entire journey.
Dude u gotta check out new Slipknot song Yen. I know you said that you don't really enjoy them as much anymore but this one a little different and more creative.
people say that superbloom is their best to date but i think its one of the lowest on the list as this album and their others feel way more powerful and meaningful
THANK YOU for acknowledging the kind of out of tune vocals that vocalist brings in this band. I've said the same thing for a couple years now and everyone I've spoken to about it is just like "got no idea what youre talking about bro.." seriously? how do you not know..? anyways.. Same with Landmvrks yes.. just thanks for speaking about that lmao 🙏 , it's the reason why I can't get much into this band or Landmvrks. I call those vocals Shaggy vocals, cause sounds like Shaggy from scooby doo LOL.
Fun fact; in the song Panopticon, if im not mistaken (dont quote me word for word) but the entirety of the guitar parts of the song were all recorded on a bass guitar by the bassist!
This album is absolutely ridiculous 💣 Next up is ‘Dig Deep’ by After The Burial 🪦 💥
You should listen to the previous ones, obviously! I think Iridiscent is my favourite album of theirs, but my favourite tracks are still from their earlier releases (like Depths II and III, Inhabit the Wound and The Anatomy of Time).

If not planning on, at least give Depths III and Panic room a listen
Hope you can get to måsstaden (forte) sometime in the near future!
You should also check out there new drop Signal.
Currents - The Place I Feel Safest
Dark lyrics, insane instrumentals, one of my favorite albums of all time. Progressive metalcore at it's finest, you'll fall in love with it
This is a great shout. What a belter of album.
Yeah I miss Currents as an option to vote for in his polls to this day... The way it ends also bangs
:)
The last song is about his puppy, Birdie, that unexpectedly passed away while writing this album. Really makes the whole thing so much more somber and heartbreaking

Completely agree

❤️🔥
i only disovered silent planet a few months ago and theyve already become one of my favourite bands. The depth of the lyrics and the passion of the vocals is just insane. Panic Room, Terminal, The New Eternity and Trilogy hit so fucking hard.
Panic Room is a modern metalcore classic.
So glad you did this one man! One of my favorite albums from last year. It's an absolute masterpiece.
I cant believe this album only released in November 2021. I feel like ive been listening to it for 2-3 years now. Wtf.
"It's always red, the static in my head"
Probably one of the best pre-breakdown lyrics out there.
I’ll have to play them B2B man, interesting! Also second sun’s cleans are my fave part of album currently🔥
Interesting you say that, I’ve felt that Details Matter off Alien and Panopticon have been sister tracks since day 1
loved this vid mate. only knew trilogy to begin with so clicked just to see you listen to that but ended up staying because the rest of the album was so good too
It really is a banger of an album 🔥🔥
❤️🙏🏻
Its really fun watching someone experience that magic we got hearing this music for the first time. Drew lighting up is precious.
Like I cant go back and hear these albums that are so precious to me for the first time, but I can await a DF video and be like "I remember that feeling"
What it’s all about, thank you bro. Glad you enjoy ❤️
Love it here, reliving the magic of metal 2021 through you man🙌🏾
❤️❤️🔥
Man watching you fall in love with Second Sun was so awesome. This band is so amazing and deserves all the recognition they get
Definitely one of my AOTY from 2021, I'm so glad you enjoyed Second Sun the most, that chorus is so catchy
If you love the lyricism in this you really need to check out Everything Was Sound. It’s arguably their best and definitely their deepest record ever. There are less hooks on it but it’s an incredibly amazing album and Garrett kills it on there as always
This is one of my favourite metalcore albums ever, it's so good and fun from start to finish!
Iridescent is an amazing album, and its a really good evolution of what the band was, but in my personal opinion their 2018 album '' when the end began'' is by far their best work and its one of my favorite metalcore albums of all time , you should definitely check it out man !
One of my favorite albums of last year. The title track is unreal
This is still one of my favourite albums to date! I can still easily listen to this all the way through on repeat.
So happy you got listen to these guys! Iridescent was definitely one of my favorite AOTY for 2021. You should definitely check out their other albums! Everything is Sound def my fav!🤘🏼

yea invent animate's greyview and stillworld are out of the world
The Uncanny Valley is an incredible album (definitely slept on). Also, Invent Animate is probably my favorite band in the prog metalcore genre.
Long time metal head, but with kids and family and whatnot have not discovered much new stuff lately. This is AWESOME. I want to dive DEEP. Where do I start?!

Massive production value you put into this video. Really appreciate that
Iridescent is definitely my favorite song on this album, it always makes me think of my aunt that unexpectedly got sick and passed away. It will forever be the song i listen to when im thinking of her
absolutely honored to be one of the 100 Patrons, Drew! absolute unit of a creator!
I love Silent Planet so much
They technically have 3 clean vocalists. Their screamer does some cleans, their guitarist does some in a few songs, and their bassist did them in trilogy but had done most of them in previous albums until taking a step back this album

it's less heavy i'd say but what i love is that every song they create are anthems it's incredible
Fun fact, lead singer Garrett Russell has been dubbed 'the nicest guy in metal music' and is such a wonderful human being.
Garrets voice “breaking” is basically him doing like a slam poetry voice, he’s basically reducing the air flow so he doesn’t do his full fry scream. Flo from landmarks is his normal voice coming through at the end of his scream cause of airflow reduction as well

Much love from Ukraine. 🇺🇦

you totally gotta listen to their old albums, all good stuff especially the night god slept and everything was sound wich i both consider masterpieces
The old stuff just doesn't hit as hard or is composed as dynamically.
@@geraltoftexas7631 I completely disagree, I am of the opposite opinion lol
@@geraltoftexas7631 this dude just said that the night god slept isn't dynamic, please you're not a fan if you say that

Amazing video for a jam of an album 🤌
to landmarks : you really should listen to their first album : Hollow , their best without any doubt ;)
Lost In The Waves!!!
Anhedonia is the perfect quintessential metalcore song for me
I’m sure someone has said it but Panopticon has zero guitar in it. The “guitar” part is actually a bass! I think the story is they put guitar strings on a bass and recorded the guitar part like that. Been waiting to see you do this one. I fucking love silent planet!!
Very few bands can bring you to tears due to heaviness
Awesome reaction!! This album was my intro to this band and I loved it first listen!! 8.5 is a perfect rating for this one
If you like this sound, I'd recommend Oh, Sleeper (who are probably the pre-cursors of it). "Son of the Morning" is a masterpiece of an album with an amazing concept.
Birth.Eater by Oceana is another album that contributed to this sound.
i knew that outro would get you 🤣
hey man, what about Reflections - The color clear (2015)? Did you heard that one?
I would love to see your reaction, because my reaction was... well... I was unspeakably impressed
I plan on spamming every post about this album as it is one of the most impressive albums of my life. the epitome of dark, thought-provoking progressive metalcore with many influences
bro the final run from Amulet to Transparence gd
In fact, i haven't listened to it in a while, brb ;)
Great album. Glad you seemed to enjoy it, been one of my faves. Speaking of faves, what is that album you have hanging on the wall in the back that you gave a 10/10? Cheers
Hey Damian, it’s TesseracT’s ‘Altered State’ 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Garret is one hell of a artist and they have been in my top 10 for some time. Glad you got to hear this bet this wont be the last time lol.
Trilogy comes up, I quickly remember you've never heard it ...*excellent*
Droppin in and chillin out to the reaction to an album that, Id known notting about before. Cool stuff. I actually grew up with Starks dad. Super proud of them
Drew, you googled the term Panopticon for clarification and it's a really cool term. You should listen to the album Panopticon by the band ISIS.
One of the best (Post Metal) albums of allllll time. A damn classic. Hopefully one day you'll react to it.
All Silent Planet albums are fantastic. One of my fav bands. This album is metalcore AOTY for me
One of my favorite albums of last year. Garrett said Deftones and Loathe were big influences on this album
Silent Planet just hits me so hard. Been feeling apathetic with a lot of heavy music recently and this shit is waking me the fuck up
Till We Have Faces is ridicolously good
I think you'd quite enjoy the new bleed from within album.
Where's Till We Have Faces??... wasn't that song in this album too??
41 mins
ahhh silent planet, a band so fekin smart, this is the first album where the lyrics from each of their videos *didn't* have footnotes.
Slant Plant has easily become my favorite band of all time, seriously.
Such an amazing band.
Garret is a sweet person, I got to meet him in a concert and he's so attentive, so kind, and so sweet.

cant wait to 2100 to see it in top 100 albums of century
Might aswell give this a goo before it's taken down 🤣🤣🤣
Panopticon is also the best album by Isis
If you lived in south Florida you would understand that whole sun ordeal
You should do structures album none of the above
Archspire my dude, it's time. Especially as someone who at one point listened to rap I think you'd appreciate the vocals.
AOTY 2021 for me.
I fu**ing hate the sun. 😠

Dude listen to Love Language by Windwaker, or even better their Empire EP. They are so good.

I think trilogy is the best metalcore song ever written.
How are you a metal enthusiast and a channel dedicated to metal music and you haven't ever heard a Silent Planet song? Like, how is that possible?
So bad I saw them live before this album
